Which one is more costly; trying to fix the rot in oeder to alliviate the difficulties people are facing or sitting back and apportioning blames while the masses suffer...?

The major problem we have in governance in Nigeria is "continuity and discontinuity" while every leader is coming in with new policies, they most of the times tend to dump even the policies that favoured the masses that were implemented by the past administrations...
The way forward and solutions per moving forward sometimes means identifying and correcting mistakes from the past.

Who are your enemies and who are your friends..?

Do you know how much my business burn on fuel every month and the DISCOS your are defending will still bring their crazy bill worth 500k to my office?

You're are here Justifying increase in tariffs even when you know the DISCOS are Corrupted thieves. And they will never be truthful to both the customers and government.

So you believe Fashola and doubt Amadi. Because one is APC and the other PDP.

But you forget Fashola said this.
Tariff is not fixed by the minister; I don’t fix tariff. I have no power over it. What happened during the last tariff exercise was that I expressed an opinion of support for the tariff.

“Tariff is fixed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

I thought I am talking to a business minded person.

I never knew you are one of those APC vs PDP noise makers.
1. PDP/Jona sold our power assets to their friend's and cronies with little or no knowledge regarding electricity from generation to distribution.

2. The cronies they sold the power assets to also didn't have funds to improve and grow their operations with which today happens to be one of their major problems, no liquidity that is.

3. You said the DISCO are corrupt thieves, but Jona and his gangs sold our power assets to them and their crooked conies anyways.

4. Ok, the DISCOS and GENCOS must expand their operations for smooth and effective services, build MW capacity and delivery, but they don't have funds and banks won't loan them 1 kobo.

5. On top of the reduction in tariff, where or how do you suggest they get money from?

6. So, the DISCOs and GENCOs don't have funds and you don't want to give them funds in form of tariffs, where do you go from here and please explain to us the solutions and way forward.

You people sound really really confused and you have zero clue per what you are defending or supporting.

Nothing special about street lights been powered by Generators and Solar panels, even states that are not as big as Lagos have got that

But you tactically evaded my questions
1. Your FG including 16 years of PDP couldn't supply any government building, street lights, hospitals, waterworks and so on uninterrupted 24/7 electricity, but Fashola did.

2. PDP and Jona budget and stole $20 billion power fund and all they gave us in return was darkness, but Fashola in Lagos built 5 power plants that guarantee 2/4 electricity government facilities without $20 billion, something your 55 years old FG still can not even dream of.

3. 16 years of PDP and Jona couldn't build the 2nd NB, but Fashola built still the best bridge in Nigeria in less than 3 years.

4. If solar or power generator is giving 1 single Nigerian, 1 single government building or 1 single hospital uninterrupted power supply, it is still a good thing and what your 55-year-old government, 16 years of PDP and jona couldn't do.

We know what Fashola can do and the fact that he's dealing with crooks and incompetent clowns and tribal bigots at the Nationa level doesn't change anything, he's a performer anytime any day.

It is very very and more than logical to blame PMB for any decision made by him directly of any part of his administration including ministries and agencies.

The buck always stops with the president and the president is always responsible for all the decisions made by the people he hires and that serve under him.

I know leadership 101 is not your forte, but try to look into it for proper education per leadership and responsibility.

These are sad reflection and byproducts of tribalism, ignorance and bigotry.

The same mentally dubious people applauded the crooked lawmakers for slashing the budget for the 2nd NB even though they've been begging for this bridge for 30 years are also the primary end users.

Fashola was successful in Lagos state because he didn't have to deal with or ask for funds from crooks, tribal bigots and incompetent government officials and people at the federal level with different interests and lack of patriotic spirit.

Tribalism is a very powerful force and the same thing they've been using to marginalize themselves.

My point is that if someone takes a decision without the approval of the president (regardless of who is in the seat) then such a person should be jailed...

NB: its you that keep bringing the name of GEJ into this...
He is just an individual that happened to occupy the seat of the president and that is why if the decision is no longer favourable, the person(s) complaining ought to approach the next person occupying the seat and not apportion blames...

Oga please stop acting like those foolish senators in the Senate that condemned Fashola for inserting N20billion in the budget for contingencies and then turned around to commend the same person for swiftly moving to repair the damaged bridges that collapsed in Jebba. Where did Fashola get the money from? Was that bridge not an unforseen contingency?
There was no logical, economic, business or sensible reason for reducing tariffs. That stupid Former chair of the NERC just admitted to the rest of Nigeria that he sabotaged the entire country by depriving the power sector of badly needed funds. Instead of condemning the irresponsible man, you're here justifying his stupidity and even praising him for being very "explanatory"
Honestly with the way some Nigerians think you'll just feel like giving up. I wonder how people like Fashola wake up everyday to go to work knowing that all their efforts, worķing for some stupid and foolish Nigerians like the ones here on Nairaland, are all but in vain.
The people you are arguing with don't see it that way and they can not because they are not looking it from sound, sane, rational, logical and economic perspective, they are well behind their usual ignorance, lack of intelligence confines hence not understanding the facts and reasons behind the current bad situation regarding electricity.

The Amadi clown just admitted to the world that he sabotaged us with his thoughtless and unpatriotic decision and the whole gist flew over their heads.

All they are interested and all they want us to know is how much they hate Fashola no matter what. These are the same people abusing Fashola while applauding the lawmakers for cutting the budget for their own bridge.

Hate and bitterness can not make them reason beyond the same hatred, bitterness, tribalism and anger and this is why they can never progress.

I've read some disgraceful comments here. We have a former NERC regulator who is admitting that he authorised the reversal in electricity tariffs when Gencos especially were complaining of foreign exchange losses everyday. There was So much debt hanging around the Discos and Gencos as at the time the APC government came in. Minister Fashola recently facilitated the emergence of a N700 Billion emergency cash injection for the power sector in Nigeria. Why? Because tariffs were low and Gencos were not getting any remittance from the Discos. Discos were complaining that they are getting little from consumers because the tariffs were low. And yet we have the ex chair of the regulatory agency coming out to admit he sabotaged the power sector by approving the reducition of tariffs and starving the sector of funds. And some idiots here who have absolutely no idea of what is going on are here calling Fashola names instead of condemning the idiot Amadi. Forgetting that there was no economic, technical or sensible reason for reducing tariffs when they were reduced. It was purely political.

We must look homeward for simpler solutions like turn around maintenance. We must engage our own companies for such contracts so as to grow our own man-power and retain scarce foreign exchange, why take simple jobs such as maintenance to a Japanese company simply because they did the construction.
The Minister made pointless and silly sense, where is the sense and wisdom in transferring funds to a foreign comp just because they built the refinery decades ago when we have huge and credible oil and gas conglomerate with knowledge and technical skills like Ondo.

Obviously, the minister is trying to retain control of the $300 million repair funds and how it's spent by him of course instead of actual concern about the refienry..

The need for more ICT hubs in Nigeria is fundamental because it will aid growth in information technology, productivity, creativity and also provide employment in the country. Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in 2016, an ICT expert Mrs Mary Uduma, who is the former President of Nigeria Internet Registration Association of Nigeria (NIRA), called on the government to build more ICT hubs in the country. While the Kaduna government has yielded to this call, a lot more needs to be done to advance technology penetration in the Northern region and the country as a whole.

The hub was declared open by Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the 5th of April, 2017 at the recently concluded KadInvest 2.0 summit. The summit is centred on making Kaduna ‘the investment destination of choice’ and it featured a number of dignitaries such as the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, Donald Duke, Twitter personality, J.J. Omojuwa and many others. There were discussions on technological advancement, startups, entertainment, entrepreneurship and the girl-child education in the state

A brief visit to China by a Kaduna State team has brightened prospects for the development of a new 50,000 barrels per day refinery in Kaduna, a statement by Samuel Aruwan, spokesman to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, said.

Representatives of the Kaduna Refinery Consortium and the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) signed an agreement on the project this week in China. This is the highlight of the investment and cooperation pacts the Kaduna State delegation signed in China.

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who led a state government delegation for talks in China, said the MoU appoints CMEC as the contractor for the refinery project.

“The selection of CMEC means that our plan for a greenfield refinery in Kaduna is gathering pace.

“The project includes laying an associated 400km pipeline from the border of Niger Republic to Kaduna to transfer crude oil to the proposed refinery. Project goals also include the construction of an 80-100 MW power plant adjacent to the refinery,” the governor said

Mr El-Rufai explained that the refinery project is being sponsored by the Kaduna Refinery Consortium, consisting of Kaduna State, DGE/CCEGC and Tianjin, had earlier signed an agreement in Kaduna committing themselves to the project.
