omobabalawo: at least appreciate it. if u look at the first airplane invented by orville wright and co it doesnt look like the modern airplane at all at all. but they were credited with the invention of airplane. so big things start small
shervydman: huh........I don't have time to waste on people like u, if u cant grasp what TheMortician is saying, how can u grasp mine? u need to find urself a good nursery school, get urself a nursery school uniform, run to class and learn simple comprehension, don't be a dick-head, learn to assimilate things very well before u respond. u read to argue and not to understand!
see ya.
[/s]
This clown still doesn't have anything sane, sensible and intelligent to contribute apart from the same worthless and meaningless ramblings.
TheMortician: My impulse to respond to this is akin to a doctor who stumbles upon a potent remedy to cure the ailment of his patient.
Empty statements there. Egypt and the nuclear power
Egypt’s demand for electricity is rising at a rapid pace, but the country’s own energy resources are limited and very little room left for increasing the country’s output of hydroelectric energy. Egypt is increasingly looking to nuclear energy as a solution.
Egypt and Russia signed an agreement, on November 19, 2015, under which Russia will build and finance Egypt’s first nuclear power plant, in a ceremony attended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi Egypt is part of the MENA countries and they are all going nuclear while Nigeria is still talking kainji dam and hydro power. http://www.israeldefense.co.il/en/content/egypt-and-nuclear-power-plants-mena Yet I had stated that fact here in a post you even quoted. Only for you to say I didn't know Nigeria had signed with Russia under GEJ which this administration has completely ignored! www.nairaland.com/attachments/5636258_2017071206_20_18_jpegc74093f2115d0c06fd060d4e953cd9ca
I offer you education right here on the classroom of Nairaland way above your father's pay grade
You're a disgrace to the man who invented the internet. Not even an automated internet virus is as mindless and repetitive as you.
Scatterbrained móron!
[/s]
More ignorant rubbish, not interested.
You ignorantly asserted that I should Go and check Egypt's nuclear plans. Ordinary freeking plans when your own country already signed an agreement to build 4 power plants in Nigeria.
To break it down, Egypt with no nuclear power plants, no functioning nuclear power plants and not even ordinary contract for nuclear power plant is doing great and ahead of Nigeria while Nigeria with 4 nuclear power plant agreement with Russian is clueless and behind.
Nigeria to generate electricity from nuclear energy – Fashola
The statement also said the comprehensive nuclear law was with the parliament and would be enacted soon.
It stated that Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind in the acquisition of appropriate nuclear technologies.
It assured that government would do all within its power to strengthen the capacity of the regulatory regime.
According to the statement, all procurement activities for the first nuclear power plant with generation capacity of 1,200MW of power to the National Grid by 2025 would be done as scheduled.
It listed Geregu in Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi, and Itu local government area of Akwa-Ibom as the two sites selected by the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).
The statement added that these projects would be financed through Public-Private Participation (PPP) policy for infrastructural development in the country with target to increase it to 4,800MW by the year 2035.
shervydman: huh........I don't have time to waste on people like u, if u cant grasp what TheMortician is saying, how can u grasp mine? u need to find urself a good nursery school, get urself a nursery school uniform, run to class and learn simple comprehension, don't be a dick-head, learn to assimilate things very well before u respond. u read to argue and not to understand!

Abeg keep quiet if you have nothing meaningful to contribute.
shervydman: u obviously don't know what u're talking about............. I don't even know where to pick up a debate with u with all these stewpid thesis.
Coming from another ignorant joker with zero capacity to formulate sane, rational and intelligent thoughts.
This joker even labeled a 760MW power plant irrelevant.
And you wonder why you are lost and unable to pick up a simple internet debate.
TheMortician: I had stated that fact earlier in my quote to you. You always play blind because you're empty. I have used that nuclear deal to word-flog South Africans in the foreign affairs section of this forum since 2015. However, the current administration have not made headway on that deal signed by Jonathan. It is currently in hibernation.
I think you're Demon-possesed. Utterly lacking in dignity and honour. You have every disposition to rob a corpse !!!
I won't be conversing with you further.
You aren't worth the internet data that conveys these messages. And you certainly aren't woryh one stroke of my finger on my keyboard.
You're irredeemably taken by shamelessness and/or short amnesia, having the attention span of a domesticated squirrel.
The end!
1. You are very dumb and ignorant so you spew rubbish all over the place to cover your ignorance.
2. You opined that other African countries are building power plants, but came up with only SA, then you latched on to Egypt that doesn't have any and is even yet to award contract.
3. You are so clueless and ignorant that the fact that Nigeria, your own country already signed an agreement with Russia to build 4 power plants flew over your ignorant head while praising other countries.
Like I said if you are going to run your mouth, do it with basic knowledge and credible facts.
shervydman: @deomelo.............try to understand what TheMortician is saying.
in two sentences, he's saying that the dam is irrelevant as it not generating much output, so, how can a country like Nigeria with 180m population cry foul over that when SA of 53m population generates 40,000mw and still going nuclear. secondly, we can make another bargain with those countries rather than sell electricity to them as it is not even enough for us.
pls, don't let Themortician injure u with facts and expletives. he's a funny dude when it gets to expletives.
760MW is irrelevant, right? You people are not serious for sure.
What we are selling to them is less than 1% of what we generate and agreement is agreement and it must be honored. The are not getting anything free of charge, they are paying for it.
Nigeria is not SA and SA is not Nigeria. SA's NPs and huge MW output are byproducts of the apartheid government.
You can shout all you want, but you can not erase decades of neglect, contracts, and agreements overnight.
Where were you when past administrations, specifically the last PDP admin budgeted $20 billion for electricity and end up looting and stealing every kobo with nothing but darkness to show for it?
Fast forward to 2017, we don't have that kind of money anymore, we are broke and have to operate within our economic confines and even with our economic challenges, we have more MW coming up than what was generated before.
TheMortician: what kind of shameless Bastard have I been conversing with? Even using an alternate to preserve the fleeting ego of his main alternate.
Go and check Egypt's nuclear plans....get a sense of shame, my boy. You telemundo addict thinks every topic is where you use your leprosy-infested fingers to chirp out nonsense.
Fullblown retárd
What's wrong with this ignorant clown?
Egypt doesn't have any functioning NP and they are even yet to award contract for the so-called Dabaa nuclear plant.
You really need to confine your ignorance to yourself and your kind.
TheMortician: South Africa is building two giant nuclear plants. And she's already having over 40,000 megawatts with 53 million people while Nigeria is just 4,000 with 180 million population Your ignorance is truly exemplary!
Nigeria, Russia sign nuclear power plants pact – Osaisai
The same Rosatom Corporation of Russia bidding to build the NP in SA just last year signed an agreement with Nigeria to build four Nuclear power plants in Nigeria.
You know so much about other countries, but you know so little about your own country.
TheMortician: @ Deomelo, have you checked if south Africa is building nuclear power plants yet?
Did you know Nigeria had a contract with Russia under GEJ administration for similar projects but was later jettisoned or stalled?
Read una no go read , na to come Nairaland come disgrace una backwater education naim una sabi
We know about SA and the fact that they have Nuclear power plants, no news here, you said other African countries, emphasis on plural so name the other African countries.
TheMortician: I think I have stated, the Cotonou borders which actually makes up a significant chunk of Benin's economy. I remember when Obasanjo closed that aspect of that border, the Nigerien President was in Abuja pleading his heart out.
I also states the ECOWAS regional block is also an effective tool where Nigeria shoulders the running and servicing of this regional body.
I also stated Nigeria should invest in nuclear power generation as south Africa and Egypt have done.
If I made add her what about the other 2 dams Nigeria still have? Kainji dam only supplies about 500 megawatts of electricity. This 40 years dam is long over due for an upgrade with bigger and more powerful turbines!
And yes, bigger countries dictate to smaller countries every day. It is called diplomatic pressure in geopolitics. You're an alexithymic buffoon who isn't worth its weight in white garri. A sad example for internet.
Your self-esteem must really have the lifespan of your data subscription.
Highly recommended ignoramus!
[/s]
Stop boring me with more and more ignorant rubbish, I asked you to articulate what Nigeria should have offered to placate them or what punishment we should have threatened to force them to agree to our terms.
You are not impressing me with your misappropriation of words and puerile insults so stop wasting your time.
TheMortician: The honourable minister wasn't even taking about alternative source of power generation when other African countries with less electricity demand have gone nuclear. But he was still hitting on kanji dam which is as useless as our independence.
TheMortician: My point is, since Nigeria barely has enough electricity for itself why not use her economic power in the subregion to negotiate other ways of compensation instead of selling what she doesn't have? (2) The honourable minister wasn't even taking about alternative source of power generation when other countries with less electricity demand has gone nuclear. But he was still hitting on kanji dam which is as useless as our independence.
when magnified idiots like you grace the Internet, they often critique people's submission without facts. And you wonder why the only interview you have ever been invited for since your everlasting joblessness is for the possition of a mortuary attendant.
Air-headed simpleton
And where are your own facts? None.
If you are going to criticize and call other people names, common sense and basic prudence dictates that you clearly articulate solutions or state specifically what the government should have done to placate her neighbors and even the fact that you are a powerful neighbor doesb't mean you can dictate to them. They are doing you a favor, not the other way around and they are even paying billions for the same favor.
Are you even sure they did not try to appease them in other ways?
triplewisdom: See why they call you haters? You just gave the Igbos another opportunity to insult the entire yoruba nation. Even the dead are not spared.
What is this dodo saying? And what do I even care who hate or don't hate me because some clown tried to fool us with some village toy they call rocket... Abeg shut your ipobitch mouth..
conductor11: [s][/s] Show us the ones your grandfathers produced with the all the skulls they have been harvesting in Ogun
You mean your jobless grandfathers no get better things to do beyond sitting around the village square messing around with some useless village fabricated baby toys you clowns are calling rocket?
Btw, ignorant ipobitch. I love ewedu so much I fit eat am 3 times a day.
You think you are abusing me with ewedu when in fact you are basically admitting that we are smarter and have better nutritional judgment than you losers..
Ewedu get unlimited benefits while your rancid and worthless akpu no get any human benefits beyond carbohydrates and diabetes.
no one has right to block even a stream that passes through. blocking it means you are denying people downstream of their source of livelihoods and it could be termed genocide. imagine someone blocking your way to your office where u make ur livelihood... what would u result to. It's called riparian rights ... Both the tributor and tributee have right to the water resources including electricity. imagine if nigeria blocked the niger from flowing into the Atlantic ocean what would happen to these countries? They would become rivers and not countries and if it burst... nigeria becomes a river too. It's a win win situation.
Abeg list the countries ...
What's going on here?
Is this comedy or they just don't teach geography in our schools.?
Mcreloaded: No wonder Nigerians are suffering. We have a very poor thinking government. A government that doesn't care for its people. Do you think if Aso rock depended on that current its giving out, it will continue to give it out? But because its Nigerians that need it right?
Hey listen if Benin or Niger should decide to dam their own part of the five to generate their own electricity then kainji dam will cease to exist as it won't have enough water to turn the turbines generation electricity yo Nigerians. So in other words they are doing Nigeria a favour after all they are paying for the electricity though I expect our Nigerian government to re negotiate the MW they will sell to them so we can have more light time
How do you reconcile both highlights?
They are poor thinking and at the same time did the right thing to make sure our turbines doesn't cease to exist.
Are you confused or just talking from both sides of your mouth.?
Idango: This thing did not begin now during Fashola's tenor. He is just explaining to you. This has been the arrangement for long. And that is how it is possible to keep using the kaini dam. If you think you can do it better, maybe when you become a minister you can change the agreement with Niger and Benin.
Nigeria and Republic of Niger reach power supply agreement Aug 06, 2001 02:00 AM Nigeria and the Republic of Niger have reached a fresh agreement that will guarantee uninterrupted power supply to Niger and also guarantee uninterrupted flow of water from Niger to Nigeria's strategic hydro electric power station at Kainji in the central Nigeria's state of Niger. The accord reached after top level discussions between Nigerian Minister of Power and Steel Olusegun Agagu and his Niger's counterpart Yahaya Baare of Mines Ministry in the capital Abuja. Officials at the Nigerian Ministry of Power and the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) disclosed that the arrangement between the two countries will ensure that 45 MW of electricity is guaranteed to Niger."The amount of electricity to be supplied is just about 1 % of the estimated 4,000 MW to be generated by NEPA at the end of the year. By supplying the country with this, we will also guarantee that they will not dam the River Niger and as such throw Kainji out of action," a NEPA senior official was quoted as saying.
jieta: just look at your self, does your statement make sense to you? how can you sell what you need.
Have you first asked yourself if it's possible for you to get the electricity you need with no water to dam to generate the same electricity you need because your neighbors dam or have diverted the water before it reaches your country? Exactly how are you going to get your own electricity in the first place with no water to dam for electricity?
The agreement guarantee that they will not dam the River Niger and as such throw Kainji out of action.
I don't know if you people are really clueless, thoughtless and dumb or you are just playing clueless, thoughtless and indeed dump.
bigtt76: Exactly, the flooding was not as a result of ocean surge but rather in ability of the land to drain back into the sea fast after rain fall. With the drains and canals blocked this would be evident.
Funny that Lagos with poor pipe borne water problems is not even looking at building or creating a water reservoir to collect the run off water and after treatment redistribute same.
The water harvested could even be used to generate cheap electricity if properly planned.
It's correct that we need good drainage system, buy the problem at hand has little or nothing to do with drainage but more about rising water level and inability of seas and lagoons to receive rain water and also because of human activities along the coast lines in places like Lekki blocking natural water pathways back into the ocean.
We need inland water retention basins to collect and store rain water which could be either treated for human use or drain into the sea or lagoon after drips in water level.
Places like the US and Japan with the best drainage system are facing similar challenges and they're tackling the problem with inland water retention ponds which is very cheap and effective.
The only short term problem is finding open land to dig up for the retention ponds to collect and store rain water.
Re-Engineeer canals? Instead of demolishing the entire Lekki and VGC like they did to Maroko
Ambode u are wasting ur time and Lagos state money, if u like restructure the canals, flooding on the island will remain inevitable, as long as Lekki phase 1 and VGC still exists, the flooding will never stop, those estates are meant to be canals/ drainage ways in the first place and not housing estates.
The greatest fear of Lagosians is now The Eko Atlantic Project, the inevitable DOOMSDAY mother of all flood due to the Eko Atlantic is less than ten years from now--Quote me anywhere
The only lasting solution is to Demolish all the houses in Lekki and VgC and convert the whole land to CANAL in order to allow for proper flow of water and prevent flood.
There should be nothing like Lekki phase 1, VGC and other estates on lekki /Ajah axis, those places should be entirely a canal and not housing estates---Quote me anywhere
Good points, but not the red highlight, because EA has nothing to do with flooding and with all the EIA and flood modeling and simulations done by the best marine engeneers in Denmark the world, EA is almost flood proof.

connectpoint: How did you pass Jamb with your lame understanding of plain aptitude...you make haste to run without understanding, multiple words without wisdom.. O ye wise one...show me where I wished him death...Please i'm begging
What's Jamb, aptitude and whatever unintelligent rubbish you are spewing got to do with your mean spirited rants and wishing death on another human being?
Face your death wish routine and stop misusing words like a dummy.
connectpoint: Sorry, you don't qualify for an answer, it's not hate..my first crush was half igbo, half hausa...i don't hate muslims or northerners..but the guy is sick and he won't come back..simple...
And you are qualified to wish death on another human being?
Wishing death on another human being emanates from hatred, bitterness, and evil disposition.
The Christian God is not a vengeful, evil wishing and a sadistic God so obviously, your christian god obviously is counterfeit, evil and resides only in your evil wishing form.
