Politics › Re: How Lagos May Be Underdeveloping The Rest Of Nigeria by deomelo: 2:09pm On May 17, 2017
A funny example I read today on NL about Lagos setting up oil and gas business and exploration company is a good example. Lagos is not losing sleep over Nigeria because the leadership mentality in Lagos is very different, not like leadership in other states and even at the federal. They are moving ahead at a rapid pace even ahead of Nigeria.

Imagine Lagos as a state in Nigeria setting their own goal to be Africa's the 3rd largest economy in just a few years so what's next? Number 1 and largest economy in Africa?

Olokola that should have been completed under Mimiko, he and Amosun were playing politics with it. Today, that project is a shadow of itself

Same thing with many of those projects that should have been executed in the SS but for silly politics the regional leaders played with them.

Attempts have been made by the FG to take the pressure off Lagos yet, the same people who should make things easier are the ones hindering the progress of their states
Lagos is shouldering Nigeria's failure and burden and they've been asking for help and special status for decades, but the same shortsighted leaders whose citizens are burdening Lagos state voted against that measure just a few months ago while their poor and ignorant people especially on NL celebrated that Lagos got turned and voted down.

2 years into Fashola's first term like Ambode, Fashola was building hospitals, maternity centers, housing estates, water works, power plants and so on, but all we are seeing from Ambode's 2 years is overhead bridge and common roads.

And talking about security, the funds came from the Lagos state trust fund created by Fashola.

Fashola created and built the Lagos state command center.

2. IGR and revenue under Fashola grew from ordinary N500 million when he assumed office to N23 billion so what's your point?

And who set the foundation stone for whatever Ambode is generating. Fashola.

3. You are here bragging over budget, but after 2 years of the largest budgets in the history of Nigeria, all we are looking is common pedestrian bridge that even poor states are building everyday.

4. And please let Ambode unfold is yet to be unveiled so called plans after 2 years in office instead of making it up for him on the internet.

5. Ambode has better admin skills, but he can not even deliver half of what Fashola with smaller budget delivered in less than 2 years.?

I can not rate Ambode highly just because of overhead bridge ater 2 years in office, Fash2ola commissioned Okota itire bridge during his first 2 years in office and we did not say he was the best governor of Lagos state ever so why are we saying the best governor because of ordinary overhead bridge?

I agree.

But he's in his second term already and his projects MAY not be as expensive as that of Ambode.
Osun is not close to a lagoon so building three overhead bridges there may be thesame cost as Ajah bridge.
Cost has nothing to do with vision and what you do with your money.

I'm 100% convinced that Ambode is no match for Aregbe with the same amount of resources liker Lagos state.

We are here celebrating ordinary overhead bridge and calling Ambode the next best thing since slice bread when others including Aregbe who is actually building a whole interchange, I mean 2 at the same time. Makes no sense.

He can not be and in fact, his performance so far is very very poor and his also very very behind.

Any Lagos state governor with N820 billion budget should have graduate past ordinary roads and over head bridge after 2 years in office.

Fashola with half Ambode's budget after 2 years already commissioned power plants, hospitals, maternity centers, schools, skill acquisition centers and of course many many roads and bridges.

If Ambode to you is on track to be the best Lagos state governor because of ordinary pedestrian bridge and basic roads, what is he going to be after commissioning still the best bridge in Nigeria and even West Africa like the one above built by Fashola.?

...but Fashola's budget was half of Ambode's budget so Ambode's performance with just basic roads and overhead bridge is nothing per Lagos standard.

With that kind of money, we should be expecting grand and visionary projects which he doesn't have so far after 2 years in office.

No, his performance so far is lousy and minuscule per Lagos standard.

Don't blame them for calling you names because saying Ambode is the best governor since independence was just ignorant and lack of knowledge about Lagos state and even past governors in Lagos state.

Ambode is very slow and far far behind per Lagos standard.

Ambode who is yet to graduate from pedestrian bridges and common roads is the best governor? When Fashola at the same 2 years mark was commissioning power plants, water works, schools, hospitals, maternity centers, skills acquisition centers, drivers institutes, jetties, housing estates, transformer manufacturing factory and so on even though he had half of Ambode's N820 BILLION budget.

If in your world, pedestrian bridge and common roads that even poor states are building all over the place is your main and only determining factor and criteria for the best governor since independence, then you have a screw or 2 missing somewhere and it says a lot about you and your flawed thought process.

Fashola built 15 waterworks

How many Ambode don build? None

Fashola built 5 power stations

How many Ambode don build? None

Fashola's work is enough to fill more than 10 pages on NL, but Ambode's work can not fill 1 single page.

Fashola's work goes beyond overhead bridge and basic roads which so far is Ambode's preoccupation which is very basic and non ground breaking per Lagos standard, but no governor in Nigeria past or present can overtake Fashola's achievements because his body of work was very comprehensive and across the board.

I know hate and ignorance are the foundation of your comment so I do understand.

Pls, lets reason together. the lekki- epe expressway was already been tolled way before the ikoyi link bridge was built. Imagine, the bridge without toll. what do you think would have happened in terms of private investment that had already been sunk into the lekki-epe road.

Come to think of it, the lagos state bought back the concession of the lekki-epe express way before the last elections, so i would think Lagos state owns a chunk if not a large amount of the revenue. So your toll money is working for you abi. Them dey remove roudabout from the road. Oga roads plenty for Lagos o. places you have never been to, i can assure you.

cheesy cheesy cheesy Is the Lekki toll bridge free , was it not built with Tax payers money yet Fashola ran it like a PPI and made people pay to use it daily

How did fashola force people to use a road. is he still there forcing them. because i know the kind traffick on that bridge day and night. Eve sports people are not left behind. Abeg lets just be civil.
Fact is Ambode after 2 years in office is still almost 99% behind Fashola's first 2 years and what Fashola did with Lekki Ikoyi bridge was laying golden goose and cash cow for Lagos state to keep generating IGR for the state, same IGR that goes into projects that Ambode is currently undertaking like the one in this thread.

When Ambode gave out all the fancy equipment to the Lagos police command, people forgot that the funds came from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund Fashola created.

When people talk about Lagos IGR and Ambode's huge budget, it's all because Fashola prepped the foundation for Ambode.

What Fashola did for Lagos state is immeasurable.
