@ Dc Trendy, the new policy affects intending student for 2012/2013 session. Those already admitted into the programe must graduate. In other words, there will be no more part-time after 2016. Except were the programe is reversed.

I have always asked this question: why is it that policies that work in other climes don't work in nigeria? Are we cursed? Do govt think at all before acting? There is no country in this world that dont have part-time studies as part of the education system. What the govt should do is stop the proliferation of universities, close some private universities, and stop further granting of licenses to other private ones. Do this govt know that many part-time students are better than the full time students, do this useless and clueless NUC, that knows nothing aside strike, know that most part-time students are HND, ND, ACA, ACCA NCE etc holders? I sincerely weep for this forced marriage.

@ jahrule, that one or two companies admitted Bsc applied accounting from OBU, to me, does not amount to recognition. There many companies that have rejected that in the past and even presently. To tell the truth, no Nigerian university will accept that for further studies. What would your transcript read-three courses, a project and you are awarded a Bsc! Go to the relevant govt. Ministry and check the status of Bsc applied accounting from OBU through ACCA. Please note that even OBU does note run Bsc applied accounting as a regular or part-time program. So what does that tell you? Ask your friends to apply for Msc in any university of their choice in nigeria using the degree, lets see the outcome.

Recently, a friend of mine said if at 40 one has not gotten an Msc, then such a person schooled late. I tried to explain that when it comes to educational qualification, no time is late. There people that had Msc or Mba at 25 while some at 60 or more. It a depends on your circumstances. Now the question, at what average age is one expected to have an msc?

Acca is good but don't do it because of the bsc applied accounting. It is not recognised anywhere in nigeria. In fact your HND is more recognised than that. But on a more serious note, acca is better than ican. For the HND holders, don't forget to back yourself up with a Bsc. Thanks

In 5year time, I would have achieved the following:

1) obtained a Bsc ( i currently have HND Bus management)

2) completed my house which is currently a little above foundation

3) bought a good car

4) The head Business development department of my company

5) have another baby.

^^^ yes the reason is their inability to graduate students. Why will you start a program you don't even know when you will conclude.
Listen, what is your conviction that good employers of labour will not consider federal and state University graduates before NOUN graduates. Believe it or not NOUN graduates will be discriminated against by the same government that established it. This year is my 11 years of graduation from a federal polytechnic and by September this year I will go for a part time to get Bsc which will last for 5 years. I don't mind the length of time. I will go for it since I can finance it with my present job.
