dodobytes: We really need tactically sound indigenous coaches on this side of the divide,it was clear we needed an anchor man in that game to do the dirty business for us.But our coach was more interested in outscoring the Brazilians.
The talents in our team gave us a false sense of superiority, but tactics always overrides individual talents when the chips r down.
Awoniyi was down on confidence..even if he had an open net,he would have flunked it.Pull him out ASAP...push Success up front and bring in that dude dat won d title with his Belgian club,to operate in the vacant position.
Enough of flying eagles...some matches should be approached cautiously, its not FEAR,its. RESPECT.If u fail to respect ur opposition u will b punished.Respect entails acknowledging their strenghts first, then u can think of a way to stop them from playing to full strenght.
As we prepare to take on Sweden,we must respect the opposition,we must be tactical and flexible.Approach the game cautiously and allow the game settle, then we can adopt tactics that counters theirs right there on the field of play.
Gone are the days where u draw up a game plan n stick to it for 90mins..as the opposition changes their gameplan...u had better not b caught napping.Make early subs if you see your game plan is failing...shore up ur defence n cut ur losses if you notice its all over.
Live to fight another day,as long as it guarantees your stay in the tournament..
CFCfan: Spot on with your comment! The lack of a capable DM cost the Flying Eagles the game. How on Earth Manu maintained the same formation they out the game still boggles my mind.
Like I've said earlier, the Super Falcons need not respect the other teams but Okon should use the 4-4-2 formation against the really big teams (Sweden, USA, Germany etc) at the World Cup. There is no need to try to score 3 goals inside the first 6 mins against Sweden.
Bros it is technical ineptness and I guess it is inherent too.
CFCfan: ^^ The forwards are the cutest. But it seems the height measurement of the team was botched; Onome and Ohale are almost the same height.
In fact, Ohale might be taller than Ebi. The same thing applies to Oshoala who is list at 169cm when in fact she is 181cm or more. In addition, Ini Umotong is equally taller than her listed height.
CFCfan: To be fair, the AAG qualifiers and the botched Olympic qualifiers made it difficult for the NFF to organize friendlies within the last 2 months.
If the Malians had communicated their withdrawal a lot earlier, who knows whether the FA would have scheduled friendlies last Saturday and this weekend?
The invitation of the Falcons to the Algarve cup, held earlier this year, would have helped the coaching crew in selecting the WC squad. But I suspect Okon already knows 16-17 players that would make his WC squad. He may only be seeking to give the fringe players a chance to show their stuff.
I guess Nigeria's Falcon team has already been assembled in the coach’s mind. No wonder Nigeria is always behind the curve of success if all their human endeavors were pre-determined by a drunken mind.
The loudmouthed people are also pitifully greedy. They cannot seek the seat of speaker of House of Representative when they have secured the spot of VP. I guess most of the confused ninnies from southern Nigeria can feel the character of people that seem to shout the loudest in Nigeria.
ebamma: it's better for the ikwerre and anioma igbos to be minorities in Niger delta Republic, than the ijaws, I ibibios, annangs, urhobos, orons ,ukwani, ajaghams, yakurrs, itshekiri etc,to be minorities in Biafra on Nigeria I still stand bro until we can get our own Niger delta republic
The above conjecture is a product of troubled mind.
barcanista: PRE-1999 So many things have been said and written of the traditional Niger Delta region. From the Environmental pollution in Ogoniland, the political and economic marginalisation, the total neglect of the people, the demonisation of those in struggle up to the indigenous stooges of the oppressors that parade themselves as leaders of the region. What has the Niger Delta gained from the Nigeria State? What lies in wait for the future?
Biriye, Boro and Saro Wiwa Positions Prior to the first republic Niger Delta and Ijaw Leader Alabo Dappa Biriye formed a political party for the Eastern Minorities- The Niger Delta Council (NDC). Despite the fact that the NDC won a seat to the House of Representative through Melford Okilo, and also formed alliance with the Northern People's Congress(NPC) that formed the government, the demand of the region wasn't considered nor met. Dappa Biriye was pan-Nigerian, he was very close to Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Yakubu Gowon, Muritala Muhammed and even Segun Obasanjo. Yet, his "friends" never gave him his demand for 50% derivation/Resource Control. At best, he got political appointment.
Sir Isaac Adaka Boro declared the Independent Niger Delta Republic in 1966 citing the marginalisation that the region suffered. He was misunderstood even by the locals and the republic only lasted for 12days before it was crushed. Boro would later joined the fight against the State of Biafra in order to preserve a United Nigeria in 1967. He was the Chief Proponent of Resource Control. This the Nigeria state never gave in despite the support of the region.
Late Ogoni and Niger Delta leader Ken Saro Wiwa was a strong supporter of a united Nigeria against the Ojukwu led Biafran State in 1967. He was to be killed by the same Nigeria State that he fought for all because he demanded for end to the marginalisation and a clean environment for Ogoni people and the Niger Delta region.
The Abdulsalam Abubakar Oppression In 1998 Ijaw Youths made a declaration in Kaiama Bayelsa state calling for the end of oppression and outlined the Ijaw demands within the Nigeria state. Rather than heed to the demand, the administration of Abdulsalam Abubakar sent 1,500 Soldiers and two war ships to the region. More than 3 Youths were attacked, brutalised and killed even without provocation in Bayelsa state
The above post tends to engender emotional outburst especially when I see the kids of those northerners who fought Biafra swim in currencies of any sort while those from the so-called Niger Delta bath in crude oil contaminated streams with sure visit of cancer in near future. The most disgusting sight was the kids from the so-called Niger Delta working heard on dump sites trying to sustain life through illegal distillation of crude oil. Anyway, the current demand for the resource control is a fantasy only conjured by emotionally disturbed Nigerians. I really do not pity the southerners because the time for such human action has gone beyond human intellect.
CFCfan: The US played a friendly game against Ireland on Sunday. However, for the US, it's all about fine-tuning tactics for the main event as they've named their WC squad since last month.
I think the NFF should stick to the Canada and New Zealand friendlies, but Okon should mainly use the reserves to prosecute both games. Our star players could have 15-20 minute cameo appearances in order to avoid injuries.
Bros I am glad you pointed out that USA has already named 23 player squad and now working on tactical nuances. On the other hand, Nigeria never had one preparatory match, has not named the squad and certainly will not have to work on the tactical aspect of the game. Yet they will expect to win a match by hopelessly hoping in God.
dodobytes: Bro..I understand the case you made about the girls picking up injuries, that is always a possibility in football d world over.
Truth b told I have nothing against NFA organising friendly matches if dey r truly grade A.I personally would love to have a glimpse of d complexion of the team, and the coaches can actually test players in positions, try out tactics and appraise their physical n mental conditioning.
The so-called grade A match would have been in the bags a month or two weeks ago since the team has been billed to play practice matches in Canada with teams also participating in the tourney.
terzurum5: Canada 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup: NFF lines , Cameroon Tests for Falcons. The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has lined up Grade A international friendly matches for the Super Falcons to test the team’s readiness for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. Daily Sun Sports gathered from SL10.ng that the reigning African Women football champions will face either the Black Queens of Ghana or the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon or both of them in potential testy duels before departing for Canada. The Edwin Okon-tutored Falcons were billed to clash with their Malian counterparts at the Abuja National Stadium last weekend in an Olympic Games qualifier, but the Mali withdrew from the race at the last minute. And with no competitive game in sight to get the team in shape before the World Cup, the NFF, according to SL10.ng, reached out to Cameroon and Ghana Football Associations for possible friendly matches before they leave for their Canada camp. Although both countries are yet to respond to the NFF’s request as at the time of filing this report, it is believed that the responses would be positive. The Falcons are expected to leave for Canada in seven days and arrangements are almost concluded for them to play a few friendly matches in Canada against yet to be determined opponents, for their final preparation for the World Cup which kicks off next month. Nigeria is drawn in a tough group that includes the USA, Sweden and North Korea.
Nigerians will never disappoint in their silly idiosyncrasy. Few days to the women World Cup tournament in Cananda yet the jackasses are still talking about preparatory match before leaving for Canada. Did these jokers consider the possibility of injuries and time it will take for such player to recover? I guess real countries are in the touch-up mode instead of the so-called stinking "Grade A international friendly matches" for Falcons. When will the goons in Nigeria learn a thing about human nature?
dodobytes: Esther Sunday may likely be included in d final squad. But her place on d bench is reserved. No chance in hell she will be starting ahead of d likes of Ordega n Umotong.
I personally feel in d interest of the team,Esther Sunday shld b dropped,we have better quality options.Much has been said already on this issue.
With concerns about our central defence,it is good to know dat we have Faith Ikidi to give Onome n Ohale a run for their money.
In other news ahead of d world cup I read dat a psychologist has been employed for d team.Good move by NFF,now let's get top friendly games for d girls.
The team must consider the age of the players too. This is a world cup so Nigeria should field the fittest players with skills. Faith Ikidi and Perpetua Nkwocha have been around for long. Although I had had both players as long as there is correct mixture of experience and youth.
humberjade: Unlike Ordega and Oparanozie, Esther hasn't improved much; she lacks d stamina to play at d biggest stage, she plays to d gallery a times, and her final pass/ cross is usually suspect. So I'll rather see another on-form striker take her place.
But if d coach wants to play from d wings, then Esther shld make it as a midfielder.
The coach shldn't have a tough time if he chooses his team based on current form, and d style of play he's working towards.
If I am d coach and I hv d luxury of choosing 5 strikers, I'll go with Oshoala, Ordega, Oparanozie and Ini Umotong.
As for d fifth slot, I'll give it to Uchechi because she's tall and strong.
Courtney Dike is a good player, but not strong enough to play against those huge defenders 4rm Sweden and USA (remember she struggled against bigger defenders at d under 20 World Cup). She's 4 d future, maybe d Olympics.
Ihezuo who couldn't score a goal at d last Under 17 World Cup? I don't see her making d list.
Mama Perpetual should also make it as a midfielder...when Okobi is getting it all wrong, bring mama on; she's got all those defence splitting passes in her feet...her deft touches are 2nd to non in dat team.
Please can you give us your preferable Nigerian falcon squad?
olapluto: Esther Sunday will surely make the team, and she will be in the starting line up most times. I dont know what the fuss is about Ihezuo. Apart from her energy, she's pretty average as a striker. The front 3 will almost always be Esther or Ordega, Oparanozie and oshoala. Goalkeeper? Dede anyday over Whyte. Faith Ikidi should also be in the starting line up. She's the best defender in Swedish league. Same as Sarah Micheal, though she hasnt played for Nigeria in a long time watch the final of the AWC and I believe the starting 11 is close to this.
Chinwedu Ihezuo is an accomplished striker and attacking midfielder. Most teams Nigeria will face in the world cup have good size and skilled players. Ihezuo is needed in the midfield and can equally sub as a attacker.
Nigeria is a fraud. It lacks the fundamentals Senegal has in abundance such as unity and patriotism. Nigeria can not survive a sustainable police action from another country.
Abagworo: If I made money through hardwork, how is that your business? Igbos like you and I are the ones making the most use of one Nigeria and that is why you find us in droves everywhere you go. We can achieve an independent Igbo country if people like you stop giving us bad name because of your badly conceived agenda which cannot work. I am intelligent enough to know that we don't need to annex the minorities or insult our various host communities before we can get our republic. We don't need to pull down our own just because he is not from our particular clan in order to achieve Igbo country. We need unity and good relationship with all sections of Nigeria and the world and not forcefully trying to attach ourselves to other people. Biafra is dead, gone and unachievable. Igbo country is possible.
The above is one of the moronic and flimsy excuses for goofy One-Nigeria. It is equally sane to say the Ndigbo make use of one Cameroon because Ndigbo are every in the country. I must say that your idiotic utterances, either on this forum or in your miserable dealings with certain ethnic minorities outside this forum, seem to give wrong impression of Ndigbo.
For the umpteenth time, Republic of Igbo land does not need any minority ethnic group in Nigeria to become a viable economic bed rock. Having said this, I still look forward to cooperating with few of them if Nigeria should disintegrate.
^^^My take has always been that if Nigeria were to disintegrate tomorrow; or if we begin the practice of a confederal system of gov't, with the whole north (east, west and middle-belt) as one unit........if any of the aforementioned scenarios were to occur, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Northern Nigeria would emerge as the richest region in the country! What needs to happen is for them to have the same level of interest in western education like the south has (and even better), with free/compulsory education for ALL children; they need 100% absence of the bloodthirsty bokites and religious fundamentalism so tourism can thrive (tourism could easily be their highest earner); they need to focus on industrial scale agriculture, with value added agricultural produce and massive storage facilities; they need to exploit their numerous mineral resources......with indigenous companies so the money remains in the region; and they need to ensure that Christians and Moslems in the north have an equal (50-50) stake in governance of the region, with no religion taking precedence over the other!
If this happens exactly as i said, the rest of us can only look on with envy!
Bros I shall not douse the flamed sentiment that Islamic Republic of Arewa or Republic of Islamic Caliphate could be one of the richest countries if Nigeria sees disintegration tomorrow. However there is less value in the so-called unknown and vest land than the actual neighborhoods and their policies.
I'm sorry to say that this statement, credited to the President, is another admission of gross incompetence, failed policies by his administration, and outright cluelessness.
A competent government with well thought-out plans would have voted $1billion for the development of the solid minerals in the North back in 2012. As the President admited, these resources are in abundance in that region.
Guess what GEJ's government did in 2012 - it voted $1b for inland exploration for oil in the country’s inland basins particularly the Chad Basin. To date, a drop of oil is yet to be discovered in the area, while most of the $1billion has disappeared into thin air. Here's a link to the announcement of this waste expenditure.
The President's speech writers are incompetent clowns and GEJ himself continues to prove that he has no idea what his ministers are really doing on his behalf.
There is no doubt you are clannishly biased as your statements suggest. From your myopic views, Nigeria started in 2012. One wonders who had led the cesspit called Nigeria since the independence to 2012. Great countries do not embark on two-year development plans that were severely disjointed due to ethnic pressure. One of the hidden factors that led to Nigeria/Biafar civil war was the 10-year development plan of eastern region which coincidentally followed the discovery of crude oil in commercial quantity within southern protectorate about 1956.
Nigeria is a load of wastefulness and has no reason to survive for a day. The potentials of each section of the jungle called Nigeria can not be realized until the country is disintegrated.
backtosender: This is why i blame ZIK! As nobody seem to have identified his major mistake, though it is against my ethics to criticize a dead but must for the purposes of driving home my point note that it was Zik that delayed our independence till 1960 in other to wait for those that we share nothing in common, who are now fighting us both political and terror attacks here and there. The 1st was the amalgamation of 1914 which he had no hand in. An opportunity came begging in 1957 for our liberation & the northerners said we should have our independence if we wanted that for them, they were not ready. Was it not Zik that insisted we must wait for them? Now u see, does it wort it?
From the above post, it is safe to say you are a victim of propaganda and also a lazy scholar. Contrary to the goofy stuffs you read from the tribally bigoted Yoruba press media, Azikiwe did not delay the granting of independence to the southerners in what later became Nigeria. If Azikiwe was the final arbiter in granting of independence to the protectorates, the southern protectorate would have been sovereign nation by 1950.
After a hurriedly glance on the profile of Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, it is safe to say the dude is an academic fraud just like the most people from northern region of Nigeria. It is a blatant insult to engineering profession to refer to the governor of Kano State as an engineer.
nagoma: Are you insisting that she has a Masters Degree from a college that has never awarded any such Degrees? This is very simple unless of course she is a criminal and an extremely corrupt person. Please make your point clearly and precisely unless you are also a crook.
Only a basement fool will conclude an existence of master’s degree when such object was not listed in Stella Oduah’s CV as allegedly shown by Nigerian Senate.
If this so-called incompetent president could run the cesspit called Nigeria to disintegration, he would be rated the best human Africa has ever produced since the end of colonial era. If the northern region of Nigeria feels GEJ is incompetent, they should provide a competent candidate to face GEJ in 2015. Till then, I urge the debilitating jackass to shut his putrid mouth.
agbameta: The fact that's it's an honorary degree means nothing, it's mute and redundant because at the end of the day, a lie is a lie and public officials lying should be your problem too, it's obviously not because you and the crooked fraudulent official you are defending are both anti social and belongs to the bad side of sane and honest humanity. It's even grossly disturbing that her equally corrupt and disgraced boss is yet to fire her.
Why should he anyways, he didn't fire her for swindling the Nigerian taxpayers for the yet unseen BMW bullet proof cars or even act on his own committee report he's still sitting on as if he never commissioned the committee to do anything.
Thank God a change is coming..
Only a moronic ninny will fire a person because demented dolts such as you accused the person of any crime. It is unfortunate that jackasses that are asking for Stella Oduah’s head for an imaginary crime cannot discern criminal tendencies even if such acts are placed on the ridge of their dirty noises.
For people like me, who are sitting on the fence on this issue, this decision by Stella Oduah has pushed us to the side of believing the allegation against her. It is very simple to simply set the record straight by providing the name of the institution which conferred a MBA degree on her, while publicly condemning Sahara Reporters and her many enemies. There is only one reason why Oduah is unable to do just that. Go figure. SMH
Mr. chucks,
Tonniey: instead of all this ranting by stella kinsmen, dis is the working website of NASS, check it and see for yourself. www.nassnig.org/nass/news.php The last time I checked, ibo people will support themselves even if found guilt, awon oju o ri ola ri. Dey wanna make use of this opportunity having seen it boldly written in obasanjo letter dat this might b d last time such region will make presidency.. Quote me and fall dead!
I am not surprised that Yari.ba people are hugging propaganda from newspapers based in Yari.ba land as a new child. After all, the same loud mouthed jackasses accepted as truth the western Nigerian regional publication of 1967 that Lt Col Francis Fajuiyi begged the July 29, 1967 coup plotters to die with Ironsi. The same cross-section of Nigerian society had publically claimed every recaptive and returnees as Yoruba even though most of them were clearly identified as Creoles.
