Politics › A Government Of Confusion? by DesChyko(op): 8:49am On May 03, 2016*. Modified: 9:05am On May 03, 2016 |
This is the information that greeted our ears this morning. The Federal Government has resumed the payment of subsidy to petroleum products marketers in an apparent move to check the potential disruption in fuel supply in the wake of the impending strike by petroleum products marketers and other stakeholders. Already, payments based on verified claims were made to various marketers last month according the revenue allocation and distribution report issued at the end of the June meeting of the Federation.
www.premiumtimesng.com/business/93664-government-resumes-subsidy-payment-to-petroleum-marketers.html This is coming less than six months after this The Nigerian Government announced on Friday that it has scrapped the Petroleum Support Fund, also known as fuel subsidy. Speaking to journalists at the Port Harcourt refinery where he had spent Christmas inspecting the facility, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, said the government could no longer pay the subsidy due to the fraud tainting the scheme. He said a new pricing template he signed off on Thursday effectively removed the payment of subsidy on petrol. When pressed on what the new price of petrol would be following the removal of the subsidy, Mr Kachikwu said it would sell for below the current official price, maybe as low as #85 per litre. www.premiumtimesng.com/business/195743-nigeria-scraps-fuel-subsidy-cuts-petrol-price-to-n85-per-litre.html It would appear decisions are being made without expert opinions and analyses. Without any major change in the economic status, yet a major decision is reversed. Do we assume now that the alleged 'fraud' is now non-existent or a more grim reality that Nigeria and her citizens is just being used for experiments at someone's will? |

If this parting comment is paradoxical, I don't think I get it. First, you aim a jib at his constant brownian motion. In the same breath, you suggest that he hikes to Panama? How does that portray the firmness of your opinion?
If there's money to be recovered, it will be in the meantime. But till then, we're yet to see the impact or dividends of the much announced recoveries. |

That's by the way. One problem with No. 6 is that the use of 'Did' as in a question. Since one isn't sure of the answer, expressing the main verb as 'past tense' doesn't make sense since it appears as if one already has knowledge of what he is asking after. In this case, it becomes a redundant question. |

Rapmoney: When people say someone is 'smarting', does it mean they are talking about the skin? You need to be serious. You said there's no such verb as smart. |
Education › Re: 10 English Sentences That Can Make You Appear As A 'Quarter-Baked' Graduate by DesChyko: 11:27am On May 02, 2016 |
Lol.. I take it you don't read much novels. Smarting is also a verb. It's a reaction of a person or the skin to a sharp pain like a whip. |
