if you go back to my post, you will see I clearly stated it's for a single tank. What you plan to do here is bigger so you will have to up your materials to 5 by 3.

Next time, kindly state everything you plan on doing
Thank you all the same. This is my initial post and it was clearly stated.

"Good day and Happy new year to everyone.
Unique thread I must say.

Advise pls:
What strength of material should be used for tank tower for a bungalow that would carry 750 gallons of water at the top and 1250 gallons down?

H channel? What strength?
Galvanised pipe? What strength?

What would they cost?"

it's a single tank and a bungalow. That's a heavy overkill but then it's your money to spend
Okay. Thanks for the advice.

So 4 by 3 throughout would be okay including the base of tank?

3000 litres up and 5000 litres down.

4 by 2 channel will be good for the job. Run away from galvanized pipes right now cause the quality has dropped heavily from what it was before. Depending on your location, budget like #180-250k
Thanks a lot for the response.

Is it an overkill to use H channel 6 by 3 for the frame work (4 vertical legs), 4 by 2 for the horizontal frame work and 3 inches for the tank base?

It's no problem at all sir, that's the purpose of this thread.
The wall may not be screeded if the plaster is smooth but for the best effect, it's best to screed it because the varnish has high sheen and would reflect contours.
Stage 1: screed with base coat. cost estimate per sqm is N640 (at N7000 per drum and N250 per sqm for application).
Stage 2: apply first coat of white marble effect paint as background and apply the chosen colors as the second coat to give the effect. cost estimate per sqm is N700 ( at N7500 per drum and N270 per sqm application)
Stage 3: apply varnish. cost estimate per sqm is N400. (a drum is N15000 and would cover 60 yo 75 sqm for full coat and application may be negotiated with the painter for the rate of normal painter or even lesser).
The multi colored last layer could even be applied like a stucco design by the applier by placing different colors to overlap in wet from on the white background and leveling everything with a trowel. The application is similar to stucco hence the name marble effect but it seems painters refer to it as magic paint.
It's clearer now. Thanks a lot. I appreciate.

gbadexy:
The price I gave earlier is the price I supply my brand of flexcoat plaster used for marble trowel/magic paint application.
The application rate charged by painters is what is different.
Since it's like application of basecoat, the charge would be the same per sqm for basecoat application. Between N250-350 per sqm.
That's average of around N750 per sqm.
For the varnish and application, per sqm would be N400 at the rate of N15000 per drum for varnish and N3000 per 25 sqm room.
The labor cost is estimated and subject to negotiation with the painter.
When they notice that the client is ready, they come down with their charge.
Thanks for the nice attempt at clarification but sincerely it got me more confused. I really want to do this hence my curiosity.

Please, is it possible for you to state it cleary:

What are the materials needed for the marble effect?

For each material, what is the avearge cost and coverage in terms of sqm?

What is the range of cost of labour?

Pls dont be offended
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Destiny27(m): 10:56pm On Aug 29, 2019
gbadexy:
The paint is given a white background and the color effect is applied on it after drying then it's sand papered and varnished.
The paint itself is nothing more than a colored basecoat putty.
The painter I asked for the rate of application said he thought it was marble trowel I asked and not marble effect. The former is made of different colored stones/sand.
The application of the marble effect also known as magic paint is based on negotiation of the whole.
Thanks bro. With the clarification gotten, is the cost of a drum of marble effect paint and its coverage in sqm same as you earlier mentioned, or is it for marble trowel?

gbadexy:
It's like a screeding itself and it doesn't need screeding.
Thanks. It looks very nice.

Seems better in terms of cost when you compare it to screeding + painting vs just the marble effect (i assume there is no initial painting before the marble effect)

This is marble eeffect. it's applied wapplied with a trowel and varnished.
A drum is N7500 and it covers 18 sqm. painters charge N1500 per drum for the application.
That's great. Thanks for the response. May I ask if it's done with or without screeding.

Is there an initial painting before the marble effect?

Good morning great people, I appreciate how we come together to help each other and resolve issues. Hardly a day goes by without me visiting this page to update myself on current issues.
I have had difficult times trying to sort out my leaking roof for about a year now. I contacted a nairalander (name withheld for now) to do my parapet, woodwork and roofing with stone coated sheets. Apparently, he left his workers on the site unsupervised which resulted to a poor job.
The roof has been leaking along the gutters. The pictures are attached (the leaking points marked with chalk from under). He has tried at least 3 times to repair the leaks with sealant, but as at few days ago, it is still leaking from many points.
I was mad at him for leaving the job unsupervised but I don’t want to make issues now until he fails to resolve it. I cant proceed on doing POP until I’m 100% sure there are no leaks. This is really delaying the progress.
Please, aside replacing the sheets which will cost a whole lot of money cos of the places involved, what is the best way to fix these leaks. Please I need your opinions from your experiences. Thanks

You are lucky and should be happy she did not poison you. You lots play too much, why promise her marriage just for sex? When you know that marriage is one thing they all wish and can do anything for.

A lady travelled all the way from Porthacourt to Abuja with her money to see you, kept fvcking you, cleaned your house, did laundry for you, cooked for you and you had the mind to tell her you were joking. Nna nawao, una too like play for this country oo..grin

You are not even a good player, you shouldn't have even told her you were joking immediately she asked when you were planning to see her parents, because she might out of anger, poison or stab you in your sleep and nobody will know what happened.

Simple thing you should have done; Play along with a fake date, allow her travel back, then you dismiss her gradually with attitude, not gambling with your life in your house all because you had your way. Even left her in your house for work?

Well, just like you were joking and playing with marriage promises with her, let's hope she will play and joke with your money.

Imagine! Even after telling her you were joking, she still allowed you fvck her countless times and you thought she was doing it in vain? This guy no just get common sense!! He thought she was shouting "Harder! Harder!" In vain.
Your analysis here is so apt. The guy no just get sense. He should even consider himself lucky.

Good morning professionals
I'm really worried and need an advice.

The pictures attached are the chambers for my house. I got worried because the pipes for water and feaces are in the same chamber.
I called my plumber to inform him and he said that it's the way it's done.
I feel its not safe to do so. It's like running the water pipe through feaces with the fear of contamination.
Now it will be difficult for mortar to cover them.
I need an advice from professional plumbers on how to go about this?
Is this how it should be done?
Is it safe to do so?
Nobody seems to be saying anything about this. Please I need criticisms

This are the criteria that determine the cost of plastering.

One, the location of the building (for instant if the building is located in ogun state and the masons are also base in ogun state then it will be easy for then to come to the site with less transportation cost but if you want then to come to Benin or Ondo to plaster then since you are not giving them transportation fees and is not one or two person that is coming to site to work, we need to calculate the cost of transport to and fro and add it to the initial cost of the work.

One, Extorting, There are some sites that omo onile after they had finished collecting whatever title they want to collect from house owner, they will then bounce on the workers extorting money from then, they will insist the workers will give then certain amount of money to start the plastering, Ajah area are the worse of it, sometime plasterers or contractor we need to know the area where the work will done and add the omo onile money the initial plastering cost, plastering in an estate is more fair comparing to outside an estate.

Three Block works that are not plumb or are usually not done to perfection especially when the bricklayers are not very good, often time, they don't use plumb, the blocks will not stand perfectly vertical, therefore some areas will require more mortar filling to others to compensate for the bad areas, so gauging plastering is what you do to achieve a perfect plain. In doing this some areas will require more mortars than the others, So masons/plasterers will need to use a thin material especially wood with rope to mark out how the plastering will spread round the surface of wall of the building to achieve perfectly vertical walls which is called gauge plastering, so gauging is what you do to achieve a perfect plain. Plastering is usually applied between 15mm to 25mm, but some areas may require more mortar, in such cases, apply cement and sand, leave to dry till the next day before you apply the finished coating of final coating for a smooth surface . I prefer a mixture ratio of 1:5-1:6 for cement, plaster sand mix for this kind of bad block works, and you can see that all of this is going to result in more work for masons/plasters

For this particular 4 bedroom bungalow plastering work.

Plastering will cost you N240, 000 either Lagos or Ogun State inside an estate or outside an estate.

3 Trucks of 20 tons Plaster sand

105 bags of cements

Water
Thanks sir. I appreciate.

it depend on how u want it, u can either award it out as a contract wish they might charge around 150k -200k
or u hire 2 bricklayer and 1 labour which a bricklayer will plaster 2side (wall) in a room, so the two of them will plaster one room In a day. and bricklayer will take 3500-4000 while labour will take 2000.
so depending on your choice.
but I will advice u to award it out as a contract
Thanks sir
