Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, did not betray anyone in the party's presidential primary.

As a loyal partyman, the governor heeded PDP's directives and decisions in all matters concerning the presidential convention.

You can recalled that the Southern Governors Forum in a meeting in Asaba resolved, and later reiterated in subsequent meetings in Lagos meeting and Enugu to work towards the realisation of Southern Presidency.

The Southern Governors' Forum comprised members from various political parties, and that the resolution of the Forum was only a wish which was not intended to be compulsory on all political parties.

When members of the forum returned to their various parties, decisions varied as each political party had different plans to approach the process of electing a presidential candidate.

For us in PDP, the party told the Governors that it may not go with their position because we are in opposition and in order to get it right, the party set up a committee headed by Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, to advise it appropriately on zoning of the ticket.

The Ortom committee, in its wisdom, recommended that zoning be jettisoned to allow all aspirants to participate in the primary to enable the best to emerge.

The committee presented its report to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) where it was agreed to open the presidential ticket to enable for the best hands to emerge as recommended.

As far as we are aware, no member, including the governors or group protested the party’s decision. They all acquiesced and accepted the party’s decision on zoning.

There was no treachery anywhere because no agreement was reached. The party's position prevailed and delegates at the Presidential Primary voted as they wished.

Long after the primaries some persons were still talking about betrayal, I wondered where the G-5 governors were when the Ortom Committee presented its report.

Why didn't they raise their voices against the party’s decision not to zone the ticket to any part and rise against it?

They agreed to it, participated, only to start an agitation without foundation after a candidate had emerged.

I see the G-5 Governors agitation as a distraction and I appeal to them to sheath their sword a beat a retreat as quickly as possible to join the party’s rescue mission.

They remain very senior members of PDP and they remain an important factor because the next election is a low hanging fruit for the PDP to pick if we close ranks. We believe that Nigerians would vote for the party.

On the G-5 governors agitation for the sack of Ayu, it is a constitutional matter which ought to be addressed at the appropriate time.

In Rivers state where Wike holds sway as Governor, the Governorship candidate is from Rivers South and the Chairman of the party in the state is also from Rivers South.

We didn't see Wike tell the party Chairman to step aside because a governorship candidate emerged from same senatorial district with him.

It becomes germane if Atiku emerges President and the party Chairman remains in office. There is no law that compels Ayu to resign because the North has produced the Presidential candidate, unless he decides to step aside on his own volition.

One would have thought that having pursued the agitation without yielding results that they will beat a retreat but if they go ahead to endorse another candidate aside the PDP Presidential candidate, appropriate steps will be taken.

The collision between Atiku and Okowa as Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates is the best combination anyone could ever think of, not just for the PDP but most importantly for Nigeria.

As it stands, Nigeria needs a formidable force of impeccable and flawless leaders who posseses the required intellectual sagacity and leadership prowess filled with unstained wealth of experience to pilot the affairs of the country to it's utmost importance and attainment of dreams.

Wike Taking PDP For Granted

By Godwin Obire

Wike is instigating crisis in the PDP since he lost the presidential primary to Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, and the party’s vice-presidential nomination.

Wike as a sore loser who has impoverished Rivers state through wasteful and expensive inordinate ambitions to remain in power.

It is unacceptable for Wike to continue to embarrass PDP with crude, unruly and bellicose tendencies, attempting to play God.

Wike is a bad-tempered trouble monger. He should stop his recklessness. Enough of his unguarded statements.

Why is he crying everywhere because he lost an election? Who made him an indispensable leader? Does he know how PDP evolved? His agitations are not genuine but selfish.

Wike is gallivanting around the world wasting Rivers state’s money, chasing shadows and in the process, 25 innocent kids died in the state hospital because of lack of electricity in the hospital.

In a civilised society, Wike should have resigned. Indeed, he would be prosecuted for the deaths of these innocent kids. This is unpardonable criminal negligence, yet a power hungry governor like Wike is busy looking for another political office to continue pillaging public resources while his people suffer.

Wike is not fighting for the south. He is greedy. If he was chosen as the VP as he desperately wanted, would he have been complaining that the PDP national chairman, Ayu, should go? Certainly not.

Those who got into offices through fraudulent politics must be cautious in exercising transient authority.

Criminal Mentality Will Not Work Again In Nigeria Reject APC

By Godwin Obire

As the 2023 general elections beckon, Nigerians and people of goodwill should come together and make sure that the APC and its Leadership does not have access to power again. This clarion call becomes necessary because APC is a Party that is made up of strange bedfellows whose political and economic interests are antithetical to the development of Delta State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The struggle for power, "grab-grab" and if "it is not me, it cannot be another person's mentality" of APC Leaders is what has brought Nigeria on her knees today! APC Leaders are like a bird, commonly called "Ukenu" amongst the Isokos of Delta State. The bird, Ukenu does not have the ability to hear what is happening in its environment. When there is danger lurking around its environment, except the danger is coming from the front, Ukenu will fall prey to the danger when it approaches Ukenu from the back!

The above analogy properly fits the APC Leaders. They do not hear the hue and cry of the majority of their followers, and Nigerians who are living in abject poverty! They have "ukenized" themselves to the extent that they care less about their environment (Nigeria).

To show their dangerous and embarrassing level of wickedness, they use their political parrots and emissaries of confusion who have sold their souls to mammon to defend the indefensible; even in the face of a threat to peace and existence of Nigerians!

Because of greed, and in negation of the general interest of the Niger Delta, APC leadership created recipes for failure by not constituting the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the development of the Niger Delta area for almost three years of the APC-led Federal Government. That NDDC was in limbo for that number of years was instigated by APC power mongers and kleptomaniacs from the Niger Delta States whose common interest is feasting on the common patrimony of oil-bearing communities. Today, the common man from Niger Delta is the greatest loser!

In Delta State, some good appointments and projects that could have accrued to Delta State from the Federal Government were scuttled because of the spirit of unforgiveness, myopicness, and Incubus that possessed them. As of today, that deep-seated hatred amongst them is still being fueled to deprive Deltans dividends of democracy from the Federal level. What a people?

At the National level, APC has turned Nigeria into the Headquarters of poverty, insecurity, and joblessness. One of the resultant effects is "japaism" (ambition to travel abroad for menial jobs) by our youths who do not have confidence in our dear Nation, Nigeria! APC leadership takes joy in working at cross purposes against the interest of the majority of Nigerians.

When the halpless President of Nigeria gives orders that have seeming good or interest of ordinary Nigerians, the power mongers and kleptomaniacs in the APC-led Government kills it at embryonic stage!

While the majority of Nigerians applaud the change of currency and cash withdrawal limit policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), APC as a Party is vehemently opposed to it because of the Trillions of Naira (cash in their hands) that is in possession of its leadership that they intended using to buy the conscience of Nigerians during the 2023 elections. APC and its emissaries of rifts, manufacturers of extreme poverty, and creators of joblessness shall surely fail.

Nigeria cannot continue to be mocked in the international arena because of APC's devilish, "movoriole", crab mentality and clueless leadership. Nigerians should wake up from their slumber, and let us reset Nigeria for the good of all and generations yet unborn.

Godwin Obire blast Orubebe Over Statement Against Okowa and PDP

By point-blank Magazine

Wednesday December 28, 2022.

Delta human right activist and national coordinator Concern Nigerians For Better Nigeria (CNBN) who is also former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president and current senior special assistant SSA Political to governor Ifeanyi Okowa. Olorogun Godwin Obire from Agbarho Orhokpokpo.

On wednesday, said that former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs who doubles as director general of the Delta state chapter of the All Progressive Congress governorship campaign council. Elder Godsday Orubebe benefited immensely from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a “super minister” under former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Godwin Obire while reacting to the outburst by Orubebe who accused the Delta state governor, Senator Ifeany Okowa of marginalizing the Ijaw ethnic group.

Obire accused the former minister of embarking on a selfish agenda under the guise of the Ijaw nation in desperation to bring in fraudulent people in constituted authority in a bid to loot and siphon our resources for self aggrandizement just like the case of Niger Delta Ministry and all the billions allocated to the ministry of Niger Delta under Orubebe leadership for seven years specifically inrespect of the east west road.

He said: Orubebe should not be taken serious. It is the same PDP that he benefited from as a super minister for 7years and was one of the three powerful ministers under Jonathan, yet he did not use his position to attract any level of development to his community that is bedevilled with poverty and underdevelopment what happened to the billions of naira that was allocated for the construction of east west road?.”

On Orubebe’s alleged marginalization of the Ijaws in Delta State by the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Obire said: “Orubebe actually wanted to impose himself on Okowa as the number one leader of the Ijaw nation in Delta state in desperation to enable him bring in some questionable characters into constituted authorities in the forthcoming election which was turned down; hence he decided to use the Ijaw nation as a guise to attack the governor.

“All the political appointments by Okowa for the past seven and half years and the sharing of the dividends of democracy by the government of Delta state have been fair on all sides and there is no marginalization as alleged by Orubebe

“As a minister, he failed and his outburst is ill motivated, done in a bad light and is a selfish personal outburst using the Ijaw people as a cover which will not make anyone becomes governor through the back door”

Okowa and DESOPADEC: Wonders By The Rivers

By Godwin Obire

Development comes in different forms, according to needs. Some persons only judge by what they see in major towns and cities but, for a state as wide, expansive and complex as Delta, development goes far deeper.

For the riverine communities in Itsekiri and Ijaw lands, for instance, their needs are different from those upland.

It was therefore astonishing to see what Governor Okowa and the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission are doing to meet the critical needs of the people.

In the Itsekiri area, two major projects stand out: The Floating Market at Ugheye and the Twin New Towns of Oboghoro and Utonlila, some two hours boat ride from Koko, in Warri North.

The Floating Market is a wonder. It is a deliberately designed trading centre, complete with lock-up shops, stalls, a huge landing jetty and water and electricity projects, to serve the cluster of settlements along the Benin River.

The floating market now will enable traders from the cities to conveniently interact with the local riverine people at a one-shop place and that goes to boost commercial and economic life of the creek people.

But, you haven't seen nothing yet until you get to the Twin New Towns being built by DESOPADEC at Oboghoro and Utonlila communities. It is an attempt to build city life on reclaimed river for the rural, swamp dwellers.

The towns are complete with phased housing projects, concrete roads, rural electrification and generation plants, water treatment plants, landing jetty, foreshore protection, primary and full boarding school, cottage hospitals, doctor and nurses quarters, event centres and connected with a bridge.

It is such that the people can enjoy any critical facility that is available in the cities. This project provides economic and investment opportunities, checks rural to urban migration and the people are happy.

Interestingly, P-Square is billed to stage a show at Oboghoro, by the river, this Christmas.

The only thing I have found curious is: Why does Okowa not publicise these landmark legacies and achievements?

I stand with Atiku on Managing Critical Sectors

By Godwin Obire

The conversation over the sales of non-productive national concerns have always been on but, most times, partisan interests tend to diminish logical reasoning.

It is perhaps for this reason that some persons miss the point when HE Atiku Abubakar says he will sell off the refineries and various other redundant and non-productive national concerns.

But let's look at it dispassionately. We have crude oil and have had about four refineries in the country, yet we have been importing petroleum products for almost 35 years. The refineries only functioned efficiently or effectively in the 70s to mid 80s. Since from the late 80s through the 90s and into the new millennium, we have been importing petroleum products, first in bridging quantity but now in full quantity.

We had the same experience with Nigeria Airways, Nigeria National Shipping Line, NEPA, NITEL, Nigeria Railway Corporation etc etc.

Any way you look at it, their collapse attest to the fact that such businesses are not for government but for private sector businessmen and investors while the duty of government is to provide the enabling environment with policies that support businesses and investors as well as monitoring to protect consumers.

We all saw how it was with NITEL before it was unbundled to give room for private investments in the telecommunication sector by which the ordinary people now have access to telephony.

In the case of the refineries, they are not producing, yet, we allocate funds for their yearly renovation and quarterly turn around maintenance. Isn't that so clearly unreasonable, if not even foolish?

We also saw how, in 2012, the APC mobilised citizens to kick against the removal of subsidy suggested by President Goodluck Jonathan. They said there is nothing like subsidy, that they will bring down fuel pump price and blablu bulabu.

At last, through their administration, not only did the expenditure on subsidy escalate from about N1.5 trillion under Jonathan and the PDP to almost N6 trillion under Buhari and the APC, but the pump price also rose from N87 under the PDP to N145 and now between N250 and N300 per litre under Buhari and the APC. The price of diesel and kerosene are even most untenable. Worse still, most petrol stations are dry, without products.

Clearly, they told us lies, just to win the election, after which we are all suffering.

This is why, I stand with Atiku for telling us the truth from the beginning, that he will sell the refineries and such other non-functioning, non-productive assets to private investors who will manage them with clear sense of business, just like we are celebrating the advent Dangote Refinery today.

Truly, government has to hands off many businesses because it is not its function. Besides the issue of corruption, public servants do not guide the businesses with sense of purpose and commitment.

There has been an attempt to unbundle NEPA but government is still holding on to some aspects.

The behemoth of a National Grid remains wrong. Why would we need to generate electricity and pass it through one long grid before it can get to consumers? We have seen various establishments generate, transmit and distribute electricity to their local communities. It is similarly possible for investors to do the same across states and LGAs without recourse to one National Grid.

As we can see, Nigeria Airways has been dead but our domestic aviation is running through private airlines. The problem they have is now the supply of aviation fuel, and that is because it is still largely controlled by government.

If we had had private investments in the downstream before now, this issue would long have been a thing of the past.

As a people, we should be wiser now to embrace a candidate who understands the issues across various critical sectors and honest and bold enough to tell us the truth of what actions he will take, rather than the lies and propaganda which the APC fed us with and for which we all now suffer.

Atiku is more logical, more reasonable, more matured and more experienced to lead, rescue and reset Nigeria at this time.

Ede Dafinone Unfit To Represent Urhobo Nation Amori Is The Solution We Need.

By Godwin Obire from Agbarho Orhokpokpo

Ede Dafinone cannot win councilorship position in any unit in Urhobo nation. Is an Alien we don't know him, so don't be deceived by those who defrauded Okumagba and sold out Urhobo inrespect of NDDC Chairmanship appointment. Amori is the solution we need.

Following the antecedent of Ighoyota Amori and Ede Dafinone, these are two different individuals that are not compatible in anywhere politically and otherwise. Amori will beat Ede hands down come 2023. This is a pure fact not an exaggeration.

Amori is more credible and competent to represent Delta central senatorial district at the Senate than any other aspirant.

His track record are there for the whole urhobo nation to see. Bringing Ede Dafinone to contest with Ighoyota Amori is a very big insult to majority of Urhobo's because what Amori have achieved for Urhobo's within a short period of time, Ede can never achieved it.

Who are the people Ede has empowered in the history of Urhobo nation and what are there names? Even Ovie Omo Agege is a beneficiary of Ighoyota Amori benevolence.

Remove the father's name "Dafinone" from his names. Who knows Ede? Who is Ede? He is just making noise with the name of his late father, we don't know him, is an Alien as far Urhobo nation is concern.

Someone that can not even communicate with our local dialect. He only comes around when it is election period to mislead gullible followers who are not abreast with happenings in Delta central senatorial district

Ede per say cannot even win ordinary councilor ship position in any unit not to talk of winning a single local government in the forthcoming delta central senatorial election.

The entire Urhobo are behind Ighoyota Amori. Amori knows the game and this time around they will know how prepared we are. Amori will defeat him even in his polling unit.

2023: Amori Will Win In All The Local Government – APF

The Amori Political Front (APF), has predicted that Ighoyota Amori will win all the local government that makes Urhobo nation in the Delta central senatorial election.

Ighoyota Amori is the senatorial flagbearer of the PDP

The National chairman of the group. Olorogun Godwin Obire, from Agbarho Orhokpokpo made the prediction on Tuesday in an interview on Delta Broadcasting Service Tv

“APC is not even on the ballot because its strength is only in Orogun and Ugehelli, which has been eroded by the nepotistic character of Ovie Omo Agege, The next strength of APC is in Agbarho. With communities like Orhokpokpo and others with the highest number of voting strength in Agbarho not supporting APC due to the clannishness of Ovie Omo Agege and continuous shortchangement of this various communities by the APC senatorial representative, the Agbarho and Ugehelli is gone,” he said.

“The Osu is completely Amori because he will win Uvwie, Sapele and Okpe 100% including the governorship and presidential election in this areas and the entire delta central.

“Amori will win Udu local government, specifically DSC township, and will also win Aladja, Ovwian, Emadadja, Egini, Obubu, Ubogo, Oleri, Oto Udu, Ogbe Udu, Ukpiovwin, Ukperheren, Ayama, Ekrota, Ugbisi, Owhrode, Ekete Oboto, Ekete Uburhie, Okolo Uburhie, Okolo Oboto, Ovworhokpokpo, Erhiephiho, Egiegi, Epame, Ujevwu, Oghior, Ohwase. All combined, they have over hundred thousand voters.

“Amori will poach the Ethiopes and even part of
Agbon, Abraka, and Isiokolo.

“I assure you that all Urhobo's who desire sense of belonging, freedom, development, progress, health services, have no other person to vote for than Chief Ighoyota Amori.”

Amori Going To Senate To Re-Invent Urhobo Nation Where All The kingdom Will Have Sense Of Belonging – Obire

Point-blank Magazine

Friday, December 9, 2022.

The senior special assistant (SSA Political) to governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state who doubles as national chairman of the Amori Political Front (APF) for Delta Central senatorial district. Olorogun Godwin Obire, from Agbarho Orhokpokpo has said that Amori's mission to the Senate is to re-invent Urhobo nation where every kingdom will have sense of belonging just as he said that Ighoyota Amori has volunteered to lead the struggle for good representation in the senate devoid of chronic nepotism and clannishness

In a statement by the Amori Political Front (APF) the former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president stated that. Chief Ighoyota Amori is determined to recover and transform the nature of representation from its current clannish medieval status.

According to him “ Amori's mission as a Senator is to reinvent Delta central senatorial district and to restore its previous place of pride, so that the senatorial district could survive and thrive on a larger Nigerian context. Without doubt, Urhobo nation has been through a horrible wilderness experience in the past seven and half years senatorial representation of senator Ovie Omo Agege, Our reputation as a people has been sullied and have become the butt of jokes due to the crass ineptitude, loquacious ignorance, extreme nepotism, clannishness and ravenous corruption masquerading as senatorial representative of Urhobo nation in the last seven and half years under the All Progressive Congress (APC)

Amori decision to engineer a liberation process from the Senate is motivated by an unmitigated indignation against clannish trends and criminal tendencies, which have collapsed the sacred institutions of the senate as far representation of Urhobo nation is concerned, to the extent that Delta central has become a failed senatorial district due to clannish representation at the Senate. Amori Legislative agenda is designed to change all these, and to put in place a new, qualitative representation whereby all the 24 kingdoms will have sense of belonging.

“As we move to run and win the Senate seat of Delta central senatorial district of Delta State, Amori mission is to recover and transform the nature of representation from its current clannish medieval status. Amori vision is to introduce a quality and quantitative representation based on democratic representation of giving all the 24 kingdoms that makes up Urhobo nation sense of belonging, transparency and good governance.

“In these, Amori is inspired by the fear of God and personal abilities. His plan of action to actualize and realize this target is guided by the Nigerian Constitution and the democratic principles of our electoral act of 2022. Based on divine inspiration, conviction and persuasion to represent Delta central senatorial district out of poor representation orchestrated by the clannishness of Ovie Omo Agege, to a new age of quality and quantitative representation.

Obire declared that “ Amori volunteer to lead the struggle for good senatorial representation of Urhobo nation in the state from the Senate. Judging from the provisions of the Nigeria constitution on the imperatives for participation, based on personal credentials and antecedents, Olorogun Ighoyota Amori is supremely qualified and sufficiently prepared to run and win the Delta central senatorial district race, 2023, by the grace of God.

“History has shown that when a people are well organized, strong, disciplined, focused and united, talented and creative leaders emerge to take them to higher levels of achievement. But where the people are torn from within by indiscipline, mercenary motives, disloyalty and lack of transparency, the senatorial district enters an age of troubles.

Speaking further the senior special assistant (SSA Political) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state. Godwin Obire, pointed out that “in context, the leadership we demand in Delta central senatorial district as we approach 2023 is a collective enterprise that borders on the division of labour and separation of powers. This explains why I believe that politics is like a baby that cannot be delivered by only a palm. But for the successful delivery of a child, for example, all hands must be on deck since the ocean is the product of drops of water we can not be second class in our own communities.

Like developmental strides which signifies good governance and protection for all, without prejudice to race, region, religion, generation or gender, the aims, objectives and functions of Amori Political Front (APF) 2023 are broad enough to shield diverse democratic inclinations and demands in all sectors of life in Delta Central senatorial District including the economy, culture, education, agriculture, health, social welfare delivery etc.

“Amori's courage is stems from a firm belief in God as a Christian. Therefore, He pledge to represent Delta Central District with emphasis on inclusiveness, transparency, honesty and accountability in public affairs, a policy of genuine generosity and human capacity development based on the golden rule of good equity and fairness to all kingdom that makes up Urhobo nation. As an Urhobo, Amori has also pledge to pursue the granite values of the Urhobo people, predicated on harmony, unity, achievement - oriented, merit, prudence in the management of scare human resources, culture of perseverance and ability to overcome hardship and set - backs, the sacrifice of personal convenience for the collective good.

Obire stated that “Amori as a servant leader of Urhobo people, shall operate with humility and modesty, the spirit of service and sacrifice, rigorous commitment to cause, community, state and nation, and other cultural traits that mark the political behavior of people from this part of the nation, such as loyalty to constituted authority and legitimate leadership at the three tiers of governance in the Federal Republic of Nigeria constitution.

In these, Amori pledge allegiance to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the good people of Delta Central senatorial District, Delta State and Nigeria at large.

A former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president who doubles as current senior special assistant (SSA Political) to governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state and chairman Concerned Nigerians For Better Nigeria (CNBN) Olorogun Godwin Obire (JP) from Agbarho Orhokpokpo in Ugehelli North local government area of Delta state, has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to immediately kick out Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities.

It’s no longer news that Wike has been at loggerheads with the Party over the outcome of the Party’s presidential primaries a few months ago.

Obire has had enough, basically: Speaking on the matter, the Delta State politician and spokesperson of Orhokpokpo community for in Delta central said he could not stand and watch Wike destroy the party.

“Wike is trying to destroy a house we all built. Yes, he was not nominated as presidential candidate of the PDP, he also lost out in his quest to be the vice presidential candidate and we all participated in the whole process. It was very transparent; he spent so much money. I know that, he outspent virtually everybody else. He did; he out-spent Atiku but the battle was fought and won or lost as the case may be.

“But that is not a reason to pull down his own party. He has taken his vendetta too far. His current fight is selfish; it is of personal interest. It does not matter how he tries to colour it or whatever he calls it. The only question I always ask is, what if Wike has been chosen by Atiku and he is campaigning with Atiku as Atiku is doing now, will he in the same bend be asking the national chairman to resign or go? Of course, he will just be campaigning with Atiku and others, that alone tells you that his fight is self-centered,” Obire said.

He continued; “I am a stakeholder in PDP. If somebody wishes to destroy the country as we know it today, any Nigerian who sees himself as a Nigerian has an obligation to stop that destruction if there is a way he can prevent it or discourage it, so every Nigerian is a stakeholder in this body called Nigeria, you don’t need to be a president, governor or minister to be considered a minister, that is very demeaning to the ordinary Nigerian.

“Every Nigerian is a stakeholder and has every right to stop the destruction of this country. He should be kick out. He has done enough damage, there is nothing more Wike can do; he has been trying to use all manner of tactics to intimidate, just to grandstand, all he need to do now is to wait for election and direct his people to vote for another party.”

Recall that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his Benue, Enugu, Abia and Oyo State counterparts, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu and Seyi Makinde, respectively, fell out with the presidential candidate over the demand for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Wike and the four other aggrieved governors had vowed that until Ayu quits his position as National Chairman of the party, they would withhold their support for the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in 2023.

APC will be defeated at the presidency and it will remain opposition in Delta – Obire

Point-blank Magazine

Thursday, December 1, 2022

The National chairman of Concerned Nigerians For Better Nigeria (CNBN) former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president federal republic of Nigeria. Olorogun Ovie Omo Agege, who also doubles as senior special assistant (SSA Political) to governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state. Olorogun Godwin Obire (JP) from Agbarho Orhokpokpo, today said the All Progressives Congress, APC, will be defeated at the national and it will remain an opposition in Delta State for many years to come.

He said this is because of clueless leadership and anti-people, socioeconomic policies that have ruined the robust economy inherited from the PDP government in 2015.

Obire berated the APC for the unjust criticisms of the laudable projects and socioeconomic development so far embarked upon and diligently executed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

Obire, who was a guest at the Delta Broadcasting Television, Asaba, made the assertion today.

“APC in Delta State will continue to unjustly complain as an opposition, which is expected, and it will remain in opposition in the state for many years to come as a renowned complainant and blame game party.

“PDP is in full strength and capacity Sheriff Oborevwori is the next governor and Atiku is the next President of Nigeria. The leadership under our amiable Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, will certainly take back our country from the propaganda party, APC, in 2023,” he said.

Obire, who is the spokesman of Orhokpokpo community in Agbarho kingdom, Ugehelli North Local Government Area, said projects executed by the Okowa-led PDP in the state will stand the test of time in terms of quality, size and durability.

He commended Governor Okowa for his visionary leadership.

According to Obire, the governor’s administration legacy projects, especially the N20 billion Obi Chike Edozien State Mega Secretariat housing 27 ministries, departments and agencies of government with in-built 1,000 capacity car park space, banks, mini-hospital, creche, shopping mall, business centres, centralised internal connectivity and 8.5 Mega Watts IPP Power supply, attests to the governor’s ingenuity.

Obire noted that the state secretariat, occupying a whopping 45,000 meters of land space, situated along Marian Banbagida Way, in the state capital, will for a long time remain the best in Nigeria.

He said it takes the spirit of excellence and prudent management of resources to execute a project of that magnitude at a time the nation’s economy radically nose dived due to mismanagement of the nation’s economy by the ailing national government of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Governor Okowa is a visionary leader and his monumental legacy projects attest to this fact. The state secretariat is second to none in Nigeria. He constructed and rehabilitated so many roads which is why he’s Nigeria’s Roadmaster and nice vice president by God grace.

“There are other projects too numerous to mention because I have lost count. He has been able to tenaciously build on the foundation laid by Chief James Ibori and Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, and this is commendable and worthy of emulation,” he added.

Ede Dafinone Has No Base in Delta central - Obire boasts

Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

Former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president. Ovie Omo Agege who doubles as current senior special assistant (SSA Political) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state. Olorogun Godwin Obire, from Agbarho Orhokpokpo has said those promoting nepotism, clannishness to win the 2023 senatorial election will fail.

Obire also said the senatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Delta central senatorial district. Ede Dafinone, has no base in Urhobo nation specifically in Sapele

He expressed this concern at an interview with journalists yesterday in Sapele after inaugurating the Sapele chapter of the Amori United Front, a group canvassing support for the Delta central senatorial candidate of the PDP, Chief Ighoyota Amori.

According to him, Urhobo's especially, in the Sapele local government have suffered so much under the APC senatorial leadership/ administration of Ovie Omo Agege and would not be swayed by clannish sentiments during the elections by voting an alien who knows nothing about the plight of the people.

He explained that those brainwashing our people with sentiments “to get votes, this time around it will not work because everything has changed.

“APC promised to provide inclusiveness and so many other things, but they have failed in giving sense of belonging to all the kingdoms that makes up Urhobo nation with their primitive nepotism and clannishness

“Urhobo's are looking for somebody who is competent, somebody with the capacity to unite and address the problems facing Delta central senatorial district.”

He said the Urhobo nation has the highest voting population, adding the senatorial district will support the PDP massively.

“The APC has nothing to offer Urhobo's, this time around, we will give the PDP senatorial candidate, Ighoyota Amori massive votes. The PDP is the only hope of the people”, he said.

He dismissed the recent prediction by some induced politicians in APC, that Ede Dafinone candidate of the APC, will win the senatorial district saying, “it is a mere prediction from APC. “

He declared that, “There is no way Ede Dafinone will win this election, (because) he has no base here in (Delta central).

“Ede Dafinone is an alien who knows nothing about us. We need somebody who will unity Urhobo, we need somebody who have political base across the 24 kingdoms that makes up Urhobo nation.

“Those who are comparing Ede Dafinone with Ighoyota Amori to me, they are committing political sin.

“If you go across urhobo kingdoms, there are alot of people Amori has empowered with government contracts and political appointment since inception of this forth republic. What is the scorecard of Ede? Ede Dafinone is just mingling and interacting with people that are occupying political positions.

“He has no base at the grassroots. Nobody knows him at the grassroots, but Ighoyota Amori is a household name at the grassroots, not only in the Delta central senatorial district, but across the country.”

Obire also advised Ede Dafinone, to step down for Ighoyota Amori and don't be deceived by political jobbers who collected five billion from a prominent son of urhobo in return for the position of NDDC chairman but ended up defrauding same.

Politics › Intentional Concealment Of Fact By APC To Induce Nigerians For Electoral Gains W by Details0987(op): 2:20pm On Nov 28, 2022
Intentional concealment of fact by APC to induce Nigerians for electoral gains wickedness

By Godwin Obire

I want to say as long as development and governance are concerned, APC has not achieved anything and the answer to that question is in the street, you don’t need to go a distance before you know that the APC government is a failure; they have lost the confidence of the people because their performance is grossly below expectation.

They came and deceived the people, created an impression that they are going to be a better government, abused the mind of the people, and set people against the PDP government, unknown to the people they never knew that they were preparing to enter one chance.

But the good thing is whatever has a beginning has an end; I want the people not to think too much but to prepare themselves ahead of 2023, so they can do away with the confusion created by the APC in Nigeria.

The security challenges in our country is in a high proportion; it is something that Nigerians can’t explain; in Somalia, only 92 persons died of cholera, and the people came out and reacted by refusing to celebrate their National day but in Nigeria, thousands are being killed in one community; in fact, in the President’s State of Katsina and nothing is done about it.

The president often times gives orders that are not carried out and nothing appeared to happen; no one is fired but rather rewarded by reappointing them for the job not done.

We cannot say there was no insecurity in the country during the PDP government but what we are seeing presently is 10 times higher than what was happening then; thousands of lives are being lost in all the regions of the country. Nigeria is more divided along ethnicity, religion, and tribes; nobody has confidence in the government except those that are benefiting.

Yet, the national assembly is propagating a law to take away small river in my village, that they will take over or control all the rivers in the country. Every water phase will be the property of the Federal Government to regulate the affairs of the water route.

There are already existing perceptions about this government on land grabbing and coming up with such a law will create an impression that the government wants to permit herdsmen across, knowing fully that the government of the present administration is on its exit in the next six months; why in a rush to implement such law at the time Nigerians are demanding for restructuring.

Nigeria is bigger than one person’s ambition, when the people are clamouring for the devolution of power to States and Local Governments, the present government is busy planning to take over water from the river and streams to the Federal Government because of some group's belief.

That is why like minds of the President are always seeking opportunities to be part of the Federal Government so they can take State assets for themselves, using the Federal Government law.

I must say that this administration has caused a lot of confusion in Nigeria; the division, lack of trust is enough to stop them not to go beyond 2023. In fact, even the northern unity we used to enjoy, this administration has put it in a coma. We need a political surgeon to revive this National unity and that is the Atiku/Okowa's ticket.

The economy today, if you have ten thousand dollars in your house, you will not want to touch it because it is perceived to be gold; it is now an investment when you have dollars; this government has completely messed up the reputation of the Naira.

I remember when they were accusing the then-PDP government led by Goodluck Jonathan, saying they would adjust the dollar rate even when it was then =N=150; has it happened? It is also on record that the APC said during campaigns that in six months, if they can’t change the system, the people should stone them.

“Stone us if we didn’t fix the economy, security and kill corruption”

It is painful that until this time, they are still giving people reasons to leave them for another 8 years, how could that be?

When they could not fix any as said, they are rather shamefully accusing PDP of being responsible for their failure, saying that it was the foundation laid by the PDP.

The people are now paying the price for that accusation; nothing has changed in Nigeria; the foreign reserve is empty, and nobody could tell you about what the country’s reserve is right now.

Corruption is the worst of it all; it is either Python is stealing money here, or snake swallowing, or termites having their own shares, and all these are said without remorse or shame as if they don’t go to church or mosque.

The APC had undermined Nigerians when it comes to stealing and deceit; this administration has more scores when it comes to corruption. Do you recall that it is in this administration that a sitting governor was captured putting dollars inside Babanriga and nobody said anything? In fact, the nickname of corruption in this government is that NOTHING IS NEW.

I think what should be done is to stone the APC out through the ballot papers because they have further caused more damage to Nigerians.

…says former commissioner has been in touch with urhobo nation for 40 years

Orhokpokpo Agbarho in Ugehelli north local government area of Delta central senatorial district has declared. Chief Ighoyota Amori as its senatorial candidate for 2023 general elections.

By the declaration, the community has asked other Urhobo's who have either indicated interest or jostling for the plum office in All political platform across board to shelf their ambitions.

The spokesperson of Orhokpokpo community. Olorogun Godwin Obire, gave the advice while speaking in Agbarho on thursday.

Obire, a grassroot mobilizer and human right activist also enjoined all other candidates in Delta central senatorial district and indeed, all parties to support Amori.

In a statement made available to press, he said that. Ighoyota Amori, who is a former commissioner of Delta from 1999 to 2007 is not a nepotistic character like others who are aliens that knows little or nothing about the pains of our people & can not even understand, speak or communicate with the urhobo language, submitting that. Amori, will serve the interest of all the 24 kingdoms that makes up urhobo nation as the senator of delta central in 2023.

"Chief Ighoyota Amori is a core politician who understands what politics entails, an illustrious son of the Urhobo nation. The Otota of Mosogar Kingdom, fondly called ODIDIMADI OF THE UNIVERSE by his teeming political supporters and associates, is a character that is worthy of emulation by all those who seek to make impact in society.

Obire noted that Chief Amori is a politician with many colours and has the ability to deploy multifaceted strategies to achieve political objectives for urhobo nation while pursuing well-planned goals, adding that his personal experiences with the political colossus clearly revealed his deep-rooted multifaceted leadership styles not commonly found in other political leaders.

Obire, further asserted that Amori’s loyalty to the Urhobo nation & her people over the years is heartwarming, which earned him the dearest position of the best among those aspiring for the senatorial seat at the national assembly

"Chief Amori is indeed a big political masquerade not to be compared with aliens who has add no value to the wellbeing of our people. His enviable contributions towards the growth of Urhobo nation is in the public domain & has attracted alot of admirers specifically those who wants the betterment of Delta central senatorial district.

And as a leader of many colours, he sure knows his games and onions in the political scheme of things, which is why is of paramount importance to Urhobo nation specifically Orohokpokpo to continue to align & queue behind Ighoyota Amori going forward to change the ugly narrative and give her people sense of belonging only the best is good enough to be in public office. Amori is the best.

The spokesperson said that the community wishes to state emphatically that going forward, Orhokpokpo community won’t support a clannish political party and a nepotistic candidate like those parading themselves as senatorial candidate in some political platforms. It is about trust and who can truly defend Urhobo nation.

“In 2023, we won’t support any clannish candidate like we did before out of sentiments; Amori has what it takes to lead Urhobo nation in the red chamber. He knows Urhobo too well having been in close and brotherly relationship with the 24 kingdoms that makes up urhobo nation in the past 40 years. We won’t support someone that would emerge and destabilize Urhobo's.

“It is important they step down now and adopt Ighoyota Amori, because the Orhokpokpo community won’t support them. Politics is a game of interest, and Ighoyota Amori is the interest of Orhokpokpo and millions of other Urhobo's across party lines,” Obire said.

We are going to deliver Amori hundred percent is the best for Delta central- Godwin Obire

Monday 28 November 2022

Olorogun Godwin Obire, from Agbarho Orhokpokpo is a seasoned politician, senior special assistant (SSA Political) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president. Ovie Omo Agege. In this interview, he states his desire to continue to stand for the people of Delta Central Senatorial District to ease their suffering through supporting of the best candidate to represent urhobo nation in the Senate.

Why do you say Amori is the best candidate and how are you prepared to deliver Ighoyota Amori?

Well, We am prepared very well. I am ready with our people to ensure that chief Ighoyota Amori win in all the eight local governments that make up Delta Central. We have map out the best strategy to capture every unit and ward in all the local governments in Delta Central Senatorial District and we are seriously committed to it as you can see in our ward to ward meetings/campaign

Amori was once in the Senate what do you think Amori will do differently this time around?

Yes, within the few months Amori stayed in the Senate, he made enormous impact. Amori started very well and our people who gave Amori the mandate know that he never disappointed them within the seven months he was there. Areas of Amori development blueprint which he started then, he will revisit them to see how the senate can implement some of them to improve the standard of our people. Specifically, Amori will look into how to revive some of our companies that have folded up, like the Delta Steel Company (DSC), Ovwian – Aladja, in Udu Local Government of Delta State and Sapele Sea Port, to create jobs for the people. Ighoyota Amori representation is for the people and he will do everything possible to ensure that they have the very best representation in the Senate. The people of Delta Central know the pedigree and past records of Ighoyota Amori when it comes to human capital development. Amori is not nepotistic like others, he will create inclusive leadership that will provide the enabling environment for local and small scale businesses to thrive. You know, one cannot do this without security. Amori will drive security by working with the state and Federal Government, to boost the confidence of the people in carrying out their daily activities.

Amori opponent in the All Progressives Congress (APC) is coming from a formidable background. Do you think Amori have what it will take to defeat him?

You are very funny that APC candidate is an alien we don't know him someone that can not speak our local dialect. How do you expect him to communicate with our people? as far urhobo is concern there's no comparison between Amori and anyone in the senatorial race. Amori having the pedigree to defeat anyone in the senatorial race is understatement. Amori has paid his dues in the Urhobo Project. The APC candidate is not a match, our people know what Amori can do if given the opportunity. The records are there for everyone to verify from the time Ighoyota Amori, was appointed as Commissioner of Education; Water Resources; Development; Political Adviser and Senior Political Adviser; Chairman, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency and other offices where he have served one way or the other. He believe in service delivery and putting the needs of the people first in all. I know there could be challenges. But, I am very sure and confident of victory for Ighoyota Amori at the end of the election because the people know Amori. I live and relate with them. It is interesting that this time around, there will be no rigging. The people have the constitutional power to choose and make the best choice and I do not think there is anyone more qualified than Amori to represent Delta Central at this very time. We are going into the election with the backing of the people who believe strongly in Ighoyota Amori, style of leadership. Educationally, morally, culturally and in terms of exposure. Amori have all the requisite knowledge and capacity, if the election will be fair, free and credible, which I believe INEC is doing everything possible to ensure the election meets acceptable standards.

Do you think that the Urhobo people can still trust Ighoyota Amori with their votes?

Yes, 100% for sure. Amori is our own. Amori don’t have questionable character that could lead to a breach of trust. Amori have always represented the interest of the people in every office and Amori will replicate the gesture of their magnanimity, if the mandate to represent Delta Central is given to him. Amori is a man who believes in the sustainability of our cultural heritage. Amori will continue to stand for the people by providing the best leadership that will ease the suffering and pains within the senatorial district.

What are some of the things that stand out for which the Urhobo people should cast their votes for Amori?

The Urhobo people knows Ighoyota Amori very well. His antecedent is like a picture. They are not hidden from all those who have lived or followed up with the political trends since 1999 till date. Amori records of good stewardship are there from the time he served as Commissioner for Education and Water Resources. Under Ighoyota Amori as Commissioner for Education, there was massive infrastructural transformation in the entire education and water resources sectors. Amori created four higher institutions, including three polytechnics and a College of Education. The bursary Delta students are enjoying today was a product of Ighoyota initiative and so many countless reformation in our education. I am very confident that no other candidate matches is antecedent. He have served our people as Political Adviser to Chief James Onanefe Ibori, Uduaghan and three National Chairman of PDP. He will continue to serve them in every opportunity or any capacity

Clarity Inrespect Of The Fabricated Lies Against Okubor by Fejiro Oliver

Who Is Dr Festus Goziem Okubor?

By Godwin Obire

The fabricated storyline by the deputy senate president paid writer Fejiro Oliver to put a hole in the integrity of Dr Festus Goziem Okubor and rubbish his hard earned reputation is dead on arrival.

Fejiro Oliver records is in the public domain well known by everyone as a propaganda and a political blackmailer who has gone to prison for libelous charges. In his usual satanic lying tongue to please is paymaster and market what my people referred to as bad market. He went extra miles in attempt to assassinate a character that is worthy of emulation by all those who seek to make impact in society in the person of Dr Festus Goziem Okobor.

He said Dr. "Okubor is serving a lifetime ban from the practice of medicine from the Nigerian Medical And Dental Council for the alleged crime of the rape of a married patient on the diagnostic table. He also alleged that Festus Okubor fled from Bauchi under the cover of the night to escape public lynching after raping the sick woman".

Fejiro Oliver secret reporter is a media outlet for propaganda and cheap blackmail. It is a criminal act for Secret Reporters championed by a well known blackmailer Mr. Oghenedoro Ortega AKA Fejiro Oliver to make false publication against the Dr Okubor the write-up by Fejiro is not only barbaric but malicious and mischievous sponsored by wind chasers.

Claiming that Dr. Festus Okubor is serving a lifetime ban from the practice of medicine from the Nigeria Medical And Dental Council for the alleged rape of a married patient and other unpredictable allegations by Fejiro Oliver against Dr Festus Okubor can best be describe as a complete false and a mere propaganda from the pit of hell.

This petty and fabricated lies has expose the fact that Fejiro Oliver who is the head of Secrets Reporters is not only a complete blackmailer, liar and a dubious solidified criminal who only feeds through the blackmail of innocent people in society. This claim is a clear indication that criminality & blackmailing reasoning has overshadowed the mentality of Fejiro Oliver.

Fejiro has over the years remained an Insensitive Blackmailer, dubious criminal who sniff money out of his victims, foolish in reasoning and lack professional knowledge on journalism. Though Mr. Fejiro Oliver has made several attempt to get the attention of Festus Okubor but unfortunately for him, he does not know that Okubor can't be distracted by unfounded allegations, insinuations, brazen blackmails and the putrid smear campaign championed by Fejiro in the expectations of financial rewards.

The general public should ignore the orchestrated attempts by Fejiro Oliver to sully the integrity of Innocent Nigerians who are being tarred with the brush of blackmail without any concrete evidence. In time to come Fejiro will realised that all his sponsored malicious effort against Dr Festus Okubor is a wasted effort and will not yield him that which he desperately seek. Let me do a little introduction of the personality of Dr Festus Goziem Okubor.

Who is Dr. Okubor?

Dr. Okubor hails from Ute-Erumu in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta state.
He is revered in his hometown for his education, honesty and truthfulness.
As a pious and devout Christian, Dr. Okubor single-handedly built St. Michaels parish, an ultra-modern Anglican Church for the worship of God and handed it over to the Anglican Communion.

Born in October 1960 at Ute-Erunmu to the late School Principal, Festus Okubor (Snr.), and Madam Grace Okubor. Dr. Festus Okubor attended St. James Primary School, Agbor and Edo College, Benin City, before proceeding to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he bagged a degree in medicine.

A completely detribalised Nigerian, He moved to Biu, Borno state with his wife, where he set up the communities first Private hospital in in 1989 which was known as El Shaddai Medical Centre. A hardworker, Dr. Okubor came down to Lagos to continue his medical practice. By dint of hard work and perseverance, he became the Assistant General Manager of the International Standards Insurance Company Limited, Lagos, where he laid the ground work for what is currently the health insurance industry in Nigeria today.

With the lifting of the ban on partisan politics by the General Ibrahim Babangida regime in June 22, 1989, the dissolution of 13 political parties by the same regime and the subsequent formation and recognition of two political parties namely the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the National Republican Convention (NRC). Dr. Okubor joined some progressive persons to float one of the early parties which never saw the light of the day as a result of the ban on politics by the military.

The Babangida regime gained notoriety for plunging pauperised Nigerians into a political brouhaha with the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election perceived to be the freest conducted in Nigeria and won by Chief MKO Abiola. The emergence of General Sani Abacha as Nigeria’s new military Head of State in November 1993 saw the lifting of the ban on politics and the formation of five political parties including the Grassroot Democratic Movement (GDM).

As a democrat, Dr. Okubor joined other progressive forces to garner support for the new party – the GDM. At the end he was elected National Publicity Secretary of the party at their national convention in Kaduna. After the demise of Abacha in June 1998, the military again dismantled all political structures including the GDM. With the birth of the fourth Republic under Obasanjo, Dr. Okubor became Chairman, Ika North East LGA in 2002. In 2003, he became the State Director of Protocol.

He was later appointed Commissioner for Special Duties; for Information and later for Health. In 2008, he became the Chairman, Delta State Hospital Management Board. Between 2010 and 2011, he was the Deputy Director General, Uduaghan Campaign Organization. Dr Okubor is a sports lover, with a special interest in Badminton. he hosts the Festus Okubor Badminton Tournament for young students in Delta state, and he serves on the board of the National Badminton federating body. A Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, Dr. Okubor is a generous man who has committed his personal resources to improving the lives of people including the less privileged, widows, brilliant but indigent students and has assisted many youths to secure gainful employment across the country and abroad.

Take Kenneth Gbagi Serious At Your Own Peril Is A Man Without Character & A pathetic liar

By Godwin Obire

The recent media outbursts of Kenneth Gbagi, the Delta State SDP Governorship candidate for the 2023 Governorship election did not come to many as a surprise as it was his vintage style of communication. It only further revealed his underbelly as one couched in uncouth language, pedestrian discourse and his style of politics which is ominously centred on character assassination rather on issues.

Although, Kenneth Gbagi prides himself as one of the founding fathers of the PDP in Delta State, his general comportment belies his claim of being a founding father.

If truly he were one, he would have respected the choice of his party for the Governorship rather than leaving the party he co-founded for another just to ventilate his personal Political ambition.

In recent times, he has taken his personal hurt rather too far by venting his anger on an innocent Sheriff Oborevwori who won the PDP Governorship primaries in grand style.
Gbagi has left the PDP and he should leave the party alone and not be an interloper in its internal issues. If truly he is popular he should wait for the 2023 election to test his popularity rather than engage in a media smear campaign believing it would shore up his chances of being Governor of Delta State.

Sheriff Oborevwori is young enough to be Gbagi’s political son and if this is the behaviour of fathers then no one should need a father of Gbagi’s mold especially one that would use his biological son to film naked female workers.

If truth must be told Kenneth Gbagi does not possess the temperament, compassion, the urbane-ness and wisdom which should be the hallmark of a Governor. He has virtually taken up every Governorship aspirant in Delta State, including all the past and present Governors of the State.

At a time, he disparaged the immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Peter Adogbejire Mrakpor, SAN just because he saw him as a Governorship rival.

Gbagi laboured unsuccessfully to prevent the prestigious award of SAN from being conferred on Mrakpor, an illustrious son of Delta state and even of his own local Government of Ughelli South.

At another time, he picked another Governorship aspirant from Ughelli, David Edevbie and practically labelled him a thief.

As if trying to empty the last volley of insults in his arsenal, he has now picked up on the Governor of Delta State, on whom he has poured invectives that are too unprintable to mention.

We recall that not too long ago he threatened to deal with Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan if he demolished his Hotel discovered to be sited directly under high tension wires in Effurun. Also, to show how easily it is for Gbagi’s sense of reasoning to be beclouded by sinister motives he once took on his friend, Chief Great Ogboru by telling the whole world how he rehabilitated “the former coup plotter” when he came back from exile. Certain personal details of Ogboru were brought to the fore by Gbagi, with tissues of lies added to garnish his story.

This scenario shows how dangerous it is to harbour friendship with Kenneth Gbagi or to even take him into confidence since he cannot be entrusted with a secret.

Gbagi is indiscreet and such a man cannot be trusted with Government secrets as he will spill the beans at every given opportunity.

It is said that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Gbagi is not a saint and should not be in a position to become sanctimonious in his preachments. Although, he prides himself as the biggest industrialist in Delta with power to create 100 industries in his first 100 days, if elected Governor, we all know that he runs his businesses without compassion for his staff members.

Not too long ago he allegedly subjected some of his female staff to inhuman treatment by stripping them naked in full glare of the camera for not allegedly remitting monies given to them as tips to him. He was said to have forcefully collected the ATM cards of the concerned staffers and mercilessly emptied all their life savings as punishment.

In spite of international uproar, condemning this bestial conduct exhibited by Gbagi he remained unrepentant and unfazed and continued his business as though nothing happened.

As a matter of fact, this behaviours of Gbagi shocked international Civil Society Organisations and brought odium and embarrassment to the whole of Nigeria. This cruelty of Gbagi bothered on savagery and barbarity and such a person does not have the moral standing to sit in Osadebey House as Governor.

We recall also that some ten years ago Gbagi was said to have impounded the car of a man whose wife was owing him a paltry sum of money and despite all entreaties by well meaning Deltans he refused to release the car till today. The car then valued at about 7 million naira is now rotted in his hotel because a woman owed him one hundred and sixty thousand naira.

Meanwhile, his Effurun hotel structure against all professional advice, is still ensconced under high tension wires and an uncaring Gbagi still collects annual rents from the facility.

Such a man who has no respect for laws and yet calls himself a lawyer and criminologist expects to be a Governor of Delta State? What a paradox!

At least anyone aspiring to be a Governor should possess certain attributes of civility and ability to accommodate different shades of opinion and not Gbagi who is behaving like one who did not see the four walls of higher education.

Gbagi has an uncanny belief that whatever he cannot have he should destroy, thus imbibing the attribute of the proverbial hen that scatters with its feet everything that is in its path.

Deltans are watching every step Gbagi makes. He should not mistake his notoriety for popularity. People may be clapping for him now for being loquacious like Governor Nyesom Wike and for his brazen disrespect for the Governor of Delta State. Unknown to him the ever enlightened Delta state electorate will pay him back on election day for his impropriety and lack of self control.

I wish to state that we have a lot of respect for Governor Okowa for not joining issues with Gbagi. The stance of Dr Okowa shows maturity, self restraint and wisdom which Gbagi abundantly lacks.

Gbagi should be sober that Governor Okowa’s media aides have been silent, choosing not to glorify him with a response.

A man such as Gbagi should retire to his closet and bemoan his failed media rantings.

He should thereafter tell Deltans what he had gained by polluting the media space with lies and unverifiable claims which cannot even pass a simple integrity test.

The prosecution of Promise Ogumo by Anti Graft Agency EFCC not in good faith coated with political undertones likewise majority of their victims.

Monday September 26. 2022.

When former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in 2003, first came up with the idea of establishing an anti-graft agency to be christened the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) not a few public affairs analysts and indeed, Nigerians heaved a sigh of relief on the ground that Nigeria is going to, for the first, since Buhari-Idiagbon (military) regime in 1984, an administration is going to attempt to tackle the menace of corruption that has eaten very deeply into our social fabric. Meanwhile, there were also some who expressed fear, as to the possibility of the agency becoming an instrument of political victimisation against opponents/enemies (real or imagined) of the ruling party.

From 2004 when the act establishing the commission, “the EFCC Act” was enacted and up until now, it has been variously accused of arresting embarrassingly, people whose opinions or positions on issues have appeared to be at variance with that of the powerful people in our society or anyone who knows anyone who is someone in the presidency. While the pioneer chairman Nuhu Ribadu was in charge, through the eras of Farida Waziri, Ibrahim Lamorde, Ibrahim Magu, up until now that Abdulrasheed Bawa is in charge, high profile people who are politically exposed have either been arrested or subjected to media trial and this has always come up shortly before or during electioneering period.

Under Ribadu, it was the then Bayelsa state governor, late Dipriye Alamieyeseigha, who many believed was being persecuted on account of his lack of support for Obasanjo’s 2nd term bid in 2003. He would later provide a very fertile ground for his arrest and prosecution by the EFCC after his money laundering case with the London Metropolitan Police, when he jumped bail in December 2005 from the United Kingdom by allegedly disguising himself as a woman, though he denied this claim. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello is another public figure put to trial by the anti-graft agency sometime in 2008. But at no time has the commission been most accused of political witch-hunt like that of Ibrahim Magu.

A lot of lawmakers while Magu was in charge albeit in an acting capacity, prominent among which was the senate president at the time, Bukola Saraki, who even though was in the same party (APC) as President Muhammadu Buhari, continued to be constant on the list of those indicted and perpetually subjected to media trial on account of political differences. Others belong to the group of politicians who served in the cabinet of Goodluck Jonathan. Oliseh Methu, Raymond Dokpesi, Femi Fani-Kayode, Stella Oduah, the then-national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki (retired), among others. In fairness to the EFCC, there were high profile members of the ruling party too who were on trial and even got convicted. But some people would argue that those cases predated the emergence of the Buhari administration.

For instance, there are cases of corruption allegations against prominent people in the ruling party (APC) like the former governors of Plateau, Abia, and Taraba states, and sitting senators, Joshua Dariye, Orji Uzor Kalu, and Jolly Nyame respectively who were convicted and sentenced to prison terms. Kalu would later be released, following some judicial abracadabra – use of legal technicality, that nullified the trial which judgment brought about his being sentenced.

The record, however, needs to be set straight at this juncture that nobody is saying people, who have at different points in time, deemed to have abused the trust reposed in them by virtue of their being public office holders or defrauded foreigners should not be held accountable for their dubious act and stewardship especially those who want to mistake public coffers for their “hip pockets”; apart from following the due process of the law, it must be done in good faith without any political undertone.

There are instances when you think that the commission could have done better by varying the timing of such indictments and or arrests. A good example was in 2006 when Atiku Abubakar as an incumbent vice president was warming up to contest for the 2007 presidential race having loyally served his boss (Obasanjo) for seven good years, and again from the northern part of the country, he thought it was a no-brainer for him to emerge as the natural successor to a man who had at different fora sang his praises for what he described as his (Atiku’s) unparalleled loyalty. But no sooner had Atiku declared his ambition than he was met with allegations that he had corruptly used his office to enrich himself after having tried, but failed to get him “impeached” as the vice president. He was alleged by the president to have embezzled money meant the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) even though it later emerged that the president could not completely wash his own hands clean of wrongdoing as far as the PTDF was concerned then. Atiku’s only saving grace was the obnoxious section 308 of the 1999 constitution which grants a president, his vice, a governor, and his deputy immunity from criminal prosecution. That is just one instance among many.

The latest on the numerous wrongly-timed indictments of politically exposed persons is that of an allegation of ($37, 350) fraud against the former house of assembly aspirant for Ika north east in Delta state Mr Promise Ogumo. It is believed that his decamping from people's democratic party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and rasing political acceptance/control of youth in Ika north east as we gear towards presidential race does not sit well with some powerful forces within the Ika north east and by extension some interests in the state, hence the unleashing of the commission as the proverbial attack dog on him. This latest faux pas is an unforced error, which makes more difficult, if not impossible, the task of defending the commission against those who see it as an instrument of harassment and intimidation, used to whip into line, any political dissident.

A keen follower of the commission’s modus operandi knows that they indict, arrest and detain first before they start an investigation; putting the cart before the horse. They would not come up with anything that is of evidential value against such an indicted person at the end of the day, thus rendering the whole show, a mere publicity stunt aimed at denting the political image of the victim of the “executive recklessness”.

This is majorly responsible for the abysmally poor indictment-conviction ratio, about 1:10. Meanwhile, in an ideal situation, an investigation would be concluded establishing watertight proof against the suspect before an arrest is effected, and prosecution begins. We all are witnesses to the case of FBI versus Abdulrahman Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, in which DCP Abba Kyari, head of the inspector general of police’s intelligence response team at Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja, was indicted. In a matter of weeks from now, judgment will be delivered, according to reports emanating from the US. But if it were to be Nigeria, the case could drag on for as long as two decades, because the prosecutor commences investigation after arrest, while a purported prosecution progresses. He would continually be seeking an adjournment to be able to conduct and conclude investigation amend charges day after day. This modus operandi has in so many instances made a mess of cases where the accused stood no chance of being acquitted. With this antecedent, one can safely say that the EFCC would in the coming days, commence investigation into Promise Ogumo's case. And if that is the case, how can the anti-graft body exculpate itself from the allegation of being political in the hands of the powers-that-be for witch-hunting?

One of the surest ways an anti-graft agency secures or loses its legitimacy is how it handles cases involving politically exposed persons. It has to be very circumspect, with the timing and manner of approach to its prosecutorial endeavours. If it chooses media trial over a trial in the law court, a conviction might be secured in the court of public opinion, but remember, it is not legally binding and therefore a waste of national time and resources, apart from constituting a source of unnecessary distraction in the pursuit of the case that is being bankrolled by taxpayers. It would reduce to total joke, whatever purpose for which such an agency was established. Accusing Promise Ogumo few days to the kick off of general political hours after he declared his intention to mobilizer and ensure Ika north east is liberated, is like someone who’s been accused of theft seen curdling a billy.

While nobody is preempting the EFCC’s indictment of Promise Ogumo, it needs to get more serious and stop acting as if it is an arm of political party, otherwise, it will continue to be regarded as “that (unregistered) political party”. It should not be supplying indicted persons alibis that have the capability of derailing the case, be it in the court of law or in the court of public opinion.

I Am Innocent, Promise Ogumu Denies Allegations Of $37, 350 Fraud Against Him By Anti-graft Agency.

The former All Progressive Congress (APC) house of assembly candidate for Ika north east Mr Promise Ogumu, has given a detailed response to the allegations leveled against him.

In a press statement obtained by point blank magazine on Monday. Ogumu, denied all the claims as untrue and a calculated attempt to tarnish his name.

He insisted that not a dime of anyone's funds was fraudulently converted for his personal use and challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission his accusers to produce evidence of such fraudulent transaction specifically for them to come forward with the complainant and any other evidence as relate to their fabricated falsehood that was orchestrated by political jealousy.

Ogumu claimed that some powerful toes he stepped on in Ika north east for decamping from people's democratic party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) while pursuing his political career were out to tarnish his image and destroy his reputation at all course because of his fast rasing political acceptance by the people as they approach the 2023 election.

He said his traducers were out there publishing false information about him on social media platforms. Am a legitimate business man I have been running a successful registered property company since 2015, those perpetuating this fabricated storyline because of politics are enemies of progress.

He Called on news outlets to call their reporters to order warning that “falsehood and disinformation will not win election.

Urged bloggers, social media users and news outlets to caution their staffs specifically those overzealous busybody ones who don't carryout investigation before spreading falsehood as ignorance is not an excuse in law and to allow the election circle be about issues that will advance the growth, progress and stability of the country.

He admonished social media politicians from Ika north east to desist from spreading lies, malice and denigrating other politicians who refused to align with their primitive and uncivilized political ideology that will add no value to the wellbeing of the people

Further states that Nigeria will be better for it and the electoral process will be enriched if the 2023 presidential campaign sticks to issues of good governance that will lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty rather than being dominated by falsehood and ravings of guttersnipes, who do not wish the country well,” the statement added.

Ogumu noted that he saw the need to appeal to social media users, specifically bloggers, news outlets and political media aides after investigating the origin/root of those behind the scene that is spreading the Efcc bunch of lies on social media claiming that he defrauded someone that doesn't exist.

His lawyers are already doing the needful and any person or outfit found spreading this fake story to rubbish is hard earned reputation will face the consequences of their actions as the matter is already in court and we are going to follow it up to logical conclusion. the statement concluded.

Meanwhile the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 arraigned Promise Ogumo (a.k.a James Simpson, Brain Walker) before Justice F.A. Olubanjo of the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State.

Ogumo was arraigned on six -count charges, bordering on fraudulent impersonation, obtaining by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents. He is alleged to have sometime in 2019 and 202 obtained an aggregate sum of Thirty Seven Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($37, 350) under false pretence of a lottery investment.

Let's emulate good conduct for the success of the party as we approach the 2023 election we should reach out to people and build bridges across party lines specifically those of us who are privilege to be leaders in our various unit, ward, local government and groups".

According to Owelle. "Politics is a game of number so we need everyone for us to succeed. Is a collectively responsibility and not a one man's show. Ask yourself what you do differently, to win more people from PDP to join the party just like what Friday Osanebi our deputy governorship candidate is doing across the state specifically in Ndokwa nation ever since he joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) we have witnessed mass defection from the PDP to APC courtesy of Fridays good relationship & marvelous inbuilt character of friendship, humility, kindness and generosity coated with philanthropic gesture.

Owelle stressed that: "As a member of the party you should not discourage people by saying things that doesn't befit your status especially when you are a leader in your own right. Be a role model for intending members & display a character that is worthy of emulation for old members who are looking up to you. Ever since I came to APC less than 2 years ago I have been able to add more value to the party by sharing the little I have with my people. Buying cars, paying school fees, house rent and many more, the least is endless. I don't think of any gain or give condition to work for the party. Am in APC to liberate our people from political slavery orchestrated by the people's democratic party (PDP) in Delta state.

"We want our political leaders to display good character at all levels specifically those at the hierarchy of constituted authorities both elected and appointed. The leadership we need as a political party and the leadership our people needs is one that has big ideas to change things. With the sense of principle needed to stick to those beliefs and ideas even when it is hard. And with the decency and empathy to reach out to people from all backgrounds, all walks of life. For me, those qualities are the gold standard for what a modern leader should offer.”

He stressed that; "some politicians these days often talk about the need for improving character. However, there are two things to note about such proclamations. Firstly, they are usually about the need to instil good character in somebody other than themselves, what they tend to mean by ‘character’ is a set of irresponsible behavior of flexing muscles and making irrelevant statement that will add no value to the growth of the party. To be sure, who knows? building general character muscle of that sort can be useful endeavour to them politically, but my question is: What is this muscle going to be used for? That is what I don't understand. They should explain to us.

"With these two observations in mind, it is encouraging to see some of us being brave enough to mention & speak about political moral qualities that some leaders need to cultivate and adopt. It must be said, however, that ‘Empathy’ is the psychological capacity to be able to put oneself in another’s shoes - Are they putting themselves in the shoes of our people based on their suffering due to the misrule of the people's democratic party (PDP)"

Owelle further stated that: "Moreover, we surely want some of our leaders to be ‘decent’ in the sense of not hurting, abusing and offending others in the party. We want them to be compassionate by feeling the pains and misfortune of our people - and not just to sit pretty on such emotions but to do something about them by serving the party and our people diligently with all sincerity and pure heart. It is not until politicians retrieve and restore the ideal of being servants of the public that the public disengagement with political life and the ‘political classes’ will start to change for the better". Owelle concluded.

Sir; today is your 70th birthday and we wish you a very happy birthday and many more long years of good health, happiness and above all God’s mercies. Sir, we know that your best years are still ahead of you and cannot wait for them to unravel.

You have long stood for square pegs in square holes when it comes to making leadership choices and you have ignored cliché political disadvantages suffered by many of your protegees and instead elevated them with your mentorship.

You have demonstrated a knack for finding the “rat” which no one sees and have used this forward-thinking ability to lay foundations for buildings whose building blocks were years away from being manufactured.

Today, across Urhobo nation, your protégés do you proud even as we face this momentous challenge. That is the best birthday gift we can give to you sir.
