Islam › Re: Aisha (RA) Married The Prophet (PBUH) At Age Nine. So What? by dexmond: 4:27pm On May 26, 2013
tbaba1234: Why would you look at the 7th century with 21st century goggles. Just a century ago, the legal marriage age in the UK was 7 years old. That is 100 years ago.

In semetic culture, when a woman starts her menses she is a woman. According to the catholic encyclopedia, Mary was 12 when she had Jesus. That was perfectly normal. Would you also blame Joseph for marrying a 12 year old.

Do you think you can compare a young girl growing in the desert to girls carrying school bags today? Besides the fact that they are bigger, do you think they had to get secondary and tertiary education? Immediately, it was time for marriage, they got married. There was not much else to look forward too. It was a normal phenomenon and not one of the enemies of the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never saw anything wrong with it. Not one raised an objection.

You now wear your 21st century goggles to examine a 7th century phenomenon. Ridiculous! The people best placed to raise objection did not.

Even in this age , 13 year olds get married, go to southern US. For many of us, we might have different guages for maturity but for the ancient jew or arab, once a girl starts her menses, she is mature. If you can investigate your own family history, you would find many 9-12 years brides in your family.I can guarantee that.
The Quran is good for all ages, the prophet is the best for mankind. Would you rather we go back to the 6th century were we could marry children? The bible never mentioned the age of Mary. We dont follow dictionary but the Bible. I believe the same goes for you, it is either the Quran, the Hadiths or the Sira, any other book does not represent the facts of your religion.

deols: My question is not on whether Aisha(r.a) was fit for her role but on the practicality of marriage to minors in this era.
This is the position Muslims should have taken not denying it. Moreover, marriage to prebuscent girls is wrong at all times. Was Khadijat not a full woman when the prophet married her? why little Aisha?

thehomer: At least you're willing to engage the questions head on. Unlike Mr anony who has suddenly found it difficult to understand English.

Since God owned the entire world, why then didn't he send his chosen people to Australia or even create land from the sea for them?

Has it occurred to you that there is no justification for such an instruction? Maybe they will or he could have accepted them into Heaven like he did to Elijah or Enoch.

How do you know he is good given the fact that he gave such an order? If a highly intelligent alien gave such a command, would you think it was perfectly good?
Being the creator and owner of the world, he he reserves the right to send them wherever it pleases Him.

Are you judging the Almighty God? The innocent children will surely be accepted into heaven because they know no sin.

He God is still good seeing that he saved the innocent children. It should come as a surprise to you that Israel was punished when they did the very same thing that led God to take those land and give them to Israel. At a time they began worshipping Idols and engaging in the same practise of the people of that Land which led God to punish them by other Nations too. Is God not Just? You, thehomer will also account for all your actions after you die, in fighting the Lord Jesus and his Church. I pray that the Lord opens your eyes.

Islam › Re: Aisha (RA) Married The Prophet (PBUH) At Age Nine. So What? by dexmond: 2:57pm On May 26, 2013

The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to mewhile I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him,and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58,Number 234).

Narrated Hisham's father:
Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58,Number 236)

Narrated 'Aisha:
Allah's Apostle said to me, "You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, 'Uncover (her),' and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' Then you were shown to me, the angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said (to him), 'Uncover (her), and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.'" (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 87,Number 140; see also Number 139)

I know is difficult to believe that prophet of Islam married Aisha at 6 and had sex with her at 9. The evidence from the Hadiths and Sunah is overwhelming. I chose to believe the sacred books than what Deols and Pmc01 are saying. There are evidence all over the internet. Deols, Jesus loves little children not having them for pleasure. Aisha was playing on a swing for Gods sake and you are saying she was a lady? In another Sunah we were told she was 18 when the prophet died. You guys should stop deceiving people, even if Islam is the right way for mankind, why all these lies?

I get your point. Jihad is not an individual thing, but a COLLECTIVE war, in other words Jihad is state sanctioned in Islam. Don't you think the reason why we have individuals carrying out personal Jihad is because States can no longer declare Jihad like it used to be in olden times?

Moreover, I thought Jihad does not mean war but struggle against sin? How come you are referring to war?

I am not supporting or objecting to what you said, rather, I wanted to show that you stated your opinion by not referring to respected Islamic scholars. I shall proceed in my next post to show you some opinions expressed by the scholars on the matter.

Tanx vedaxcool for ur explanation. Are jinns demons? How can a Muslim convert his jinn?
Christianity Etc › Re: In What Way Is God Good? Inviting Mr Anony And Any Intersted Party by dexmond: 6:55pm On May 23, 2013
thehomer: Can the God who gave such a command be good in any sense of the word?

If a good God is giving such a command, then what would an evil command from the devil look like?
God's way is different from the ways of man. He knows the future. The reason why God could have given such a command was to ensure that the remnants of the people does not come back to haunt Israel. It is interesting to note that Saul did not completely obey the instruction which led to the Amalekites coming back in 1samuel 30:1-2 to carry the family members of David and his men captives.

The most difficult part in this instruction was the order to kill infants. The reason for this action is beyond my understanding. Who knows, may be when the children grow, they will want to take revenge. However, the LORD, Adonai, is perfectly good.

What OP fail to understand is when Mohammed first wife was alive, she never married any other women. It was after Khadija death that Mohammed went on a marrying spree.
Tank alexis, kindly go ahead and provide references backing your claims.

The prophet Muhammed said every human has a jinn as companion including him, and that he has subdued his own qareen by allahs help, that the jinn now enjoins him to do good.

Question.

Can one convert a demon into an angel?

Can one summon a demon like magicians do, subduing it and using the demon to his advantage?

Sheik Maclatunji and Vedaxcool can enlighten us.

Islam › Re: Please I Need More Explanation About Jihad by dexmond: 6:41pm On May 22, 2013
@dr genius

I think it is better to hear from Islamic scholars.

Let us hear Sayyid Qutb, In the Shad of the Qur'an, vol. 4, pp. 404-405

" Fight against those who-despite having been given Scripture - do not truly believe in God and the Last Day, and do not treat as forbidden that which God and His Messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, till they pay the submission tax with a willing hand, after they have been humbled. (Verse 29)

This verse and the ones that follow were meant to prepare the Muslims for their expedition to Tabuk and the confrontation with the Byzantines and their puppet regime of Christian Arabs, known as the Ghassanld. This suggests that the descriptions we have here were true of the people on the other side of the confrontation. They simply show the reality of those people. These descriptions are not mentioned here as conditions for fighting the people of earlier revelations, but as qualities inherent in their distorted beliefs and the actual reality of those people. Hence they provide the justification for fighting them. The ruling also applies to all those who share the same beliefs and characteristic"

Let us read an excerpt from Ruhollah Khomeini's speech delivered at Feyziyeh Theological School in August 24, 1979.

The great prophet of Islam in one hand carried the Koran and in the other a sword; the sword for crushing the traitors and the Koran for guidance. For those who could be guided, the Koran was their means of guidance, while as for those who could be guided and were plotters, the sword descended on their heads. ... Islam is a religion of blood for the infidels but a religion of guidance for other people.

We have sacrificed much blood and many martyrs. Islam has sacrificed blood and martyrs.

We do not fear giving martyrs. ... Whatever we give for Islam is not enough and is too little. Our lives are not worthy. Let those who wish us ill not imagine that our youths are afraid of death or of martyrdom. Martyrdom is a legacy which we have received from our prophets. Those should fear death who consider the aftermath of death to be obliteration. We, who consider the aftermath of death a life more sublime than this one, what fear have we? The traitors should be afraid. The servants of God have no fear. Our army, our gendarmerie, our police, our guards have no fear. Our guards who were [killed] ... have achieved eternal life. ...

These people who want freedom, who want our youths to be free, write effusively about the freedom of our youth. What freedom do they want? ... They want the gambling casinos to remain freely open, they want heroin addicts to be free, opium addicts to be free. They want the seas to be free everywhere for the youth [i.e. mixed bathing]

Time will not permit me to add more. You may decide for yourself whether Islam is the WAY.
Islam › Re: Aisha (RA) Married The Prophet (PBUH) At Age Nine. So What? by dexmond: 6:19pm On May 22, 2013
pmc01: For those who have little knowledge of history, a pagan had earlier sought the hand of Aisha in marriage before the Prophet (PBUH) was commanded by Allaah (God) through Angel Jubril to do likewise. It was only after the pagan discontinued his interest in the proposed marriage, for the fear of not been requested to become a Muslim that Abu Bakr (Aisha's father) agreed to give out Aisha (RA) in marriage to the Prophet (PBUH). (Please, refer to authentic Scholars of Sunnah for ref).

How then can you claim Aisha was too young to be married to the Prophet (PBUH)?

#Have you any sense at all?

In case you also don't know, a certain Catholic Gazette claims 'Virgin Mary was just twelve years old' when she married 90 year old Joseph, the carpenter. (Please, refer to Wikipedia for ref).
So, how does the figure(s) of a lady's age determine when she should be married or not?

#Surely, common sense is for a reserved few only (the true believers in the oneness of God).
You did not quote your sources, this makes everything you said to be conjectures, they are not to be taken serious.

It is a well known fact that the West had slammed Nigeria for criminalising homosexuality, with this pardon, Jonathan will now be treated specially by the West with the hope that he will promote sodomy in Nigeria. Watch out as irresponsible western leaders begin to praise Jonathan just for promoting sodomy and rape as if there is more to this sodomy rights than the odinary eyes could see.

maclatunji: It is simple, politicians allow misinformed masses unleash their angst on Non-Muslims in the name of 'protecting Islam'. They forget about the abject poverty and poor governance they suffer from.

Nobody suffered insults more than Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his reaction was always exemplary. Hence, acts of murder and vandalism cannot be justified under any blasphemy rule. It is just a matter of bad governance.
Pls ignore Maclatunji, he is lying. Ask him what happened to Bint Marwan who criticized Muhammed, the woman a mother of was killed in the most brutal manner. Ask him what the offence of Abu Afak was before the "holy" prophet ordered his assassination. You can lie to those who do not know the hadiths.
