True
In my opinion that's a warped way to think
Being a man is being results oriented

Being rude and rash and misogynist and all that does not make you an "alpha male "

He's not a doormat for women, yes. If you translate that as zero respect for women, then so be it. He was married to three beautiful women; all either actresses or models, and two of whom were much younger; despite his so called lack of respect. How many beautiful younger models do respectful men get to marry?

1) Respecting women does not make you a door mat
Worshipping women and having no respect for yourself makes a doormat
There is a difference
Some people mix up both
But they are not the same

Marrying someone like Melania Trump says a lot about Trumps character

Cheating on your first wife with the second
Cheating on the second wife with the third
And then sleeping with a porn star while your third wife was pregnant

Is this the kind of man you red pillars look up to as the ideal role model?
That would be very unfortunate

As for Trump running the US aground, you will recall that your adored Obama added much more to the national debt, and he never had a congress-imposed $2 trillion Covid-19 stimulus on his back; nor a total shutdown to deal with. The US economy was booming under trump...until Covid 19 happened. And the crippling shutdown along with the riots; were entirely the brainchild of the democrats and their nagging media. They were engineered to bring the economy down. Obama never had to deal with economic saboteurs in his own country.

What are you talking about here?
Obama was a president of a country in crisis FROM DAY ONE
George Bush admin was lying about thr deficit (actually using fraudulent accounting techniques to account for the debt)
That changed under Obama and the debt blew up
Second, the tax cuts of George Bush which blew up the deficit in the first place was to expire in 2010, two years into the obama presidency
Go look at the debt figures of Obama
Those first two years was the time most debt was put on his slab
Not to talk of handling the great recession and the fallout of the iraq war

Trump on the other hand was running a $1 trillion deficit ANNUALLY
I repeat
$1 trillion ANNUALLY
In an economy that was supposedly "booming "
It was domino and a house of cards that took Covid 19 to pop
No other developed country had the economic fallout on the scale America did
When you build bubbles
One day it will burst

This Covid 19 incident was his first real test as president
And on crisis management
And you and I saw how woeful he performed

Trump is a Forbes acknowledged USD billionaire. If that is an unsuccessful businessman, I wonder what you would consider as successful. Filing for bankruptcy does not make one a failed businessman. There are many business savvy reasons to file for bankruptcy. Even Henry Ford has filed for bankruptcy at one time. Ask yourself, if he sucked so much at business, how come he is worth billions today when he filed for bankruptcy 'many times'?

Filing for bankruptcy multiple times makes you a failed business man
He filed for bankruptcy AT LEAST FOUR times (I'm sure it's more)
His father at some point had to bail him out because he was making stupid decisions

His father already was a very rich man
Multimillionaire real estate mogul who laid the ground work for him
Despite all the advantages
Trump still flunked
Trump university = Failed
Trump airline = Failed
Trump wine = Failed
The casino at Atlantic city =Failed
Let me not even go on

Even his networth has a question mark on it
There was an article that alleged anyways that he paid that person for the op ed that brought his name into the forbes list in the first place, an allegation trump is denying, but we know he is a habitual liar

And being brash, disrespectful and reckless is the definition of being a MAN.

Trump has more balls than Obama.
Obama is a simp, a pushover and a spineless man.

Obama INHERITED TWO disastrous wars

And upon assumption of office in January 2009
Was steering the affairs of a country that was about to hit the rocks

He steered the country away from impending disaster, and upon leaving office, was able to leave America in a better shape than he met it

Can you say the same for Trump?
America again is on the brink (due to his recklessness )
And Joe Biden will be saddled with the task of steering the country away from calamity again undecided

If I tell you now to list the wars that Obama declared on countries now
Or the war he "caused"

You will not be able to answer

It is said that when a man repeats a phrase twice, he is unsure of what he's saying. You repeated "a wife has so much to offer than sex" three times, and not once did you deign to give one little example of what that is.

Obama was a wuss; even as POTUS. He regularly drew red lines that everyone ignored. He built nothing and achieved nothing in his private life. The only reason you admire him is because the leftist US media pushed him as some socialist hero. And he didn't run his family; Michelle does. Trump on the other hand, was and is, a successful businessman. No wuss achieves such a status. It takes grit and balls, and the ability to focus your brain power on your path.
Trump is a failed businessman
Failed at every business he put his hand in
A failed family man (multiple divorcee)
Filed for bankruptcy many times
Ran america aground with his reckless 2017 tax cuts
Put American long standing goodwill at jeopardy

Has ZERO RESPECT for women
And the list goes on...
Who goes bankrupt in running a casino
A fvcking casino ?
Is this a man that you and your fellow "red pillers" and "Alfa males" look up to ?

A known coward who dodged draft with lies (does Bone spurs ring a bell)
Abeg abeg

Leave Trump
That one is a failed fellow
If you talk of Nikola, Dangote, Rubenstein, Steve Jobs and other men like that who are actually successful at what they did
Yea that makes sense

But Trump
Knowing his antecedents does not fit the bill

As for your remarks about Obama
You probably did not take the time to study his landmark policy thrusts during his presidency
Or maybe you were not interested

But the fact remains that he was able to achieve a whole lot in his own presidency
TPP was his brain child to steer asia Pacific away from China grip
The Iran deal was also his signature achievement
The longest private sector growth expansion in America history is also his achievement

Now did Obama do some stupid things
Just like every president
He did

But to say he achieved nothing is a cop out undecided
Even Trump with all his recklessness can still point out to some achievements of his own

So much more like what? Sex and progeny aside, a man can pretty much end up much better on his own. Don't tell me you believe all that rot about women being behind every successful man? Be aise that is patently untrue. Many of the best success stories are glaringly by men devoid of the distraction of women in their lives. If you look at the lives of billionaires and founders like Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Colonel Sanders, Steve Jobs, Elon musk, Warren Buffet, even our own Aliko Dangote, a common thread seems to be their disregard for women and relationships. They were all either single, divorced, or in extremely free marriages when they made their wealth and marry and discard at will afterwards. I spend much time reading about the lives of successful, self made people and if there is a common thread that runs through their personal lives, it's their total lack of regard for commitment and female attention. In not a single case does the wife emerge from the background to dominate their lives; as in the case of people like Barrack Obama for example, who achieved political success, but is more or less a washout in the corporate and business world.

You don't have to believe me, look it up.
Like I said
A wife has so much to offer than just sex
Personally I'm not so crazed about marriage or whatever

But I'm sensible enough to know
That a wife has much more to offer than just sex.

If one wants to stay away from the entanglement of women
That's fine
No one should shame him for that
But its foolhardy to believe that a wife has so little to offer
(Wife material anyways, not some ot these women we have causing problems out there )

And what you said about Obama is also not very accurate
He was successful in his own right as a lawyer AND a politician)
I have dissected that mans life
And I have nothing but admiration and respect for him
How he runs his family
How he treats people
And how he ran the country

Donald Trump on the other hand

If I would define marriage in a few words, I would say that '

'Marriage is an institution where two individual ties the rope of their existence together, to alleviate the suffering of life.

The idea that people should not get married because they earn whatever amount is flawed, though, I can understand the line of thinking it is coming from. It is easy for two people to live on sixty thousand nairas for example (each spouse earning thirty thousand naira), than for one person to live alone with thirty thousand. Because the same room that one person will live in, can accommodate two people, food will not be wasted, and you have someone to count on, free necessary labour (such as domestic duties, errands) =, and many more that is hardly achieved by one person.

The idea that one has to make a lot of money to settle down is good, but what about losing your wealth after marriage, what will become of such a couple? What if they both encounter life difficulties such as sickness, losing mobility, and more? such formula is not sustainable. The will to be a good partner is superior to the will to have lots of money.
Okay....
I see
But read my second paragraph again

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
This above is the basis

I stand by it
A man making N30k has no business getting married
He needs to improve his situation at least
Both parties getting into marriage with realistic salaries/income is more workable

N30k can't do crap in Lagos

At the same time
Looking for a man making N20m annually is NOT REALISTIC

I like your post about women being realistic esp about the economic situation in Nigeria but for most posters to say people (men and women) aren't getting married is entirely false. As it's, almost all of my female classmates (secondary school and university) have gotten married in Nigeria. Notwithstanding the economic crises and Covid-19, people within my circle have gotten married this year than previous years. So when Nairalanders opine that people aren't getting married, I find it amusing.

madridsta007:
Marriages and economic growth are directly proportional, especially in Conservative African societies.
The more middle-class growth, the more marriages.
Low middle-class growth, less marriages.
This should be very simple.

Let me break it down:

The Middle-Class man, lets say a pilot, gets married and employs a Night-Guard to guard his house. The Night-Guard makes some money from that employment and then marries. More marriages means, more jobs for photographers, event planners, etc. These guys make money and then marries.... Friendships that lead to marriages are formed in a wedding. Everything stems from that middle-class population. Reduce it, as Buhari, Tinubu and APC has done and you will gradually affect marriages. That is why I pity women who think their problem is spiritual. Most times, it isnt. Again, follow the economics.

In Nigeria's North, more insecurity and instability means less marriage. The bachelor is thinking about surviving and staying alive than marriage. There are many research studies that links low marriage rate to the existence of civil unrest, wars, etc.

I'm very surprised that people were voting for Buhari's Change in 2015 and Next Level in 2019 and were not thinking that the economic recession he came with wont affect your chances of marriages. Africans can be very foolish.
The man you want to marry is thinking about surviving economically and not being a burden to a woman and her people.
Again, this is common sense.
Very well said
