Education / University Of Lagos Students’ Union (ULSU) Protest: The True Story by dharyour93(m): 11:15am On Apr 13, 2016
The protests staged by the University of Lagos Students’ Union (ULSU) on Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th and Friday 8th April, 2016 have got many people talking nationwide, with speculations here and there about what led to the protests. It is important to explain the situations that led to the protest to clear the air.

On Tuesday 5th April 2016, there was a meeting of student leaders comprising ULSU Executives, Principal Officers of ULSU Parliament and Honourable members, Faculty Presidents, Halls of Residence Chairmen/Chairpersons and other stakeholders (66 leaders attended the meeting). The meeting held at the Parliament Building (Chambers) of the Union and it started at about 6pm.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the salient issues affecting students of the University at large and some actions that leaders can take concerning the betterment of the welfare of the students. We were also to discuss the idea of staging a ‘National Protest’ at the 3rd Mainland Bridge to express our displeasure with the economic situations in the country.

At the meeting, after several deliberations, it was unanimously agreed that instead of staging a national protest to address issues affecting the whole nation, we (student leaders) should match to the Management to ask questions concerning all the issues affecting us in this school; that we should first of all solve our immediate problems on campus before solving national problems. Issues of Water, Hike in prices of commodities, Pre-requisite, Power, Accommodation/Shodeinde Hall, Sports Centre, and Ambulance among others came up. We decided to do the matching the following day - Wednesday 6th April by 12noon.

On Wednesday, student leaders started gathering at the Students’ Union Building at about 12noon and eventually left at about 2pm – less than 25 leaders started; some faculties were reached to gather more leaders before matching to the Senate. By the time we got to the Senate, nobody attended to us until later in the evening when the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Academic and Research – Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe appeared at the scene of the protest in front of the Main Auditorium to address us, but by that time, more students had joined us and we insisted that it is the Vice Chancellor that we want to see, not the DVC. From that moment till we dispersed, no one else from the Management attended to us.

The protest continued the following day – Thursday at about 8am; we went round the school, moving from one Faculty to another, everything was peaceful. After several hours of waiting at the Senate building with nobody to attend to us, it got to a point where students became angrier because the VC is not attending to us. I sent a message to the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) at exactly 10:45am that we have been patient enough and if we do not see him or the VC in 5minutes, we would proceed to lock up the gate; (we didn't want to lock up the gate) we did because he didn't show up.

At about 12:30pm, after a few hours at the gate, we got a LagMobile message that referred to the Union as ‘a group of studnts’, that we are not law abiding and we are ‘hell bent on disrupting d academic calenda’; this infuriated the entire protesting students the more and we once again proceeded to the Senate while the gate was still locked. We were at the Senate till about 6pm when a delegation of the Senate led by Prof Akin Oyebode of the Faculty of Law came to address us. In the course of his address, after the President of the Union – Comr. Muhammed Olaniyan and the Speaker of the Parliament - Rt. Hon. Adeyanju Adeonipekun told him about our demands, he made a statement that the Senate is not even aware of some of the things being said, whereas these are issues that the Union has discussed with both the DSA and the VC on several occasions. The students at this point also insisted that they want to be addressed by the VC himself, to hear from the horse’s mouth. The delegation left as if they would go and come back with the VC, but they did not. We were at the Senate till about 9pm before we dispersed.

We woke up the next Morning - Friday to hear the news of the arrest of the President of our Union and the PRO – Jumai Fabuyi by the Ojuelegba ‘Area C’ Police Command, their phones and the Union bus were seized (The bus is still with the Police till now). Not just that, we also got LagMobile message that every student should vacate the Hostels by 10am and that the school has been closed down. An ‘Armoured Personnel Carrier’. (APC) and heavily armed Police men were also sighted in the school premises.

The news of the arrest/closure of the school left the students in shock because we really did not envisage all that; all we wanted to do is to ask questions about the welfare issues affecting us as students of the University. Students trooped out en mass to demand for the release of the student leaders and demanded that the school be re-opened because we feel that our demands are not too much to ask for, and not too hard for the Management to attend to. The school gates were locked again, the President was released and he joined us to demand for the re-opening of the school. The Police vehicles inside the school were also driven out and they all parked at the entrance of the school.

While at the gate, the Police APC broke open the main gate of the University twice, about two students sustained minor injuries in the process. When we realised that some students were already risking their lives by passing through the canal and other means in an attempt to leave school and go home, we opened the gate for those that want to leave. Gradually, we dispersed.

What baffles the Union till this moment is the fact that students staged a very peaceful protest inside the school for three days and the DSA or any of his Deputies did not come out to address us; it has never happened in the history of this University. Instead of them to address us, they prefer to adopt a Media War strategy against the Union; they are trying to pitch the student populace against the Union and render the Union useless; they are digressing from the issues we are raising and trying to divert attention towards irrelevant subjects. It is very unfortunate.

What we think, based on how the events unfolded, is that it is possible that the Management had been looking for an excuse to shut down the school and they see this as an opportunity. If not, how do we explain a situation where instead of the Management to listen to us, they prefer to level all kinds of allegations against our Union;

They said our request for a befitting gate is 'poetic', that we wanted the VC out of office and not really the gate - the befitting gate was a mere request, they could decide to do it and they could decide not to. The reason for the request was based on security concerns, that if we could have a gate that has security cameras and other safety measures in place, it would be good. Why would we even want the VC out of office when there were no allegations (proven or not proven) against him?;

They said what we are fighting for is the Bus, and not the welfare of the students - we have evidence to back up the fact that that request was the 3rd request for a bus from the Management, why are they holding on to this particular one and not talking about the others? The first time we requested for a bus was 19th January, the second time was 23rd February, every student that is conversant with the activities of the Union will understand our need for a bus;

They said we directed the Executives of Cab Operators to Abdicate office, that is not true. What we did was to advice the Executives based on the letter of request that we got in a letter dated 7th March and signed by 117 out of about 150 Cab operators that their Executives have over stayed in office. We had even settled the matter with the Executives of the cab operators before all these happened.

We have evidences to back up all these.

They said we 'violently disrupted classes', that we harassed lecturers;
They said some of us are being investigated for theft and thurgery, that we teamed up with some students that are being investigated for forgery and all; all these are laughable, really.

Many students can attest to it that no lecturer was harassed; in fact, they co-operated with us when we entered their classes because most of them are in support of this struggle.

Also, no executive of ULSU is being investigated for theft or thurgery, the school management that we know would have arrested any student for questioning even before they say it out; besides, no student would be allowed to contest for any position in this school if s/he is under investigation or is found wanting. So, those allegations are baseless.

As always, we are ready for a discussion with the management because as far as we are concerned, we are not 'fighting' them, we are only asking them to attend to our Welfare matters as students of this great citadel of learning.

Now, the Union appreciates you (yes, you) for your support so far, we are all in this struggle together and we shall be victorious by the Grace of God. No harassment or intimidation can deter us.
Continue to be patient, the school will soon be re-opened.
Thank you very much.

Aluta Continua!

Education / Press Release Of The Press Club, UNILAG On The UNILAG Protest by dharyour93(m): 6:40pm On Apr 11, 2016
THE PRESS CLUB,
University of Lagos

PRESS RELEASE

UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS STUDENTS PROTEST; THE TRUE STORY

Sequel to several news and propaganda that have infiltrated the media for the past few days regarding the peaceful protest embarked upon by the students of the University Of Lagos and the action of the management, shutting down the school, The Press Club, University Of Lagos has deemed it fit to clarify and present the issues behind the student protest.

It should be noted that the peaceful protest which began on Wednesday was a consensus reached by the various students leaders of the University Of Lagos at a meeting held on Tuesday where issues bothering on student welfare was discussed and it was agreed that there should be a peaceful march to the office of the Dean of Students Affairs to ask questions bothering the generality of students, which could not be answered by the Student Leaders.

THE ISSUES

While the media and the school management has painted water and light as the reasons for the protest by the students, it is imperative that this is cleared and on this note we present the various issues:

1. Scarcity Of Sachet Water: Over the past two months the students of the University Of Lagos has not only witness hike in the price of sachet water but also scarcity of the product, this is due to the monopoly of UNILAG Ventures, the producer of UNILAG Water who have not been able to satisfy the student populace since last year and the situation only gets worse as the day goes by, most especially in the last two months. Students have been grumbling as they have been forced to buy table water which is more expensive, while some who cannot afford it stays thirsty. As a proactive measure, The Press Club, UNILAG released an editorial titled “The Monopoly of UNILAG Waters and the Scarcity Thereof”, which was sent to the Vice Chancellor and the Dean of Students Affairs on the 22nd of March, 2016 via email, but the management is yet to address the issue or proffer solution.

2. Non Availability of Domestic Water: Another major issue that bothers on the welfare of students is the issue of domestic water which has become a night mare for students, due to this issue, students stay on queue for hours before they’re able to get water and most time, majority of the student go to class without taking their bath, or sometimes you see student going out of their hostels with bucket looking for where to fetch water.

3. Hike in Price/Price List: Since the inception of this semester, the students of the University of Lagos have experienced hike in the price of commodities on campus. Though the vendors have most times attributed this to the increase in dollar but we can state that at the time of dollar increase, goods were much cheaper outside the university than within the university. An example of this is Lucozade Boost which is sold outside the school for N200 while it is sold in school for N250. In addition, a bag of sachet water is sold for as much as N200 within the university as against N130 that it’s sold outside the university campus. It is noteworthy that the management has directed that a bag of sachet water should be sold at N120 each but the vendors have refused to comply with this directive giving the excuse that they pay so much royalty for their shops. It is on this blueprint that the union, in order to avoid faceoff between angry students and the vendors who may see this as exploitation and want to take laws into their hands, demanded for a price list that will be pasted round the campus as it has been the norm and which has proven to be the solution to exploitation on campus. The Student Affairs Department is yet to approve the price list.

4. Delay in the Renovation of Shodeinde Hall: The school embarking on the renovation of Shodeinde Hall is laudable and the students have praised the management for embarking on this project. However, the delay in completion of this renovation have given space for questions, rumours and different issues that can be clarified by only the management. Shodeinde Hall was supposed to have been completed by February and the reason for the delay is not known to the students who suffer its close down.

5. Power Supply: While the issue of power has been painted as a national one and have attracted mixed feelings from all and sundry, the implications of the issue of power is enormous than that which will be experienced outside the University of Lagos. The following are the reasons for the above claim:

i. The only accepted means of cooking at the University of Lagos is through electric cooker thus the Students of the University of Lagos depends solely on power to cook. Majority of the students prefers to cook themselves because they don’t buy food from restaurants for many reasons, some of which includes Health, quality and quantity of food at restaurants, while many depend on foodstuff because it reduces the cost of feeding.

ii. Water is a basic amenity which its importance cannot be overemphasized. Without power, water cannot be pumped to various hostel and faculties. As such, this has given rise to long queue of students trying to fetch water and many going to classes without taking their bathe. Furthermore, without water the toilets will be in a mess and this can in turn posed different health challenges.

In view of the above, it should be noted that neither the students nor union have demanded for 24 hours power supply, what the students leaders clamoured for is that the management should give explanations on why the university still run on two generators which can only supply 30% of the electricity needs of the university community while provision has been made for four. Where are the remaining two that was bought? Are they on the sea: or at the port?, have they been returned? These and many more are the questions that are been asked.

6. Medical Facility: The issue of medical facilities are being raised by student as a proactive measure in order to avert negative occurrences in the future. In a community that has more than 35, 000 students excluding staff and other who either transact business, or visitors who troop in on a daily basis, having only one ambulance for medical and emergency reasons is not good enough. Many times, the ULSU Bus is used to convey students in emergency cases which is inappropriate. On this issue of ambulance, what the students have clamoured for is that an additional ambulance should be purchased and if it is purchased, why is it not available and when will it be on ground?

CONCLUSION

The aforementioned issues and many more that are not mentioned in this release are the reasons why the University of Lagos Students’ Union Leaders and the student populace embarked on the peaceful protest. The rationale behind the students demanding the Vice Chancellor to address them is because they felt that he is the only one that can be trusted as the Students Affairs Division, especially the Acting Dean of Students Affairs, in person of Dr. Karo Ogbinaka, has not conveyed their messages rightly and the students have lost their trust in him. We would like to state clearly that according to the Constitution of the University of Lagos Student Union, every student has the right to demonstration. On a final note, The Press Club, UNILAG hereby state that the protest was largely peaceful.

Culture / Alake Is A Junior Traditional Ruler In Yorubaland – AWUJALE by dharyour93(m): 9:07pm On Mar 10, 2016
The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has described the Alake of Egbaland as a junior traditional ruler in the hierarchy of Yoruba obas.

Oba Adetona, who spoke on Thursday in Lagos, said it was wrong for the incumbent Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, to categorise himself as one of the five topmost traditional rulers in Yorubaland. He said even within the Abeokuta community in Ogun State where the Alake reigns, he is the least among the four traditional rulers there.

Adetona, who spoke in Lagos at the launch of an endowment fund for a professorial chair in governance in the Department of Political Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, said it had become imperative to set the records straight since Oba Gbadebo had not disowned the statement credited to him on the issue.

Oba Gbadebo had during a visit to him by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, on February 7, 2016, said he was among the leading Yoruba obas. Oba Adetona, speaking on Thursday, said Oba Gbadebo was inexperienced, hence the need to tutor him.

He said: “Your Excellencies, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, kindly allow me to digress a bit to comment briefly on a statement that emanated from the Ake Palace recently. Not long after the installation of Oba Alaiyeluwa Adeyeye Ogunwusi as the Ooni of Ife, he undertook steps to foster unity and cooperation among leading Yoruba Obas and for which I personally commend him. First, he joined the Alaafin at his 77th Birthday Celebration at Oyo. Thereafter, he visited me at Ijebu-Ode on Friday, 29th January, 2016 followed by another visit to Abeokuta on Sunday, 7th February, 2016 where he met Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbedebo in his palace at Ake, Abeokuta, the Osile, Oke-Ona Egba at Ago-Oko, Abeokuta, the Olowu in his palace at Owu, Abeokuta with the exception of the Agura of Gbagura, Abeokuta who was not around then.

“The Alake, while receiving the Ooni at his palace said that Yoruba Obas (the Big Five so to say) had been categorised with the Ooni in the first position followed by the Alaafin, the Oba of Benin, with the Alake coming fourth and the Awujale as the fifth in that order. He also went further to quote wrongly from a 1903 Gazette to support all the fallacies in his statement. When I learnt of the statement, I made several calls to Alake until I eventually succeeded in finding out from him if those statements were actually made by him, which of course, he vehemently denied.

“In a recent discussion between the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and I, we also touched on the same issue and the Oba of Lagos told me that he too had asked Alake the same question, which he had again denied vehemently. Regrettably however, when the said statement few days later was continuously credited to Alake on the pages of newspapers, I expected him to deny it or issue a rebuttal, but he did not do so.

Therefore, I consider it necessary to debunk the aforementioned falsehood and misrepresentation of facts from Ake Palace so as to put the records straight.

“First, I would like to make it abundantly clear that the 1903 Gazette referred to by Alake was just a Newspaper publication that he, in his self-serving role is now presenting as an official Government Gazette. The first question to Alake is: Who categorised the Yoruba Obas and when? I challenge him to produce the document of the said categorisation. It is a known fact that Alake was a junior traditional ruler under the Alaafin at Orile Egba before he fled to Ibadan for refuge as a result of the war then ravaging in Yorubaland.

Following the defeat of Owu by the Ijebu Army in 1826, the Owus became refugees all over Yorubaland. Some of the Ijebu troops that fought the war proceeded to Ibadan where they met Alake and sacked him, consequently forcing him to seek refuge at Ake in Abeokuta in 1830 where of course, he met the Osile, Olowu, and Agura already settled at Oke-Ona, Owu and Gbagura sections of Abeokuta Township respectively. Even then, the Olubara, of Oyo origin had always argued that all the aforementioned four rulers met him in Abeokuta and therefore claimed to be their landlord.

To even refer to Alake as ‘Alake of Abeokuta” not to talk of Egbaland, is a misnomer, as his control since his arrival at Ake in 1830 and till today is restricted to Ake section of Abeokuta. The official Government Gazette testifies to this fact. In short, the Alake from history and all available records is a very junior traditional ruler in Yorubaland. His peers in Ijebuland are the Dagburewe of Idowa, Ajalorun of Ijebu-Ife, Akija of Ikija–Ijebu, Olowu of Owu-Ijebu, Oloko of Ijebu-Imushin, Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo and Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye.

“I wish to recall that there had been an occasion in the past for three of us – the Awujale, the late Alake, Oba Oyebade Lipede and the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Ooni of Ife – to sit over this issue with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at Aso Rock, Abuja. My advice to Alake, being a young and inexperienced traditional ruler, is that he should contact Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for proper education so as to save himself and his people from further embarrassment.

“It is important for Alake’s education to appreciate that Ijebu has been in existence for almost 1,000 years and that we are the only people that still remain in our original homestead while other Yoruba towns and villages have relocated twice or more. If only he cares to obtain a copy of the Book: ‘The Ijebu of Yorubaland 1850-1950’ by the late Prof. E. A. Ayandele, that erudite Professor of History and endeavour to read it, there, he will know who the Ijebus are and appreciate that from time immemorial and since our settlement on Ijebu soil, Ijebu was indeed a nation until 1892 when we were defeated in the Magbon War by the British colonial forces. As to be expected, the British colonial masters left no stone unturned to humiliate us for daring to engage them in a war.

“When Sir Gilbert Carter read Intelligence Reports on Ijebuland at the Home Office in London, he felt convinced that the Ijebus were a special breed. Therefore, when he later found himself as Governor of Lagos Colony, he prepared a Treaty for the Awujale to sign so as to allow the Missionaries to educate and evangelize the people as well as surrender their monopoly of trade between the coast and hinterland and for which he offered an annual payment of 800 pounds that was rejected.

“Notwithstanding the conquest, our early contact with the expatriates was quite significant and rewarding. It was during this period that our God-given commercial acumen was brought to play, resulting in enormous prosperity for the Ijebus to the envy of our neighbours.

“In conclusion, I hereby strongly admonish Alake to refrain from making such unsavoury, unguarded and unfounded statements, which if not checked, may seriously jeopardise the unity of Yoruba Obas and their people.

Who is Genuine in Nigeria?

Senator Ben Murray Bruce turned 60 yesterday, he took the opportunity to launch his book "The Common Sense Revolution" but it's sad to see that the event in its totality portrays the average Nigerian Politician.

Usually, I hate to attend these so called "Big" events but it was Ben Bruce, the common sense guy, I jumped at the Opportunity to go with my department, department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos as we were invited with a letter and we were feeling all important. We didn't know it was an invitation to humiliation.

At the venue, we were told to go upstairs, we didn't mind, as they said that area was reserved for students. Getting there, I realized it was a perfect view to watch the "Elites" wine and dine. Still, we didn't care. We only began to care when the ceremony kept going on and all tables kept getting additional contents and we were just there, like Observers. Don't forget that we were invited, as I said earlier.

While all of that kept happening, I still didn't care because they said every guest will get a free copy of the book. I wanted the book so, I waited on. At the end, only the guests got the Book. I had to look at our invitation to be sure we were guests. Yes, we were guests but the stiff class stratification that Senator Bruce Criticizes came to play.

It's so sad to see that the actions of the Common Sense Guy justifies the "Common Sense is not so common" statement.

Since I know it's all fake, I'd like to give a professional PR advice. It's so bad, if you invite Nigerian Students, who will, to a large extent, determine your political success, to an event only for them to watch you and your rich friends dine. Their votes aren't even enough.

Writing a book about Common Sense doesn't actually make you have Common Sense. We aren't hungry people. We are Unilag Students and we are contented with what we have, we wouldn't go to shop 10 to sweet-talk anyone about common sense, just to get rice.

Happy Birthday, Senator Ben! Thanks for the deceit, segregation and above all, thanks so much for the Palm oil made Jollof Rice with a meat-like object.

My Review goes thus:-

1) Try to make sure that the PHP code controlling the contact form is in the index page or better still, use ajax to control the contact form sender. It is best practice to have your Contact Response on the same page as the Contact Page. If you can't have that, design your contact.php to look like the index.html page. I see you're more of a HTML/CSS/JS person.
2) I suggest you change the index.html page to index.php since you will be using a .php file or script for the contact sender.
3) The portion in red should be adjusted. I suggest U remove or make dimmer, the phrase "Creativity is Style" so that the content on it appears better
4) In the portion in blue, The space between the Nav Icon and the Nav Text is too much I suggest U reduce the margin between them.
5) The portion in yellow where you have "Website Designer & Developer" should be made more visible. The text is too much into the background. I advise U use "font-weight: 400; color: #ddd;".

Overall, nice one.

It quite unfortunate that a 300 level Accounting student of the prestigious University of Lagos, Anekwe Oluchi, got electrocuted last night.

According to sources, it was said that the high voltage wire fell on her while she, a friend and her sister were walking through the axis of New Hall while heading back from church. She was immediately rushed to UNILAG Medical Centre but we unfortunately lost her.

It was also reliably gathered that Oluchi, till her death, was a first class student, and active in class.

The entire University of Lagos Students loved her, but God in His wisdom saw fit to embrace her.

Narrating the circumstances that led to the gruesome murder of her husband, the mother of one said, “At about 8pm on July 25, 2015, I received a call from a man who identified himself as Lekan Olusho, that my husband has been killed and that I should go and pick his corpse.
That was simply how I received the news of the death of my husband. I don’t know anybody called Lekan Olusho. I don’t even know the particular house in Ago-Owu area where he was staying with his friend. My husband works with a private security company in Ogun state. It was Lekan and his gang of cultists that murdered him. All I want is justice. Those involved in the murder of my husband should not go free,”

Throat slit open
Crime Alert gathered that the throat of the victim was slit open by cultists who invaded Ago-Owu street in Bariga area where he was staying with a friend. His wife was later called to pick up his corpse which was abandoned on the street. It was learned that in the course of investigation, detectives attached to the State Criminal and Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, arrested nine suspected cultists in connection with the victim’s death.
Among the suspects were ; Taye Ajayi, 20; Biodun Olaide, 25; Aliu Adisa, 26; Sunday Nwukuliye, 27; Micheal Odubamise, 22; Abu Mohammed, 14; Adetayo Adeboye, 24; Basiru Rewane, 20; and Ayomide Surulere. The police also recovered a cutlass and two charms from the suspects.

Suspects deny involvement
However, one of the suspects who vehemently denied the allegation, Taye Ajayi, told Crime Alert that it was one Lekan Olusho, who is currently at large that slit the victim’s throat with a machete. “ It was Lekan that called the victim’s wife to pick up his corpse which was abandoned along the street in Ago-Owu,”he stated.
Another suspect, Biodun Olayide, 25, told Crime Alert that although he smokes Indian hemp because of cold and the kind of job he does as a commercial motorcycle operator, he was not involved in the fighting that caused the victim’s death. “ In fact, I don’t know anything about the victim’s death.
I live at Oworonshoki area and the incident occurred in Bariga. I was arrested on Saturday which was an environmental day while I was taking a passenger from Oshodi Park to Olajide bus stop. I was going to work when I saw some policemen. When they asked me to stop, I didn’t because I ddidn’t want them to arrest me.
They chased me and eventually caught up with me. I have been a commercial motorcyclist for over two years now. My two front teeth were removed during a motorcycle accident.”

May God help us in this country...This is the deplorable way refugees are being fed at the Internally Displaced Camps in the North..The children who are striving hard to ensure their survival are being fed in the "Nigerian" way as shown in the pictures...little wonder why they suffer malnutrition.

bootstrap is CSS i said 90% of my work is already done in bootstrap so no need for me to rewrite my css, I don't even use css, I use Stylus and less it's more convenient for me.
I use bootstrap a lot but for just scaffolding. Using bootstrap as a framework for Jr project will give U r project a bootstrapish feel. I used bootstrap for http://blitzplus.com/ as well as http://creamcompare.com/ but U won't see the bootstrapish feel.

PS: Nobody should come here and tell me Cream Compare isn't responsive.

Ok, but do you think it will be possible if the css and js files are compiled as well? I am planning to deploy an offline app that will run on OWIN self host. a web api backend with angular frontend. I dont want the client to end up being able to rip it apart, remove the license on it and re-sell.

I can't tell yet. But for me, if I have access to Ur css file, I can do anything to Ur app style. I remember how I redesigned Tomato Cart to suit a client's need by editing just the css.
