Eke40seven: I must commend your write up. I didn't bother my self responding to all his analysis. Common sense: Block account is your money and you have access to it. There are a lot of students in Germany working and earning and at the long run, large portion of their blocked funds remain intact. Common Sense: I can't imagine my self running to a country where I have to pay tuition and also bother about up keep...my Papa non be dangote! So if I have to study a 3-4 years course, I will have to work out my ass to cover for tuition and upkeep whereas there is a country called Germany where I only have to work for my upkeep. Think about long term benefit and not the huddles of securing a visa. Common sense is not common! 8 Likes |

My people una weldone ooo. Abeg make una non start another fight. Blame the hard times in Nigeria and not german laws. These guys are kind enough to offer you free education. Blocked account is your money, you have access to it. The German authority just wanna be sure that you have adequate funds to care for your self due to several gist they get everyday "how rat chop person papa and mama and them swim Atlantic reach germo". There are Nigerian students in UK, US, Canada, Australia paying over 10k dolls for just tuition and spend over 10k per year for upkeep. Make any body non run germo down. If germo too hard bro them non beg you jeje port somewhere else. To those already in germany, if u know say e non good jeje go give them back your study permit and them go gladly put u for Lufthansa one way straight lagos. Nija non regard their citizens and here is a country that offers free education and only want you to declare funds for your own upkeep. God bless Germo jor! 20 Likes 2 Shares |

Cars in Nigeria are mainly from US and Canada. Cars are quite cheap over there compare to europe. Majority of the cars shipped from US and Canada are auctioned and damaged cars. These cars get flooded and damaged by snow during the winter and they go on auction. cars from places like california are expensive cos no snow over there compare to cars from New York. It's way cheaper to buy cars in Nigeria except you are importing from the US |

praiseovie: I advice you not to complicate issues for your self. Choose either block account or sponsors letter and stick to it. Block account and sponsors letter are treated differently. For example, if you hand in an application and u used a blocked account, the embassy look out for db confirmation. When you hand in a sponsors letter, they investigate your sponsor if he has got enough income to run his/her home and also sponsor you. They also check out his or her track record. You don't expect the embassy to welcome your sudden change from block account to sponsors letter. NOTE: I am not a VO just advising you (common sense). Thanks 7 Likes |

Dear prospective students, I believe in hope, I believe in opportunity and I am optimistic! No place on earth is rosie, but with the way things are going in our belove nija, I won't blame a banker who resigns and chooses to pursue a degree and career abroad. But I won't advise anyone to sell landed propert or take loans to come here cos that's gonna make u desperate and put more pressure on u. Life is more than a pay check! Sometimes we also desire to be in a society and be respected as humans regardless of ur family name and background. As a student, do not allow ur family back home put pressure of sending money to them on u and also do not paint any picture of having a goldmine in Germany. Cut ur coat according to ur material, do not be in a hurry take out time to search for cheap accommodation. Do not run down ur block account before implementing plan B. As soon as u settle, look for a mini job of atleast 450 euro basis. life in Germany is all about proper planning. 3 years ago during my BSc program, I had a class mate who was working and and he spent all his savings on flight ticket just to visit Nija. I told him that he was out of his mind. And here are my reasons. U are running to Nija to spend ur summer holidays when other students are staying back to pick up full time jobs to enable them save and work less during school session. He succeeded in visiting Nija, came back broke and was working hard during school session and in the cold winter to meet up. That's ridiculous! As a student, u should plan. There is time for everything, I rather stay back during summer, work full time job save some money that I can fall back on during school sessions. If u work and save during summer, u can conveniently work a mini job during school session and ur studies won't lack. And my last advice...there are 2 kinds of foreigners in Germany. Those that wanna pursue a career here after studies, and those that wanna return back to Nija to pursue a career after studies. Clearly define the part u belong and chase ur dream. Good luck my people and God bless all ur efforts! 19 Likes 3 Shares |

My dear pple, every Mallam with e kettle ooo. Do not follow some negative comments here. Germo non good, them beg u come here? Abeg carry ur bag go where good for u. I won't advice anyone to come here with high expectations but trust me, Germany is one of the best place for studies. Ask pple in uk, Canada, us they don't only work to pay bills, majority also work to raise tuition. And here is a country that gives u first class education for free and u are there running ur mouth like broken tap. Drop that mentality of currency conversion u are in euro zone not naira zone. I guess u are also scared to buy deodorant after ur currency conversion. I pity ur bf and class mates, u go don use body odor finish them. I usually do not direct my post to people, but I think a member should be voted out. Her poorverty consciousness is above board. Imagine someone converting to buy banana? For food way u one eat? I imagine if u make ur hair or buy clothes. What a mentality! My advice to incoming students, do not come with high expectations but trust me with ur part time job and full time holiday job, u can survive well. Them beg u come Germany? Flight they to Nija everyday waiting u they wait for? Go bath jor and buy some deodorants! U carry ur family problem come they use discourage pple here. Germo good for me jor cos I only work to take care of my self and not thinking of tuition. Go baf! 13 Likes 3 Shares |

The new block account rate takes effect from August 1st. This is not about German embassy or db. It's about the German government improving the standard of living for their citizens and permanent residence. before now, German students receive 670 monthly from their govt as study grants (bafög) which amount to 8040 yearly. Effect from August first, they are gonna get 720 monthly which amount to 8640. International students are to comply with the new regulation effect from August 1st. The money is for you they just want to be sure u have enough to care for ur self and not relying on social benefits. God bless Germany! After all in UK, Canada, US students pay high tuition and still take care of them selves. But Germany is tuition free, u only pay semester fee and u get a semester transport ticket that covers the entire state. Wow! If only you know how much such tickets cost for normal German residence, then u will get on ur knees and thank the German govt for their benevolence. I know it's difficult to raise the said amount but Nija govt is to be blamed for that. Students come from all over the world to study in Germany and they all open a block account apart from eu citizens. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

My little advice! Dear incoming brothers/Sisters, Studying abroad is a very good decision and above all in Germany because the world respects anything that is made in Germany. But during your studies, try to plan ahead of time and make good use of the international opportunity. For example, try to register as graduate or undergraduate students with societies relating to ur field of studies. For example, I am a member of the American society of biochemistry and molecular biology. I have bin opportune to attend annual meeting in San Diego California, and another research meeting in Vancouver. Sometimes u don't have to fund the trips your self. In my case, I was asked to write a scientific abstract without plagiarizing any text book or online document. I did and I was granted travel allowance that made my trip successful. I am not trying to compare nations, but I felt overjoyed during my trip to Vancouver when I saw a lot of Africans working in banks, IT firms, insurance companies, surgeons and lots more. I got talking with some of them and majority where Nijagida. I was very happy with my self unlike in some countries where u only see our pple working at restaurants or cleaning the toilets. Like I said before, policies matters a lot! There are some that gives u opportunity and there are some that limits u! I am glad I had the opportunity of meeting a lot of people in California and Vancouver. And I hope some day, me too go wake up in the morning, dress smart and zoom to work. But that one non common for our pple here ooo na 2/1000. Wish u all the best my belove pple! 9 Likes |

dprinz99: You are right bro! But ur success as a graduate student, depend largely on policies. For you to remain in Germany after studies, u must get a job that is directly related to what you study. If you studied computer science and u get a job as a store keeper yawa don gas for u. The question u should ask is, how many firms are willing to employ u? But in Canada, immediately after studies u get a visa to remain regardless of ur nature of job. Canada ve got a good immigration policies that might earn ur entire family permanent residency. Europe is cool, but my brother if u have got opportunity to study in Canada grab it ooo! Na osho free carry many guys come here ooo. As a black man, e non easy to get white collar job here oooo! There are several limitations my brother. Anyway, God is with us all. There are always stones to greater height. 4 Likes |

Neyoalao: who non go non know! Some risk are not worth it. The risk of selling a house in nija to pursue germo dream is not worth it at all. There are a lots of limitations in here that i wouldn't want to display online. It's easier to build a career in an english speaking country. it's not all about studying in Germany, its about integrating into the german system and believe me that would take another 5 years and above that is if you are very lucky. What you study also matters alot. if you are going to germany to study social sciences like banking, accounting, economics, finance and you wish to work with that in germany after your studies h.... OYO for you! May be 2/1000 of African population. If you think the system here will absorb you into their financial sector, insurance, economics after studies hmmm it means you are over lucky. You cannot compare germany with UK, Canada, USA in terms of life after school. The limitations in Germany are far more than what you think. I did BSc and Masters and i am very sure of what i am saying to a very large extent. If you are into engineering, sciences then there is hope for you. Mind you, I am not discouraging any one. But my point is plan before you take any move. Your planning should start from the city to study, what to study, life after studies. WHO NON GO NON KNOW! 6 Likes |

NRW, the best German State for students! Low cost of living, a lot of unskilled jobs, friendly people. These are the things any prospective student should put into consideration before choosing a school. You cannot compare the cost of living in Duisburg, Essen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf etc. with any city in Bavaria. My little advice! 6 Likes |

Schwartz: Collateral is even worse cos definitely, he won't be able to pay back and he will end up loosing it. Do not Sell Your House...If you do, u will so regret it and perhaps you will get so frustrated and jump on a fast train. Do you think money grow on trees here? here is all about reality and not faith. People working full time can not afford a house in Nigeria not to talk of mini job. Landlord wanna sell his house to pursue German dream, don't dare it. 4 Likes |

styles2009: All through my period of studies, I was never requested to provide 8k. My work contract was enough. Let me make this clear, u see those foreign office guys? sometimes they go against the lay down laws just to make things difficult. According to the law, when u are coming in from nija u must provide a block account which is able to take care of you for a year. When you are here already, during renewal you are suppose to show to them that you are able to pay your bills of which a work contract is just enough. I did BSc and Masters here and I was never asked to provide 8k for renewal. Thanks 8 Likes |
