You're still thinking like our old politicians. I said we want to vote online directly with our mobile devices and you're talking about traveling. Come, see, take time o...
zomby:
There should be a national law that says “as a citizen of Nigeria you must vote at your home state”
You cannot relocate from Kwara state to Oyo state and be permitted to vote in Oyo state during the gubernatorial election, you must return to kwara to vote.
Without a doubt, the northerners will embrace this new law, simply because they respect themselves and also have fondness for where they’re from…same goes with the Yorubas. I’m also very certain that the igbos and all others in the country will accept this law.

This should be one of the things the new administration should focus on. Yes, we are all one, but this new law will give all Nigerian citizens a sense of attachment, inclusion, and kinship. It will also protect various heritage all across the country.

Something tells me that this law will be passed and enforced very soon.

Nigeria's secret security service have acquired those techs since Chibok girls under Jonathan, they improved like x500 under Buhari, that's why Buhari was assuring Nigeria that insecurity will end not knowing that sentiments will always supercede doing the right thing. Presence of these satellites are in all part of Nigeria but heavy in the North and Southeast.

Islamic sentiments slowed down security action in the North. While "Igbo marginalisation" slowed down that of the southeast. But they still used it in full capacity but only take out major crimes that drew mich attention.

Technology is good. Soon Nigeria will acquire face recognition tech.

Romance / Re: Why Do Married People Don't Find Pleasure In Sex. by Dicado: 12:29pm On May 25, 2023
You are totally wrong. There are many factors that affect one's sexual urge of which stress is one of them. Check this out, why do most rich women become sugar mummies to younger and active sexual partners? The answer is simple, due to a limited physical stress. But check out marriages where women deny their men sex, they're either doing all the chores plus taking care of their babies plus their baby adult husband, working 20 hours everyday etc.

Some factors are medical conditions. Some people especially women lost total pleasure in sex in their mid 30s and instead feel pain every single sex they have.

Some other factors are age. Most women fake their ages, so by age, you will begin to only feel sexual urge once a week until it becomes once a month, etc. as a woman ages.

Other factors are lack of love to even ignite urge in women
ChuksHills:
Indulging into sexual practices or many sexual practices when you're not married as a man or woman will make you get tired or not finding pleasure In it when you eventually get married. I heard many couples complaining that their partner is denying them sex which is not right.

This has been the situation of many women which results to them denying their husbands sex. Come to think of it I have never heard any woman complaining that her husband is denying her sex.

And looking at it, this men and women aren't up to fifty years finding no pleasure in sex because they have done it severally when they were single and have lost all the joy and sweetness in It and now it is affecting their marriages today.

My dear single brothers and sisters try to abstain from sex for the sake of your future marriage so that you and your partner can enjoy it without no one denying each other of the process or getting tired of doing it or finding no pleasure In doing it.

Sex is something that God ordained for marriage for the partners to be bonded as one flesh. When says the singles to flee from it he has a reason because he created it.

Politics / Re: Buhari Years: Triumph Of Unemployment, Poverty -Punch Editorial by Dicado: 10:04am On May 25, 2023
Naturally, old men sleep. Buhari slept for 8 years and he just woke up to realise that his tenure is ending. Tinubu will do likewise.
iwaeda:

AS he departs for his Daura, Katsina State home, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), bequeaths a tortured legacy of economic devastation. Its highlights are record levels of unemployment, poverty, inflation, hunger, and despair. Though the regime has been making claims of achievements across all sectors, the reality of poverty and joblessness intrude stubbornly into its narrative. For many, his regime represents the worst era of economic privation ever witnessed in the country since independence.

Contemporary figures tell the story succinctly. At the United Nations threshold of $1.90 per day, nearly 12 per cent of the world’s population living in poverty today dwells in Nigeria, declares Statista. Global consultancy, KPMG, in its Global Economy Outlook Report, estimates the country’s jobless rate in 2022 at 37.7 per cent, and projects this to stand at 40.6 per cent this year. Experts forecast inflation to spike even higher if the government follows through on the promised withdrawal of petrol subsidies next month, provoking more job losses, hunger, and poverty.

Meet 'Oriogbade' Ibadan Man Popular For Witty Yoruba Proverbs
Buhari met a battered economy, with sharp drops in public revenue, bogged down by over-reliance on oil and gas receipts, low tax receipts and huge fiscal leakages, and skirting recession. But bewildered by the complexities of managing a modern economy, insular and statist, and distancing himself from experts, he failed to take the necessary bold measures. Instead, he applied outdated, ineffectual measures. The result was two recessions on his watch, huge debts, energy crises, capital flight, a foreign exchange crisis, a crashing currency, decline in foreign direct investment, production slowdowns and poverty.

Nigeria’s downward economic trajectory preceded the regime. Previous governments had for long been running the country aground. His immediate predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, crowned his rudderless tenure by bungling the 2013 power sector asset sales, thereby denying the country of a major engine to facilitate an economic rebound. Prices of oil, the country’s mainstay, had been falling since mid-2014, thus putting government’s finances in a precarious state.

The National Bureau of Statistics said more than eight million Nigerians were unemployed in 2015 (10.44 per cent of the labour force). This was worrying enough to make voters reject Jonathan at the polls on Buhari’s promise, among other considerations, to reverse unemployment. When he took over, another 13.5 million people were considered underemployed; that is those working for less than 40 hours per week, or in jobs that underutilise their qualifications.

But soon, according to NBS figures, the unemployment rate rose steadily, reaching 23.1 per cent in 2018 and sharply to 33.3 per cent in 2020. Bloomberg reported in March 2021 that Nigeria briefly surpassed South Africa on a list of 82 countries whose unemployment rates were tracked, with Namibia leading with 33.4 per cent.

Only 20.7 million persons between the ages of 15 to 64 were willing and able to work and actively seeking work, added the NBS, compared to 19.6 million in Q2 2015 and 17.7 million in Q1 of the same year.

In the youth segment, the situation is explosive. A report by The Spectator Index, a financial news online source, stated that 53 per cent of Nigerian youths were unemployed, making the country the second worst in the world, behind South Africa, which has a 61 per cent youth unemployment rate.

The youth unemployment rate is expected to rise to 58 per cent by the end of this quarter, according to Trading Economics. In a country with the youth accounting for over 60 per cent of the population, this could spell disastrous consequences.

Unemployment has continued to be a challenge due to the slower-than-required economic growth and the inability of the economy to absorb the estimated over four million new entrants into the Nigerian job market every year.

Buhari had initially promised to provide three million jobs yearly through “public works programmes and shifting the economy towards value-added production.” This would have delivered 24 million jobs in eight years. He could not deliver.

Poverty is raging. NBS research indicates that the poverty rate that had risen to 61 per cent by 2012, increased to about 69.01 percent by 2015. In 2018, three years into Buhari’s tenure, Nigeria replaced India as the world’s poverty capital, according to the ranking by the World Poverty Clock, and held it for four years until the Asian country regained its title in 2022.

The NBS sealed the regime’s legacy when it released its Multidimensional Poverty Report 2022 that it had undertaken with support from several other national and international bodies, showing that 133 million Nigerians are ‘multi-dimensionally’ poor.

How do we remember Aisha Buhari?
Hunger is its companion. Nigeria was ranked 103 out of 121 countries in the 2022 Global Hunger Index. It ranked 103 out of 116 countries in 2021 and 98 out of 107 countries in 2020. The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation has warned that 25 million persons in the country face the threat of hunger from the second half of this year.

Even before the COVID-19 crisis, the World Bank in its 2021 Poverty and Equity Brief said, “Around four in 10 Nigerians were living in poverty and millions more were vulnerable to falling below the poverty line, as economic growth was slow and was not inclusive.”

A further 31.9 per cent of Nigerians had consumption levels between $1.90 and $3.20 per person per day, making them vulnerable to falling into extreme poverty. Given continued oil dependence, rapid population growth, and limited job creation, Nigeria has struggled to invigorate the broad-based growth needed to tackle poverty.

Indeed, there were factors beyond the country’s control. Apart from volatile oil prices, and inherited distortions in the economy, the world since 2020 has been reeling from the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Russia-Ukraine War. Climate change, floods and insecurity have made recovery, job creation and poverty alleviation tougher.

The World Bank had forecast that the COVID-19 and oil price crises could push around 10 million additional Nigerians into poverty by 2022. The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs reported that the global unemployment rate rose from 5.4 per cent in 2019 to 6.5 per cent in 2020; the number of unemployed persons rose by 33 million to 220 million.

Nigeria, however, had ample opportunity to rebound. But Buhari repeatedly made mistakes, opted for wrong choices, and ignored expert input. When in an economic hole, development experts advise reaching for the ‘low-hanging fruits.’ Buhari did not; had he reinvigorated the privatisation and liberalisation programme, privatising the loss-making moribund refineries, concessioning viable airports, concessioning the ports, the Ajaokuta Steel Company and other state-owned steel assets, he would have unleashed a floodgate of investment, job creation and competition. These have been proven over decades across the world. These measures would also free funds for investment in social services and critical poverty-alleviation interventions.

His various poverty-reducing intervention schemes—such as Trader Moni, Farmer Moni, Empower and others – were expensive but had limited impact. Buhari did not partner closely with the organised private sector as required in an economy on the ropes. He surrounded himself with cronies with statist instincts like himself, locking out alternative ideas.

By failing to tackle insecurity, agriculture, transportation, and manufacturing suffered. These, along with inflation and the energy and foreign exchange crises crippled SMEs which together with agriculture are the largest creator of jobs and defence against poverty.

Buhari had said in 2019 that he aimed to initiate policies that would lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty over 10 years, and in June 2021, he claimed to have lifted 10.5 million Nigerians. This was shortly disproved by the World Poverty Clock report showing that indeed more Nigerians slipped into poverty. On the same day Buhari professed to have dragged over 10 million out of poverty in two years, the number of Nigerians living on less than $1.90 daily was revealed to have risen by 41 per cent.

The regime’s several poverty alleviation programmes, from SURE-P to conditional cash transfers and the like, did very little. They were cosmetic and some threw up scandals.

The government has not done enough to plug revenue leakages. Remittance of statutory funds to the Federation Account by many agencies is low. The House of Representatives identified over 60 government agencies that failed to remit funds. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company admitted that it did not fund the account throughout 2022. Such behaviour deprives the government of funds for investment in the economic and social sectors.

In the end, Buhari’s eight years have deepened poverty and joblessness. The millions of youths without jobs, with a few fleeing abroad, others roaming the streets or engaging in menial jobs tell the story; so do the millions of poor struggling to survive in a country and under a regime that had failed them. They will not miss him.

This one na comedy. You should have said South East will fall instead.
There are other kingpins tribes that have no problem with neither Igbo nor Nigeria:
Tribes like - Akwa Ibom, Ijor, Ogoni, infact Niger Delta regions, Middle Belt, Some Southwestern states, etc. etc. How can the Igbos fall them in the first place? Why not say Nigeria politicians will fall instead? Our problem is our leaders and not Nigeria as a whole because even your politicians will be the first people to squeeze the hell out of your gut. So, guy, trust me, nothing mega. Las las na una people go suffer am.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, on Wednesday, threatened that should its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, “fall in the hands of Nigeria, then Nigeria and her leaders will fall in the hands of Biafra.”

In a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, the pro-Biafran group said it was disappointed in the United Nations, European Union, African Union and ECOWAS for keeping silent while its leader continued to be detained for almost two years by the Federal Government.

The group accused the Supreme Court of bias in the handling of Kanu’s case, saying the apex court was conspiring with the Federal Government, which “wants our leader to die in detention,” given his ill health.

“It is also possible that the DSS has given him (Kanu) a slow-acting poison, which is why his health keeps deteriorating to eventually kill him.

“In what we consider a conspiracy to kill our leader, the Nigeria Supreme Court, the constitutional court refused to entertain an appeal from Kanu’s lawyers over his deteriorating health. Instead, the apex court gave a wicked long adjournment of four months in the case of an innocent man that appeal court Justices have discharged and acquitted.

“In all these human right and court abuses, there seems to be a conspiratory silence among international organisations and her affiliate human rights organisations.

“As the health of our leader continues to deteriorate and the Federal Government refuses to obey lawful orders and the world maintains this criminal silence, IPOB will do all within our power to ensure that our leader does not die in detention. Freedom for Kanu is the freedom of the entire black race. Kanu is not a criminal. He is not a terrorist, nor has he been associated with Nigeria treasury looting, which Nigerian politicians are known for.

“We are telling the international community and African Union in particular not to blame IPOB for whatever becomes the aftermath of Nigeria’s continuous disobedience to both local and international laws in the case of Nnamdi Kanu now.

“We want the world to understand that IPOB is peaceful but understands our right of self-defence. The gentleness of a tiger should not be taken as cowardice. Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable. Our prayers are that the Nigerian government will do the needful on time because if our leader falls in the hands of Nigeria, then Nigeria and her leaders will fall in the hands of Biafra,” IPOB said.

When one of our correspondents asked the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, for comments, he declined to speak on the issue.

During the just-concluded elections, politicians and their supporters used social media to manipulate public opinion, either by deliberately spreading false information or misrepresenting information to suit certain narratives.

Most times, they either spread fake news about candidates and their parties or manipulate discussions and existing data to earn support and sympathy for their favourites.

A viral post claimed that Ayo Adebanjo, leader of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political group, said the Igbos should be allowed to secede if Nigerians do not want an Igbo man to rule the country.

“Nigerians want Peter Obi to be their president by voting for him. If INEC dares to rig the election, Nigerians should protest seriously for international communities to intervene. Culture / Re: Nigerians, As Good As Local Garri: Resisting Change And Embracing Tradition by Dicado: 7:07am On May 16, 2023
cheesy Come on! O, it's the word "tradition" that's confusing you. Sometimes, read twice for understanding. Well, in the simplest of terms, tradition in this context means "the old casual way of doing things" which in this context is unhealthy and not the "worship of gods, or marriage rites, or whatever" you're thinking as tradition. For instance, eating garri is the norm of the people and it is also a tradition. However, the process of preparing and storing it is not hygienic, and advancing on that would not stop you from eating garri which is the core tradition, neither did it change the tradition of selling garri however, it will advance on its preparation and storage which will be more healthy. Look at AC generators of today, they're far different from old generators but they're serving the same purpose. A 5kw generator used to be very large but today the size is twice smaller than the old ones, yet still producing the same power, now this change in size would save space and also the sound ain't as high as the old ones. This is what this professor was trying to explain, and it is clearly because we lack scientists in the government sector that will educate the public on the dangers of some "traditions". This attitude also affects the Nigerian politics, and national security as well as prosperity. Even politicians and many of you were still thinking that despite using an advanced election method that without party structure, one would loose elections, but people without structure were among the top 4 (something that has never happened in Nigeria), in fact, INEC has to switch off their IREV just to maintain the "Tradition" because something shocking was about to occur. Do you understand? Chai! My guy... Abeg think, think, think! No be everything we go wan argue to prove point.

this is food safety bagged or no bagged, not handcrafts or factories, and it has nothing to do with tradition.

New news of the Russian-Ukrainian war is presented by this episode of Samari TV.
And starting with a new leaked document within the group known as “Discord Documents”, its content was published by the American newspaper The Washington Post, and it indicated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with his army commanders, planned missile strikes and the landing of special forces in the Russian depth, in addition to destroying the Russian gas pipeline that extends to Hungary. (Druzhba gas pipeline) and the bombing of Hungarian factories operating with Russian gas as punishment for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for his stances against military support for Ukraine within NATO.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian General Staff said that it had succeeded in shooting down 4 pieces of the Russian Air Force, including two Sukhoi 34 and Sukhoi 35 fighters, in addition to two helicopters. double77:
Russia has conducted two high-precision strikes on Ukrainian military facilities, the Defense Ministry claimed on Sunday, adding that all designated targets had been hit.

The ministry said in a statement that long-range air and sea-based weapons were fired at areas near the city of Ternopol in Western Ukraine, and the village of Petropavlovka in Dnepropetrovsk Region in the country’s southeast. The strikes targeted both areas of troop deployment and depots containing ammunition, weapons, and military equipment Kiev had received from the West, it added.

Earlier in the day, several Ukrainian officials in Ternopol claimed that the city had come under a missile bombardment. The mayor, Sergey Nadal, said that the strikes hit several warehouses, adding that two people were injured. Later, he claimed that an unspecified number of civilian buildings and cars were damaged in the explosions.

Vladimir Trush, head of the local administration, released pictures of Ukrainian firemen putting out a blaze in what appeared to be an industrial area, claiming the fire was caused by a Russian attack.

In the early hours of Sunday, air raid warnings were issued across Ukraine, with local media reporting blasts in the cities of Kiev and Kharkov, as well as in Sumy Region, and several other locations.

Zelensky also survived his own assassination attempts by "whoever" it was, so, let Putin also enjoy his own. That's Zel. 1-1 Put.

Seeker675:

A friend who was kidnapped but managed to escape by God's divine grace, told us he saw so many people especially girls chained up in that forest ready to be slaughtered for their organs. These people are not just kidnapping people for ransom but for their organs. Isn't this too sad.

He mentioned about one time someone with a police convoy came to buy human parts, and one of the police men told these guys to move inside the forest that people have already started noticing. The police are definitely involved in this! It's beyond evil.

How they operate: They mostly operate using one chance, mostly with tinted Keke bus, they pick up and unsuspecting and passenger even if the police hear them screaming out for help, they'll pretend not to hear till they drive to this etche Forest where they are slaughtered for their organs. The police men literally turn deaf ears and blind eyes when they see these guys kidnaping people.

The most recent case was a 12 year old student in Rivers State that was reported on nairaland here. Haba! How can people be this heartless?! Kidnapping a 12 year old on her way to school, to slaughter her and take her organs, isn't this the peak of evil? And the state government isn't saying anything about this. Etche Forest recently has now become the headquarters of human trafficking in Nigeria, if not west Africa.

We need the military to thoroughly comb that forest and they'll be surprised the number of people chained and held captive in there, waiting for their organs to be harvested and sold off.

Please for travelers entering Rivers State, beware and watchful while passing through that etche route.

This needs to be brought to the notice of everybody till something is done about it, and this people brought to justice.

Xavi truly understands football... As for Messi, if he goes to the Saudis, he'll be bullied for every single game lost! But back home in Barcelona, the coach or team members will be blamed. As for this Joan Laporta, he's a total fool for letting Messi out of Barcelona in the first place.
Romance / Re: I Want To Marry Her But Discovered This Thing by Dicado: 3:21pm On May 15, 2023
Kikikikikikikiki... You never ready for marriage. Angel intervened for Virgin Mary own. So, keep searching until you're 78 and still searching
lovediehatelive:
I met this pretty homely girl sometimes ago.

She was reluctant the first time I toasted her and won't want to date me. However, I persisted till she succumbed.

She's everything I want in a lady. She didn't want to visit me when we started dating until one day I promised that I won't touch her.

She visited and was so graceful that I thanked the heavens for sending my soul mate to me.

We discussed a bit and I made her feel comfortable because she was really uneasy.

As promised, I didn't touch her. She felt so free that she rested her head on my chest.

The urge to kiss her became so strong, but I resisted.

What's the use of spoiling things now when she can be mine forever?

She later left and we became really close from then.

I was happy because she's madly beautiful yet so down to earth.

I was thinking she is a virgin but I needed to clarify.

So one day, I used talk to bring talk and stylishly told her a bit about some rough life of my past for her to feel uncomfortable.

She later opened up to me about her first kiss and how the guy went on to have sex with her even though he promised her nothing will happen.

She was 19 years then.

Since then she stopped visiting guys and is no longer in contact with the guy.

She swore that she hasn't kissed or had sex since then.

Now she's 23.

The thing is I really deeply love this girl because she's just exactly what I needed. But I promise myself that I will marry a virgin and nothing else.

My love for this girl is beginning to affect my thinking.

Should I ditch her and keep looking for a virgin?

Or should I continue with her?

I'm planning to see her people this December.
Culture / Re: Nigerians, As Good As Local Garri: Resisting Change And Embracing Tradition by Dicado: 2:59pm On May 15, 2023
However, he noticed that the people had maintained the same traditional method of processing cassava into garri for ages, including the storage method. This method posed some safety concerns because, as the unpackaged garri moved from person to person, it was exposed to many dirty hands. In some cases, rats would defecate on it, yet it would still be consumed, even if the consumer was aware of the contamination. He also discovered that at the markets where garri was sold, the food was exposed to pecking flies, cold and wet weather, sneezes from sick people or allergic reactions, footwears carrying sand, lizards, pet animals, and more.
superclosestool:
a person in a foreign country must integrate into the local community, otherwise they can only wait to be excluded by the locals. this has nothing to do with whether to uphold tradition, he always has to find a way to survive living in unfamiliar land. and no one wants their hometown to become an unfamiliar land and then become someone who, although still living in their hometown, is actually homeless in their hearts.
most people are willing to accept gentle and slow change, but the example you gave is too inappropriate. Is it possible that everyone just doesn't like packaging garri, or more likely, packaging garri itself is not as cheap and delicious as locally processed and unpackaged garri.
