Members of the United States Military of Igbo descent who served or currently serving in the United States Armed Forces under the aegis of the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID) have written to the US Department of State over President Buhari's persecution of Igbos in Nigeria.

In a letter jointly signed by Chief Sylvester Onyia, President and Dr. Godson Obiagwu, Secretary, and obtained by IgbereTV, AVID condemned what it called the "oppressive condition" of Igbo people entrapped in Nigeria and sought for Department of State's urgent action.

AVID further urged the United States Government to urgently restore the indigenous people of Biafra as a country carved out of Nigeria adding that "only an Independent Biafran Republic will ensure the Safety and Security of Igbo people especially now that Nigeria slid into security dark precipice." The letter reads in full…We are citizens of the United States who honorably served in various branches of our superior military at different times and on different conflict theaters. We are members of the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID), incorporated in the state of New Mexico and headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, EIN#: 85-4277623. Some of our members were born of Igbo tribal ancestry of the southeastern part of Nigeria and became United States citizens by naturalization before or during their military service. The rest of our members are natural born United States citizens of Igbo tribe, Nigerian parents. All our members are therefore honorable men and women who meritoriously served or currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Our Christian parents, siblings, relatives, classmates, friends, and well-wishers still live in the Igbo part of Southeastern Nigeria.

We are bringing to your notice that we are stressed and stretched beyond elasticity by the oppressive condition of our people entrapped in Nigeria and we seek your urgent action. We are not oblivious to the laissez-faire nature of Nigerian President Mr. Muhammadu Buhari's leadership. His slothfulness has exacerbated in a chaotic gap in national security and freedom of the people. Our attention is drawn to the following life-altering events currently going on in Nigeria: General Insecurity, heinous violence, corruption, and graft, abductions and harassment of hundreds of school children, Incessant kidnappings of law abiding citizens, Breakdown of law and order, Open grazers with AK-47 weapon by Muslim Northern Nigerian brothers of the President killing people at will, Fulani hegemony, the murderous slaughter of Non-Fulani ethnic groups, Chronic youth unemployment, Mayhem in the Middle Belt of Nigeria without prosecution or accountability, Free installation and tacit enforcement of Muslim Caliphate in Eastern Nigeria, Atrocities and genocide meted out to Nigerian citizens without consequence, Government appointment of Fulani tribe indigenes to key positions such as NNPC, RIRS, NCS, NPA, Defense, Finance, Education, Justice, FTC, Agriculture, Police Affairs, Aviation, Communication, Power, Water Resources, FERMA, NYSC, PTDF, NTA, FAAN, EFCC, ICPC, NFIU etc. Dastardly act of support for Bokoharam and Myeti Allah Muslim terrorists, Politics of the second Niger bridge, Nigeria where people killed by violence are not counted, Corrupt politicians, impostors, thieves with their government accomplices, Execution of Eastern farmers on their indigenous farmlands with no prosecution, Gruesome rape of young Igbo girls and married women, unprovoked killings, massacre, maiming by Fulani young men and nobody held to account, Army and Police killing of unarmed defenseless youths at Lekey Toll gate, Execution of Christians on church grounds during church worship, Police frequent brutality, Unconstitutional arrests, detention, and killings of political opponents, Abduction and execution of foreigners, Security condition and Human Rights violation, Excessive China monetary loans for development of another country, Government protection of criminals, bandits, terrorists, Epileptic electricity and dilapidated infrastructure, Lack of navigable roads in the Eastern parts of Nigeria, Woeful condition of Universities and academic standards, Government appointments from only Fulani tribe, Eastern Nigerian men pillaged, slaughtered en mass within their indigenous ancestral land with no consequences, Violent military inversion of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's ancestral home and consequent fatal slaughter of Igbo youths, Forceful conquest of Orlu in Igbo land and its attendant wastage of lives and properties, Culpable, reckless, and gross neglect by the federal government, Attacks and massacre of Eastern people of Ebonyi State, Enugu state, Abia state, Anambra state and Imo state, Disproportionate installation of military checkpoints in Igboland, unprovoked harassment of innocent people and monetary extortion, Stifled constitutional freedom and protection of citizen's lives and properties; freedom to assembly, association, speech, and extra-judicial killings.

The American Veterans of Igbo Descent unequivocally and officially report these vices to you and seek your consent to review these problems. Our assessment is that Nigeria is irretrievably divided and cannot be ameliorated. The Igbo people seek a referendum to become a new nation called Biafra. The Western Yoruba people want to become a nation called Oduduwa. The Middle Belt people want to separate from Nigeria and become a new nation. We urge our nation (United States of America) to urgently restore the indigenous people of Biafra as a country carved out of Nigeria. Only this will ensure the Safety and Security of our people especially now that Nigeria slid into a security dark precipice.

The people of Southeastern Nigeria have the right to self defense. Their youths are infuriated, have no future, and have no guarantee of life, safety, security, and protection. Because of these anomalies, AVID advocates, stands with, and expresses our unalloyed support for, and takes a strong stake in the redemption of our Igbo people.

We, therefore, declare as we vacate our silence that Southeastern Igbo people have their constitutional rights taken away by the Nigerian Fulani-led government. AVID stands to assuage the anguish the Eastern people of Nigeria have endured by leveraging your support to assure our oppressed people that their suffering will soon end. Our solemn pride and request hinge on the strata of freedom you can provide to our oppressed Igbo people of Nigeria.

The unusual happened on Friday in Kusasu Community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger state, when a group of bandits engaged one another in a gun battle, leading to the death of no fewer than 12 of them while scores were seriously injured. Many others escaped for their lives, leaving their camp in Kusasu in complete disarray as members of the community watched with disbelief.

The internal fight among this group of bandits followed a sharp disagreement between the boys and their leader, popularly referred to as Mallam Dogogide who had accused his boys of shortchanging him after operations. Mallam Dogogide is one of the leaders of the three notorious bandits groups operating within Shiroro Local government in Niger and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State.Mallam Dogogide, it was gathered, had also accused his boys of going against their operational rules, by killing villagers indiscriminately and raping married women, and therefore decided to summon them for a meeting.

Mallam Dogogide was said to have, during the meeting, seized cachet of ammunition from his boys, threatening to sack them and recruit new hands for “their disloyalty” and flaunting the group rules of engagement during operation.

According to a family close to the community, Dogogide’s action did not go down well with his boys which led to a heated argument and in the process one of his boys attempted to kill him when he opened fire but the bullet could not enter his boss.

Drama occurred on Sunday, May 16th as mother of three stormed a church located at Kakamega, Kenya and disrupted a wedding while the procedures were ongoing! According to the reports, the woman identified as Susan had, before then, allegedly parted ways with husband about a year ago. After a while, the man decided to move on with another wife! The woman who claimed to have hired an informers to give her the address of the venue where the wedding would take place demanded the cancellation of the wedding right away saying her marriage with the man still holds! She further revealed that their union has produced two sons and a daughter! The woman who admitted that they were only separated for a while vowed never to allow him remarry with another woman as she is still very much in love with him. And also, he must must be committed to raising the 3 children together with her!

As the church became rowdy, the man in question hurriedly took advantage of the commotion and exchanged vows with the new lady. While reacting to the disgraceful moment, the bishop in-charge of the church said he was only invited to pray for the new couple. So, he didn't know anything about their past lives!

What started as a mere joke ended in sorrows when the 25-year-old man identified as Jack hit his friend, Christopher on the head using a spade as the two were on their usual jua Kali activities. The security situation in southeastern Nigeria presently is getting everyone perturbed. As it seems those residing in the region are beginning to fret over unusual movement. They are beginning to be suspicious of any unusual movement made by unknown faces. Presently, a video is circulating on social media. This video shows Hausa men, children, women being transported to the southeastern part of Nigeria in disguise for bags of salt. As was reported by an eyewitness. The said Dangote truck driver lied that he was carrying bags of salt inside his truck after police stopped him to check what he was carrying.

The police, Civil Defence were however shocked after discovering that the said truck was illegally transporting these children, men, women to the southeast in a dehumanizing way.

This video has gotten a lot of attention as many Nigerians are reacting to it. The majority thinks that this is indeed wrong. They blamed the truck driver for what he did and asked the police to arrest all those involved. They argued that all those inside the truck pose a security threat to the southeast region.

The Army warned members of the public that sharing the images of such soldiers who die in active duty is unpatriotic.

The Army in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima warned that legal action will be taken against those that continue sharing such images after its warning.

Yerima noted that sharing such images is done most times without considering the impact it may have on the families of the dead soldiers who may have to read information about the death of their loved ones first on social media.
