Base on your question, the Honda pilot is a nice car to buy, but you have to ensure you maintain it properly and follow manufacturer instructions as much as possible.

The transmission are prone to going out if wrong fluid is used.

The power steering as well net to be serviced with the right fluid.

The engine is very good

Yes it is. Came in from UK. Originally (RHD).

I think general Manual cars use lesser fuel and their transmission tend to last longer

I own a VW golf diesel(SDI). That engine is bomb proof.
It can never die.
Apart from the noisy combustion from Diesel engines, i feel they are more reliable than petrol engines.
Am currently doing close to 40 mpg. Never enjoyed such fuel economy in my entire driving years.

Is it manual?

update The car has been strong and dependable,
I drained the ATF fluid in January and replace with original Honda DW1.. change front brake pad and engine oil change.

It's not battery or starter issue as the car cranks just fine. It's cold start issue that started over 6months ago and has progressively worsened. It used to start at just a touch, then later I realized it took like a second longer but now I have to crank it like 3 times, 2 times if I give it about 10seconds after the first crank. I've changed the coolant sensor but it persists. I tried to change the fuel pump but the two I bought wouldn't work my mechanic think they are substandard. Scanning brought out a code related to fuel vacuum or so(check online says it's fuel tank cover problem) and that has been there since I bought the car over 5years ago. Car runs fine and starts at a touch after warm up.

Since you have rule those 2 out, you can proceed with the others.

I had similar issue on my vibe , changed coolant temperature sensor, changed fuel filter, change fuel pressure regulator ... No luck, until I tried a 75amp battery and voila.... It started normally, I was using a 62amp battery before and overtime it couldn't turn my engine at cold start. Later research reveal that all cars have a minimum cold crank battery amp requirement, my 62amp chinko battery wasn't enough.

1, check your battery connection tightness

2, check the status of your battery {replace if weak or if the cold start amp is lower than recommendation)

Start with those 2 before tackling the coolant temperature senor and fuel pump and pressure

You typically only need to add oil (PAG) when the AC system is opened up and a major component is replaced, like the compressor. In cases where refrigerant is just added, adding PAG would be unnecessary.

The question is, why do you need to add refrigerant? That suggests a leak, AC refrigerant is not a consumable like petrol, once the AC system is sealed with no leaks, refrigerant should remain in a constant volume indefinitely.

Meanwhile always insist on the proper PAG oil being used for your AC system. It should be in the manual or printed on a sticker in the engine bay. No let them use "universal" oil, which is usually mineral oil and can break down seals. Na there wahala dey start.

Hello all,

Pls my Toyota matrix 06 consumes fuel a little bit more than normal.

I replaced d air intake filter, clean the throttle body with cab cleaner, welds exhaust leaks, already bought original NGK spark plugs but yet to replaced, gas cap not clicking after lock, already ordered a new one but yet to arrive.

I did a scan & d following code popped up: P0420, P0441 & P0128.

Which of these is d real culprit & How do i eliminate them?

Pls i need help, i bought this car specifically because of fuel economy.

Please where did you find the original ngk spark plugs? I need them as well for a similar. Also what was the price per one.

I started my DIY adventure 1 year ago. Now I repair my car myself. I bought several tools I need on aliexpress. I can tell you most of the tools I now have, 98% of Nigerian mechanics have never seen in their life.

I have tool to test my spark plug
I have tool to test my ignition coil
I have tool to test my fuel pump
I have tool to test my engine health
I have a diagnostic tool and a laptop
I have tool to test short circuit wires
I have tool to test bad fuse
I have electronic tyre pressure monitor
I have tool that cleans my plug

I mean if you see my tools, you will think I manufacture car.

Most people abroad are DIY specialists.

I greet engrs in d house, PL my Honda Civic 07 engine temperature keeps rising above middle leading to overheating every hot afternoon when using AC btw 12:30pm to 2:30pm PL wat could be d cos because I hv coolant not water in radiator and thermostat have be removed still temperature keeps rising and anytime dis event wants to occur I noticed vehicle will be sluggish hard to accelerate. and top gasket is not blown. 10x

Do you notice any coolant leak after parking? Or do you need to top off coolant? Some batch of 8th Gen Civic do have crack engine block issue which can cause coolant leaks and overheating issues.

Nah why I like Honda... More power engine than Toyota for almost half the price

The funny thing about this issue is that it seems to happen to everyone... Around November and February... I bet the fuel in the filling stations those period were not good. Just my opinion. Or your car is above 120k miles (typical life of a fuel pump)

Happened to me too. You can change the complete full pump assembly . This would set you back about 20k or close. Honestly it is better than changing this and that which can easily add close to 20k if care is not taken.

Second option is to live with it, start the car twice to get up and go, starter life would be slight affected. The problem is not the pump it self but the ability of fuel pump assembly to retain pressure after sitting a long time/over night {normally handled by the fuel pressure regulator} and unfortunately since your system is a returnless system, putting the key in the on position will not help you build initial fuel pressure.

Contact radautoworks for oem parts or gazzuzz logistics to source grade A toks at ladipo.

we prefer full time cos of the huge bulk of workload involved and this training require serious concentration but u can as well apply if you can meet the required condition
