He said he was divinely saved when two policemen appeared on the scene to rescue him. “The bad boys left me and started beating the policemen. The policemen had to run away living us to our fate.” He said some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) who witnessed what transpired were afraid to come to their rescue as the hoodlums were heavily armed with dangerous weapons.
According to him, when their attackers eventually zoomed off, the LASTMA officials came and took photo shots of the scene and advised them to report the incident to the police.

The man regretted that the hoodlums after beating and robbing them of their belongings escaped without being arrested by the police. He wants the police to fish out the hoodlums, who he felt the LASTMA officials may have gotten the number of their vehicle as they watched what transpired from the beginning to the end.
He said it was a challenge to the police to find and prosecute the brigandage who beat him and his parents.
just too crazy something 'ordinary' people experience in the country- no dpo to call, no official, no justice, even with pictures and number plate of the vehicle all they will get is a police report

Shocking decision. . . Why not just sack him outright.
Of all the newly promoted teams, Babes have been the most impressive. They are currently 11th. The others are chilling in the relegation zone. I don't know if the Babes board are expecting him to win the league.
Before the break Babes were doing really. The finished 6th before the break and at some point were unbeaten in 8 matches.
I listened to Festus Allen on a radio show and he blamed his teams tepid performance after the break on the fact that his boys have not been properly 'motivated'. He also likened himself to Arsene Wenger, saying no other manager can get results with the set of players he is managing. The core of the Babes team are youngsters from the Kwara Football Academy.
Abi o, the guy is doing his first stint in the league proper and he is not doing badly with some couple of away wins to boot, something some established clubs couldn't get. The management didnt even consider the fact they have been moving up and down from their base. the problem with some club owners is they dont know their level nothing wrong with being ambitious but e dey cost money!

hmm you have to consider the fact the NCAT, allegedly didnt train flight pilots for about 10 years, only training ground crew due to lack of funds
and when they got some funding sent trainees outside the country for 'proper' instructions

Some few years ago Arik has scholarships for pilot trainees so i'm guessing they will take some on afterwards

I'm sure it was the shiznit back in the day,

Holy chit. I have heard of Nigerian university degrees being sold to semi-literate area boys and part-time hookers, but could this possibly be true in the aviation academies ?

Also, are there in fact any other Nigerian avaition academies besides the one in Zaria ?
There's a new on e in Ilorin meant to start this September/October
Politics › Re: Unemployed Nigerian Pilots Protest Influx Of Expatriate Pilots by DisGuy: 5:37am On Jun 10, 2011
The protesters called on  President Goodluck Jonathan to appoint a technocrat from the industry, preferably an air traffic controller, cabin crew personnel, pilots and engineers as the minister of aviation in this dispensation.
Holy Cow!!

the so called ministry should be scrapped and placed as an independent aviation department under Ministry of Transportation!

Politics › Re: Why is Cement so Expensive? by DisGuy: 11:05pm On Jun 09, 2011
is it only Dangote? why not blame larfage, NNCM, Ibeto and co?

if you can go all the way to Calabar UniCem slash their price to 1,600, its not by force to use dangote cement,

A major producer of cement in the southern zone, United Cement Company of Nigeria, has slashed the price of a bag of the commodity from over N2,000 to N1,600.

The company also has plans to increase its production capacity from the 1.3 million metric tonnes achieved in 2009 to 1.8 million metric tonnes this year, with a projection of 2.5 million tonnes for 2012.

1025:
@dis guy,
now that you are changing your position, let me lecture u or remind u this. assuming wenger buys osaze at 4 million, and osaze ends up with 15%, does 600,000 pounds not make sense to you or how long does it take a player to get that amount from salary.
if you talk quality, who was walcot when wenger signed him for 15 million?
if not for their non-respect for black players, tell me why ferguson will buy mikel at 4 million and then sale him for 16 million within days? why not 4.5 million?
why will wenger buy kolo toure for 500,000 pounds and sale him for over 20 million? osaze for God's sake is a tasted and trusted player even in the epl, what else will a player do to cost 10 million and above. if not for mounrinho, which player will ever worth 10 million to you?
what will u say if nasri is a black player and is requesting for 110,000 pounds per week?
depending on your initial negotiation you will make your money back (not sure for a nigerian player) but will image rights and sponsorship the money you get from sign on go be chicken change tax and all, Just a trip to Japan earned Beckham $1m

If you have a degree from tafawa balewa and a masters from Harvard, your level go change sharp sharp! Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea are not on the same level as West brom, you cant go from Goldmans to UBA for cheap money

There is brand name, you dont buy any regular player from a top team for cheap money, once you are in your prime and played for top team with a re-sale value you will be bought for more money, but if you are in your 30s in the EPL your re-sale value is not that much except you are a defender or GK

it's all about added value, Nigeria sells Crude Oil for $100/barrell, refined products of that barrell brings in $10,000

Players asking for wages is different from the price they are bought/sold for, it all depends on what you think you can get somewhere else. if you know someone can offer you that much you can use that to bargain for wage increase or just jump ship

The threat is really for the shareholders dragging the process in courts- No investor or major bank will want to deal with these sort of issue especially knowing how cumbersome the legal process is in Nigeria.

These shareholders can raise money- their money has gone with the stock market, they have no known backers yet they have refused every move to inject money from private investors

From all indication, the poster wants to return home.He needs strategies and opinions on how to secure job quickly upon arrival. You are advising him to stay on and look for good.Do you think an MSc holder is not smart enough to have considered various options before deciding to head back home?Do you think he has not thought of gaining some work experience before his decision to return?Do you think everybody wants to live and work abroad?

He is yet to conclude his program and now is the best time to make some good moves.
Dont know if i want to be doing this ping pong

From all indications the poster has several options- stay on to study for a PhD or explore opportunities elsewhere; I'm advising him to gain work experience before heading back home, he hasn't made a final decision to head back home! Do you think Nigeria is the only option for Nigerians?

When he's done his degree he will have more time and flexibility in his job search- looking for a job wherever he is- even if it is voluntary is more fulfilling than studying for some uncoordinated recruitment process in Abakaliki!! all options there should be exhausted before moving!

Soon, I will be finishing my master's in economics at one of the decent schools in the west. I don't have any plans yet; however, I am desirous of working for any good company anywhere in the world, What counsel do you have for me? I can also do a PhD upon completion of my master's and make about 1600$ every month, But I think the industry is where I want to be,

Don't mind them, easier said than done.Everybody says, get some work experience without realising that there are no jobs.Maybe they expect you to work at the train station as a cleaner with your Msc.

On the topic. If you have a 2.1 it will be much easier to get a job within a few period, this is because you stand a better chance of being shortlisted for apt tests and interviews. Also, try to prepare very well for apt test using SHL and GMAT, that will help you pass tests thereby giving you a better chance of being called for interviews.

Moreso, try and visit some job websites like naijahotjobs, nairaland career and vacancy section etc and also try and apply to websites of companies.I believe getting a job is a strategy, adopt the ones that will be effective for you.
you are a confirmed not-so-smart person!

you are telling him to look for work i'm telling him to look at getting some work experience; what's the difference? The guy is ultimately looking to work in Nigeria, wouldn't working experience get him through the doors than shl, gmat tests?

Whoever says getting a job/work experience was easy in the first place, sapele water

Correction, I don't have any hatred for anyone.
I completely comprehend the moves, like I said, I'll see if the strategy will work in 2015 showing I understood him well.

The problem now is, why Akume, someone that just joined the ACN 6 months ago? If the SW will sacrifice the minority position, why not chose someone from the SS or SE because it will be easier for ACN to take root in the South than it will in North.
Right or wrong? This is politics and I'll say it's a very wrong calculation by Tinubu.
E dey pain you?

Why are the SE/SS soo bothered about SW not vying for positions in the house? You scared of dropping the Aboki soap as usual?
