I called WES and for about 5 minutes, they were still playing music like those CC lines of Naija network providers. My friend in the US called on my behalf using my reference number and they confirmed they've actually received my transcript and sent copies to my school for verification.

Now they are asking for my certificate. The only option I have is sending it by fax as there's no email contact.

Abeg who knows where I send documents by fax and an idea of how much it costs?

WES sent me two emails last night, one notifying me that photocopies of my documents have been sent to my school for verification while the other mail contains the snapshot of my profile showing 'Received documents awaiting verification'.

The confusing thing is that:

1. I have not been able to track the document with the tracking number sent to me by my school official which he told me he sent last Friday.

2. When I checked my WES account, it still showed 'Awaiting required documents'.

And then I was thinking since the mails seem to be automatic, it could have been sent in error.

Who else has experienced this before? I need someone to allay my fears.

Doesn't take long. Say one week on the average depending on the courier/postal service used. Right now, schools are busy sorting out their fresh intakes so they might not have time your I-20 right now. They'll send your I-20 as soon as they are done with their freshers.

If the status of ur visa stamping ddoes not change by tomorrow, it will be better you take the bull by the horn. Go to your plaace of pick-up. It could have been there. Sometimes technology fails such that the udate remain the same.

The onus lies on you to choose which suits you. It's a cost-benefit thing here. If you can afford to forfeit N71k I think it'll be better cos you'll arrive the US much earlier than 27th August which gives you ample time to settle, and get relevant things done before 31st unlike you leaving here 27th and arriving around 29th (depending on how much the journey took you) meaning you have just 2 days to settle and resume school.

My brother, having lil time is gonna cost u more than that N71k you are trying to save.

In Ikeja area where I operate, I know of the GTB branches at Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, Kudirat Abiola Way Oregun and the one on Adeniyi Jones where I was yesterday and saw their internal memo where the selected branches are stated.

So hopefully this is a lesson. Some of the VOs have a bad reputation on Nairaland because people see them being refused, but maybe you are only seeing bad applicants get refused. Trying to dodge out of line delays the line for everyone else and, honestly, we see this and it immediately makes us suspect that you are trying to hide something. Just do the right thing and keep the line moving!

This serves as a warning/lesson to prospective applicants who have contacted the bolded norm (taking excuse to the toilet) somewhere on the thread . You never know if that's actually your moment. It takes God's grace, confidence and showing yourself approved.

What branch did you try? If u r still there, you can give me the name of the branch do I can confirm for u. But this is a decision that took effect today so it's possible some branches haven't caught on to it.

BTA and PTA is only sold in selected branches of GTB, not all.

Pls house, there's something strange I noticed on my Bros profile wen he was trying to apply for an expedited date I saw this " your passport is still with the us embassy/consulate" what does this mean and his passport is here with him.

As regards your last paragraph, 2 things are involved. It's either a system error or they thought his passport was retained (which only happens to approved visas).

I'll suggest you mail the consulate informing them of the development and for them to make clarification.

Haha... You know that small nylon that has a thin lock used to give out pills in the hospital? That's ziplock. It will be found in supermarkets. Comes in different sizes depending on what you wanna use it for.
