Congratulations bro. I remember you asked so many questions. Kudos to u. mbeenox: Visa approved today at Lagos consulate, I couldn't really sleep all through d nite coz my time was 6:30am Mehn I was nervous at 1st when they were placing stickers on passports n none was placed on minemine
The white lady with kissable lips interviewed me, I felt like confessing my love for her but the Visa was more important.
Here's my transcript
Vo: goodmorning Me: good morning Vo: u re going to university of Texas at Arlington Me: yes Vo: how did u get to know d school Me: I Google searched schools with expertise and research concentration in civil engineering Vo: how many schools did u apply to Me: 4 Vo: how many gave u admission Me: I was only admitted to 3 schools Vo: why UTA Me: I chose uta, bcoz I was impressed with their faculty profile, the graduate course cataloge have classes relevant to my research interest
Vo: what does the school have to offer in terms of research interest Me: the school has more than 15 professors of structures and applied mechanics Me: they re also building the largest structural testing facility in the country (I was busy making gestures with my hands showing how big the structural facility going to bebe )
Vo: when did u finish? Me: I finished in 2013 Vo: what have u been doing? Me: I did my youth service from 2013 to 2014 Me: after that I worked in my Dad's civil engineering firm 4 fouR months Vo: do u HV any1 in Texas Me: no Vo; who is ur sponsor Me: my father
Vo: your visa has been approved come n pick up at the circled location on......
I was really overwhelmed
My advice would be
*Apply to a good school, its better for d school to defend rather u trying to defend d school *You about ur dept what they have to offer n why u chose d school * never say u applied to 1 school * never say u HV someone in d state u re going * its always good to apply for masters in ur undergraduate course coz it removes d question of why u chose d course *Pray very well I'm very Thankful to God Mehn this trend has been very helpful, special thanks to Slimmy, Walspring I love everybody so much right |

Urch1980: Hi guys, Visa approved! Thanks y'all for your help. This forum is wonderful!
I wa the one that posted my mock interview and someone commented: "a stroll in the park". Yeah, that's what it was for me at the end of the day (a stroll in the park) cos it was a stroll with Jesus and favor worked for me. Lol. I also had a ds160 issue that I said I wantedd to update a new one that won't look like I was helped by an agent; but I still couldn't do that. I just went there trusting Jesus to help me, and yeah, He did; being my Big Brother.
Here's the transcript: Arrived at exactly 6:30 am. Checked in to final hall around 8:15am; went to the first lady who just captured my finger prints and told me to join the student visa queue.
Finally with the vo...
Me: good morning how are you doing (with a smile, and a sparkle in my eyes) the babe was a fine whitee...no I give it to her, she was pretty, ans she knew I was tripping for her, though I nor tell am o. And besiea I get girlfriend wey I love, wey fine pass am...
Vo: good morning ( blushing); pass me your passport. Vo: (goes through my documents) okay, you're going to university of... For your mba... Me: yes I am ( still smiling and looking her straight in the eye; and she was all smiles too)
Lemme better add here that it was God all the way. I kept Psm 40:1-5; Is 54:4, 7; Is 54 as my warring swords; and God showed up for me; like I just came to pick up what He had already finished and packaged for me. Jesus all the way ni o. If you don't have a relationship with Him, please do. I give Him the credit for this.
Vo: which other universitied did you apply to? Me: I applied to 3 other schoold, alabama a and m, florida state university and florida international university.
Vo: how many gave you admission? Me: university of bridgeport, and alabama a and m Vo: so why did you choose UB? Me: because it gives me exactly what I need to move my buiness to the next level. 1, the course content, one of the core courses is market and research methods, and I need this knowledge for the next phaase of my busineass.
Vo: so what is so special about this school? Me: (for my mind; nor be the same tin you aske me now and you nor gree make I finish) ( so I finished what I was saying) the faculty is made up of professors who are successful busineass men, and leaders in the business world; the likes of prof. McAdams.
Vo: who will be funding you? Me: I will be sponsoring my self; though my company has offered to support me financially when I need support, but I am up to the task.
Vo: What do you do? Me: I'm a business man, I have a company, and I work with the company as the ceo; and we have a board of directors. Vo: your company or family? Me: no me and a group of my friends; we're four of us; I am the ceo cos I have the major shares. Vo: what does your company do? Me: we have 3 units: 1 ...; 2...and 3... Vo: when did you finish your 1st degree Me: 2007 Vo: where? Me University of ibadan Vo: what did you study? Me: Veterinary medicine Vo: and what have you been doing since then? Me: : I started my company with my friends and that has kept us busy. Vo: alright, I will approve your visa, you'll pick it up on thursday. And this form, your i20 keep it, you'll need it when you're travelling Me: thank you ( with a wider smil) have a nice day Vo: you're welcome, thank you; and you too.
Na so I bounce comot o, dey feel like son of God.
Thanks to the guy that commented on my mock interview; you made me work on a better more worded answer.
And to everyone in the house; all the best! The God that did mine will do it for you too in Jesus' name; Amen! A big congratulations to you bro. Twas Stewee that commented on your draft. Thank God for all. |

“The Lord shall give me the tongue of the learned that I shall know what to speak to the Consular.” That was my declaration adapted from Isaiah 50 vs 4. Arrived the Consulate at about 6am. Did the usual checking (about 40 of us for the 6.30am batch) and we got into the final hall. Did our biometrics and thereafter sat patiently for the VOs to arrive. It got to my turn at about 7:30am and I was called to window 10 by a guy presumably in his late 30s. The following conversation which spanned for like 3 minutes ensued between us.
Me: Good morning (with a smile) and how was your night? VO: Good morning and fine thank you. Let me have your documents please. Me: I passed them. VO: Why are you going to US? Me: For my Masters in Business Admin & Mgt. VO: What school? Me: University of *****in ***** VO: You applied to any other school? Didn’t hear him well so I quickly responded “Pardon”? And then he asked again. Me: Yes. I named two other schools (Framed). VO: So why the school? Me: The school has the exact curriculum that matches my profile and as well have seasoned professionals both on-field and off-field in the likes of Dr. ****** and Mr ***** offering globally relevant education that will make me fit anywhere in the world. He cuts in VO: Where did you graduate from? Me: OOU VO: What course? Me: Economics. VO: Did you write GMAT? Checking my i-20 Me: No, I wrote GRE. (It was waived but I wrote it cos I discovered here that it’s always been asked for) VO: What was your score? Me: 302. I then passed the UNOFFICIAL score sheet I printed from my ETS account. He checked and returned it. VO: What would the degree do for you? Me: It will equip me with the required skill to manage my dad’s business efficiently when I return to Nigeria. VO: Who’s sponsoring you? Me: My Dad. VO: What does he do? Me: I told him. VO: Picking the collection letter, he said “I’ll approve your visa. Pick it up at this circled place on Saturday. Goodluck” Me: Thank you.
No financial document was asked for.
My profound gratitude to God who made it happen. Special thanks to this wonderful personality in Innovativeame who consumed his call credit on lengthy calls just for sessions of dummy interviews for my sake. Only God can reward you bro. Special thanks to those who keep the forum alive and interesting.
To prospective interviewees, God as well as confidence is key as it has always been emphasised here. I experienced that today. Thanks and God bless

Anything wrong with gesticulation while one responds to questions from the VO?
I've really been thinking. For me, it tends to be an involuntary action (Sure I'm not the only one with that problem).

Funny enough, Marrymee was pulling your legs and you guys fell for it. She needed an undeserved attention and you gave it to her. It could even be a guy behind the mask. Anyway it adds up to make the thread interesting.
To those who got their visas, congrats to you all. It is pertinent that you drop DETAILED TRANSCRIPTS so others could learn from it, otherwise, the essence would be defeated. What we are interested in is the detailed conversation that ensued between you and the consular officer and not the long stories regarded as preamble. |
