Mehn I was nervous at 1st when they were placing stickers on passports n none was placed on minemine

The white lady with kissable lips interviewed me, I felt like confessing my love for her but the Visa was more important.

My advice would be

*Apply to a good school, its better for d school to defend rather u trying to defend d school
*You about ur dept what they have to offer n why u chose d school
* never say u applied to 1 school
* never say u HV someone in d state u re going
* its always good to apply for masters in ur undergraduate course coz it removes d question of why u chose d course
*Pray very well

Yeah, that's what it was for me at the end of the day (a stroll in the park) cos it was a stroll with Jesus and favor worked for me. Lol. I also had a ds160 issue that I said I wantedd to update a new one that won't look like I was helped by an agent; but I still couldn't do that. I just went there trusting Jesus to help me, and yeah, He did; being my Big Brother.

Here's the transcript:
Arrived at exactly 6:30 am. Checked in to final hall around 8:15am; went to the first lady who just captured my finger prints and told me to join the student visa queue.

Finally with the vo...

Lemme better add here that it was God all the way. I kept Psm 40:1-5; Is 54:4, 7; Is 54 as my warring swords; and God showed up for me; like I just came to pick up what He had already finished and packaged for me. Jesus all the way ni o. If you don't have a relationship with Him, please do. I give Him the credit for this.

Vo: which other universitied did you apply to?
Me: I applied to 3 other schoold, alabama a and m, florida state university and florida international university.

Vo: how many gave you admission?
Me: university of bridgeport, and alabama a and m

Hello guys. Been asked to go picked up my passport @ DHL. I intend to defer my admission from Fall 2015 to next Spring. I am an ICAN having one more stage of exams to write. Can I defer on that ground? If no what oyher genuine grounds do you suggest I give? Help a brother abeg.

My brother, though your scores are quite low as you have said, you still do not have to go to the consulate without it. It's better than saying a NO if you are asked for it. Except you have intentions of writing another.

My visa was scheduled for 7.30 in Abuja on June 30, 2015. it was calmer and saner than the Lagos embassy (As I read from the posts here). After the bio-metrics, the Interview process started. the Vo's were fair, they allowed you make your case. for every five applications rejected, two were approved. It finally came to my turn and I was called to window 6, A lady (Probably in her mid-twenties) was the Vo.

I got my visa approved this morning. Thanks to all on this forum who shared their experiences.

Arrived the Consulate at about 6am. Did the usual checking (about 40 of us for the 6.30am batch) and we got into the final hall. Did our biometrics and thereafter sat patiently for the VOs to arrive.
It got to my turn at about 7:30am and I was called to window 10 by a guy presumably in his late 30s. The following conversation which spanned for like 3 minutes ensued between us.

Me: Good morning (with a smile) and how was your night?
VO: Good morning and fine thank you. Let me have your documents please.
Me: I passed them.
VO: Why are you going to US?
Me: For my Masters in Business Admin & Mgt.
VO: What school?
Me: University of *****in *****
VO: You applied to any other school? Didn’t hear him well so I quickly responded “Pardon”? And then he asked again.
Me: Yes. I named two other schools (Framed).
VO: So why the school?
Me: The school has the exact curriculum that matches my profile and as well have seasoned professionals both on-field and off-field in the likes of Dr. ****** and Mr ***** offering globally relevant education that will make me fit anywhere in the world. He cuts in
VO: Where did you graduate from?
Me: OOU
VO: What course?
Me: Economics.
VO: Did you write GMAT? Checking my i-20
Me: No, I wrote GRE. (It was waived but I wrote it cos I discovered here that it’s always been asked for)
VO: What was your score?
Me: 302. I then passed the UNOFFICIAL score sheet I printed from my ETS account. He checked and returned it.
VO: What would the degree do for you?
Me: It will equip me with the required skill to manage my dad’s business efficiently when I return to Nigeria.
VO: Who’s sponsoring you?
Me: My Dad.
VO: What does he do?
Me: I told him.
VO: Picking the collection letter, he said “I’ll approve your visa. Pick it up at this circled place on Saturday. Goodluck”
Me: Thank you.

No financial document was asked for.

My profound gratitude to God who made it happen. Lol...thanks. I misinterpreted as a result of him not being explicit enough by indicating it's in inches. He just wrote 2 x 2. A couple of us are used to the 5cmx5cm indicated on the DS160.

That's not normal. Please review all what you have filled in meticulously. You might have clicked on something you not supposed to.

Sorry about your denial. You simply have to pay another fee and look out for an available date provided it's not past your resumption date. However you need to post your interview transcript for gurus to help analyse and see where you might have gotten it wrong so you won't have to make same mistake. Take heart bro. Nothing good comes easy.

To those who got their visas, congrats to you all. It is pertinent that you drop DETAILED TRANSCRIPTS so others could learn from it, otherwise, the essence would be defeated. What we are interested in is the detailed conversation that ensued between you and the consular officer and not the long stories regarded as preamble.

P.S.: Personally, judging from facial expression and tone of voice, the guy that interviewed me and the lady to his right were the easiest to talk to among all of them. The smile on his face and his friendly tone of voice did a lot to calm my nerves at the beginning. Well, I guess that is also the G-factor at work.
