After dropping my passport at the Abuja Embassy on Monday 21st, I was issued a white paper and the lady told me to go pick up my passport at the GSS office on Wednesday 23rd,but until now I keep tracking via ustravel.docs and status reads" Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate"
I'm worried because my program starts 5th October,and I have already purchased my ticket for 2nd October.Does it means my visa won't be ready for collection before 2nd October?

Chill bro. It's a public holiday. They observe both Nigeria and US holidays. Set your mind at getting it on Monday.

Being in the country without your passport is illegal, so yes, you have to return to Nigeria to submit it.

What then happens in a situation where one loses his/her passport while in US (say B1/B2 or even on F1)? How does one clear the 'mess'? Please clarify.

Whatever your story is, there are people in worse situation. I wonder how you will cope in an organised system like US where you can't get away with such act if you probably manage to get away with someone writing your exam on your behalf. That consultant that will write for you will just swindle you. If you don't know, pictures are taken when you write the exams.

I have return with a shout of joy..After I was issued d yellow paper today at d embassy in Abuja, I immediately went to my hotel, knelt down and appreciated God that I wasn't given d blue paper,and then hurried to Delta line to board a bus to Asaba.Throughout d journey I was pondering why d yellow paper and how long it will take to conclude d administrative process.However,some persons at d embassy told me BTW 2 weeks to 1 year.Lo and behold when I got to Asaba this evening a message from d vice consular was in my mail box apologizing and requested I return to d embassy 1.30pm on Monday to drop off my passport. My brethren this can only be God.
I have return to sincerely appreciate u all for your invaluable support thus far.
I will like to use this medium to suggest if there is anyway we could know ourselves in realtime. Thanks once again...

School zones are equipped with cameras here. Your speed readings at the time, plate and car photos, a short video clip along with your ticket will be sent to you in an envelop few days after been caught speeding.

The Director for International Students Affairs asked me to write the admissions officers for a deferment till next term Spring 2016. She said once I have been confirmed for Spring 2016, she will mail the i-20 to me. I have followed her advise, but I never got any response. I have already sent about 3 email regarding deferment. Now I don't know my stand for Spring 2016 and i-20. I have been trying to be patient but I don't wanna die in silence. Please what do I do in this situation.

Seem they are still busy with their new intakes and that's probably why they have not responded.
I will suggest you call their graduate school contact number, provide your identity, and request for what your status is. I'm sure you'll know what's wrong.

If you are talking about sending a copy of your certificate, it's better you fax it using those free faxing websites. It works.
You are NOT meant to send your transcript by yourself but your school. Find out which of the options your school uses and you will pay the corresponding fee. IMO courier is better cos it's faster and you can always track it.

Remember to include your reference number in all your correspondences you send. Even when you faxing, you can provide it in the cover not page.

Visa appointment page, I-20, Sevis fee receipt, Visa payment receipt. Others are Admission Letter, Bank Statement, GRE or Toefl scores (could be unofficial score sheet), pay slip, resume, letter of sponsorship...etc.

That list u actually seeing is endless. You can however check using Google for the list of possible docs for F1 Visa. You'll find it there.

I must say that the interview session was very nice and gave insight to visa interview process most especially for the non-immigrant category which answered some of the FAQs. Now I know why VOs are never specific on the reasons for denials. Although I have my visa already, I found the information still very useful and I look forward to the next one planned to be dedicated to F1 (student) visas alone.

I encourage those who have not listened to do that, provided they have an hour to spare. The video is always in that link anytime.
