DARKLIGHT: Hello, boss! It's not asked of at the airport by the immigration or custom. From when I got my booking pass at MMA, Lagos through when I got into JFK airport, New York, I wasn't asked of the yellow card.
But, at the MMA, I did temperature check twice. That's nothing. . The italics font man! Happy u finally there. No wonder I kept sending whatsapp messages and they weren't getting delivered. Wish you all the best brother. God be with you. |

sirRiddy: throw gruber away, apologies to the gruber fans. sirRiddy how far? To the house, please I am having issue in sending my GRE scores. Once I log into my account I click on 'send scores' and then a page comes up where I am being asked to put my appointment number, exam date, and my email which I did but it keeps telling me that the details do not match the records. I have tried it endlessly. Even sent them emails and they are yet to respond since Monday. Anybody having a similar experience here? |

meritdee: My work experience is inline with my intending course which is Project management with focus in IT management.
Data center infrastructure management is largely IT management and part engineering management, construction management, safety management, conflict management, e.t.c...
Physics is also related to IT (computers and telecommunications). In fact, I started working as a Network support for my school ICT center in my second year.
She was just confused. Refire bro. Just prepare very well for your next appointment. It's pertinent that you do not forget the God factor in it. You get it at your next attempt. Cheers. |

meritdee: Here's my funny transcript....
Mind you, I'm holding a conditional admission which has 36months course completion on its I-20. Morgan State University plays too much aswear.
So after every screening and all, I was called to window 2 by one pretty chic (I noticed she's been frowning all morning tho)
Me: Good morning ma'am (with a forced wizardry smile) VO: *frowns* can I have ur documents pls? Me: *I be like 'what I do na?'* Gave em to her
VO: Can u pls place ur four fingers on the (didn't hear her but I knew she was talking about the fingerprint scanner) pls? Me: Placed four fingers on scanner and was staring at her... I knew she was done, but I didn't remove dem fingers until she said I should remove them.
VO: Where are you going in US? Me: Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland.
VO: How long is your course of study? Me: (for my mind, I be like 'beht why?' this girl no dey see komot eye?) 36 months
VO: What course? Me: MS in Project Management
VO: Who will be sponsoring you? Me: My uncle
VO: What does he do? Me: He's contracted to Ekiti State and Ondo State Government and he's into real Estate. He buys, sells and develops prop.. *Cuts
VO: Did you write any test? Me: Yes I did
VO: Which one (with strong face) Me: (Me sef give am ogbeni, calm down face) GRE
VO: Can I see it? Me: (She just owned me at this stage cuz I was looking for the LovePeddler print out that was making out with one of my documents) Sorry ma, gimme a min
VO: LET ME SEE THE PRINT OUT! (I guess y'all understands why I used the caps here) Me: found it and gave it to her. (Her mind come down)
VO: okay good, Why this school? Me: Out of the schools that offered me admission, MSU is the only school that has its school of management accredited by Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business. While also going through the graduate research works, I came across an ongoing research by professor Ali Emdad that centers on Addressing Enterprise and Vendor issues in Data Center Infrastructure Management which is inline with my work. I contact... *cuts me*
VO: Where do you work? Me: I said Airtel NG, but was transferred there by one of their contracted outsourcing and facility managem...*cuts* (I for just use vendor easily)
VO: When did you Graduate? Me: Dec 2010
VO: What did you study as undergraduate? Me: Pure and Applied Physics
VO: What do you do? Me: I work..... (she was staring at me straight in the eye now) so I continued and told her, I work as a Data Center support and Analyst.
VO: Dancing center what? Me: (For my mind, I be like... Dancing Salsa ni) Data Center support and Analyst
I though I already owned her here until she asked the question that killed me...
VO: What class would you be taking? Me: Project management class with focus on Information technology management. Listed 2 courses in this class *cuts*
VO: Unfortunately........................................ I no hear the rest Me: (With confidence level now below 10%) I just said the thank you and my crush on her died on the spot.
I don't know, but I think as a conditional admission student, I should have told her the 9 credit courses that would have qualified me for the major course instead of the major ones.
Thanks to Juntod, Innovativeame, Bigfrancis21, Slimmy and many others here that assisted in one way or the day and sorry for disappointing you guys.
Make I go clear my ish with my HR first, me that was thinking that I'd drop my resignation letter this week ehn.
I'm down but not out. Goodluck to others In my opinion, I think the VO woke up on the wrong side of the bed cos apparently she wasn't happy while she was conducting the interview session. I'm also wondering if the bolded parts are related in one way or the other. Often times (my inference from people's transcripts right here), the VOs like it when your undergraduate course as well as your work are related to your intended graduate course. |

ikuyinminu: So.. here is my transcript.. Very annoying and it got me down for awhile.
I was shivering the night before the day of the interview, I think it has more to do with the interview than the catarrh I got from kissing Bae. Momsy called the night to go buy Actifed *as if I go fit sleep o, for where I wake up for night still rehearsing*
It was a very breezy morning.. my uncle dropped me at the Lagos embassy with 'i don't like this people, u can't come here and achieve what you want, they always looking for what is not lost, see Banji.. I wish you the best'
After much screening.. I was called to window 1 *chinese-american guy* Dude has been dishing out blue forms since 19kiridum
Me: *smiles* Good morning Vo: Morning, please place your right fingers on the biometric machine Me: *placing my right/left with all smiles* Vo: Pass me your documents? Me: *Alaye just dey bone, I sha pass the papers* Vo: why are you going to the U.S Me: I am going to study for masters in information technology Vo: what school? Me: Minnesota State Uni Mankato Vo: typing fast * why Minnesota? Me: The school has a course outline program for tthe department that goes inline with my career path and my present job detail Vo: Is that what you studied in Undergraduate? Me: Yes.. I studied B.Eng ICT Vo: ICT? Me: Yes.. Information Communication Technology Vo: what year did you finish? Me: June 2012 Vo: Are you married? Me: No Vo: Kids? Me: No Vo: Have you travelled before? Me: No, I have not had any opportunity to travel since work has been keeping me busy. Vo: Did you write any standard test? Me: Yes.. I did Vo: Can I see the results? Me: *looks for the result of both toefl and gre, and showed him through the glass* Vo: I can't see it from here, can you pass it underneath Me: *passes it* Vo: where did you print this from? How many schhols did you apply to? Me: I printed from the result portal, I applied to 2 other schools. Vo: which and did they admit you? Me: Uni Virginia Charlottesville and Uni Kentucky Bowling green.. yes they admitted me Vo: *looking at me* YOUR SCORES ARE LOW? How come Me: I guess the test is not a criteria for admission Vo: who will pay for your fees Me: my dad Vo: *typing fast* what does he do Me: he is an electrical engineer with NNPC Vo: what's NNPC Me: Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Vo: *types scantily* errmm Unfortunately. .. bla bla bla Me: *feeling dizzy already* please what are your reasons? Vo: you will see it in the blue form I am giving to you.
Well.. I scored 282.5 GRE and 76 TOEFL. I am Cisco Associate certified Network Engineer
Thanks guys for your continued support. I won't relent. I spoke with a friend that just left.. he said he didn't write any test and they never asked. Dunno where I got it wrong. But I am grateful to God first and everyone that support one way or the other.
We don return back to work! Sorry for the delay brother. My observations are the bolded parts of your transcript. Bold 1: I wish your uncle never said those words in the first place. That's enough to kill your morale. He was already pessimistic about the outcome. Bold 2: Your reason for choosing Minnesota is 'watery'. You could have stated something tangible you stand to benefit from studying in that school which consequently informed your decision to choosing it over the others you applied to. Bold 3: Your reason for the low score wasn't good enough. You could have probably said you were slightly indisposed on the exam day and it affected your performance.(My Opinion). Bold 4: Every individual's case is different/ Unique. Refire bro. |

A brilliant analogy! Mystiqme: The bolded is your opening.
If you are not in the mood, read only the words in bold.
What do you do when a babe you like tells you she doesn't have a bf?
1. You ping her regularly abi? Open a stream of communication with this guy, but don't overdo it 2. Soon she'll stylishly ask about your gf. You will know there is progress when he asks for GPA, GRE and SOP. 3. You will constantly profess your love for her, and talk about spending a future with her. Talk to this guy about his research, his publications, and what future directions he wants his research to go. 4. You will not talk to her about x in the early days, right? Do not ask about money until you guys are in good communication, or until he raises it.
Finally, while I will not advise you to tell several girls you love them, I will suggest you keep lines of communication open with other profs until you have an offer letter in your hand. Anything can happen.
Just to add a bit to what godG said.
Best. |

No doubt your contributions sometimes are valuable to the thread but you really have to refrain from the shady things you do. You have once admitted that you've done some bad things here. DeeTus: Quite a lot of factors but revealing the intrigues here is not really good. Because those who are involved will feel somehow victimized.
I'm not here to make anyone feel sad. But those who give false impression about me is doing so out of character so to speak
We're only here to help each or one another achieve success. And I do hope somebody, majority of us will have the course to smile, get together and thank the moderator. Please save us the stories! It's a faceless forum and revealing those with different monikers would do a lot of peeps here good and help us to be more careful in who we deal with. Or you probably you have some skeletons in your cupboard. I see no sense in having different monikers except you are a mischievous individual. |

Loverswater: pls can someone explain to me the meaning of all this terms, i-20 and the rest, am actually new to the atmosphere here I-20 is a document sent by the school that has admitted you showing details like your name, course, estimated duration of the course, latest date of arrival/resumption to the school, total fee as well as the source of funds amongst others. It's a very important document such that failure to present it @ the embassy for Visa purpose or @ the Port of Entry would cause one to be denied Visa or entry into the US. Devote time (probably @ your leisure) to read through the previous parts of the thread. I'm sure you'll get the processes involved and how it works. |

CC: Slimmy05 scriptwriter19: Visa Approved at the Us Embassy in Lagos yesterday, 6:30 am appointment
Getting in to the visa hall, some guys on the right just kept denying people and quoting US immigration law for them, the ladies on the left were more lenient and listened more, before my turn the lady just denied a 13 year old boy who was going to high school on scholarship, i was a little scared but confident that God had my back, at this point, i didnt really care anymore (5th try)
VO: Why are you going to the US Me: To pursue a master's degree in public administration VO: Why this course Me: Looking at the system of governance in Nigeria which hasn't been the best in recent years, i feel we the youths need to stand up and try to make a difference, be the change we want to see, i believe this course will give me the necessary knowledge to come back to Nigeria and make a difference in a system that has failed its people. VO: Why do you thing you can make a change with this course Me: I specifically chose this course because of my planned area of concentration which is "Urban planning and development" and we all know that Nigeria has alot of rural areas in need of development with a huge shortfall of true professionals in that sector, studying this course will give me a unique advantage. VO: Who is paying for this? Me: I have a scholarship but my mum is paying for the rest. VO: (looks at my I-20 again) Do you have a letter from the school confirming the scholarship? Me: No, but i have the form they sent me when the scholarship was awarded (i passed it over) VO: Are you married? Me: Yes VO: Do you have kids? Me: Yes, 2 VO: Why aren't your kids going with you Me: My wife has a job, besides im coming back after my studies so i didnt see the need. VO: Im returning your I-20, you will need it at the point of entry, your visa has been approved, you can pick it up at this location. Me: Thank you (Didnt know how to feel, just kept smiling)
Walking out of the Visa hall, i saw a guy at the small security check point just outside the Visa hall, his visa had just been approved, dude knelt down, dropped his documents and started thanking God, security guard was telling him to leave, my bros no even answer am.
Now i have to leave in three weeks, is anyone here in ETSU? I need to find accommodation off campus, is there anyone here that can help or give some pointers? will be highly appreciated. |
