Lol...That's the impression we got even from Memphis indigenes who school here in MTSU until @Kenkool spent the last summer there. He came back with a different report about the place. There are safe and non-violent parts of Memphis too. He just needs to watch where he chooses to live. There are Nigerians in that school surviving.

You presented your old passport when you should have shown the valid one. However, what matters is the pin on that GTBank receipt. That's what enables you to book an appointment. You are fine.

Hello brother, I just got to see your post. I see bosses passed comments already. Just wanna chip in this: While it's nice to do what you are passionate about, it's important to be strategic about it to avoid being questioned at the consulate. IMO, apply to different schools for both majors, come to the US on ChemEng, and thereafter get a transfer. Transfers are usually easy (I once did), but then, a few schools would insist that you spend time with them. Check out the policies of your choice schools. Best wishes.

I'm a tech savvy guy, never been tutored but somehow catch up on tech. I intend changing to computer science from chemical engineering(fantastic field, but feel like conquering another) for masters.

Here is the thing; considering both fields are dissimilar, is that a red flag for the VO?

GPA:3.01/4.00 (WES unofficial)
GRE: In a couple of days
TOEFL: Next Month

I have been discouraged from changing field on grounds on visa & funding.

Schools I've contacted about MS in Computer Science(no specialization yet).
University of Texas—Austin
University of Massachusetts—Amherst
Brigham Young University, Provo, UT
University of Houston

UH seem to have the better option. Here is an extract from the mail with the CS grad cord (she was so blunt).

Every School i have contacted seem to be directly or indirectly hinting at have the pre-requisites down first before consideration.
So if i manage to secure admission directly without these pre-requisites i could end up having my 1st year solely on pre-requites and foundation courses at full cost as no one is will to fund someone still testing the waters.

Someone advised I secure an admit in chemical Engineering solely for the VO, when i get there I request for transfer of my I-20 to a CC to obtain these pre-requisites. After which I could have more options shooting for top schools and possible secure some level of assistantship, as a year in the school system will expose me to more ways to secure funding.
I'm skeptical of plying this route due to stories for the school insisting on having a semester with them before transferring of out-rightly terminating the I-20.

How will you advise i go about it?

Please I am really traped in the WES Evaluation process. My documents has been sent back to waec for verification, for weeks now no change in the status of the evaluation. I guess waec hasn't received any document from them. I have been writing to them, demanding for a courier service to send the docs so as to expedite the process, but all my emails goes unanswered; I only receive an automated acknowledgement message. I am beginning to regret using WES for Evaluation, their own protocol is too long. The deadline for applications from international students is Dec. 1st in the school I applied to, and all documents must be received by the deadline. I have sent everything, but just this evaluation, and it's compulsory to be submitted.
Please do anyone have an idea of how I can contact WES, they are just frustrating my efforts here.

Worry not! Remember the first place you did your bio metrics? Your picture was already scanned right there. VOs don't scan or retain pictures.

This is it:

Let's assume you keep your money with me, you had 7332 with me (opening), you then kept another 7.25m with me during the course of the period (credit) leaving all you have with me to be (7.25m + 7332).Thereafter you needed your money and collected 7250208 (debit). So what you'll have left with me 7124 (closing balance).

Basically the 7.25m went in and out with an extra 208 leaving your closing balance lesser than the opening balance by that 208.

Me in this case is your bank.

You should be fine. A Friend of mine had a similar experience and he was able to use that same pin on the receipt to apply for his F1. No qualms.

I made payments for visa appointment at the bank for a student who will be returning to school in the USA.
But when I received the printout, it has "BUSINESS/TOURISM" on the visa category section.

I pointed this out to the bankers but they assured me it has no implication, since all I need from the printout is the receipt number, and also "BUSINESS/TOURISM" category fee cost same as "STUDENT/ACADEMICS" category.

So, Pls can anyone confirm this Pls? Wouldn't want to make a mistake along the way.

Basically you can work 40 hours on campus during holidays. But then it largely depends on work availability.

For folks who are in any these disciplines; Business, Marketing, Accounting, Economics and applied to MTSU, I have two GA colleagues in the Department of Marketing graduating this December which leaves their spots open to be filled before beginning of Spring 2017.

Please try do your findings, relate with Profs in the department via emails, most especially the departmental chair (google dept of marketing MTSU) and develop a relationship with them.

Special mention and thanks to Profdot (President, African Students Association of ETSU) for receiving my humble self, Sorbitalll and two other friends yesterday. Despite the impromptu visit to Johnson City and call to him, he was so hospitable and humble. Many blessings to you Profdot.

Would have loved to meet Slimmy2005, Texrem and other Nigerians but we had to rush back to Murfreesboro same evening. Mheeen that place far o. The city is nice. Would like to visit again.

Hello guys in MTSU and ETSU. I got a friend who is interested in Engineering Technology (Occupation Safety). I guess folks are considered for GA....immediately there? Hope am rite.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will today resume dollar sales to Bureaux De Change (BDCs) seven months after it stopped the practice.

It stopped the sales last January because of what it called dollar scarcity and abuse of operating guidelines.

Speaking to The Nation yesterday, Aminu Gwadabe, Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) President, said nearly 3,000 BDCs are expected to access dollar from the CBN today.

He said the BDCs had on Wednesday, funded their accounts with the CBN in readiness for the transaction, adding that dollar disbursement will start today and continue next week.

“Our members funded their accounts with the CBN on Wednesday and will get the dollar equivalent today. The funds will be sold at the prevailing inter-bank rate,” he said.

Gwadabe said the funds would come at one per cent commission, which has been agreed with the regulator.

The CBN directed the BDCs to render returns and comply with anti-money laundering regulations.

Gwadabe promised that the BDCs would abide by the directives and continually provide detailed reports on how previous dollars sourced from the CBN were utilised.

I guess it's going to be a checkings account but will cost you nothing other than presenting your international passport, I-20 ( not so compulsory but it shows your status), and a little deposit. Banking is synonymous with ease right here.

However before committing yourself you MUST ask about the terms, conditions and charges related to the account otherwise you'lol lose money unnecessarily.

I went to BOA to open an account only for them to tell me $12 will be charged in the month I don't have a direct deposit of about $500. I picked race. I then went to Suntrust and I have enjoyed banking with them. No charges.

In essence I am advising that you ask questions before putting pen to paper.

Reporting live from Houston o. It a was a cozy flight with Turkish Air. The poe at IAH was so easy. The man just asked for my passport and i20 and stamped my pasport in less dan a minute. They couldn't have checked my bags for prohibited foodstuffs cos I went for baggage claim after the poe. Wishing u a safe trip in your time.

They would have ran it through the machine. You just wouldn't know.

good morning everyone. I made a mistake booking my ticket. It states I am not allowed to enter the US until 30 days before the start date on my I-20. So here's the problem. My ticket is for July 31st to arrive August 1st. Start date is September 1st. It skipped my mind that August had 31 days and the earliest I can arrive is August 2nd. Called my travel agent to move the am date up e to 3 days but she is letting me know that there are no seats till mid September and due to summer prices have escalated. Could this pose a big problem to me? Thanks for your 2 cents guys.

A costly mistake this is. Now you have to weigh the risks: forfeiting the flight fee or violating the entry rule. I still believe you can find a date before Sept 1. You may have to upgrade the ticket to fly Business Class at an extra cost if all economy seats have been filled within the 30 days of your resumption. Business class don't get filled quickly compared to economy. With that, you'll play safe. It would have been much easier if you booked directly other than through agents. That's my opinion. I hope it helps?

Welcome to Obama land.

Yea they do that. I missed mine too. So I flew with the next flight at no cost other than time. They just changed my boarding pass and that was it. Very considerate people.
