Foreign AffairsRe: King Charles Strips His Brother Andrew Of ‘Prince’ Title, Mansion by djoe21(m): 6:27am On Nov 01, 2025
Imindmybusiness:
News had it that it was the Palace(The Queen) that paid and not him just to put a stop to the scandal. Also some people in positions will pay to avoid scandal even though they may be innocent. If someone accuses you of something while you are already pasting posters to become ordinary LG chairman in your state now, even your handlers will advise you to pay to avoid the stress that comes with scandals. Blackmailers kow this and that's why they attack in your most vulnerable state. I'm not saying he is innocent but if I were King Charles, I wouldn't go this extreme in punishing him until a competent court declare him guilty. Leadership is about discernment and not pleasing the public. Suspend him from all royal duties and let him face the law. Removing his title permanently and chasing him away from the family home is too extreme that it now looks like he had been targeted all these time and an opportunity just presented itself.
For the king to take such actions, it is very possible he has seen hard evidences in private.

TravelRe: Japa: Many Nigerians Abroad Living In Regrets, Depression, Abike Dabiri-erewa by djoe21(m): 1:02pm On Mar 10, 2025
Saviola86:
This is one reason why I am never interested in japa

I am not rich but I am not hungry. I do not want a life of work work work every hour. I am big on family and spending quality time with my kids and wife. I do not what to goto a society where work will deprive me off my family because I need to pay for everything I use. Nigeria is bad but we are not hungry. Atleast I can still provide for my house and pay our bills. What is missing is luxury but the necessities are there. I am working really hard to get the luxuries but I am grateful for having the basics first.

I have seen friends travel abroad for greener pastures leaving their families behind. The closest one often cry in my DM everyday despite being gone for 3yrs now. It's a regret but he cannot come back empty handed because he sold almost everything.

The other friend after 5years in UK came back. Looking darker than he was and loss weight. He told me, he had to run back because the stress was too much. He was doing fine in Nigeria but decided to join the japa wave, going to do menial jobs, working in warehouses, taking care of old people etc when in Nigeria he was a big man with several workers. Thank God he didn't shut down his office, he had something to fall back to and decided to swallow pride and return home.
This is one of the best comments so far.
TravelRe: I Want To Return Back To Nigeria From UK Permanently by djoe21(m): 1:01pm On Feb 01, 2025
Krucifax:
OP pay no mind to the negative scary comments the majority are from youngings who don't understand the subject matter.
There are many of us in similar circumstances. I've been in the U.K for 20+ years. Many of my contemporaries are either going back or planning to go back. I too am planning to go back to Nigeria but here are some useful pointers for you as i have more experience than many.

-Moving back is a process that will take a few years if planned properly
-You need to choose a good location. Abuja is number 1. Lagos is number 2
-You need to sort out a bank account
-You need to sort out your BVN
-You need to sort out your NIN
-You need to sort out your driver's license
-You need to sort out accomodation.
-You need to sort out transportation.
-Also ensure you can still access your U.K pension after all your years of hardwork
-Keep your U;K credit card handy
-Arrange it so you are kind of in between the two places.(There are many reasons for this )
-Ensure you still maintain a U.K address(even if its a care of address where they collect your mmail(very important)
-You need a small network of people you can trust a bit. They will help you with errands, information and low level types of advise(where to buy things etc).
-Download the JIJI Nigeria app. Its free. This is a treasure trove of information and statistics. Tells you average price of things, house, cars, generator, rent etc amongst many other things.
-If you have the funds and wish to buy a house sites like NigeripropertyCentre.com is probably the best for house hunting.
-You need to sort out income generation. This is the most difficult part (and why we all left Nigeria in the first place). I can't tell you what to do here as it's personal to each person.

This is a recommended way:

=Go back to Nigeria for an extended holiday first. Say 3-6 weeks (employer/business permitting)
=Sort out the first few pointers i mentioned.
=Do your feasibility studies on where you'd like to live and things you'd like to do.
=Come back to the U.K. and restrategise.
=Try not to be guided by emotion
=Then start relocating in phases 2-3 Months blocks then return(it,ll be an essential learning curve)
=Be clear about what you want and why you're doing it
For the some people in the UK the reasons are (tired of the bad weather,no social life,no meaningful relationships, missing friends and family, becoming disillusioned with life as a coloured minority and 2nd class citizen, high taxes, racism, reaslising your potential can never be achieved here, knowing retirment age poverty is a near certainty, knowing getting on the property ladder is nigh impossible, knowing that even if you get on the property ladder its a scam due to high initial deposit requirements, knowing that even if you got on the property ladder you may be paying for it till your 70s or dead, wanting a change of environment, hatred of local goverment policy, hatred of central government policy, relationship failure, spouse taking your children, spouses taking your house, rubbish food the list goes on and on.

On your penultimate question of how much is needed. This is impossible to honestly answer. It's like asking how much do i need to live throughout life. You need to make a list of things you need to spend money on. Then another list of the things you need first and those you can get later. That list will guide you on required funds. Then add 10-30% on top for contingencies and unplanned expenses as they also follow like night follows day.

I wish you good luck but know that youre not alone. There's a long line of us Nigerian/Brits marching to the exit door.
This is a very detailed response. Well done! 👍

12inchess:
Thanks for all the advises so far. First let me clear some assumptions. I got married before I moved to the U.S and my wife came to join me a year after. Secondly, I didnt cut off all my friends in Nigeria. Most of us simply drifted apart. Many have also relocated to different countries abroad. Thirdly my major problem is just a feeling of emptiness and sadness which leads to depression. Fourthly I'm doing a fairly decent job in the U.S and likewise my wife. I'm not doing a low income job so my finances are okay. We have some investment here although not much I believe it's okay for our level. I

I don't know where I got it wrong. Everyday I now wake up from bed to go to work is a struggle. I never was a person with a whole lot of friends. My friends were typically guys on my street that I worked up to. The tailor that sews for me etc. But since I came here everyone simply minds their own business. My problem is that I long for the simpler days which I believe are long gone now. I think I need some growing up to do but it's just so hard for me given my loneliness and depression. I really need a way out before things even get worse. I can conveninetly survive unpaid at my job for a few months but since I just started less than a year ago I think they will take me as unserious if I suggest leaving the job for a break. The process of getting my Greencard also took quite a while and I feel I should make the best use of it by making as much money as I can since I now have it but I also don't want to harm myself mentally in the course of doing that.

I go to a Nigerian church before but it was all about pay tithe donate money this and that so I lost interest. I'm really at my wits end so please keep the advises coming and reading everyone of them and will make a decision based on what I receive here.

Thanks!
I don't really have advice to give but I just want you to know I understand exactly how you feel. I wish you the best in whatever decision you make.

The order is:
White kids—White Women—-White Men—Black Kids (because of the general feeling for children)—-dogs and cats—-Black women (because of the general bias for women)—-then trees/property and every other living and none living things they care about——then Black Men (Unfortunately).
That’s the order of priority, from the highest to the least.
This is very funny cheesy

Just a lucky person? You aren't going to acknowledge her hard work?

Gerrylyndon:
Someone gave a gift to Bishop, with his own money, and some people are angry, spewing trash.

Vent that frustration on the government you voted for and leave Bishop and his church pls.

So a pastor should not have anything good because he is a pastor abi.

Hypocrites.
But doesn't the said pastor already have 'many things good?' We are not talking about a pastor who has nothing and this was his first car gift. We are talking about someone who owns private jet and I am sure cars as well. Is adding more not amounting to excesses? It will be understandable if he accepts such gift and then convert it for charity cause.

You can have too many cars but you cannot do too many charity works because the poor and needy always abound.

And what do you say about a banker who has worked over 20 years and still doesn't have his own house? Impossible, you will say. But it is true. And not that he is wasteful or anything.
The write-up says bank manager not just a banker.

I want to believe a bank manager of 20 years should be able to afford a home if he is not wasteful as you assert.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: How Chinese Vendors Scammed Me Of 1m Naira [photos] by djoe21(m): 8:28am On Aug 28, 2024
Supreme145:
I've been struggling to make ends meet since I graduated over 3 years ago, it's been from one poor paying job to the other. Early this year I managed to convince my father to sell his land and give me a million naira from the money. He wanted me to travel out but I had to inform him that travelling even to an African country is now very expensive which 1 or even 2 million won't be able to process.

I decided to invest the money into mini importation from a Chinese site 1688 which I learnt here on Nairaland. I tasted the waters by importing cheap necklaces but they weren't of good quality so I decided to try again. I imported wigs and they were better because I was able to realize at least 6k profit on each of them but then sales was a bit slow since I didn't really have the customer base for wigs.

After the wigs I imported boyfriend jeans since I was already into jeans business before and it is a trendy stuff that I won't have much problem selling. Before I ordered I checked reviews, longevity of the seller on the site and other checks. After due diligence I ordered 200 pairs of jeans from 3 different vendors. An agent that I met on Nairaland helped me to make payments while I took care of the shipping myself.

I waited apprehensively for about two months for the goods to arrive because unlike the first two orders which I used air freight I used sea cargo due to the weight of the shipment. During the wait I reached out to prospective buyers with the samples and videos that I got from the vendors. The goods finally arrived Nigeria early this month and spent over a week under customs clearance. Within this period my parents had been checking in occasionally to know the progress of the business.

The goods arrived the shipping company's warehouse on Friday and I had plead with my dad to borrow me a refundable 235,0000 to clear the goods which will be paid immediately I start making sales. I sent my brother who's a dispatcher in Lagos to help me pick up the stuff. He called me on video call when he got home and what I saw shattered my heart into a thousand pieces. My phone fell off my hand while I gasped for breath with my heart racing.

The 3 vendors sent identical goods which were as good as rags, in fact it was below okirika 3rd grade standard. Even skirts, bum shorts and plain trousers were found among the rubbish they sent, some were torn. Without mincing words, they sent damaged, old and worn out goods to me. They weren't even packaged in nylons. It was as if there was a conspiracy between the vendors.

I just watched the great hope and expectations that I had fizzle out, I wished I was dreaming but it was reality. I broke the news to my dad who was beyond disappointed in me, he regretted giving me the money and wished he had invested the money in his building project like my mom advised him when he wanted to give me the money.

On my part I'm just downcast, confused and depressed with no idea on what to do with my life. At 32 I thought I was finally up to something that will lift me out of poverty but just like several times that I've tried, I come crashing down to the ground. I feel like I'm cursed to die in suffering but anyhow it is giving up is not an option. I will still stand up and continue the struggle till I make it legitimately one way or the other.

I had to put this up here so that others can learn from my mistakes and bear in mind that those Chinese are dubious and should tread carefully when dealing with them.
Sorry about this, you will bounce back better and stronger.

BadMaster:
I hope you know the difference between downlink and download, Mbps and MBps?

Regarding speed, as long as there are no obstructions in the view of the dishy and installed, preferably, at the highest point in your location, there's really nothing much you can do to improve speed.

Make sure to split the 2.4/5.0Ghz frequencies. For devices close to the router, use the 5Ghz frequency, it's faster.
Do you mean to create a separate 2.4ghz network on the Starlink app?

This is a good news.
All those lazy youth that are hell bent on destroying our economy by trading and speculating the exchange rate on P2P platforms are in deep shit already.
Instead of investing in physical asset they prefer to get rich quicker by trading USDT in the comfort of their bedroom at the detriment of our economy.
I keep telling people the rate we see online is not the true exchange rate.
I'm sure they will switch to Telegram but don't be surprised in 2 weeks time the CBN will equally ban Telegram.
Lazy youth? Someone would think with your write-up there are millions of jobs available to the youth and they are refusing to work.

Youth look to crypto as alternative because our government have failed on its part to provide good jobs. Have you seen unemployment rate? Trust me if there are available jobs, most people in the crypto space would not be there. You think it is easy to invest in crypto?
