Celebrities / Facebook's New Snooze Button Can Mute Annoying Friend For 30 Days by Djpaparazy(m): 6:37pm On Dec 15, 2017
@IBOMREPORTS

Facebook is now rolling out its Snooze feature to all users after a period of testing in September.
The tool lets you mute a friend, page, or group for 30 days so you can temporarily purge their updates from your News Feed.
The controls are similar to the current Unfollow / Hide tool that lets you permanently remove a user or page’s updates from your timeline entirely without unfriending them.

Instead of Unfollow or Hide, you’ll now see the option to snooze the account for about a month. Personally, I think this is particularly helpful now that people on my timeline are starting to answer those personality questions Facebook introduced a week ago, and their answers are completely flooding my News Feed, since each answer is its own status update card. But again, Snooze really just delays the inevitable annoyance from a page, so if you are finding yourself snoozing something often on Facebook, just bite the bullet and unfriend them (or better yet, stop using Facebook).

Celebrities / Burnaboy’s Manager, Unilag Students Hired To Rob Mr 2kay Paraded (photo) by Djpaparazy(m): 9:21am On Dec 10, 2017
The police yesterday declared popular musician Damini Ogiulu, alias Burna Boy, wanted for his alleged involvement in the attack on his colleague, David Abiye, alias 2Kay.

Acting Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal yesterday said investigations conducted and confessions from some of the suspects arrested showed that Burna Boy contracted them to teach 2Kay a lesson. Abiye was attacked by four armed men inside his room 847, at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island on October 22.

The singer, who was beaten and tied up by the armed men, allegedly lost his Audemais Piquet (AP), automatic gold wristwatch worth $25,000, gold jewellery valued at N1.5million, mobile phones, a pair of Adidas shoes, cash and perfumes to the thieves who posed as hotel workers.

The suspects are Balogun Ademola, 23, Obinna Igwe, 20 and Omotore Tunmise, 27. Ademola and Igwe are said to be students of the University of Lagos. Tunmise is an artisan. “The gang confessed that Burna Boy, through his road manager, Joel Kantiock, paid them to rob Abiye, according to them, to teach the victim a lesson. Kantiock confessed that his boss Ogiulu instructed him to look for armed men that can rob Abiye to teach him a lesson. He mobilised the gang with an initial cash sum of N50,000 and a subsequent N50,000 when the job was completed.” Kantiock however, denied knowing any of the suspects.

How long will it last..
Sports / Champions League - Why Chelsea Lost Cheaply To Roma - Antonio Conte by Djpaparazy(m): 8:06am On Nov 01, 2017
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has given reasons his team suffered their first Champions League defeat this season.
Chelsea were handed a shocking 3-0 defeat in a Group C encounter against Roma on Tuesday night in Rome.
Conte lamented lack of the will to fight back by his players.

Addressing reporters after the game, Conte lamented lack of the will to fight back by his players.
He said, “It was a really bad performance. Roma showed more will to fight and more desire to win the game. I’m very disappointed with our second half. For this performance, we all have to take responsibility.
“When you concede three goals, you must be worried. It means something doesn’t work. It’s very difficult now, but we have to analyse the game. We need to work on the tactical aspect. We are working less on this aspect this season. We have to look at ourselves.
“Tonight was a bad night for us. I only want one night like this and we must work together this week.
“What I’m most disappointed about was the performance in the second half.
“Roma had more hunger, more desire, more fight to beat us and clearly deserved this win.
“We have to try to find the strength to understand and to use this loss in the right way. In this season we have to dig very deep, very deep, if we want to be competitive and to fight for something important. If we are not ready to dig deep, we can have this type of game.
“We have to know this. Because, I repeat, this season will be very difficult if we don’t understand quickly the right way that we have to go.

“My task is to try to find the best solution. To try to avoid this type of game. But, for sure, we have to work together.
“We need to have the will — I repeat — to dig deep. If we think that only because our name is Chelsea, and the opponent have fear of the name Chelsea, this is not the right way.
“We have to find the hunger we showed all last season and, this season, only sometimes. But this season has been up and down. If you are a great team you must have stability. You must have consistency. At this moment we are struggling a lot to find this type of balance.
“Last season we showed great hunger, great will to do something important. We won the league and did a miracle. But if we want to be competitive this season we have to avoid these ups and downs. A great team must have stability and great desire to be protagonists in every game.”

Phones / How To Cancel Already Sent Messages On Whatsapp - See How. by Djpaparazy(m): 6:03pm On Oct 28, 2017
How many times have you fired off a WhatsApp message only to be hit by that sudden, terrifying thought – ‘I really shouldn’t have sent that’. Well at last there’s a solution.

After months of development WhatsApp have started rolling out the Delete for Everyone feature, which allows you to recall messages after you’ve sent them. This applies to text messages, gifs, video, pictures… pretty much anything you can send on WhatsApp, however it must be done within seven minutes of sending the message.

How to recall messages on WhatsApp The much anticipated feature is easy to use. Simply highlight the message you wish you didn’t send, select Delete from the menu and then hit Delete for Eveyone. It’s only available to certain users at the moment and only on the latest version of WhatsApp, so head over to the App Store and download all those updates you’ve been continually putting off.

WhatsApp say the feature will be useful if your message ‘contains a mistake’, but we all know the new feature will really have three functions:

1. Damage control when you accidentally post a message to the group chat slagging someone off.
2. Letting you backtrack from a risky message to someone you’re flirting with.
3. The last line of defence when you accidentally send a message about last weekend’s illicit behaviour to your mother.

However, the people you are messaging can still see the message before you delete it (WhatsApp can’t delete things from people’s brains, after all), and even if you manage to recall a message before the other person returns to their phone, they will still be able to see ‘This message was deleted’.

WhatsApp will also let you know if the recall wasn’t successful, just so you know if you need to send a grovelling apology message or not.

Deila is now in charge of Valerenga in his native Norway but with the team lingering just above the relegation zone, they faced a vital showdown with rivals Brann last month.
So Deila - who famously celebrated avoiding relegation with former side Stromsgodset by leaping about in just his pants - decided the best way to relax his men ahead of the clash was to bare all in a team meeting.

And it worked a treat, as the Oslo club grabbed a much-needed 2-1 win.
'A lot of people have probably seen me nude already,' Deila told Norwegian news website vg.no. 'We have to have fun in all the seriousness.'
Valerenga midfielder Herman Stengel admitted Deila's strip tease was just what his squad needed to lighten the mood.
'I don't know if it was pretty, but it worked well,' he said.

Politics / Buhari To Meet With Electricity Operators On Restructuring Of Equity Holdings by Djpaparazy(m): 11:58am On Oct 13, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration cannot revoke the privatisation of the power sector done by the Goodluck Jonathan administration despite its obvious shortcomings.

He stated this at the closing plenary of the Nigerian Economic Summit, NES, in Abuja.
“The privatisation is a complex investment that government cannot wake up to cancel the contract, because there are consequences.” He said.
Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said his administration’s decision to review the power sector privatisation is meant to open up the sector for investors with the financial capacity and technical expertise to inject fresh investments to turn the sector around.

Speaking further, the president noted that the owners of the privatised power companies have not been able to realize the objectives for which they acquired the assets.
“The power sector has been privatised. Investors are holding large portions of the shares. But the privatisation has not worked well, in the sense that what government sort to achieve, by way of development of the power sector, has not yet happened,” the President said.
Since November 2013 when the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN successor companies were handed over to their new owners, Nigerians expected improved stable supply of electricity, with government targeting the generation capacity of 10,000 megawatts, MW.
The President said, government has decided to meet with the operators of the sector, starting with the distribution companies, DISCOs, to restructure their equity holdings.

He said the restructuring would involve the government and other private operators ceding some of their holdings to new investors to inject fresh funds and expertise to help turn the sector around in a way that would serve Nigerians.
“The process is ongoing to negotiate with the existing owners to restructure the investment to determine the right level of holding to give up for another round of sales. The equities would be sold to investors with the resources and capacity to bring in the level of investment to turn around the sector.
He described as false the privatisation of assets, which saw the defunct PHCN broken into 11 distribution companies and nine generation companies as well as one transmission company, pointing out that false buyers of the power companies were owing more than they could pay.
The situation, the president said, has been so bad that if the banks were not strong, they could have gone under from the weight of the debt from the power sector.
At the closing media briefing, Mrs. Ahmed said government was committed to reviewing the recommendations from the Summit and urgently plan towards immediate implementation of NES 23 to fast track the realization of the objectives of the National Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
The summit, which had the theme: “Opportunities, Productivity & Employment: Actualising the Economic Recovery & Growth Plan,” focused on five areas.
These include the need to need to redress the constraints to stabilize macro-economic environment and ensure inclusive economic growth, manufacturing, food security through agricultural development, provision of infrastructure, including railway, road and power.
Mrs. Ahmed said apart from stabilizing the macroeconomic environment, government’ focus was to reduce interest rate and inflation to single digits by 2020, while ensuring that the ease of doing business initiative brought efficiencies in public service functions in its interface with the private sector.

Sports / Russia2018: 5 Top Teams That Will Miss Next Summer's World Cup by Djpaparazy(m): 9:08pm On Oct 11, 2017
Here five teams that shocked us by not qualifying.

USA team

1. The United States of America
It is such a surprise that USA failed to qualify for the 2018 games in Russia because the country has qualified for every World cup since 1930 till 2014 with their best result, third place, coming in the 1930 edition hosted by Uruguay. However, between 1954 and 1986, the country didn’t qualify.

USA’s lost to Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday means the country will not be in the finals for the first time in 32 years.

Chile team

2. Chile
The South American nation has a long and intriguing history in the FIFA World Cup games. Chile made its debut in the games in 1930. The Chilean team withdrew from two subsequent editions of the game in 1934 and 1938 only to come back in 1950. The team’s best result was in 1962 when it finished in the third place.

The team was disqualified from the 1990 edition of the game after a desperate shady move made by the team to force the disqualification of Brazil and ensure its own qualification. The team was also banned from the 1994 edition while its goalkeeper, Roberto Rojas who played a major role in the shady move was banned from football for life. He had claimed he was injured by a firecracker thrown into the Maracana football pitch by a Brazilian fan to force the game to an inconclusive end. The team has played in three out of the last five World Cup games, including the last two editions since the ban was lifted in 1998.

Holland team

3. Netherlands
The European country has had an impressive run in the World Cup since its first game in 1934. The Netherlands (call it Holland if you like) has played in 10 editions of the FIFA World Cup, finishing second in three editions and third in one. Unfortunately, they won’t be having a chance to take another shot at it in Russia.

Cameroon team

4. Cameroon
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have played seven World Cup games since their first appearance in 1982. Their best result came in 1990, during their second World Cup appearance. The African team was stopped in the quarter-final by England who only edged them out by a narrow 3-2 win.

Ghana team

5. Ghana
Since its debut appearance in Germany 2006, Ghana has qualified for two other World Cup editions that followed. The country’s best result was in the 2010 edition where the country played in the quarterfinals. Ghana was knocked out of the game by Uruguay with a 4-2 scoreline in a game that ended on penalties. The team couldn’t improve on the results four years later in Brazil. It is such a shame they would not be getting the opportunity again in Russia 2018

Romance / This Boy Has Been Branded "The Devil" By Villagers Because Of Unbelievably Large by Djpaparazy(m): 10:13pm On Oct 09, 2017
This is Tajbir Akhtar, the five-year-old boy has been cruelly branded "The Devil" by villagers after his thumb and a finger on his left hand grew to giant proportions.

According to The Sun UK, Tajbir Akhtar's left hand is bigger than his head and weighs almost a stone due to a mysterious condition

It makes simple tasks like holding a glass of water impossible, and the youngster even struggles to walk or run.

Because of his deformity, villagers have shunned Tajbir and have asked his mother, Parvin Akhtar, to keep her son out of sight.

Tajbir Akhtar

Parvin said: "People are scared of the unusual size of his hands. They say my child frightens their kids. They call him a devil.

"It is painful to see my child being bullied by people. His hand is three times the size of children his age.
"It is so heavy that he cannot hold its weight and stumbles while walking or running."

The villagers' behaviour has forced little Tajbir to live a reclusive life. He doesn't go to school and has no friends to play with.

His mum added: "His days are spent inspecting the hand. He cries all day and demands an answer.

"He is always curious to know why his hand is abnormally bigger than other kids in the neighbourhood.

"I always tell him that Allah has created him in a different way.

"I want my child to live a normal childhood but what can we do?

"We do not have the means to get him medical treatment."

Tajbir was born after desperate prayers by parents Parvin and Toufiqul Islam, a daily wage labour from Sonapara village in Bogra district of Bangladesh.

Davido and Tagbo spotted together
Celebrities / Revealed: Davido’s Friend, Tagbo Was Killed By Too Much Alcohol On His Birthday by Djpaparazy(m): 9:10pm On Oct 09, 2017
An autopsy result has revealed that alcohol was a substantial factor in the death of a 35-year-old Tagbo Umeike, the friend of Davido who died on his birthday, October 3.

The result showed that he had alcohol and drugs in his system capable of easing a person into the early stages of hypothermia and eventual death.
The toxicology tests detected alcohol (Bacardi 151, 75.5% Alcohol) and topiramate, a medication for epilepsy and/or migraines in a man’s system, in Tagbo Umeike.’
Tagbo’s blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) was at 0.112, higher than the 0.08 legal limit for normal human being state, the coroner’s office stated.
While his family claims that Tagbo “didn’t have a prescription for any type of topiramate medication”, the coroner’s office stated that the amount of drug in Tagbos’ system was in the “therapeutic range.”
A statement by the coroner’s office said:

“Alcohol and topiramate are synergistic. When combined, the effect of either or both drugs is enhanced.
“Topiramate, like alcohol, can cause dizziness, impaired memory, impaired concentration, poor coordination, confusion and impaired judgment.
“Central nervous system depression, or impairment, combined with cold exposure can hasten the onset of hypothermia and death.

A family friend by name Damilola Usman, who spoke to Saturday Beats from Tagbo’s parents’ house claimed Tagbo passed out after taking shots of tequila.

Hmmmm based on..
Health / Monkeypox: Lagosians On Heat As Monkeypox Cases Where Recorded In Lagos State by Djpaparazy(m): 8:14pm On Oct 09, 2017
Dr Idris told journalists at a news conference on Monday that it has become necessary to sensitise residents about the viral disease which has been reported in some states.
“Though no confirmed case has been recorded, there is the need to sensitize members of the public and provide adequate information on measures for prevention and control of the disease in line with the policy of the State Government,” he said.
While assuring residents of the state that measures have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus, he urged residents to be vigilant and maintain “high personal and environmental hygiene”.

“I need to state that though there is no specific vaccine for the disease, vaccination against Smallpox has been proven to be 85 percent effective in preventing Monkeypox. There is also no specific anti-viral therapy for Monkeypox, however, the disease is self-limiting and could be managed conservatively,” he said.

“The preventive measures to be taken against the spread of the disease include; avoiding close contact with infected people; avoiding consumption of bushmeat and dead animals; cooking of meat and meat product thoroughly before eating and washing hands with soap and running water frequently and thoroughly.”

Monkeypox is a rare viral zoonotic disease (from animal to man) caused by Monkeypox virus which occurs primarily in Central and West Africa close to the tropical rainforest where there is frequent contact with infected animals.
The symptoms in human are similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients although less severe.

Sports / RUSSIA2018: Tunisia, Senegal, Morocco Set For World Cup by Djpaparazy(m): 7:57pm On Oct 09, 2017
Nigeria and Egypt secured places at the weekend with home victories over Zambia and Congo Brazzaville respectively, leaving eight countries hunting the other three slots.
Tunisia or the Democratic Republic of Congo will qualify from Group A and Morocco or the Ivory Coast from Group C

All four Group D teams — Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and South Africa — can win the mini-league.
AFP sport analyses the Africa zone qualifying competition ahead of the final fixtures between November 6 and 14:

Group A
Tunisia need one point from a home fixture against north African neighbours Libya to secure a fifth World Cup appearance and first since 2006.
It is a task well withing the capabilities of the “Carthage Eagles”, who are unbeaten in five qualifiers while Libya have lost four.
Should Tunisia suffer a shock loss and DR Congo defeat Guinea at home, first place will be decided by goal difference.

Group B
When Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria and Zambia were placed together, no one could have imagined that the “group of death” would be settled before the final round.
Algeria were the most impressive African performers at the 2014 World Cup, taking eventual champions Germany to extra time, and gritty Cameroon won the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
But Nigeria made a flying start, taking six points from two matches while all their rivals stumbled, and were six points ahead of second-place Zambia when they sealed top spot.

Group C
Morocco take a one-point lead over the Ivory Coast to west Africa for a pressure-packed showdown that will determine which of the countries goes to Russia.
The pressure is on 2006/2010/2014 qualifiers Ivory Coast as they must win having been held 0-0 in Mali at the weekend and overtaken when Morocco thumped Gabon 3-0 in Casablanca.
Morocco last competed at a World Cup in 1998 and are banking on France-born former Ivory Coast coach Herve Renard to end a run of four failed qualifying campaigns.

Group D
Although all four teams can come first, 2002 World Cup quarter-finalists Senegal are sitting pretty with a two-point lead and a game in hand over two challengers.
The Senegalese need two points from away and home fixtures against bottom side South Africa to secure a second appearance at the global football showpiece.
South Africa beat Senegal 2-1 last November only for the result to be annulled and a replay ordered when FIFA found Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey guilty of match manipulation.

Group E
Egypt snatched a dramatic 2-1 home win over Congo Brazzaville at the weekend to book a World Cup place 27 years after last featuring in the competition.
Following many heart-breaking qualifying failures, the north Africans must have feared the worst when Congo levelled with two minutes of regular time left in Alexandria.
But Liverpool star Mohamed Salah calmly converted a penalty five minutes into stoppage time to win the game and give Egypt an unassailable four-point advantage over Uganda.

Sports / PSG Striker Sentenced To One Year In Prison by Djpaparazy(m): 5:51pm On Oct 01, 2017
Paris Saint-Germain forward Angel Di Maria has been sentenced to one year in prison and will pay a £1.76million fine after admitting to tax fraud in Spain.

The Argentine winger defrauded the Spanish government a sum of £1.14million during his four-year spell with Real Madrid between 2010 and 2014.

Di Maria according to SunSports made a deal with authorities to avoid a trial at the Spanish Supreme Court – which found Lionel Messi guilty of similar crimes last year.

He admitted to two separate counts of fraud – each of which will carry a six-month sentence – and will pay 60 per cent fine on top of his arrears, coming to £1.76m.

The Argentinian is unlikely to spend any time behind bars as sentences of under two-years are usually suspended, providing the convicted has no criminal record. Di Maria’s charges relate to the player’s image rights with Los Blancos in 2012 and 2013.

According to Madrid prosecutors, the former Manchester United star transferred his rights to an Irish company owned by super-agent Jorge Mendes, via another holding in Panama.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho, Radamel Falcao, Ricardo Carvalho and Fabio Coentrao have all been investigated for related offences.
Barcelona ace Javier Mascherano also struck a similar deal do Di Maria’s earlier this year. Di Maria’s admission means he now avoids a high-profile court date.

Messi, also 29, and his father Jorge were each sentenced to 21 months in prison after being found guilty of owing £3.4m in tax payments in July last year. Ronaldo, 32, is due to appear in court on July 31 to face allegations he owes the Spanish tax man £13m.

The Real Madrid star faces no formal charge at this stage and is appearing in court as an ‘investigated person’ and could be fined as much as £37m if he is found guilty.

Sports / Conte Speaks On Morata's Injury As He Shared Tears by Djpaparazy(m): 6:12am On Oct 01, 2017
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has said that he does not expect Alvaro Morata to be out for too long.

Morata was forced off during the first half of their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, holding his left hamstring.

“It’s a muscular problem,” Conte told reporters afterwards.

“I don’t think it’s a serious problem because he stopped before it will become a serious injury.

“He said to me, ‘Coach, I prefer to stop myself otherwise I risk a bad injury’. I don’t know.

“The doctor now in the next days has to check the situation, but I don’t think he’s available for the national team.

“It’s normal when you play three massive games in only seven days, you must consider this aspect [fatigue].

“We needed to take this risk because Morata for us is an important player.”

Sports / Chelsea Vs Manchester City: Team News, Suspensions, Injury Worries And More by Djpaparazy(m): 5:30am On Sep 29, 2017
Premier League giants, Chelsea and Manchester City will lock horns at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash.

The two clubs will go into the game on the back of Champions League victories at the mid week.

Antonio Conte’s men can move level with Pep Guardiola’s team with a win, which could be City’s first loss of the season.

Chelsea are currently third in the division with 13 points from their first six games with City and Manchester United leading the way.

Blues central defender, David Luiz will miss the game due to suspension following his red card against Arsenal, while former Leicester midfielder, Danny Drinkwater remains out with an injury.

Also Pedro may not be available as he nurses a minor injury, depending on doctor’s recommendation.

For Manchester City, right wing-back, Benjamin Mendy will play no part in the game after sustaining a knee injury and is expected to miss for a lengthy period.

Captain Vincent Kompany is on his way to full recovery from an injury to his calf and is unlikely to feature for City again until after the October international break.

The Saturday’s match between Chelsea and Manchester City is an encounter between two of England’s most in-form teams.
