A ghastly car accident was caused by rampaging camels yesterday in Jigawa State.

According to reports, the incident happened in Dutse, capital of Jigawa State after the camels ran into a moving car. Some of the camels died in the accident as the condition of the car occupants are yet to be ascertained

Nigeria’s Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, says that Federal Government has made provision of N1 billion in the 2017 budget for the development of Ibaka deep seaport in Akwa Ibom.

Mr. Osinbajo said this in Uyo on Thursday while addressing a Townhall meeting of the government and people of the state.

The acting president’s visit was part of his consultation with people in the Niger Delta on how to maximise the gains of oil resources in the region.





The acting president, who was responding to myriads of complaints and requests by the people, said that budgetary provisions had also been made for the Itu – Calabar federal highway in 2016.

Mr. Osinbajo said the Ministry of Petroleum Resources was working with Amnesty Office to accommodate more youth from Akwa Ibom into the Amnesty Programme.

“I have heard all the requests. We must trust and give this government the patience that is required to put things right.

“We are working on modular refineries. Power stations must be established here. We must make our oil producing communities hub of petrochemical and gas industries.

“We must attract private investments. The biggest benefit is to attract more private investments to the state,” Mr. Osinbajo advised.

The acting president regretted that the blessings of oil wealth had not touched the majority of the people in the oil bearing communities.

He said the Ministry of Petroleum Resources was working on several incentives for the oil producing communities.

Mr. Osinbajo also directed the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to liaise with the oil multinationals operating in the state on the modalities to relocate their headquarters following repeated requests.

The acting president promised to partner with the state government to establish technology hub in the state while advising the people to be resourceful and innovative.

He noted that the future depended on innovation and the ability to harness what we have for development.

In his presentation earlier, the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, appealed to the Federal Government to support the Ibaka deep seaport.

The governor also requested the Federal Government to partner with the state to establish a logistics centre for oil and gas operations.

Mr. Emmanuel appealed to the Federal Government to resolve the ownership problem in the Aluminum Smelting Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) to enable the state benefit from it.

The governor, who described the acting president as a development partner and leader, appealed to the Federal Government to allocate oil and gas block to indigenes of the state.

Speaking on behalf of oil producing communities, a former Minister of Lands and Housing, Nduese Essien, lamented that the state had nothing to show for being the highest oil producer.

Mr. Essien suggested that the coastal railway project of the Federal Government should pass through Oron- Eket- Ikot Abasi routes.

He called on the Federal Government to correct the anomaly in the section four of the East-West spanning Onna and Eket in Akwa Ibom.

In his presentation, the state leader, Pan Niger Delta Forum, Idongesit Nkanga, urged the federal government to partner with the state government to complete the hangar at the Akwa Ibom Airport.

Mr. Nkanga called for the speedy completion of the East-West road cutting across the state and also expedite the transformation of Maritime Academy into a university.In his speech, the Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, commended the federal government for appointing indigenes of the state into key government positions.

Mr. Akpabio, who spoke on behalf of the state’s elders council, asked for fairness and equity considering the allocation of projects in the Niger Delta region.

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in his presentation made case for the payment of take off grant for the University of Uyo since its establishment, he also called on the Federal Government support start ups by youths in the state in this era of digital economy.

As a way of reducing items that slow down its baggage handling system, the authorities of Dubai Airport, has announced that passengers who check in baggage that are round or bound together would be rejected as of March 8.

According to Ali Angizeh, vice president of terminal operations at Dubai International, baggage
that are round or bound, cause a lot of baggage jam as it does not lie flat.

“Bags that are round or do not have a flat surface of any kind are by far the largest cause of baggage jams.


“These jams can shut down sections of our system, delay the delivery of baggage to the aircraft and inconvenience customers. Passengers who show up at the airport with non-compliant baggage, will be given the option to have it repacked in boxes, for a fee" he said on pictures of the items in bubble wrap.

Eliud Njoroge, a man residing in Kangemi, Kenya, has narrated how two female spirits visit him at night to forcefully UnCloth him and sucked his pen*s.

A 48-year-old man was stoned to death by his family members after he was found defiling the body of his daughter at his home in Kuresoi North, Kenya.


According to Nairobi News, prior to the incident the man and his family members were making burial arrangements of the 11-year-old girl, who died of a heart condition.

Confirming the incident, the area chief, Kuria Mburu said;


“His wife said she got suspicious when her husband kept sneaking into the room where his daughter’s body laid. She decided to follow him and found him in the act. She raised an alarm, alerting his five daughters and other relatives who beat him to death."


One of the neighbours said she heard screams while working in her shamba about 500 metres away, but upon reaching the compound, the man’s lifeless body lay outside his house surrounded by the family. His body was later taken to a mortuary.



The police also confirmed the incident and have started investigations.

A source in the family who sought anonymity, revealed that the two would be buried on the same day but no burial ceremony will be done for the man.

A Car Battery thieve was caught and burnt to ashes this morning at Yellow Duke. A resident who reported the incident this morning said that the young man has gone out to steal batteries from parked cars.

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has said that it will be “a joke”, if they are slammed with points deduction.

The Premier League leaders may be hit with a points deduction after being charged over player behaviour for the fifth time in 19 months.

The Blues and Manchester City have already been charged by the Football Association, for failing to control their players over the mass brawl that ensued at the Etihad last weekend.

No Chelsea player was dismissed, but the Stamford Bridge side are in danger of becoming the first top-flight team since 1990, to suffer the grave consequences.

Manchester United and Arsenal were punished for brawling in 1990 with points deduction and the FA has already warned Chelsea, after they appealed over the ugly scenes in the London Derby against Tottenham in May this year.

The conclusion of that panel was that Chelsea could be be docked points if their players continued to misbehave.

“For me, if you are involved in a situation where you are not at fault, why must you pay?” the Italian said. “Why? I don’t understand this. At the end of the Manchester City game, my players tried to keep their calm. It would be a joke [if the FA imposed such a punishment on his club]. You must be honest and understand which team is at fault,” Conte said on Sunday, after their 1-0 win over West Brom at home.

“We are trying to improve all aspects, and also this. We had a bad record in the past, but now we are different. I don’t know what happened in the past. I know what is happening in the present, and that is why I ask if this is a joke or not. After the game between City and Chelsea, you could see very clearly that my players tried to keep their calm.”

JAMB meets CBT centre owners over 2017 exams

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says arrangements have been concluded to have an interaction with owners of Computer Based Test centres in the country ahead of the 2017 UTME.

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the meeting which comes up on Tuesday at the University of Lagos is to fine tune all areas of challenges geared towards conducting a hitch-free examination in 2017.

It said that the meeting would determine the number of centres to be used for the 2017 all CBT Unified Tertiary Matriculation Board exercise.

“These are centres that must have a minimum of 250 and above terminals (computers).

“We will not hesitate to disqualify any centre that falls short of the requirements,’’ the statement said.

So yeah, you're right to worry about them. Still, there are other common killers on the CDC's list that claim hundreds of thousands of lives each year, but they may not be on your radar.

Here they are, plus their risk factors and what you can do to protect yourself.

1. Chronic Liver Disease

Your liver is responsible for a handful of vital biological functions, from flushing your system of waste and toxins to helping your body absorb vitamins, nutrients, and energy from the foods you eat, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Chronic liver disease—also known as cirrhosis—is the gradual breakdown of your liver function. Symptoms include feeling weak or tired, a loss of appetite, nausea, and bloating, says the NIH.

Viruses like hepatitis, a heavy drinking habit, and some other disorders or infections can all lead to chronic liver disease, according to resources from Johns Hopkins Medicine. So can obesity and some blood diseases, says Sharonne Hayes, M.D., a professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic.

While you can't do much to protect yourself from some of those risk factors, Hayes says watching your weight, eating right, exercising, and keeping your alcohol intake to one drink per day are all proven ways to protect your liver from disease.

2. Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease

Chronic lower respiratory disease often goes by another name you've probably heard before: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

COPD is an umbrella term for a handful of lung-related health issues, including emphysema and bronchitis. Roughly 5 percent of all American adults have been diagnosed with one of those two lung conditions, show CDC stats.

Since your lungs are the organs in the crosshairs, you can probably guess the biggest risk factor for COPD: smoking. "Smoking could cause or worsen all of these COPD conditions,"says Hayes. Working in construction, demolition, and some other building trades are also major risk factors for COPD, suggests research in BMJ.

The most common symptom is a shortness of breath. But because the disease progresses slowly, you may not notice any sudden changes in your breathing, says Hayes. That may be why the disease often goes undiagnosed until its late stages.

If you feel like you're struggling to breathe at times—and especially if those struggles seem new—ask your doctor to screen you for COPD. It's a simple test that involves breathing into a device for a few seconds, says Hayes.

3. Diabetes

Diabetes refers to the breakdown of your body's ability to manage its bloodsugar levels. Over time, that breakdown could lead to heart disease, nerve damage, kidney disease, or other lethal health issues, according to the NIH.

Diabetes comes in two forms: Type 1 and Type 2. Only 5 percent of sufferers have Type 1 diabetes, which is an autoimmune disease that destroys your body's ability to make insulin. Type 2 diabetes—the king 95 percent of diabetes sufferers have—means your body is no longer able to use the insulin your pancreas produces. Nearly 10 percent of Americans have one form of diabetes or the other. Even scarier: Roughly one in four people have the disease but don't know it, says the NIH.

The American Diabetes Association says early symptoms of diabetes include urinating all the time, feeling thirsty, extreme fatigue, vision problems, and feeling hungry even when you're eating.

While experts say Type 1 diabetes is likely caused by a combination of your genes and some early-life triggers, Type 2 diabetes is something you can prevent or head off by changing your lifestyle, says Hayes. "Eating a prudent diet and maintaining a healthy weight can lower your risk," she says.

Even if you're on the verge of a diabetes diagnoses—a condition known as "prediabetes" rel="noFollow"—there are steps you can take to dodge the disease.

4. Influenza and Pneumonia

Influenza—a.k.a., the flu—refers to a group of viruses that cause various respiratory illnesses, says the CDC.

For most healthy adults, catching the flu will land you in bed for a few days with a fever and chills. But for anyone with an underlying health condition—from kidney or blood disorders to heart disease—the flu can cause complications that quickly turn deadly, warns the CDC.

The flu can also lead to a lung infection called pneumonia, which can be lethal if you have a weakened immune system or any ongoing health issue, according to the American Lung Association.

"The best way to prevent all this is to get an annual flu shot," says Hayes. People at high-risk for pneumonia—the sick and elderly—should also talk to their doctors about getting a one-time vaccination against the infection, she says.

5. Septicemia (Sepsis)

This is a form of blood infection, and it tends only to affect people who are already sick, says Hayes.

According to the NIH, septicemia usually starts as an infection in some other part of your body—like your lungs, urinary tract, skin, or kidneys. That infection eventually spreads to your bloodstream, where it triggers an "overwhelming" immune response that leads to blood clots and, potentially, organ failure, says the NIH.

People who have weakened immune systems or existing health issues are most at risk, explains Hayes. But septicemia can affect anyone if infections are left untreated.

"You can't do much to prevent it," says Hayes. But you CAN take certain symptoms seriously. A sudden fever, chills, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate are all early signs of septicemia. Or course, those symptoms are also associated with run-of-the-mill colds or flus—making it hard to spot septicemia early on.

Hayes says seniors or people with preexisting health issues can't afford to ignore these symptoms. "You can get very sick very quickly, and hours count when it comes to treating this," she says. If you know your immune system is week or compromised, head to your doctor's office or a hospital to be on the safe side.

I knew the story was not true cos at first they said the governor has not arrived when the incident happened, then I saw the pix of the said aide on a thread where they said he's an usher in the church only for him to become the governor's aide

The special assistant to the state governor on media has come out on Sunday 11th December to explain exactly how the governor escaped death on Saturday at Reigners Bible church Inc.

According to him on his Facebook timeline "I have come across series of news reports and speculations on some media platforms concerning the accident at the Reigners Church Building along Uyo Village road".

The reports which are clearly very misleading, allege that an aide of His Excellency the Governor lost his life while attempting to rescue the Governor from the rubbles of the collapsing Church building.

Let it be known that I am still in shock on the unfortunate disaster that rocked our dear state and I grief for the loss of our beloved people, but at no time did anyone die while trying to rescue His Excellency the Governor.

As the Governor himself has also explained, as soon as he left his seat in the church, one of the falling roofs shattered the chair, while he hurriedly left the building unscathed. At no time did anyone close to him push or rescue him, let alone die in the process. Rather it was the governor who rushed out to get rescue equipment and he supervised the rescue operations.

By protocol arrangement, no aide seats behind the governor in official functions except his Personal Assistant on General Duties and security details. And they are all in good conditions. People should discountenance that false story in all ramification.

I advise my colleagues in the pen profession and bloggers against be carried away by the seeming flourishing qualities of sensationalism, and rather endeavour to crosscheck their facts before going to the press.
Those who are excited about rushing to generate imaginary stories about the dead should also consider the effect of such false reportage on other members of the society.
