The only people that should ever enjoy any subsidy in Nigeria are people from the oil producing states, shikena! That is what we are going to campaign from now on! NCNC! No Contribution, No Chop! Everyone should answer his father's name! |

oyb: Ode square like you! Are your uncles and village chiefs/idi.o.ts not part of the 70% recurrent expenditure. Tell your uncles to sit back in the village and farm instead of going to abuja to demand for national cake they contribute nothing to. How much does your state contribute to naija? Ole |

These are the decisions governments should have taken a long time ago but they choose the easy routes. It has to be done and a strong man has done it. You said he was weak and lame. Bliss4Lyfe: God will bless you my bro. There are 2 sets of people commenting here. One set are illiterates who cant read or dont understand the report. The other group can read and understand the report but are bigots looking for every opportunity to vent their anger because they lost the last election. I ddnt see them insulting Fashola when he put a toll gate in a residential area and when he asked LASU students to pay 300, 000 school fees. |
Politics / Re: I’m Slow To Avoid Mistakes - Gej by dmainboss: 11:39am On Jan 02, 2012 |
sebastinta: If you are literate, you will knwo that removing fuel subsidy is a solution not a cause of the problem. Nigeria is spending more than it earns. The proper business decision is to curb that. Off course you wont know that because you dont and cant run a business. You depend on government handouts |
Politics / Re: I’m Slow To Avoid Mistakes - Gej by dmainboss: 11:35am On Jan 02, 2012 |
Its a pity that NL is filled with Yoruba folks who just think they own the country. we should split and go our separate ways. We dont need you parasites who produce nothing drawing us back. We will be far better off without you lot. Imagine a man who comes from a state and LGA that contribute nothing to the country demanding for his fuel consumption to be subsidized. Ole You are insulting the hand that feeds you. Ode |

oyb: You still dont get. Is your IQ that low? You are the problem. Your region is the problem. Your unproductive states and LGA that add nothing to the national purse are the problem. Without you, we'll be fine and drinking cocktail somewhere. What do you or your state contribute to the nation that you think you deserve your fuel subsidized? You and your handout seeking lot. You are the parasite. lol |

oyb: Hmmm. An ostrich trying to bury his head in the sand. So PDP has been ruling Nigeria since 1960 abi? Or before 1999 everything was fine in Nigeria abi? I gave you a little bait and you exposed yourself. An ACN bigot. My biggest wish is that the country disintegrates. Then I will see how your gbegiri will sustain you. A country where 6 states are feeding 36 states and you think everything will be fine. You are a dreamer. Kano has 40 LGA and all of them are funded by money from the same six states and they even want their fuel subsidized. nonsense |

^^^There is no place in the world with a perfect economy. There is no place where people dont complain. I have friends in the Netherlands and Canada and they still complain. The point is,, most people living abroad dont ever understand issues on the ground. You cannot for example really isolate economic issues from cultural and political issues. So if you sit in the UK and try to discuss Nigerian economy, you will never be able to have a balance. |

cap28: Some of you always quote things with no understanding of issues. I mean no disrespect guy. Nigerians do not queue up in embassies because they have nothing to eat. Anybody who queues up in a foreign embassy should have at least 500 thousand Naira somewhere. Those who go to the US and china, normally have much more. Do those look like people that cannot feed? Nigerians are constantly under pressure because of our family systems that put a lot of pressure on us to deliver back home. That is a whole different discussion for another day. The people we call masses cannot raise the money to travel abroad. Except those taken there as slave workers. If I have 500 thousand Naira, there are a lot of businesses I can do and i will be comfortable. But the pressure to succeed and "hammer" in Nigeria is something else. I grew up in places like Benin and PH. In Benin, around 70 to 80 % of families have someone abroad. Sometimes, they sell their houses to send them there. They are not sent because the families cant feed. they are sent because someone needs to hammer from that family. You must understand the effects of socio/cultural influences in these matters. The mass movement abroad started around 1989/1990 when IBB started his funny policies. A lot of people from Benin flooded Europe, especially Italy, Belgium and Spain. And that was when things were not even this difficult. |

Omo_Tier1: Again, you completely missed the point and kept repeating things I said. First, the government is paying with loans, fact. Secondly, the government will still borrow from time to time, but we should never borrow to spend on consumption. we shoudl only borrow for production. We should only borrow for investment. Infrastruture is investment. Power, Roads are investment. They will produce wealth. When you borrow for consumption, you are being stu.pid. The bolded is simply repeating what I said. They budgeted 390bn but spent 1.3tr. So they didnt provide 1.3 tr in the budget at the beginning of the year. That is not rocket science my friend. |

cap28: First, you do have a right to post. I was only referring to the content of your post. Having said that, you are going round in circles. I have already stated that what we lack in Nigeria is infrastructure, so we completely agree on that. But your previous post postulated that there is high cost of living in Nigeria. Very untrue. Please stop quoting the cliche Nigerian NGO's quote when they want to collect funds from International organisations. 70% percent of Nigerians do not, i repeat, do not live on $1 dollar a day. I have traveled several states during this holiday period and I don't know where you lot get those cliches from. They are completely false. $1 is the cost of 2 bottles of soft drinks. Most Nigerians will afford that daily without stress. $1 is the profit you make from selling 3 bags of pure water. An average pure water seller can sell over 15 to 20 bags in a day in urban centers and around 10bags a day minimum in rural centers. And that is not normally the only thing they sell. Please stop peddling those false figures. All the artisans I know around me constantly drink at least 2 bottles to 4 bottles of star daily. except those that don't drink. Please stop. It is only almajiris, that will apply to and they are not 70 million. Food prices are not so high in comparison to other countries. We say that they are so high because we are humans and have many needs we need to meet, but in reference to your post, they are not so high. In Lagos where you have one of the highest cost of living, I can eat comfortably with N100. With N150, I can eat with a decent piece of meat. Not saying that is the best we should have, but am only speaking in relation to your post. In other states, it could be less. If you want to eat in Tantalizer and Mr Biggs, then you will have to pay big bucks. But that is not the norm. My point is simple. What we really suffer is infrastructural development. |
Politics / Re: Breaking News: Fuel Subsidy Removed by dmainboss: 12:06am On Jan 02, 2012 |
Omo_Tier1: After so many debates, some of you still don't get it. It is not just about savings. Nigeria has been paying for subsidy with loans except in a few cases where oil windfalls has assisted. The 1.3 trillion was not also provided for in last year budget. Simply put, we are living above our means as a country and eating the future today. The amount that was provided for in the last year budget was way below the 1.3 tr. |

Politics / Re: Breaking News: Fuel Subsidy Removed by dmainboss: 11:42pm On Jan 01, 2012 |
honestly, if i were GEJ, I would just look for a way to disintegrate Nigeria. All of you ranting here come from states that contribute nada to the rest of us. pathetic. and you want to enjoy subsidy. sad. And your states have the largest number of local governments and overheads. |

@Akinzo, you are a funny chap. So of the 160 million Nigerians including labor, you are the only one that saw that "revelation " eh? Funny chap. So if it is that simple, why didn't labor see it like you just did and stand by that? Even labor and all the opposition governors didn't disagree that there is subsidy. They are only making arguments in the areas of corruption and assurances for cushioning the effects of subsidy removal. Nigerians self and their self deceit and i too know attitude! |

babestella: Corruption is not the problem of Nigeria. Our almost irreparable ethno/cultural differences is the biggest problem of Nigeria. It is the cause of corruption. We need true federalism or outright disintegration Also, noone told you they are paying money for fuel they didnt import. The importers are doing a legitimate business. Those talking about naming them or arresting them are funny. They are doing legitimate business. The problem is that the Nigerian situation has created loopholes for them to benefit unfairly. Government simply wants to block those loopholes |
