Phones / Re: Samsung To Pay Apple $1.05B for Patent-Infringement by dmainboss: 10:26am On Aug 25, 2012
This is just unnecessary alarm. The world is moving too fast. Patents and lawsuits can't stop technological innovation and advancement. The Android has come to stay. The best thing Apple can do for herself is to keep being innovative.

Remember how microsoft tried for years to use lawsuits to control the PC market and failed. Why? Because they couldn't defeat their biggest enemy-new inventions. Believe me, according to moore's law, the phone we will be using in 3 to 5 years time will be different from what it is now. So Apple patents will not even be relevant then. It is like Microsoft fighting hard over PC patents in 2012. That would be stupid because PCs are practically dead. Tablets are taking over. In 5 years, PCs will be near extinct just like the old briefcase computers.

That is why I feel sorry for Nigerian telecom networks. Their biggest challenge and competitor will soon be improved Internet bandwidth and they know it. I don't think I even spend up to 1k a month on phone these days. I only call family and for quick messages. Everything else is email, bb, sms, social media. That's what technology brings. New ways and tools that are cheaper, better and effective.

For Apple, they need to start thinking more like google. The future is not sleeky hardware. The future is services, interconnectivity, interoperability and seemless workflow and convergence.

I will answer your questions; Until you know your right standing in Christ, you will come to realize that unto you is given the misteries of the Kingdom of God and that God has dealt with everyone a measure of faith. If you understand what the heir is, then you would know misteries of the kingdom of God. And i must tell you that in the Kingdom of God there are Classes of being. Look at the story of the rich man and lazarus, when they died the rich man went to hell while lazarus was on the bossom of abraham. what you should notice is that when the poor guy got to heaven he was still that same poor guy because the rich man told father abraham to send lazarus to dip his hand in water and quench his taste. your revelation to the things of God will make you a beter heir with Christ and when you get to heaven you will still have a crow for it because not everyone that gets to heaven will have a crown. the crown is for SOUL WINNERS and GIVERS.Read Ephesians 4:11-13. If no one is puting my picture in any place, at least i have my picture in my room because i am the express image of God. if i have to trek to the church of my fellow joint heir, then i am doing the right thing. the bible says ''do not forsake the gathering of your brethren'' Do you know that Jesus was selective? He said to the Father ''OF ALL YOU HAVE GIVEN ME NO ONE WAS LOST EXCEPT THE SON OF PERDITION'' so tell me, was that not selective? why did He have to choose the twelve disciples?

Everything you said has no basis in God's word. It comes from the teachings you have received from your church. God has no special children. He is no respecter of person. If you make yourself. Available to God, he will use you. And the crown you receive from God is not for soul winners and givers. Please do a search of crown and rewards in the new testament and study carefully. It is for those who overcome. Overcoming refers to many things. It is your pastor that told you it is for givers. Please study your bible for yourself after listening to your pastor. That is what we are told to do.

About being saved: I am already saved, I do not need a Jesus Christ to be saved. Apparently you people still believe that Jesus is the only way to God, for me, Jesus is a pathway to God, and I crossed that pathway already. Jesus, I know.

You just proved my point. I have nothing against you but the bible clearly shows that people like you cannot like or agree with a true message from Jesus and the bible. That you are comfortable with his message with what you believe up there just proves my point!

Billyonaire: Yes, it was a great eye-opener into the not-so-cool topics in Religion. Thank you for asking.

The last days, just like Jesus and the apostles prophesied. That the message of a "man of God" made you happy and opened your eyes, without bringing you into Christ and making you accept him as your Lord and savior, speaks volumes. It sure means there is something really wrong with that message.

Any true message from God will only do 2 things to a non-believer. It wil either make you repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and savior or reject it and walk away. If you can accept it and reject Jesus, it isn't a message from God.

KweenAdz: U guys better be careful wt wat you say abt d anointed of God..Lest U incur d wrath of God

Where on earth did you guys get this doctrine from that God destroys those who say things about a man of God? Where did it ever happen in the new testament?

I don't insult pastors because they are leaders that should be respected but the teaching or doctrine that God will pour his wrath on those who say things about "men of God" is false and only spread by pastors who are afraid of accountability or are doing the wrong thing. If you are a pastor doing the right thing, you wouldn't care what people say and certainly wouldn't wish or pray that they be destroyed. No man is above rebuke and rebuking someone is not the same thing as judging them. To judge a man is to proclaim their final outcome. You have no right to really do that because you don't even know if they have repented while you were judging. But to rebuke men is a different thing. It means you are stating that they are wrong and there is nothing wrong with that. Paul rebuked Peter when he did the wrong thing even though Peter was by far his senior in Christ. And Peter never threatened Paul with the wrath of God.

This Nigerian-enemy mentality has really eating deep.

I think NL should do a poll for how many people read an article before posting. It will interesting. From my observation so far, less than 20% actually read the article. But its amazing how they form an opinion before reading. It only means most of the posts are premeditated.

So you're trying to convice me that an okada man makes about N72,000 monthly after all expenses removed? Yet we talk about unemployment, WOW. Well I guess fuel subsidy shouldn't be a problem after all because going by the usual 70/30 ratio, they're are making about N95,000 monthly... NICE wink wink wink grin grin grin

Bros open your eyes very very well. Many of these okada guys have built houses. Have you ever seen a bus driver eaten or declaring beer at the end of everyday? The people who really suffer in Nigeria are young graduates who cannot do these kind of jobs and have to carry their CVs all over the place looking for office work. But if you are in lagos, you will find out many of these okada guys are graduates. Yes, graduates. They make good money bro.

Phones / Re: Nigerians Spent N603.2bn On Phone Calls In Six Months - Investigation by dmainboss: 6:16pm On Aug 18, 2012
manny4life:

Look, that's why I said his calculation is wrong.

First, there's a difference between revenue and income although both are earnings. What the world bank said is, "lives on $2pd" which is net income, NOT revenues.

Secondly, like I stated, he claimed "102million phones", which I said is "VAGUE", because 102million phones doesn't state the true/actual number of subscribers. Hypothetically speaking if one subscriber has 2phones, technically, that's 51million true subscribers and you can evaluate the subscribers base upon the WBG figures.

Thirdly, he said "The world bank tells us that 70%(112 Million) of the population lives on lass than $2 a day which equates to 9600 Naira per month." How can you equate 70% of true population (lives), against number of phones, rather than subscribers? Secondly, if it's on subscribers level, that's still @ 63.75%, if we recalculate and adjust the 63.75 to 70% (about 6.25% points) to other variables, we can see his calculation is way off course.

Fourthly, he claimed "Now is it possible that poor people spend an average of 10% of their in come on calls? Dem never chop. Never pay rent. Never buy cloth. But get to spend 10% of their income on clothes. 2 dollar per day my foot." How come does he use the word "AVERAGE", then again, say "the poor", isn't the average supposedly "Wealthy" + "Rich" + "Average" + "Poor" + "Beyond Poor and Homeless"/by all these variables? If he wants to go by "POOR" index, like someone suggested, that's a totally different calculation altogether. A different survey should suggest different income levels as against cell card purchase.

Fifth, he said "I've been going around asking bike riders how much they earn on average daily and it is between 3000-6000 Naira daily in the south south! 2 Dollar per day my foot." I can't stress this enough, this is their revenues, NOT income. Don't these folks have fixed/variable + overhead expenses? Come on now, this isn't the true state of things, if we have to calculate things, LET'S BE HONEST WITH OURSELVES.

Maybe you don't live in naija or maybe you live in gra and don't move around. So I will repeat what he said to you. An okada man goes home with an average of 4k at the end of everyday. All expenses paid. A danfo driver goes hone with over 10k everyday after all expenses paid. That is their profit for the day. If you don't believe it, go to the streets yourself and find out. Don't just read stories from newspapers and UN.

How is a fraud exactly? That they exaggerated figures or made up figures, or what exactly? I fail to see how it's fraud, PLEASE enlighten me

Please listen well bro. Nigeria NGOs are a bunch of fraudsters. They are the ones that do these research for the UN in partnership with government. The NGOs can only get grants with reports like these. I know very very well what I am saying because I have worked with them. The government also needs these kind of reports so they can keep getting aids, loans and handouts from the international community. They never did any research. They sat in front of their laptops and cooked figures. I know how they work. Believe me, apart from some areas in the north, in most other places in Nigeria, people make far more than that. Even in the rural areas, you cannot say they live on less than $2 a day because, though they might not have much cash, they actually eat better than most urban dwellers. The average village food will cost a fortune to buy in Lagos, PH or Abuja. There are poor people in Nigeria but poverty is relative. The report, I insist, is a fraud

Bros your calculation is VERY Faulty, and the reason why is that, YOU CANNOT compare apple to oranges. The world bank figures is estimated at 70% of the population NOT 100% while 102million phones NOT subscribers. I can begin to tell you why your calculation are JUST WRONG...

How is his calculation wrong? Are you saying okada people and bus drivers are not in the 70%(report actually says 80%)? Then who constitutes the 80%? Even vulcanizers and many market women make above 2k per day.

Chill, the research is based upon an average, you know what an average is , right? Total sum of ALL variable divided by number of variables. The research is just an index of what an average Nigerian lives on, not necessarily what an individual Nigerian lives by...hope you understand the difference.

Please the research is a fraud. It was actually carried out by a combination of government, NGOs and UN. The problem is that the 3 groups I just listed have an interest and the favourable report for all of them is the one they released

crackhouse: They would have given us the percentage of people that spent more. For instance 17% spent 340billion, 10% spent 60billion etc

Please please bros, don't bring this argument. For you info, the poor or middle class spend more time on the phone than the rich. Most rich men I know don't stay long on the phone. Especially the enlightened ones. The highest selling recharge cards are the 100 and 200 denominations. Even if you assume that the rich call a lot, how much time can a single individual spend on calls in a day? And their calls are even cheaper because most of them are on some kind of call booster plans. The bitter truth is, Nigerians are not as poor as all those reports say. Some of us have been saying it for long. We just suffer basic amenities and harsh living environments but we aint really so poor.

The posts already on this thread and some others before this proves Nigerians are not interested in the government fighting corruption. They are just posting for posting sake or they are just critisizing because its not their own person that's in power.

Any genuine group of people who really want to see the government fight corruption will applaud this announcement and use it as a tool to fight the criminal establishments that have held us to ransom for so long. But Nigerians actually are corrupt themselves so they will even defend these indicted oil marketers. Just watch this thread and you will call me a prophet at the end. Many of them even support the electricity workers strike against the FG and they will come back and tell you they want 24hrs power. Tell me Nigerians aint getting what they deserve and I will call you a liar.

Some school of thought think that it's pure business foir the people who created this disease because the same people create temporary treatments for the same diseases.

How does reducing the population of some villagers in the middle of nowhere help a government in Europe and America? Or you forget many of these diseases like cancer and tumors are killing more whites in advanved countries than blacks in Africa? You forget that heart diseases and diabetes are killing more in America than Nigeria? I think we loose the opportunity to learn when we engage in blame game and conspiracy theories. I do believe many scientific experiments have resulted in the unleashing of some diseases into the world. But so also are the many modern practices of humans like beasteality. That is the essense of creating this thread. I would have wished it on the front page so many can discuss it. The truth is socia media has not really helped us to learn. How can you use one brand of BB that couldnt even sell to save its life as a measuring yardstick.

BB is not the most expensive phone. Making an irrelevant "customized" status brand that doesnt sell doesnt make a phone the most expensive phone. The BBs that are selling are Bold, Torch, Curve, etc. Compare that With the Samsungs and HTC and Apples. Any manufacturer can come out and gold plate their phone and sell it at 500k. Their equivalent tab, playbook, was a mess. How can you make a tab that has no wifi and browses by bridging with another BB phone draining 2 batteries at the same time. That has got to be the dumbest thing I ve ever seen. The whole creative department should be fired for that release. The way this BB phone hangs and freezes is legendary. The only part of the road that is bad and is currently being fixed is about 1 or 2 kilometers around Ofosu, after Ore if you are coming from Lagos. No other place is bad enough to require lane change. Just light potholes from time to time around the Ondo axis. Sometimes these drivers just act like they are on drugs. You have to shout on them sometimes.

A lot of the blame goes to the passengers. Nigerian passengers don't complain. They even encourage the drivers to break trafffic rules. If the driver refuses, they will say he is dull.

How can you advocate for a military coup when it was the military that put us in this mess in the first place. What sense is there in returning to military rule? All the mess we are going thru today was created by the military. The constitution, corruption, tribalism were all instituted by the military to keep themselves in power. No refinery or power plant was built for over 20 years. The corruption during the military could not even be exposed. At least they are being exposed today and we are becoming aware. Back then, you couldnt even talk about it. Abacha would just order that cash be brought to him directly from the CBN. No questions asked. If cash was not available, he would just order CBN to print more. ALl the military state governors had no opposition. You should try and ask your elders to brief you about Nigeria because you are clearly a teenager. Please dont remind some of us of those days. If you think the system became bad after OBJ or GEJ became president, you must be deluding yourself. A state of a nation at any given point in time is a function of policies and actions of at least five to 15 years before that time.
