A cursory look at the outcome of the 2023 election shows that Atiku and Obi got 6 + million votes respectively.Incumbent president Tinubu got 8+ million votes.
Numbers do not lie .A joint ticket of Atiku/Obi will do the magic for the coalition.
I also believe that Peter Obi can do it if he pairs with a political heavyweight from the north.
But realistically, Atiku/Obi is what the coalition needs to cruise to power come 2023

Peter Obi and Atiku have tested there popularity on the field and collectively has 14 million votes, far above Tinubu's 8 million dwindling votes.

The coalition should build on that and ensure that Obi and Atiku stays on the same ballot.

El-rufai can mobilize votes in the NW. He should also counter any religious propaganda that Tinubu and his co-travellers will pay Northern Imams and religious leaders to propagate against the coalition. We know they will be paid to target PO because he is Christian, and whip up rabid religious sentiments to sway votes..


Rotimi Amaechi is experienced already as a former campaign DG of APC, he can bring his experience to bear again and work for an Obi-Atiku joint ticket.

Any other game plan apart from this will come to naught..

During the build -up to 2023 elections, the SW came with rhetorical arguement that it is Southerners turn. They were everywhere telling that the South should queue behind Tinubu. Fast forward to 2025, the Yorubanization of Nigeria has shown us that the SW never meant Southerners, rather South Westerners.

Not a problem, there is a saying that whoever the pear become available for, let him lick to his satisfaction. But let noone come and hoodwink us with "Southerners turn" in the name of equity.

Speaking of equity, let us do the maths, because numbers do not lie. For the analysis, we will assume that Tinubu will complete his current tenor by 2027.

OBJ - (South West) 1999 - 2007: 8 years
Yardua (North West) 2007 - 2010: 2 years
GEJ (South South) 2010 - 2015: 6 years
Buhari (North West) : 2015 - 2023: 8 years
Tinubu (South West): 2023 -2027 4 years.

By 2027, the number will be as follows:
Southerners: 8+6+4 = 18 years
Northerners: 2+8 = 10 years

So, the North can demand another 8 years to even out to the South 8 years advantage. If we want EQUITY, let us allow the North meet up with the South. A more equitable arrangement would even be to give the South East the concession in 2027, after all what is good for the Yoruba is also good for the Igbos.

Because respected Northern leaders like Elrufai pricked the conscience of young Northerners reminding them how one good turn deserves another and why they need to allow power shift to the South. This was how Tinubu got 5.6m votes from the North out of his total 8.3m. Atiku managed to get 6.9m votes which suggests an almost 50-50 split. How did Tinubu react after winning? He betrayed Elrufai and arrogantly began to make unfavourable decisions inspite of the hardship. Nepotistic appointments to only yorubas, arrested underaged Northern hunger protesters while jailing Northern elders who spoke out like Prof Yusuf. Like I said, the North has an axe to grind with Tinubu in 2027.
