Forget her, forget the shop. See this one comparing OBJ to Umahi. OBJ was a global colossus before 1999, he had international and national acceptability, already in fora with men like Mandela, Desmond Tutu, on first name basis with almost all presidents in Africa, probably well known in many western capitals. He was sorta an opposition to the military government and was jailed for it apparently. As Nigeria needed to go in a new direction after Abacha's death and Abubakar's subsequent ascendancy, OBJ looked like the acceptable choice of the powers that be. PDP as a result was a child of circumstance, a new party. OBJ was a founding member of PDP. Even at that, the PDP presidential primary election was a keen contest between OBJ and Ekwueme. He was not chosen because he was from a particular tribe nor did he govern as that. Neither did his tribesmen clamour for him to be president. Infact they largely did not vote for him in that election. Did he do well as president? Personally I don't like him or his politics, i.e. he was as useless as Buhari and Jonathan.

Who is Umahi beyond joining APC last year and acting like lord of the manor in a drama sketch with an oversized ego? This was a man who ran away from his home PDP because he felt little compared to men like Wike who act alpha. He can only impress his sycophants in his cabinet and maybe the girls among his staff. I am sure the Abia, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Rivers governors will be waiting to crush him in the election because he has no weight and his politics is almost zero too.
He needs to put in more work and I am not saying he can never be president.

I agree so much with this. But remember not everyone in the east will vote for Apc just as not everyone will vote for pdp come 2023. Tinubu also should not depend solely on the north feeling cause he represent the south therefore his vote is secured. He should extend his visit and lobby to the east. Not tomorrow if an hausa man lobby in the east and get favoured some people will start insulting the igbos. As you respect the north, respect the east cause their vote will also be a deciding factor. And if also tinubu did not get a full support from the east does not mean everyone in the east don't like him.

Tinubu is no baby politician like Umahi, he has infiltrated the SE already and I am sure his men are doing the jobs. Most doings of APC men in SE are decided.

I am pretty sure before that man will decide to run for president and if he decides to, all the winning calculations or even losing calculations would have been done already. In other spheres, this would be SWOT analysis in strategy.

The Igbo political machine is not sufficiently matured enough yet. Your politicians need to realize that politics is not always only about destroying your competition. Mostly, you form alliances. Tinubu and Buhari political family had to come together in 2015 to win. Years before, that alliances would be unpredictable. Umahi needs to do the needful, if he needs help, he first needs to help. Support Tinubu now and see wonders in future. That is politics. You don't beg, you strategize and join the most formidable political force to win.

Buhari did it to become president or else he would still be crying now. It was a meagre 3 million vote margin in 2015. I am sure Umahi knows what to do.
