Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Unemployment Hits Nigerian Pilots, 170 Jobless by dolphinife: 8:14am On Aug 08, 2013
Some of us are talking out of ignorance. For a pilot to cough out about 10million naira just to be a pilot, do you think its easy? Moreover, pilot is very different from degree, we are talking of practical aspect.

You hardly find an unemployed pilot in any country. If not that our airlines are opting for expratriates, all those 170 wou have got a job.

For your information, the more a pilot stays at home, the more he becomes a sky-risk to flight. Since the job is about practical, a pilot must always fly every now and then or else, be expecting an air crash soon.

Infact, no pilot suppose to stay a day at home.....they are different from your yeye certificate una dey carry all about

ayobase: Unemployment 'HITS'........just ONLY 170 without work as pilot.

Then how will we decribe that of Engineers? ROCKS?

They can make them Co-pilots, and if there are already, then employ them as 'reserved' co-pilot!

See this people o!

Just 170 pilots without job and it HITS, when millions of graduates are roaming the streets without jobs.

Abi pilots special ni?

Been a stakeholder in the aviation sector, I have known overtime that Nigerian airlines are the ones killing the local innitiative. They always resort to expatriates simply because they are cheaper to get in terms of renumeration and salary compared to Nigerian pilot.

The situation is even worrisome to the extent that almost all the ground operations of arik air are eexpatriates especially those manning the international route. Moreso, dearth of aviation schools with up-to-date equipment is another problems contributing to this unemployment. For a pilot to start flying in Nigeria, d basics is for him to have atleast 200hours flight time. How can a fresh graduate get 200hour flight time when there is inadequate flight training equipments.

For some gullible thinkers here, OAU landscape was designed to better and improve that of UI. Obafemi Awolowo concived the idea and he saw the shortcomings in the design of UI, he thereafter, contracted the architectural work and design of OAU to Aeriel Sharon, an Israelis who was the best architect of his time.

In contrast, in terms of landscape and architectural design, there is no university in Nigeria that can ever beat OAU. In terms of educational standard and attainment, OAU ranks among the best. For over 20years, OAU has been ranked 1-4th in Nigeria. This shows OAU is a class on its own
Education › Re: OAU Ranked 8th In Africa And 1st In Nigeria by dolphinife: 2:25pm On Aug 06, 2013
Though, i graduated from OAU, i will alwys dispute all these useless ranking institutions because they do not have cogent basis for ranking universities. Be that as it may, the ranking is a welcome development which am very proud to associate with.

Whether OAU is living on past glories or not, the point is that OAU is a model to so many universities in Africa and the world generally. I can't count several industrialists and university owners who have visited OAU in the past to study the architectural layout so that same can be replicated in their private-owned-universities.

By far, minus educational standard, OAU is the most beautiful campus in Nigeria. I mean, OAU is just too beautiful to behold that you will always marvel to see such a marvelos architectural masterpiece given to us by ARIEL SHARON. OAU is also the citadel and fountain of vibrant and eloquent unionism in the country. No other university in this country could boast of a strong sense of activism as much as OAU. OAU is the bedrock of ASUU in Nigeria and it remains so.

If you are reading this comment, and at the same time, you are also a nairalander, just know that the platform you are using to reply was created by an OAU graduate grin grin grin grin

Inducted into the USA and Canada music hall of fame,etc.....I want u all to go and listen to andrea bocelli's voice....u will damn love it....yet, he's blind
Politics › 35 New Firms Open For Business In Ogun State In Two Years by dolphinife(op): 5:03pm On Aug 05, 2013
The Ogun state's industrialisation project has received a strong boost as thirty-five new firms have opened their production plants in the state's industrial estates in the last two years.

Some of the new companies are WEMPCO STEEL MILLS, DANGOTE CEMENT, MAY&BAKER and GOLDEN PASTA. Others are GOODWILL CERAMICS, ADE DISTRIBUTION AND INVESTMENT LIMITED AND AFRICAN FOUNDRIES LIMITED. Apart from that, 80 new companies presently have their applications before the state government via the ministry of commerce and industry. This disclosure was made by the State's commissioner for commerce and industry, Bimbo Ashiru, "We need to realise that commerce and industry is the key. Let me put it this way, if you are talking about internally generated revenue, it has to be driven by commercial activities in the state.

The state, in its bid to maintain its position as the largest industrial estate in Nigeria, has introduced many incentives for investors and this include a one-stop shop which has reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks in seeking the necessary permits to do business in the state. Mineral resources in the state include Limestone, Bitumen, Phosphate, Kaolin, Tar sand and clay some of which can be mined for the next 500 years, according to analysis.

The State's industrial estates include Abeokuta-Lagos/Abeokuta estate, Ota-Idi Iroko estate, Agbara-OPIC estate, Ijebu Ode-Ikangba estate, and Ogijo-Ikorodu estate, others are Ilaro-Ibeshe estate, Sagamu-Benin road estate and Ijebu Igbo-Oru estate.

tokunboh: There was no crisis that would have prevented RSHA from sitting. They house of assembly passed the appropriation bill into law after the said fracas - based on this, can we say the house was not able to sit? People called for Chidi Lloyd's head because the dastardly act he carried out is still in the public domain - just wondering why the NASS resolution did not address this act of terror.
Evans Bipi and other people have come forward to say the speaker was not impeached by 5 people but by the required percentage of honourables as required by law. Amaechi's supporters and the press are the ones telling the whole world that 5people impeached the speaker. It would be nice if they can release the CCTV recording of the impeachment to the public to prove their case or is it that they have something they are hiding? Why are they not bold enough to release the said CCTV footage? It is not in our place to be judge over this case, let them take it to court and let the court decide whether the impeachment was legal or not. People should stop saying 5people impeached the speaker, the CCTV footage can put an end to this grey area. Thank you

Those governing the state do not have foresight nor do they have brain to steer such a sophisticated state.

The problem some of our Igbo brothers are having is that to them, is not as if Okorocha is not working or has not performed to a certain level, what they can't stomach is seeing their okorocha saying yes sir to Tinubu or Buhari.

Even before Okorocha started romancing with APC, these set of people are the one flaunting the works and achievement of Okorocha on Nairaland. Now, that okorocha has alligned himself to a party that they cnt stomach, he has become a failure and non performer to them.

Nevertheless, Uduaghana, martin elechi, dickson, Theordore Orji and Obi's achievement combined cnt surpass what okorocha has done. There's no way you wouldn't makeitics, because one's tribe cnt win elections for someone.

Infact, the only party as at present that's owned and controlled by Hausas is the PDP....can we now see the logichuh
Politics › Re: Jonathan’s Visit To China Jolts Obama To Seek Reconciliation With Nigeria by dolphinife: 11:06am On Aug 04, 2013
Someof us here are naïve and incongruous. There is a practice by any president or prime minister of any countries, whenever they are flying or passing tru the airspace of a particular country, a cabled message would be sent to the ATC, greeting the president of the country and telling him he/she is passing through the airspace.

This practice has been for long and I recognise the fact that Obama never did that to GEJ to show how much hatred he has for Nigeria and GEJ in general. The period also coincide with the NGF brouhaha where 16 was pronounced greater than 19. This scenario affected the image of Nigeria that some presidents are even avoiding our airspace...
Politics › Re: Ethiopian To Become The First International Carrier To Fly To Enugu, Nigeria by dolphinife: 1:07pm On Aug 03, 2013
I want to rejoice and congratulate my brothers across the Niger for this initiative which will definitely ease the burden of travelling all the way from east to Lagos or Abuja.

Nevertheless, Ethiopian airline intervention in Enugu airport is much more strategic with no politics attached. Nothing concerns GEJ with any airline flying to and fro cos the airlines would be the one to know if the route is profitable to them or not.

By congratulating our brothers across the Niger, this shouldn't be an avenue to start abusing and cursing the southwest. I have seen some of us have started using derogatory words and comments on the southwest. Like I said before, this feat is more economical than political as a lot have started hailing GEJ as if he brought or compel ethiopian to fly direct to Enugu

I dnt knw why some tribes just have this inner mind of hating each other. What we dnt knw is that a lot of Yoruba and Igbos are marrying themselves everyday. A lot of Yoruba and Igbo are partnering for businesses everyday.

Am a yoruba man, almost all the men in my family got married to Igbo women and am also planning to follow suit. Infact, the lingual franca in our family is Yoruba and Igbo. We co-exist peacefully without rancour. If you people want to break up this country or want to start a war, what do u want those people that have married other tribes to do?

It saddened my heart for a newspaper to involve itself in selective journalism. @OP, the news you quoted actually was Sun Newspapers fake news, owned and managed by Orji Uzor Kalu. Am very ashamed that becos you wanted to score cheap political advantage, you intermittently used Sun Newspaper as a point of reference. The newspaper in question is owned by an easterner, with an eastern agenda.

Even the owner whom I suppose every tom and harry should stone to death for shortchanging the future of Abians, has become the mouthpiece of Ndigbos. No other newspaper actually reported that people died in detention, and this should be a figment of some people's imagination.

Infact, the useless +rji Kalu has almost all his businesses concentrated in Lagos. Why cnt he take those businesses back to Abia to develop his people?. Some people are not shameful at all

Modern processions of hooded Flagellants are still a feature of various Mediterranean Catholic countries, mainly in Spain, Italy and some former colonies, usually every year during Lent. They also occur in the Philippines during Holy Week. For example in the commune of Guardia Sanframondi in Campania, Italy, such parades are organized once every seven years.

Some Roman Catholics in Philippines practice flagellation as a form of devout worship, sometimes in addition to self-crucifixion (during the end of Lent season).

all these sacrifices are child play compared to what's obtainable among the royal houses in Ijebu-Ode. The practice has been age-long and I know its still in vogue

Immediately an incumbent king diesn I.e, the Awujale of Ijebuland, his body would be butchered and cut into three parts. The three pieces of the body would be buried at the three entrance that enters Ijebu Ode. This tradition has been age-long like I said, but I understand the incumbent has devise a way to circumvent this practice by instructing his children to embalm him immediately he dies so dat his body will be useless to the kingmakers.

Moreso, there is an age-long tradition in which a prince who wanted to be made a king would be instructed to eat the liver of his predecessor. And as he would be eating, d kingmakers would be intermittently asking him wat he's doing and he will reply them "am eating king"...direct translation meaning "mon joba".

Therefore, the present king of Ijebu-ode has directed that such barbaric act should stop forthwith and him should be accorded a full burial rites....

FYI, these assertions might be untrue, but, there are element of truths in it

Never mind my grammatical errors

The first time I met wole soyinka, I was at 200level in OAU. He came with retinue of aides who helped carry his bags and folders. All these aides were Professors and whites. He was so accommodating that he penned his signatures on anything we presented to him. From that day onward, I decided to study the man, his life, his cuase, devotions and those things that inspired him to greatness

What some of us couldn't remember is that Soyinka was more brutish towards turai and OBJ with the use of english. Soyinka is widely known for his usage of pen and mouth to criticise any oppresive regime right from independence. His use of words and pen endear him to every countries of this world that he was given a life ticket to enter any country of his choice without visa. Even not all presidents or prime ministers do enjoy that kind of privilege.

Nevertheless, the question we suppose to ask is this...
Would this be the first time Wole Soyinka is using verbal attacks on any government he percieved oppressive?
Let it be clear to anybody who care to knw that the OP is a coward. If the OP know that he's the tue son of his parents, can he boldly say all these to Wole soyinka physically? As far as I know, there's no human being on earth that Wole soyinka can't take on and the better we live with that.

Whether soyinka is demented or senile or mad or whatever, that's subjective. But we should be rest assured that in future, if there's going to be any injustice to malign PEJ or GEJ, Wole soyinka is going to come out and defend them again.....

Tinubu brought Fashola, at a time, they almost quarrel over the sharing formula.....hehehehehe....I dey laugh in pidgin
Audu abubakar brought idris of kogi, their relationship deteriorated also...
Goodluck brought in Sylva, their relationship collapse to the extent that Sylva was never re-elected
