I'm not from Mbaise (I'm from Ngor/Okpala). I however understand the position and sentiments of Mbaise people on the matter, having " paid their dues" in Nigerian Catholicism& having quietly followed the trend in bishopric appointments. My grouse with them is that for about two whole years after the Bishop Chikwe passed on the clergy et al bickered endlessly amongst themselves about who'll succeed him, thus necessitating this intervention from Rome. If they had put their houses in order long ago there would have been no need for this impasse. |
@Samir101ng: the 600m was allegedly found in his account. And not on him. @black swan: please how would you have wanted to confirm the story and how have you been confirming the other stories from the jtf. |
Had a similar experience. After we stopped 'dating' She started seeing my brother. And slept with him. Somehow somehow I got to know by happenstance after they had stopped seeing and she had become friendly with me again. I had no issues with her sleeping with the world, but my brother. Well, I invited her to my office, severely tongue lashed her till she broke down in tears. of course I also berated my brother severely in the strongest of terms without mincing words. I subsequently downgraded the relationship to a physical affair to get back my pound of flesh. Right now each time she talks about marriage I conveniently tell her we can't marry because she don chop my brother. |
what of "Don't sH!t" . My grandma (bless her soul) didn't like that, if my memory serves me right. Lol. |
naijaz_own: BATA or LENARDS...Lwkmd. you and I are kindred spirits. Being cute and all I had no problem wearing them in primary school o. But when my no nonsense dad got tired of my carelessness with my sandals and punitively decreed a reintroduction of rugged and all-weather cortina in my J.S 2 (1990) I took it personal and as a declaration of war and I privately revolted!!! Lol. Did all i could to destroy it, including taking my bath in it. Yet the bleeding thing refused to die. That period should be my saddest in secondary school. |
I think it all stems from mother tongue and culture. Among our Owerri people, no matter how bona fide your intentions may be, you usually wouldnt ask your senior "I mena kp'ole"? Which is our dialectical equivalent of "how are you". It is customary for that question to come from the elder person. In the central Igbo also, i'm not sure i've ever asked someone older than me "Kedu" or "Olia", unless its someone i'm excessively familiar and playful with. It is only natural therefore for these cultural norms and observances to be carried into the English Language. Personally, I do not ask my seniors how they are without ending it with "sir" or "Ma" in order to fully demonstrate that I mean no slight. Conversely, if my junior would ask me that and sounds too confident and haughty I just wont bother responding. |
This is the cover picture of the 2nd part of his biographical trilogy: Penkelemes. |
Just retain the services of a good lawyer. The procedural rules of landlord and tenant matters are very technical. Just like in fundamental human rights and matrimonial causes. A single mistake can jeopardise your case and keep your tenant there endlessly. You should also read up the case of AP v. OWODUNNI (will supply citation later) it will broaden your mind better on the dangers of engaging in guesswork in this kind of thing. |
God bless you all. I was in U.I from 96/97 session to 2001/2002 session. Faculty of Law, Tedder Hall HRC Clerk, Choirmaster at the Seat of wisdom Chaplaincy. Currently work with the FCT judiciary in a judicial capacity (lower bench). Schooling in UI (like my parents did) is one of the best things that has happened to me for a lot of reasons. I wish you all the best in your quests and endeavours. Always strive to be the best of what you are. Pax Domine sit semper vobiscum. |
Omo_Tier1: Yes it was ill advised simply because He failed to do what was right in the first instance! Was it not foolish of the president handlers that they waited for the opposition to set their foot in Borno before the President realized that Borno was still part of Nigeria He sworn to protect?opposition can go into the lions' den a million times if they want. After all the islamist terrorists arent after them. |
bizybrain: Rainbow screen voltron Willi Willi rambo and commando. Such good memories they bring.Rainbow screen This was a black and white television!! |
ikechukz: OP with regards to #9, I can move my waist more than the average girl,Is it a turn on.you be homo. |
it was during Prof. Olikoye Ransome Kuti tenure as minister of health that Doctors transmogrified into demi-gods in the health sector, both in gaping pay disparity and in assuming certain positions as a birthright. Presently they're agitating, among other things, for the post of Surgeon-General to be created because there is a position for Attorney-General. Forgetting that the A.G is a constitutionally guaranteed position and indeed the only ministerial position that has a constitutional backing. Such is the nature of their peremptory and importunate demands. They'll embark on strike at the drop of a hat to press home and armtwist the Government to cave in to their preposterous cravings. doctors have embarked on more strikes than any other profession in the country. Ironically they should even be the last to strike given the humanitarian nature of their job&ought to borrow a leaf from other health professions in this regard .I doubt if the so called hippocratic oath means anything. I really blame successive government administrations for treating them with kid gloves and pandering to their ever whimsical and capricious demands. nonsense. |
i've moved my salary account from there and almost emptied the account. They sent plenty harassing text messages followed by this preposterous email you talked about. I go soon close the account. Unless they agree to give me a loan on generous terms. Lol. |
kulyie: you dont make an objective opinion of people from afar.you cannot study someone from afar and judge her based on her attitude, composure, personality etc from afar talkless of watching the person in one event less than 24hours so mr,kindly park well.united nations ko,united village ni :plooks like you have some issues with comprehension. I said i met her. And you're talking of watching from afar. I encountered and interacted with her! She, M.I and myself were given awards for supporting the fight against human trafficking. She was the M.C too. So i made a clear statement of fact based on real evidence. Not hearsay or speculation. I know you're star-struck but facts are sacred. |
hmmmm. Was he really created? As far back as the 90s when I was in U.I he used to hold comedy shows on campus (laffomania) and we would gladly skip a meal and save money to watch him at the arts theatre or whichever venue he stages his show. |
alaoeri: So you are bittered now that Dr Sid is more recognise & above all of u in the entertainment club same as ppl are hating & criticising Dbanj just because he's above their so called talented artists. Abeg accept how God arrange the thing. If you read carefully and try a little more at comprehension you'll see that my submission was devoid of any modicum of bitterness. What i made was a clear and verifiable statement of fact. Not meant to disparage Sidney. Not everybody would go full time into music entertainment. So there's no basis for drawing your preposterous conclusion. |
I KILL: when I talk say d.banj no get talent, dem say I dey hate, dis is what happens wen we africans (especially nigerians) listen 2 d beat of a song and not d lyrics and voice of d song cuz I see no reason why d.banj shud rep nigeria in anything atall wen we av d likes of darey, bez, praiz and even iyanya whom I know can sing something meaningful if he wants to, and 1 thing dat surprises me again is d kind of people we use as judges in a music talent show, imagine using some1 like davido, d.banj, jesse jagz as judges 4 a singing competitionyoure very correct my brother. I recall being in an entertainment club, rockforce, with Sidney (Dr. Sid) when we were in U.I. The guy was never good enough to sing with us at any of our shows in Lag or Ibadan. His routine was strictly dancing in between shows.( A fantastic dancer he is, by the way.) so you can imagine my consternation when he started 'singing' with mohits. |
Afam4eva: I wonder why the governor hates Aba so much. This should be in Aba and not Umuahia.my brother you just spoke my mind. umuahia is a very small and dull town with very little human traffic from out of town. I wonder who will patronise this mart. The governor is from umuahia. So i'm not surprised he sited it there. I wonder why Abia politicians cannot realise the economic importance of aba. Rather they fight tooth and nails to bring it down to its feet. They should have just left it in Imo state if they had no plans to develop it. |
one sunday around 1992 or so a man dressed in white garment and carrying a bible was loitering in the zoo premises. When the attendants weren't looking he climbed into the lion's den and started shouting prayers, quoting the bible and commanding the lion to obey him like Daniel was obeyed. The lion initially was taken aback at the sudden intrusion by a stranger. But eventually realising that it is a lion, the king of the jungle, it pounced on the man, promptly flattened him and killed him with a bite or two at strategic parts of the body. Would i say luckily, the lion had eaten earlier So it didnt eat his flesh. This story was widely reported in newspapers then, particularly the National Concord and the gist continued spreading on campus up till 1997 when I entered U.I. Greatest Tedderites!!! |
She strikes me like an arrogant woman. met at a united nations event last year. Didn't quite like her attitude in real life and her manner of approach.. On TV, she's Ok. |
berem: If traders in computer village generates 2billion dollars annually, how much does Nigeria Customs generate biko? I can't believe this!Customs at tin can island port command alone generated 50 billion naira in the first quarter of this year. |
kacheezy: BH has killed more muslims than Christians...our politicians are taking this thing to far...but i tot Asari Dokubo is a Mujahedeen...i wonder where you get your statistics from. Your brother Boko Haram has never bombed a mosque or anything relating to islam. They've never bombed a motor park for northern bound vehicles. Anytime their wicked acts affects muslims its usually as collateral damage. They're usually not the primary targets. Remember that part of their demands is a total islamisation of the country. Pls stop playing the ostrich. |
Reference: That's why some lawyers don't like placing their defence counsels on the stand."defendant". Not "defence counsels". A defence counsel is the defendant's lawyer and has no business in the witness box. But i get what you're saying. She's not helping matters with her submissions. (many submissions here are downright puerile) @topic: morality is a private thing. Promiscuity or proclivity for it has absolutely nothing to do with one's profession. I even wonder where the nurses are (apart from hospitals) because they're the most scarce professionals. You could enter a night club or social gathering and count plenty other professionals but not a single nurse. I think they make fantastic wives too and would really want to settle down with one. 3 of my aunts hold very senior nursing positions while my own mum retired as director of nursing services. So i can claim a certain level of knowledge about nurses. I don't recall her not being at home or not having time for us. Even in her younger days when she had to do night duties it was always followed by a whole week of "night off" where doesn't go to work at all. So there's absolutely nothing wrong in marrying them. I'll be their advocate any day.(i don de beg one to marry me since 2 years now sef ) |
Greatest University of Ibadan of our fathers. No be today students politics begin. Beautiful interview and insight. |
lol. My first phone was one red alcatel i bought late 2003 when glo was doing one promo like that. You paid 10k and the balance of 6k is deducted as you load credit. Those guys ended up taking over 20k.still didn't Stop deducting money until i mailed a petition to NCC to call them to order. I was in law school then and I recall glo had no service unless you climbed a little elevation behind F block and the wind blew favourably. |
not surprising at all. Every major media house has a mandela obituary desk. Some time a go a media house was forced to dismantle cameras it positioned near his house in the house of being the first the break the news of his death. The man lives on. |
interesting. thought I was the only one to have observed this peculiarity. I've dated 3 and actually got engaged to 1. But they all seem to have this inexplicable chip on their shoulders, even when they do not necessarily measure up intellectually. i often wondered what informed their arrogance and hubris. One even had the temerity to tell me that a teacher or someone of a "lower level" occupation would fit me better. Funny enough she just graduated freshly from one of state schools in the East. |
Our Yansh: GEJ has two "Performing" ministers to take over in case Madam doesn't make it. After all what's a plan without a Plan B??its "Mrs." Diezani Alison-Madueke, Wife of a two time Military Governor and former Chief of Naval Staff (A 4 Star General)who is very much alive and active and has been a big boy long before Jonathan thought of politics. Why disparage and impugn the character of a happily married mother and wife because you do not agree with her on issues? |
