2003. When my father strongly threatened not to pay my law school fees over some trumped up allegations of insurbordination on my part. It was tears of helplessness and frustration. Lol. But I think I shed a tear or two last year when oga, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma died in the Dana air crash. |
He was such a nice, lively man with an avuncular disposition. Lived life to the fullest. I recall my first encounter with him in 1998 when as a sophomore at the university of ibadan I was invited with the Students Choral Ensemble to stage a Christmas concert at his Uli Atobileke palatial residence. We had many more of such invitations. He always took time to party and discuss with us after the guests must have all departed. I recall his beautiful guest house atop a hilly area - still within his compound - where he usually lodged us. He was a grand patron of the arts and my first contact with distinguished, refined and erudite royalty with a flair for the arts. I recall he - with nostalgia - always regaled and inspired us with his stories as a young choir boy and as a student in University of Ibadan (Then University College Ibadan). The handsome honorarium he usually paid us after performances were the only money I ever earned as a student! It in turn inspired me to set up upon graduating from u.i and the law school, a flourishing professional choral group: The Abuja Choral Ensemble. The Lisa will surely be missed by everyone who came in contact with him. Requiem aeternam dona ei,Domine,et lux perpetua luceat ei, amen. Requiescat in pace. Amen |
He conveniently forgot to mention the massive underaged voting in the north . Abi that one no follow? And his injunctions to his illiterate followers that sparked the boko haram ascendancy et al after he lost. Make we hear word jor. |
hmmm. Served in sokoto (2004-2005) with the ministry of justice. Dunno how it is now. But it was quite challenging then. Camp was fun. But after Camp, comes reality, especially when they post you to far flung border towns like ilela and the rest. Be cautious and observant. Looks like it Was much safer in our time. God be with you all. |
i admire your penmanship |
ceeceeco: Pls who's the best Nollywood actor amongst the duo of chinedu ikedieze & osita iheme? Anyway i surmise it's osita iheme. He's got more of the talent.how can you use "best" when comparing two people. I wonder what they teach you people in school these days. |
area 8, garki abuja.none all through the day despite the stifling heat. They bring it later in the evening and take it before 9am next day. So sad considering that there was a time when power outage was unheard of in this town. I'm sure its the low water level at kainji dam thats causing the problem. |
sokoto paid 5k in 2004. |
RICHIE BOI: So I heard myself too. I think a day in prison is counted as 2 days . Lawyers in house should pls help us here.you are talking about concurrent and consecutive sentencing. When a three count charge, for instance, is preferred against an accused and maybe he is found guilty of all the counts. Each count may carry a jail term of 2 years .all together that is 6 years. (consecutively) but If its to run concurrently then the convict would only spend 2 years. As each of the 2years would be running at the same time. |
its a bailable offence. Lets not also forget that in our laws an accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Thats the law as it is. |
that magician's prediction last year that we'll play ghana in the finals and they would win 3. 1 scared me wella. It almost came to pass. |
Geomac: I don't think so o. I think this should be the last judgement.No. He can appeal to the supreme court. |
I think its reliable enough. Considering it was the strategy employed by the U.S to ascertain that it was the bin laden family were living in that household.. They sent spies that posed as child immunisers who secretly took swabs as they immunised. |
As a choral musician I tend to get involved one way or the other with CAN activities. As recently as 2weeks ago I was at the National Christian Centre for the National Armed Forces Rememberance Day Service.. I keep shaking my head at the underground bazaar that goes on there. Everything is an opportunity to make money. Many mushroom church leaders in CAN have turned millionaires overnight.. The Catholic Church traditionally is orderly, conservative and doesn't suffer fools gladly. Not surprised they've pulled out at the national level. |
After they conceded the 88th minute equaliser against roberto baggio inspired Italy in the second round of USA 94 I just realised its better to be alive than die of super eagles induced hypertension. I now support super falcons and golden eaglets. Less risky. |
The correct spelling is "YACHT". Its pronounced like 'yot'. There's no English word like yatch. |
truth is that English language is taught and learnt at the primary and secondary school levels and not the universities. Universities had to introduce General Studies Courses in the 90s when it was discovered that students coming in were sadly very deficient in English and its practical use. But its not possible to learn in one semester what you couldn't learn it in 12yrs of primary and secondary education. |
the story is told of a crazy and violent young man who had a penchant for cutting off heads. He went about his beheading business without let or hindrance. Various appeals to his parents to caution him and call him to order fell on deaf ears. They simply refused to be bothered. To cut a long story short, he eventually beheaded everyone in their village and there was no one left except his parents.well, by now the beheading had turned compulsive and pathological. So it must continue. Therefore he turned to his parents and decapitated them without much ado. Suss out the moral of the story yourself. |
one night, about three years ago, i was in a taxi drop from wuse to garki. As we rode on the bridge shortly after sheraton junction, a man emerged from the bush by the right (green area) and threw a massive stone which shattered the back passenger's windscreen. The mumu driver wanted to stop immediately to find out who did that and why. but a stern look front me got him to change his mind. At the filling station opposite nnpc we saw some policemen and reported the matter. Guess What? They said the bridge was outside their jurisdiction. Till today i wonder what that incident was all about. |
the algerians lack the expertise to engage the terrorists. Should have waited for the british who were already making plans to intervene given the fact that many of the hostages were britons. The british prime minister wasn't even informed before the harebrained attempt to rescue. |
at the national christian centre, abuja, yours truly conducted the choral group that sang the opening and closing national anthem and one special number (we shall overcome). It was a beautiful and colourful day, indeed. |
Its on record that the alumni of UI includes more than half of the past vice chancellors of UNN. Counting the galaxy of stars in UI alumni is an exercise in futility cos you can't stop. Founded in 1948,its not fair to compare the alumni list with those of later generation universities like UNN (1960). Like should compete with like. UI's contemporaries are the likes of University of Legon, in Ghana. |
@otum4 so! they shud scan Ghanaians on here huh?, like u won' find Nigerians on Ghanaweb, u expect your "self hating" brains to be left alone and spit garbage abt ma country and expect me to let it slide?, I said it b4 and will say it again, stop down playing Ghanaians, if we so full of poo, how come a small nation like Ghana be the 1st down here to gain independence?, I will not insult y'all back tho, holla! Granted that Ghana attained independence before Nigeria, but Nigeria attained Self-Rule First and indeed would have attained Independence earlier had Sir Anthony Enahoro's motion to that effect in 1956 9or is it early 57) not been opposed by the Northern Region which preferred Independence "as soon as practicable" to immediate Independence. However early Independence doesn't necessarily bestow progress or prosperity to a nation. Ask Ethiopia (which was never even colonized) and Liberia. On the issue at hand, methinks The faults lies in our corrupt leaders, past and present, that a lilliputian should be challenging a Giant. Our people say that he who brings ant-infested firewood to his house should not complain when lizards pay him visits. If we clean up our house and attain our true potentials (or even half of it), all this nonsense from minnows won't be necessary. |
The First Indigenous Principal and later Vice-Chancellor of the University College, Ibadan (later University of Ibadan) was not a tribal marked Yoruba man! His name is Prof Kenneth Dike. In the 70s, Prof Tekena Tamuno (from the south south) was V.C of the same University also. We must learn to outgrow ethnic jingoism in this country before we can move forward! |
Unless and until the board apologises to Mourinho, things will keep being rough for Chelsea. Here's a man who won 6 titles in his short stay, including an unprecedented back to back win of the league in his first 2 seasons, after half century hiatus.Suddenly, the hitherto underachieving airheads started clamouring for attractive football, leading to his ignominious exit. e good? |
she's as guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of poo!! |
You sound fanatical and bigoted smartsoft: |
In some parts of the North this wouldn't be an issue. Infact it is encouraged. Yes, I once had a similar attraction for a delectable second-cousin who I met for the first time in a family reunion. But I quickly counselled myself. I however think you should steer clear of her unless u want your bloated body to be thrown into the evil forest when u die from ur intended abomination. |
Its a government Job. You cant negotiate! |
Is it true the forms have finished and they're expecting more? |
unless one is rabid about law practice, I see no reason why anyone should pidgeon-hole himself. Almost every organisation or Govt body in Nigeria has a legal department. Recently EFCC advertised. Some state Judiciaries provide for Legal Assistants for Judges. I think one ought to look farther and wider. I believe law practice is a calling, requiring divine patience. (did someone say 7k?) On Abuja, a couple of the newly sworn in Judges are looking for Legal Assistants. You might want to give it a look in. |
