His sonorous voice will be sorely missed. With so many hit songs to his name.

Each morning we wake we must be thankful to God. His death was announced by his family on Sunday morning the 11th of July 2021

PoliticsMiddle Belt Rejects Core North, Won't Go With North If Nigeria Breaks by domaya21(op): 8:12pm On Jun 01, 2021
North, Middle Belt groups disagree on break up
Friday Olokor
1 June 2021
Kindly share this story:

Chief Ayo Adebanjo

Tempers rose on Monday among participants at the ‘Nigeria’s 2023 Presidential Transition Inter-Ethnic Peace Dialogue’ organised by Youths Off The Street Initiative when the Middle Belt Forum said it would not go with the North should Nigeria break up.

The event, with the theme, ‘Restructuring and 2023 power shift: Nigeria’s make or break factor for political survival’, and convened by the President of YOTSI, Kennedy Iyere, was attended by leaders of ethnic nationalities including the leader of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; President, Yoruba Council of Elders, Dr Kunle Olajide, and President of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, Jonathan Asake.

Others were a former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife; President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr George Obiozor; convener, National Consultative Front and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba; and a political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi.

The leadership of the major socio-cultural groups from the Southern and Middle Belt of the country at the event adopted a common position demanding an emergency national conference that would lead to the emergence of a new constitution and restructuring of Nigeria.

They said it was possible to reverse the current challenges facing the country and prevent Nigeria from breaking up if the Federal Government listened to the recommendations they were putting forward.

But tension mounted when the leader of the Northern Consensus Initiative, Dr Awal Abdullahi, said the North was no longer opposed to a break-up of the country.

He said, “The North, before now, was saying ‘we don’t believe in separation’; but as I’m standing, I’m telling you that if there is going to be separation tomorrow, the North is ready for it. We are also ready, let’s go our different ways and I am telling you this with all sincerity.

“Northern Nigeria, before now, did not want to hear anything separation; but as at today, as I speak to you, the North is equally ready. What I am saying might be controversial, but I am speaking the minds of Northerners and I have no apology to anyone in this hall. Although I respect the leaders and elders here, I have no apology to anybody on what I say.”

However, the confusion generated by his statement had hardly died down when another speaker, the President of the Middle Belt Forum, Dr Pogu Bitrus, mounted the rostrum to respond to Abdullahi’s position.

According to him, the Middle Belt would not pull out of the country with the core North.

He said, “So if my brother says the North is going, be sure the Middle Belt is not going with you; you are on your own. We have served and sacrificed for this country. The (civil) war that occurred, the Middle-Belt was used to fight while the North sat back to enjoy.”

Bitrus said the Middle Belt adopted the proposal of Afenifere and Ohaneze as a common position that would save the country.

Adebanjo, while presenting the position of the Yoruba, which was also adopted by the Ohaneze and MBF, said the process for a genuine consensus on an acceptable national constitution should begin with the production of position documents by all nationalities between now and December.

He said going forward, Nigerians should be allowed to exercise their rights and sovereignty on how they wanted to live together under mutually beneficial terms.

The nonagenarian said the various regions in the country should be allowed to choose the type of government they wanted to adopt within their area under a truly federal structure which would guarantee some measure of autonomy and control over resources and policing of the

CrimeGoodluck Jonathan's Solution To Israel And Palestinian War by domaya21(op):
Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has advised the international community against taking sides in the current conflict between Israel and Palestine.

He said the conflict can only be resolved when those living within the borders of Israel and Palestine take the time to understand each other until they come to a place where they can coexist, co-prosper, and eventually cooperate.

Jonathan said this can only happen when there is a ceasefire, stressing that such should be the aim of the international community.

“I have been to both Israel and Palestine, and as a result, I have some understanding and appreciation of the human angles on both divides.

“Borders are often human constructs, but the Divine instruction we have is to love our neighbour as ourselves.

“The present conflict in that part of the world can never be resolved by nations and institutions taking sides. It can only be resolved by those living within the borders of Israel and Palestine taking time to understand each other until they come to a place where they can coexist, co-prosper, and eventually cooperate.

“For that to happen, what is needed, in the immediate term, is a ceasefire, followed by massive confidence building on both sides.

“That is what the international community should aim for. Peace. It is achievable.

“I sue for peace in both Israel and Palestine, and urge that every international support should be towards deescalating the conflict, rather than escalating it,” he said on Twitter.

This shows a true leader. A man of peace. Not a biased leader who is always quick to take sides.

HealthI Survived A Snakebite? by domaya21(op): 7:38pm On May 17, 2021
My fellow NLers, good evening all.
Is it possible for one to be bitten by a snake and he survived without knowing it was a snake that bit him? Here's how it happened.

Laslaticala please help push this to front page so i can get a wider view if there's something else i need to know and do

Sometime in March this year i went on a business trip and i stayed over at a friend's place. He has a spare one room in the flat where they keep things and its also used as visitors room. He sells things and most of the cartons of things he sells are kept in the room making it fairly congested and might harbour creeping and crawling things.

I went to bed that evening exhausted from Lagos stress and i slept like a dead man. The next morning i woke up with a very strange pain on my left arm. When i looked at it, i saw strange marks. 5 strange bitemarks with puss at the tip. I ignored it, had my bathe and went to the market.

The pains continued all through my stay but i paid it no heed. It was swollen but i just chosed to ignore it. When i got back to my base the pains persisted and it even got worse so i started taking Augumenting antibiotic. 5 days later it dried up but it began to itch me so i started applying Whitefield ointment and the itching stopped. It got healed.

Today i was watching snakes in the city and the presenter showed how snakebite marks look like and it was exactly how the marks are on my arm.

Could i have survived snake bite without knowing it?

CrimeKidnap Victim Rejected Three Times By Ritualists by domaya21(op): 7:31am On May 16, 2021
An 18-year-old auxiliary nurse, Rachael David, has relived her close shave with death at a suspected ritual killers’ den in Rivers State after she was kidnapped at Okuru Junction, Port Harcourt.

David, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, regained her freedom around 5pm on Friday.

Sunday PUNCH learnt that the teenager had gone to buy something at the junction around 7am on Thursday and was returning home when a motorist signalled to her, asking for direction to Bitter Leave Junction.

She told our correspondent on Saturday that as she was describing the place to the driver, she was hypnotised and lost her senses until she arrived at an unknown destination.

David explained, “I went to get something at Okuru Junction that Thursday morning before going to work. I didn’t get what I went to buy. While I was returning home, a driver blew the car horn to call my attention and I stopped. A lady was at the back of the car. He asked me if I know any place called Bitter Leave Junction and I said yes. As I was trying to direct him, he said he couldn’t hear me clearly and told me to come closer.

“He touched me and I didn’t know if I entered the car or not. By the time I regained consciousness, I was already in an unknown place. They had blindfolded me and tied my hands. I couldn’t tell the time of the day.”

The teenager stated that the abductors took her and some other victims to a gang suspected to be ritual killers, adding that all but her were accepted.

She said on Friday morning, the kidnappers took her and another set of victims to a spot while they remained blindfolded.

David recalled, “I was still rejected. After some hours, they took me and some victims somewhere blindfolded. One man asked them why they kept bringing me and told them to return me to where they picked me as fast as possible.

“Even though I couldn’t see what was going on in that place, it appears like a ritual killers’ den. I was the only person they rejected. I was rejected thrice. While I was in captivity, new victims were brought in. The abductors put me in the car and drove off. When we got to a spot along the road, they stopped, removed the blindfold and pushed me out of the car.”

David said she managed to untie himself and later found out from passersby that she was at Rumuokoro, Port Harcourt.

“The kidnappers didn’t take away my phone so I quickly called my mum. I had fainted before they came. It was this morning (Saturday) when I woke up that I realised I am in the hospital,” she added.

David’s elder sister, Joy, told Sunday PUNCH that the family was excited to see her again, noting that the incident was reported at the Amadi Police Division.

She said, “She was unconscious when we found her. Policemen followed us to pick her up at Rumuokoro where she was abandoned. She went to buy a pad at Okuru Junction when the motorists stopped her.”

The Rivers State police spokesperson, Nnamdi Omoni, did not pick up our correspondent’s calls and had yet to reply to a text message sent to him on the incident as of press time.

Elliot2:
So sorry about your sad story. It will get better and like Job in the Bible, it will be in double. Me at 23, I almost gave up on life. I counted over 30 areas of my body that had health issues after I had an accident sometime in 2007. Stomach ulcer, eye pain, ear pain, throat, leg, lumbar pain, just name it. I was told by the doctor I will end up on wheelchair due to my lumbar spondyliosis. But today, I am still standing and most of those problems gone. Though I have lost out a lot in life, but I can tell that the future is very bright.
Jesus Christ. You are a survivor. So sorry. But I'm very sure you are an inspiration to many and for that you truly haven't lost much. A lot of people are inspired by your story. Keep living and getting better in God's strength.
