TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by domex007: 8:09pm On Jul 20, 2014
VBNET: Hi Nairalanders,

Pls I need a clarification on this:

My relative who happens to be an American citizen sent my grandma a letter to visit him. My grandma is old(around 68 years) and he has instructed me to accompany her to the states. I am married and also working and we've booked our interview date.
My question is this...
When I was filling the DS160 form, there was a place I was asked who will be funding my own trip and I put my relative's name there since he sent the invitation letter. Can one be denied a visa because of this? Or will it be proper if I fill it that I will sponsor my own trip and my grandma will be sponsored by my relative.
Thanks in advance for your prompt suggestions.
I think you have to direct this question to the visit visa trend, this is US student visa trend..
Goodluck Sir

zeezahbee: dont you understand, you ,must have both i2o before you leave nigeria.
Okay, I understand now.. Thanks

juntod: If you defer, your school must prepare another I-20 bearing the new resumption date. Arriving in the US before 30 days to that new resumption date is illegal and will definitely put you in trouble. The best bet is to defer and remain in Nigeria until you get the new updated I-20 from the old school as well as admission confirmation from the new school.
Bro, thanks for your input but I don't mean I am gonna arrive in the US 30days before resumption lemmi give a better example.
Just assuming I Applied to TSU for fall and they resume 25th aug and got my visa for TSU 2 week of July, got to the US first week of aug(which is normal) stay @ a friend's place.
Defer my admission with TSU just to buy time to apply to another school (HCC).
When TSU issue my new i-20 for spring 2015 without the knowledge that I am already in the US I can send my friend to go pick the i-20 for me and also help me in picking up the i-20 for HCC too.
Can I now go to TSU to request for transfer to HCC??
I hope you understand my question now?

zeezahbee: that depends on your stomach and your pocket. food is kinda cheap, if you can cook but i doubt since you are gonna stay off campus. if you eat outside, you can spend like $600 in a month.
No I am staying @ the school campus..
And I can't cook..
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by domex007: 9:40pm On Jul 19, 2014
zeezahbee: you must have i20 of both schools before you leave naija or the school must have accepted you already, you cant just walk in. the process is called transfer in/transfer out. its legal. all they do is transfer your record shikena
How about doing it this way?
Get admission from one particular school, get visa with the school, defer your admission with that school and enter the US with your valid visa, apply to another school and once they accept the student you can request for transfer from the initial school..
Is this method even possible and hope its legal and also safe?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by domex007: 7:13pm On Jul 19, 2014
zeezahbee: do you wanna stay on campus? if yes, then add the 8k join, its for the living expenses. living expenses might be food inclusive or not. some schools add it while some will give you list of the number of time youi want to eat their food per day, maybe 3times or just once. check you school website or probably email them but for me, i think off campus housing is cheaper and you also got privaCY
Am not bothered about housing, cos I booked for 1room apartment in the school's campus..
If I have to take additional funds for living expenses should in case the school will not provide foods for me, how much will be enough for 1 semester?
Thanks for you input.

Hello friends,
I need information and advice about this;
In my i-20 it states that my tuition is $20,950 including housing, tuition and fees, living expenses, miscellenous fees included.
Now the school requests that I bring $8k upon enrollment the remaining balance to be remitted to the 2nd semester, also in my admission letter, they said I should bring additional funds for living expenses as my living expenses is not included in the $8k.
Now my questions are;
Will the school provide meals for me after the deposit of $8k?
What exactly is the $8k for since the school won't feed me?
Do I choose campus housing or off campus?

Amefrica: To God be the glory!

This journey actually started last year October. US denied me 3 times. Oct 3, Oct 22 and Jan 3 I was placed on administrative processing then finally denied after some weeks.

Ferdimako, I really thank you. You let me develop interest in Canada, so I joined the thread and quickly caught up.

After getting vast experience I decided to apply, which I was denied on May 10, I didn't give up, I re applied a week after my app got refused. I'm glad to let y'all know my Canadian Student VISA has been approved today..

To those who we started this journey together (most now in US) I thank you all.

Special thanks to Ojap, Imperiouxx, Bigfrancis, RickyRozay, MsNas, Kofsy, Walspring, Graviton, godG, Babysimzy, Bimbola85, Gr8ever, Johnnyp, Lisadem, Fadinus infact I no fit mention yall finish..
