Why taking the burden
I realise the scammer that duped me have con many in the past and he is probably duping another gentle guy from our member right now. So, as a humanitarian, I have decided to take a time out of my busy schedule to share this information. Perhaps with time, most of our members would be saved from scammers trick.
What you should know
1. There are trusted xchangers in various business threads
2. There are thieves waiting for you to fall to their trick and do a way with your hard earned money
How to identify the trusted xchangers
1. There are people that have a great reputation in this business here. I will mention few. Knowing them is a step to avoid scammer. However, it's not 100% guarantee, but it's better than not having the list.

2. You can take the vouch of at least 5 of the trusted members in order to be able to trust an unknown fellow you wanna deal with
How to identify scam
1. A scammer don't usually write details such as number etc about themselves in their profile
2. They usually offer mouthwatery trade e.g selling bitcoin at 400/$ when others are selling at 450 or 500
3. Their mobile number if typed on google brings out information different from what they tell you
4. Their profile is usually new - few months, a year or 2 years old
5. They usually have little or no posts
6. They are always in a hurry during transaction.
7. They use different names and different accounts
8. Block your number immediately after you transfer money to them
9. They sometime come in the name of religion, calling themselves convenat child of God, commited muslim...blah..blah..blah
10. The greedy scammer engages in legit xchange for some period in order to earn your trust and burst you BIG
11. They send money from bank account different from their name. This is MITM technique beware.
12. They write on the thread false scam story so that you would let your guard down when dealing with them
13. They send customise SMS claiming a trusted member vouch for them or false bank SMS alert
14. They sometime claim they don't have nairaland account in order to protect thier moniker.
15. They sometimes claim they can not quote you because antispam bot bans their username. Don't be fooled
How to prevent yourself
1. Trade with trusted xchanger ONLY - This is not 100% guarantee though, but it's more advisable than blind dealing OR
2. Obtain as many vouch as possible before your deal OR
3. Use ESCROW incase you are trading with less trusted fellow
4. Research on identity of the fellow you want to trade with i.e don't rely 100% on my list - confirm my list from your little research

My mum retired as a Lagos State teacher a little over 2 years ago. At about 3 years to the end of her service, she was transferred twice. Another one of her colleagues was transferred thrice towards the end of his tenure, the 3rd time to a school in a far away local government and he reported there till he retired.
Op's mum has been in service long enough to realize that transfer letter can come at any time. It is clearly stated in their appointment letters. Failure to comply with the transfer which is part of the terms of employment will be treated as insubordination and could get penalized. The humiliation part I don't agree with. There is a national union of teachers and a teaching service commission she can report the assault to but I doubt if she can reverse the transfer |

This is why it is important not to allow strangers come near you to assist when carrying out transactions on an ATM. These people target elderly people and naive teenagers who look like they need assistance operating the machine. One was hovering over my mum while she was about to withdraw pretending to want to assist, she calmly told him to step aside as she's not new to operating the machine. Thank God this one was caught as a result of his greed and stupidity. I hope other crooks will suffer same fate as well. |

In Yoruba land, the bride's family hosts the wedding. The couple can do the wedding gown, accessories, hall etc.
The food which is the bulk is handed by the bride's family. I know the bride's family sponsors a large chunk of the wedding amongst the Yorubas but poverty has done a number on some people that they now shed the responsibility on the groom and his family. It wss on this same forum that a woman came to post that she begged her husband to allow her bring her sick brother to come live with them so he could get access to proper healthcare. The husband refused till the brother's health deteriorated and when he eventually agreed, it was too late the poor boy died in within days of relocating him to Lagos. All these accusations of one party not wanting to see in-laws actually swing both ways but as usual the woman is always the demon.
If you're not a slowpoke, how can a person drive a wedge between you and your family? That means the bond between you all was never strong to begin with. Admit it or not, most male relatives are very intrusive and feel like they have rights to lord over the wife. A woman that decides to stand up against their intrusion automatically wants to turn her husband against and his family. They were there for you they moulded you bla bla bla, does it give them rights to flood into your home and make the space uncomfortable for your significant other? Your wife also had people who moulded her to a person presentable enough for you to marry, should she also flood in her relatives to come live with you?
All these messy situations of couple vs in-laws can be avoided if each couple's siblings and relatives respect a couple's space and stay in their own homes. |

All these my kitchen, my pot women sha. How do you do it, policing who goes into your kitchen and how much food they ate? I no fit o. When my SILs used to come spend time with us before they married, they were free to go into the kitchen to prepare or dish whatever they liked. Saved lazy me multiple trips to the kitchen  This is one of the cases where I'd like from the other side. I have a feeling this young man may not be as awful as she's portraying him. Anybody living in your home should be made as comfortable as possible expect you can't afford it. Madam Iwantpeace, all the issues you listed here are non-issue and can be resolved amicably without leading to rifts or grudges. Just have a dialogue with him maturedly. Set the boundaries without sounding condescending or dictatorial. Some of these things you are complaining over, he may not even see the wrong in them until you point it out to him.
