I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone here, but I find it very nauseating that some people are telling him to apologize to his dad and they are hypocritically ignoring the fact that the mother also should be apologized to. Was the boy's approach wrong ?. Big Yes . Does the father deserve an apology ? On the condition that he(the father) apologizes to the mum and promises to never repeat it again. Any man who raises his hands to hit his wife, even if its just a "little" slap, doesn't deserve respect from anyone, especially his children. And if you think such children would respect you, you are wrong. There is a very big difference between respecting someone out of honour and "respecting" someone out of fear. If you are man and you are reading this, and you beat your wife, trust me you push your kids away from you gradually every single time you do this; spiritually, physically and emotionally. |
Righteousness89:Hitting him with the hammer was wrong, yes ? Separating them ? Be practical and realistic with your advice Sir . If you read well, he said he threatened him. That was an attempt to separate them. If you have not witnessed domestic violence before, you would not understand what it feels like for the kids, most times they freeze in disbelief and shock.. When it becomes constant, some just get numb to it, others react !. You have no idea the psychological damage it causes. For the guy to stand up to his dad, it would have taken a lot of courage, scratch that, it wasn't just courage but courage + love + defense. No one wants to sit and watch his/her mother beaten to death. Some men don't have sense. You don't need to beat a woman to establish your authority, there are more effective ways, she would be literally crumbling at your feet in submission. Men who are violent are the actual weaklings, their physical strength is all they rely on. |
![]() If he calls police, call your own too ![]() As my oga above has said contact the agencies that handle domestic violence. If the victim is in Lagos : https://twitter.com/dsvrt (Domestic&Sexual Violence Response Team) You could also tag segalink on twitter |

Oluromantic: ![]() He was being sarcastic and truthful at the same time ![]() What he was trying to say is , if breast feeding a child to boost the immune system is called "spoiling", then yes the mother inlaw's sister is right and she should continue spoiling her child. So its good to spoil her child, its a good thing for the child . ![]() |
I am sorry if I am intruding, but is it really necessary you stay there ? Where is your husband ?. Dear Nigerian women, you don't necessarily need an older woman around you to "teach" you and "help" you. You have 9 months to prepare for your child, learn all you need to learn in that 9 months and take care of your child on your own . Nobody has the right to dictate what you do with your child, not even your own mother. You handed over the authority to the woman, because you chose to be at her mercy. |
thorpido:Even she as the sister is not obligated to contribute to her brother's wedding. She can if she wants to, but she should not be bullied and emotionally blackmailed into doing it. This is one of the things I hate most about a lot of Nigerian families. They don't care about your financial status or burdens, they like bullying their family members into making contributions without caring how it affects them, just because they share the same blood. The audacity with which they gave a price tag sef. If they really needed help they could have at least said something like "anything you can help with", they just said 120k, like he sent them message or he is going to share the new wife with the brother. |
![]() The way people think sef, and their disgusting entitlement mentality Coming from a woman who doesn't work . So if he pays the 120k, who would fend for the home ? 120k is almost his salary for 2 months . Instead of her to be fighting for him to save and be prudent to better their lives, she is making unreasonable demands. Your bride price list alone took about 8-9 months of his salary, not to talk of the other wedding expenses. The oga is still probably paying debt from the wedding. No matter what you do folks, never marry someone who has the mentality of a child !!! Never marry into a family that always feel entitled , even if you do, make sure your spouse doesn't think like them. I detest things like this
