Jokes EtcWhy Are Most Comedians In Nigeria From Edo/Delta? by Donbrig(op): 8:28pm On May 16, 2020
For over two decades, I have personally observed that majority of our big comedians in Nigeria are either from Edo or Delta state. Is there anything about Edo/Delta indigines that makes them more funny, full of life and be very successful in comics?

This gigantic project cost 1 billion naira, just imagine if FG had executed same project or awarded it out.. 10billion naira would have been manageable to do such project. I weep for Nigeria.

It is not about praying for hour or days, but praying with a sincere heart. Even if you pray for just 30seconds, no problem, but ensure you pray regularly with an open and sincere heart.

You have all spoken well. I believe we are underestimating some good microfinance banks in Nigeria. The way many of these traditional banks or deposit money banks are now making shakara for customers, it is only a matter of time before mfb will take over most of their big customers. I can't just understand why a bank would lend out depositors money to investors for a rate of over 20% and give depositors a mere 2% for their money. I am beginning to detest every act of their greedy activities in Nigeria. They are so happy tbill rates are down and doesn't even want it to go up again. The way things are going, I seriously doubt if tbill rates will go up in the next 2yrs, certainly not when investors are still oversubscribing, in spite of the low rates.

Thank you sir, I have some details about them already. I hope I can negotiate rates with them if I choose Term depost savings?

@fineguy11, I shall be opening an account with LAPO in their head office in March/April. I intend to transfer about 50m into that account, pls apart from fixed deposit, what other investment options are open for customers? I am not in Nigeria at the moment, but I should be in Benin by next month.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Donbrig: 5:35pm On Feb 20, 2020
Lapo rates are not bad. Can they also do treasury bills on your behalf like other traditional banks? I am also considering opening an account with them, LAPO head office is very close to my house in Dawson Road Benin City.

@aremso, I hail you sir, I have learnt a lot from you posts in this forum. I was not directly referring to you but some foreign elements who wants naira to be devalued for their selfish interest. Nigerians are still counting their losses from the last devaluation. Well, lets wait and see what happens, but I am certain Emefiele and his team definitely knows how to get over this issue of devaluation in due time.
aremso:
oga am not spreading fake news, this is public forum where info are shared. You either pick or leave the info shared govt that is ready to improve the lots of FPIs at the expense of her citizen, any how it is all i know if they want to devalue there is nothing anyone can do about it. I dont support devaluation as it will make life tough for an ordinary citizen but as much as we rely on crude alone and our fx reserve keeps going down, we can only postpone the evi day. Dangote is relocating his office to US basis currency devaluation and me wt my tashere money should be sleeping?Even with devaluation people will still make more monies so how do i benefit is my own headache now
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Donbrig:
Pls lets stop speculating fake news, analysts or experts are not in charge of our economy, Emefiele and his CBN teams are in charge, and they have stated it severally that there won't be any need for naira devaluation if our reserve is not below $30b. Lets stop helping those elements who doesn't wish Nigeria well to achieve their greedy aims.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has again ruled out the possibility of a naira devaluation, amidst the dwindling level of the country’s foreign reserves.
He said the Bank would rather continue to sustain existing foreign exchange management and stability currently evident in the market.
Very good that CBN had been able to put the issue of devaluation to rest. The way people were rushing to convert naira to dollar would have been just as terrible as naira devaluation. CBN should encourage local investments, only local investors can secure our economy and future. Foreign investors can transfer all their investments to their home country within minutes, because they are not investing in the real sectors like Nigerians, but in money market.

tb rate shall improve ,2 trillion loan out by banks ,2 trillion to be acess from pension funds , crr increases to 27 percent , depreciation of naira and raise in inflation...
I am also very optimistic that tbill rates will start getting better as from February, but CBN must do everything to avoid devaluation, I trust Buhari won't subscribe to that easily this time. Even if we want to devalue Naira, it should not be more than 5% devaluation, anything more than that will plunge Nigerians into more hardship.

Everyone's case is different, what I was told is that any payment over 10 k will be flagged automatically on their system.

Whether they contact you or not will be based on certain criteria, for instance if you send a lot over a very short period.

They can ask for compliance paperwork or require you to migrate your account into a business one depending on the circumstances.or flag the tax man.

Anyway better to be careful, d feds are watching.
This is very very true. Don't send more than 10k dollars or Euro at a goal. They will beam their red light on you.. Always send it instrumentally and take your time in sending it. Once you send over 10k dollars or Euro, you are already classified as a money launderer.

You are right, I think Nigerians should unite and wield their regional powers to their own advantage. But we must not ignore the smart role France is trying to play, West Africa is extremely important to French economy and survival.

Nigeria will not be a party to the current Eco as packaged by France on behalf of Francophone countries in West Africa.

Francophone countries changed their currency CFA to Eco without ratification and approval by all ECOWAS member nation.

Nigeria which is responsible for more than 60% of the trade in West Africa was not carried along. Togo is the only nation that has satisfied the requirements for the common currency.

France want to takeover Eco, through the back door and Nigeria will not be a party to this.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Donbrig: 2:47pm On Jan 02, 2020
The new West Africa Currency (ECO), is one area we should also look into, whatever decision FG takes will affect us all one way or another. Now that all the CFA countries have finally subscribed to ECO, CBN should do everything to counter the influence of France on the future currency. Nigeria should embrace ECO, because having other Ecowas countries use ECO without Nigeria will send Naira into automatic extinction. Naira should not be allowed to die automatic death by pressure from ECO, as this will cost us more as the economic giant of Africa. Only Togo has all the necessary requirements to embrace ECO. Weeks and months to come, Nigeria should use every trick in the book to boost our national reserve and ensure a stabilized naira before embracing ECO, this will give Nigeria more advantages with ECO.

Althoug Nigeria will no longer have monetary powers to dictate the exchange rate and stability of ECO, but Nigeria will definitely have lots of other advantages with the new West African currency, but firstly, we have to do our economic homework before making any decision about ECO.

Happy new year everyone. Low tbill rate is really making us all to think outside the box, good one. Even if tbills returns with high rates tomorrow, we must never fail to diversify our portfolio, there are many areas one could invest outside tbills, but we seem to think less about other investment opportunities once we feel too comfortable with tbills.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Donbrig:
We mustn't blame foreign investors for taking advantage of our investment portals created for them by our own system. National Pension Commission ruined tbills for us all, you cannot expect CBN to remain silent when PenCom has over 6trillions in Tbills and others.. Money PenCom could have invested in our economy, at least about 60% of it. Not until PenCom pull out their funds and invest into the real sector, rates for tbills might remain low for a very long time.

Moody, IMF, Worldbank and the rest of them don't have the best interest of Africans at heart. Lets be very careful on how we digest news from these agents of doom about our economy. They want us to play by the rules while western countries are breaking every rule in the book for their own advantages. They want us to adjust our economy or do things in a way that will put them in advantage and have economic supremacy over us. Moody, IMF and other international financial organizations were mainly set up to regulate and control the economy of the developing countries. Our financial and economic experts and CBN are not foolish, they know what they are doing. China became a greater nation by ignoring all these useless policies and ratings from western financial organizations like IMF or Moody. Just imagine how doomed China would had been if China had followed all the policies these western organizations wanted them to follow. Lets unite and build a better and prosperous Nigeria. Treasury bills might be low for now or things might look difficult at the moment, but we will definitely overcome all our challenges and rise again.

We speculate a lot in Nigeria. My people calm down, no cause for alarm at all. Naira won't be devalued again. CBN is facing their own challenges like every other monetary bodies in other countries. In 2020, FG must put an end to oil subsidy, and CBN must stop forex, Nigerians must help to boost our economy and naira by patronizing local products. Dollar has more challenges than naira on the global stage. Russia and China have completed plans to do without dollars in all transactions and EU have already concluded plans to challenge the unfair advantage dollar is having across the globe by initiating other form of payments without the dollar. In reality, dollar is bleeding more than naira, mainly Nigerians are still overrating the dollar.
CareerRe: Retirement In Nigeria: How Much Does One Need To Have? by Donbrig(op): 5:16pm On Nov 09, 2019

We all know times are hard in Nigeria, but many Nigerians are still retiring after a successful career. Many Nigerians are still doing well, even though poverty is overrated in Nigeria.

Journalism is becoming something else in Nigeria. Wait abeg, why would Punch publish such a news without the awareness of CBN or their staffs? I think CBN should enlighten the public on this perceived news immediatley and FG should start withdrawing the license of some news outlets like Punch.
IamR:
I just spoke with a friend in charge of treasury bills in one of the regional head office. He said the news in punch newspaper also came as a rumour to them because they have not received any instruction to that effect from their headquarters in Lagos or from CBN.

He promised to keep me abreast of any new development in individuals' participation in treasury bills investment.

Nylon business is a no go area, the govt is truly making plans to start a harsh campaign against that business because of the environmental harzard plastics normally cause, it takes hundred of years for a plastic waste to decay and Nigeria is yet to have good system for recycling plastics or introduce a more environmental friendly plastics to Nigerians, like they have in Europe or America. My family has a nylon business and we have received several letters from different govt agencies.
niyoni:
Thanks for the insight. Do you think the nylon business has a future in Nigeria? I got some unverified information that the federal legislators (abi legit-looters grin) are in the process of passing laws against the use of nylon in Nigeria.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Donbrig:
God bless you all for your inputs so far. For those of you who argued that treasury bill is far better than real estate, you can now see that treasury bill is dwindling. The idea is to diversify into other sector of the economy. CBN is frustrating banks from investing in t-bills, and banks will unleash same frustrations on customers willing to buy tbills. As from 2020, it seems only those with 50m and above can invest in tbills, nothing last forever. Time to start thinking outside the box, we have had it good enough with tbills, time to invest in the real sector of the economy.

10m naira is a lot of money to a lot of people all over the world. I often live in Oakland California and Munich Germany and Lagos Nigeria. I must confess that every country has its advantages and disadvantages. But Nigeria remains one of the easiest and best countries to make lots of money if you have 10m with sense. You have more leverages in Nigeria. Europe and America are often overrated.
