Lots of anger about the new FG increment in VAT, would that also affect t-bills investors? Treasury bill is known to be tax free, although it is not completely tax free, like custodian fee and others we always pay after a successful transaction. |
Pls when is the next date for tbills primary market? |
DInkMan:Kudos.. Some people could be very discouraging with their messages about Nigeria. They wouldn't even think that lots of foreign investors are monitoring what we say and how much hopes we have in our country naija. We musn't be too quick to write our currency or economy off. Strong currency doesn't always reflect strong economy, just as we have seen in some Asian countries with weaker currency than Naira but have a better economy than Nigeria. The main problem in Nigeria is that we are not producing enough goods in the country, massive importation of goods, even foods, are a big setback to everything in Nigeria. |
I am really disappointed with zenithbank, I entered for 364days, but I was treated for 182days, why is this so? |
[quote author=olujaidi post=82134688]A fee a brokerage or other financial institution charges for safekeeping services. Safekeeping or custody is a service in which the brokerage or financial institution holds securities on behalf of the client, which reduces the risk of the client losing his/her assets. There was a CBN circular a few years ago mandating banks to transfer client investments to custodians eg FBN Custodians, Zenith Custodians etc. It was displayed in banking halls all over the country. This means that your investments are no longer domiciled with the bank but with the Custodian. It's an additional layer of risk management Your bank is simply an agent facilitating investment, divestment and settlement Thanks for the explanation, but I think all these big big English makes it more easier for financial institutions to deceive ignorant costumers. |

Nigsrdumb:Na waoo, in a country where we are still fighting to have ordinary 30k as minimum wage, having 100m makes you a rich man, and you could have that money working for you all the days of your life inside Nigeria. |
tolajay:Pls, I intend to invest about 14m for next week's tbills, is it better to go for short or long term? Because some are saying rate might increase in few weeks/months to come. |
Ok, thanks bro, I appreciate your swift responses, my blood pressure is normal again. ahiboilandgas: |
What kind of challenges could I face getting back my money, could you pls expanciate on your yes? ahiboilandgas: |
Good day folks, I have two separate t-bills that will mature on same day this week with same bank. I have misplaced my certificate for the transaction. How would they pay me back my money now that I no longer hold the certificate for transactions? Would I face any complications in getting back my money from my bank? |
Just2endowed2:Trying to ask her for a date might soften her rigid mind. |
Good day fellow investors. It seems West Africa is really serious about rolling out a regional currency from January 2020, I thought they have been joking Ohhhh. How is this new currency (ECO) going to affect treasury bills and other investments in Nigeria? Gurus in the house should educate us on this. |
Bravedude112:Yes, if your interest from t-bills in a year is within the range of 50m and above, you are indeed classified as a wealthy Nigerian. With this kind of interest, compounded for a couple of few years, you could join the billionaires club with bliss. |
Jobac:You are very correct. But that is a personal problem if you earn 1m a month and still poor, general statistics still rate such persons as rich in Nigeria. Just like people who won big in lotteries, but many don't have a dime today, the lottery agents still see them as either rich or wealthy, how careless they spend or save their money doesn't concern lottery agents or when taking general statistics. |
Bravedude112:You are classified as rich in Nigeria if you earn up to 1m naira per month, either as salary or as passive income. You are classified as wealthy if you earn up to 50m a year as passive income. |
Nnamz:You didn't get the content of my message. There is a big difference btw spiritualism and religion. I know religion had done a collateral damage to the psyche of most Nigerians. Religion is politics. We all need a sound spiritual life to excel in life, the spiritual controls the pysical. Praying fervently is the easiest and surest way to build a spiritual life and not being religious like Nigerians. @Nnamz, How smart would you be if a jealous friend or family member should secretly take your name to a native doctor or spiritual realm for your elimination? How smart would you be if after a slight headache and your doctor confirmed that you have cancer and few more months/years to live. Would you still be concerned about the next date for t-bill auction? Always build your spiritual life with prayers as you progress in life, because many are not happy with the level of success you have attained. Even King Solomon with all his God given wisdom had enemies and always prayed for a spiritual strength. |
Nice input from all the gurus in the house. It is important to save money as much as you can and guide your money jealously. Also remember to enjoy life as you work hard for your money, but don't live extravagantly or buy things you don't need or things you can do without. And also try to be greedy a bit when trying to get to the top of the ladder, greediness is a very important factor if you want to become rich or wealthy in life. Most wealthy people all over the world are extremely greedy but become generous after making wealth. But be generous and help those that truly needs it once you become rich, most of the money you will be using to help others could be interest from your capital. Capital is meant to be inherited by our children when we join our ancestors, (most wealthy people spend only the interest on their capital) that's why it is critically important to start teaching our children the rules of money at an early age. Remember to also build your spiritual life as strong as possible, as you become more successful in life, many friends and family members will hate you with passion and secretly wish for your downfall due to envy. Building a strong spiritual life is one way you can overcome the hates and challenges that comes with wealth and influence. The Hustling Continues, God Bless YOu All. |
You guys should not write off our economy or naira yet. Lot of things will start happening as from 2020. You guys should be extremely careful with the buying of dollars. The importation of refined oil from overseas, causing huge demand for dollar is the biggest problem our naira and economy is having... Buhari will certainly put a ban on PMS anytime as from next year, and Dangote refinary will pick up with full effect, naira will experience unprecedented strength for the first time in decades. Most Domiciliary account holders will be compelled to maintain local account in naira. High interest rates on t-bills might not be experienced anytime soon, rates might continue to reduce as our economy gets stronger and stronger with CBN encouraging more foods and goods to be produced locally, that's why CBN granted a whopping sum of 30billion naira to our local palm oil producers. Nigerian oil marketers are already investing in our local sub refinaries in different states, because they have already seen the hand writing on the wall. In couple of months from now, business will no longer be as usual in Nigeria. God bless Nigeria. |
Since March 2019, investors are often advised to bid short term in primary market, 91 or 182 days in t-bills. CBN is using short term to offset our huge local debt, a very brilliant strategy from Emefiele. A bank manager once told me that most 364 days bid in t-bills in 2019 won't be successful, but hopefully things might improve in 2020. |
I thank you all immensely for taking your precious time to educate us in business. You guys should also remember to secure your health by buying a very good health insurance. Health issues is a very big factor that could ruin all your life savings and investments in a short period of time. It is unfortunate that Nigeria doesn't have a good health insurance that could be trusted in difficult times. I advice those who can afford good health insurance abroad to do so, and Germany is one of the best and cheapest place to get affordable health insurance coverage for you and your family. |
Maspice:You guys should stop asking about liquidation of t-bills before maturity. It is always complicated to liquidate t-bills in all the banks, investors are always advised to invest short term duration or the funds they can afford to invest and wait till maturity. You are only giving your bank a clear priviledge to unfairly profit from you if you decide to liquidate your t-bills before maturity. |
This is very very sad. And to think that Dangote and his crew will always have their way at the end of the day makes everything worse and terrible. Many Dangote drivers don't even rest from work and drive with impunity. Nigeria is a dead end at the moment. |
As a Christian, I have always admired with great passion the way Yoruba Muslims are tolerant with their religious beliefs, compared to other Muslims, particularly in the north. And I keep wondering why? Are Yoruba Muslims reading another version of the Quran or they differently understood Islam and its teachings? |
Desanta:Yeah, banks lose more than customers if their bids should fail, because banks only invest about 30/40% of their customers funds, I mean customers like you and me who entered for t-bills in the primary market, while about 60/70% is their own funds, ordinary depositors funds or funds in ordinary savings, and don't forget banks have billions of funds in ordinary deposit or savings, yielding about 2-6%. And they also lose money from custodian fees or other charges they normally charge every customer if their bid scale through. |
Happy Easter my fellow investors. You guys should understand that banks don't compete with rates in treasury bills, the primary aim of every bank is to have their bidding rate scale through. And the differences between bank rates are not even above 1%. Banks always lose more money than their customers if their bidding rate should fail. |
Pls what are your reasons? We have so many Zenith Bank customers here. Zenith is one of the best banks for wealthy customers, if you have huge sum of money, Zenith is the best choice.... I have over 100m with them in different investment channels and I am growing rapidly. But Zenith Bank is not too good for starters or someone trying to build up his/her finance, I know they sometimes discriminate or undermine poor customers, that's one thing I don't like about them as well. Agbaletu: |
Pascal2016:Pls, lets educate us correctly. Virtually all the banks often deduct the amount you intend to invest few days to the D-day. This is so because some customers in need of urgent money will still go and withdraw the money they have already entered for t-bill investment. |
aremso:You must have invested a huge sum of money for you have paid up to 10k as VAT. It always depends on the amount you are investing, about 1% of total invested amount. |
bendo75:Well spoken with maturity. We cannot always generalize banks to be incompetent because of bad experiences with a certain branch or account officer. |
gmacnoms:Na waooo, greeting good morning around 4pm shows how illegitimate this Shalom Mfb might be. Abeg make una pity Nigerians nowww, people are suffering enough already, trying to swindle their peanuts is worse than murder. |
Bluecollarguy:Go to Zenithbank website and enter their customer service 24/7 online chat, ask your question on how best to open a diaspora account, they will guide you accordingly. Very easy and secured. |
