PoliticsRe: God Helped Me To Defeat Amaechi - Jang by DonCarlos1(m): 5:25am On May 27, 2013
The type of disrespect and outright insult God receives from Nigerians is alarming. And to believe people sat down there and listened to this blasphemy is equally outrageous, that tells a lot on the psyche of the people handling the Plateau crisis.

FamilyRe: My Experience With Ritualists/kidnappers At Lekki This Morning by DonCarlos1(m): 5:55am On Apr 19, 2013
A friend of mine once fell for this kind of trick and came to me to borrow some money. First he wanted a 100k when I wanted to know what for, he said ok, just gi me 50k. The urgency in his voice and the secrecy about the purpose of the money told me something was wrong. I asked him to bend over a little, he did and I wozzed (slapped) him. After the initial shock he asked me what happened to him, then he had come back to his senses.
PoliticsRe: Should I Return To Nigeria? by DonCarlos1(m): 7:15pm On Apr 04, 2013
That's because expatriates get more connections and rights more than Nigerians in Nigeria.
That is exactly what we are made to believe so we can run away for them to occupy and that I refuse to accept. What connections? I don't need no connection to make it. All I need are the skills and the intelligence to apply such skills. I have come to understand these expartriates will fear and respect you if you know your onions. But if you give them the impression they are superior, they will live it. So, if we continue with the negative mindset and allude superiority to the expats, a day will come when people who control our economy will dictate who rules this nation.
PoliticsRe: Should I Return To Nigeria? by DonCarlos1(m): 6:04pm On Apr 04, 2013
My guy, some years ago I made up mu mind the hit the exodus flight out of this country but as I was rushing to the airport, the Chinese, Indians, Lebanese, Koreans were rushing in from the airport with a smile. Meanwhile, the resident Americans and Europeans were sitting pretty, and refusing to return to their beautiful countries even when their services were no longer needed. A particular British man cried the day immigration people caught up with him in Lagos and told him his papers are expired and he's got to be repartriated. Then I looked back and returned home to discover what it was I have missed all these while and I never regretted my decision to stay back. Kidnappers, armed robbers no fit pursue me from wetin I don taste.
Nairaland GeneralRe: How Has Nairaland Added Value To Your Life? by DonCarlos1(m): 5:31pm On Jan 18, 2013
1. I learnt the Nigerian youth has learnt nothing from the past. Full of personal mission, does not believe in his country, national discourses are viewed with highly-tainted ethnic and religious prisms.

2. I have learnt that the age-long battle of the sexes is on-going.

@VIneyardfarms,I honestly don't know the year off-hand except I look into the papers. This is the long chassis type for which you might decide to re-adjust the seats to carry the maximum of 18 passengers.
AutosRe: SOLD! SOLD!! Neat T4 Transporter For Sale At N380,000 by DonCarlos1(op): 9:41pm On Oct 24, 2012
SOrry guys. @Sunky-show, you only have to change the front tyre I talked about. A good toks is around 6-8K while a brand new tyre is in the range of 12-18k depending on quality. You may decide to change the shaft as I've heard some noise from one of the front shafts. That aside and servicing, nothing more to change.

That used to be my church when I was in Bauchi. Unfortunately someone I know lost his wife in the blast. Bauchi used to be a lovely and quiet place to live in back in the days until April 1991......May the souls of those who lost their lives today rest in peace.

PoliticsRe: Bakassi Youths Vow To Surpass Boko-Haram by DonCarlos1(m): 7:39am On Sep 20, 2012
I really do sympathise with my brothers and sisters from Bakassi. To wake up one morning to hear u've been donated to another country. A country you don't understand its' system of administration and where you can aspire to nothing. It is indeed a difficult situation and nobody seem to care, they are only a prize in the game of international politics. The only interest is the oil and what will happen to the people in the course of the oil extraction can better be imagined. The people are entirely on their own and at the mercy of the conquering nation and oil companies.
To the people of Bakassi, I wish you well and best of luck

CareerRe: Is It Wrong To Help Your Boss With His Or Her Bag? by DonCarlos1(m): 4:26pm On Sep 13, 2012
It is not a good practise in a corporate environment. In our village settings, our culture may demand but please not in a corporate setting, it paints u as a bootlicker and I personally do not trust one who is eager to carry the boss's bag.

IslamRe: "Ramadan Has Crippled Business,” Prostitutes Lament by DonCarlos1(m): 4:43pm On Jul 31, 2012
At least we know one thing for sure. . .Muslims aren't hypocrites. Do really do abstain during the fasting period.

By the way, these ashawos or their pimps don't have a good business sense oh. It's not like the Fasting period comes unexpectedly, so why didn't they make other provisions? They should have started an aggressive advertising campaign to attract new clients from churches and babalawo centers.

This would be a good time for a two for one price slash for their Christian Clients- Pay for one Pro get the other for free or Pay for one Pro and bring your Brother/Pastor/Choir Master along.

They should also included some nice package, instead of the usual mattress on the floor. . .they should use bed sheets.

It's all about knowing your Business Environment.
Shuo! So na for floor dem dey keep mattress. Na wa o!
Nairaland GeneralLiving With A Dying Mother Tongue by DonCarlos1(op): 4:33pm On Jul 27, 2012
I speak two major Nigerian languages fluently but I still regret not adding the third one to my repertoire. I had a friend who fluently speaks five Nigerian languages, Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba, Efik and Igala. I respect the guy for this but that is not the essence of this piece.
I visited a family recently and in the course of our discussion, I realised their 10 year old son does not understand our native dialect and kept asking me to translate for him, the mum laughed and proudly announced the boy does not understand the language, he understands and speaks only English. As if that was not enough big question on parentage, she announced that her 15 or 16 years old daughter can understand the language but cannot speak, no remorse. Now this family has never stepped out of the shores of this country but the young lady speaks the so-called English language with American accent. Out of curiosity I asked her native name and what came out from her has a totally different meaning from what the name was supposed to be, because of bad pronunciation of her own name.
I have seen Germans, Italians, Indians, French, Arabs who have lived in Nigeria for decades and they never changed the way they speak, they don’t pretend to know English more than the English, they have no apologies for speaking heavily accented English. I have an Italian friend who has lived and worked in Nigeria for over 8 years and whenever we get talking, his hands does 40% of the talk and his mother-tongue does 20% because he uses this to complete sentences he started in halting, heavily accented English, who care, bottom line, he communicates. In this regard I doff my filanga for my Hausa brethren; they maintain superiority of the mother-tongue.
Question is, why are we deliberately killing our languages? Ever wonder the rate at which we, especially our ladies flaunt the American accent, is there a prize attached to it? What message are we passing to these oyinbos whom we try to imitate? Do we earn their respect by alluding to their superiority? Are we that inferior that we have lost our self-worth and willingly succumbed to cultural slavery? Why do parents who, at their town meetings, spice their mother-tongue with native proverbs now turn around to encourage their children to dump the only thing that gave them their identity? My Naija people, sey na like this we go dey stay? Are we not living a lie?

RomanceRe: My Ex-Boyfriend Wants Us To Meet & I Can't Resist Him by DonCarlos1(m): 1:42pm On Jul 03, 2012
No matter how hungry u might be, never succumb to sex on ur first meet, it devalues a woman's worth.
After 2+ years, u surely have a lot to talk about and watch his eyes as u talk, men are very poor at lying with their eyes. Why did he not call all these years, if he goes on 2, what if u're in a relationship already.
Whatever he comes up with, take it home to digest before making a decision. Never show a man u are in a hurry to accept his proposal, massage ur self-esteem, u're a lady damn it, let him work not walk his way into ur heart.
