Segedinho:Your head dey there!!! There is no country on this planet that doesn't have corrupt elements and entities within it, what minimizes the level of their corruption to low levels is the presence of strong institutions that serves as a deterrence to them. Strong institutions help in placing a checkmate on the corrupt politicians. Brazil, south Korea, Argentina, Japan, Singapore etc are examples of countries that has had several of it's immediate past presidents sent to jail on account of corrupt practices. If a politician knew that his assets and everyone else's were public knowledge and very traceable with his tax records public, they would be hesitant to waste public funds anyhow. If efcc were functioning as designed, several presidents, judges, senators and governors will be in jail not just used as a coercion or political witch-hunting tool. But the executive arm of government is responsible for efcc functioning effectively. A president with a WILL to strengthen our institutions, either by executive orders or legislation will have the support of the masses. He just has to have effective communication with the citizens. |
Africa really needs to evolve quickly.. So sad seeing this news on the front page. It's very saddening. https://www.nairaland.com/7513005/kenyan-gayright-activist-chiloba-killed#119779097 |
Segedinho:We have suffered!! I just hope Nigerians are motivated enough to seize this chance and take back their country.. Anything wey make tinubu enter there, we go suffer times 10. ![]() |
This is unfortunate. Very unfortunate. Hopefully Africa evolves faster, sooner rather than later. If any part of you thinks that this human being deserves to die because he does something you don't like, know that that means you too deserves to die because you're most likely doing what someone else doesn't like. You taking alcohol is a sin to many people. You talking to the opposite sex romantically is a sin that deserves death to other people. If we made rules based on what we don't like, then we subject our own lives to the whims and caprices of others. Live and let live where there is no harm. |
I love what I'm really seeing from the educated Yorubas and the Yoruba elite. Afe babalola, pa ayo Adebanjo, president Obasanjo, dele farotimi, babatunde gbadamosi etc. All these men have essentially ensured that the educated elite move beyond tribal sentiments and it's joyful to behold. It gladdens the heart. Just see this new voter's post here. kimjongJezebel: |
Theflint1:Soo happy to hear this! Much love to you bro. May God grant us our heart desires. If this election is free and fair, Obi wins it hands down. It becomes obvious by 12 noon that day. |
CuteNbad:As in!! even before the elections, you can see the state candidates boldly campaigning with the picture of another presidential candidate from a different party. What now happens when he wins? |
And talking about NASS not supporting an Obi presidency, I mean you look all around the south and you see the south littered with candidate of other parties proudly using obi's picture side by side with theirs. What does that tell you? I mean, you have candidates of APC in imo state using obi's picture to campaign on billboards, same thing with some PDP candidates in Port Harcourt and calabar. So if these candidates do win their seats now, does that not signal that irrespective of parties they already know who they are working with?? I keep telling you folks that the significance and implications of an Obi presidency is too massive to be rationalized. That victory changes the entire political space in Nigeria. Especially for one like ours where there are no clear ideological divides amongst the political parties. |
OasisX:But that's the thing, you really cannot claim to love this country and advocate for this tinubu to be it's leader. It's almost nihilistic to advocate for a tinubu presidency upon Nigeria after experiencing yaradua and buhari. Are we really to forego the genuine health concerns?? Are we to forget that we need a mobile and agile leader that will be constantly moving from place to place attending administrative functions and being mentally alert to constantly evolving situations. Do you sincerely believe that this tinubu is up for that task? You don't have to ask Nigerians to imagine an immobile president, we've witnessed it twice!! Secondly, are we really expected to forego the issue of character?? Do you really believe that ohr president should be a person of no good moral standing? A person whose early years of life is completely shrouded in mystery and secrecy? We don't know where this man grew up, we don't know the environment he grew up in? We don't know if he was a good person in his early youth or if he was a killer on the streets like his current boys agabka and mc oluomo. What we do know is that he was involved in the deadly narcotics trade and has a criminal record for a deeply immoral cause. Do you really expect Nigerians to vote in a completely deeply immoral character with heavy baggages as our president when there are better options? Then talking about surrounding forces around him, can you tell us the new crop of people around him to expect if not these same class of failures. Are you saying that fashola, elrufai, fayemi, yahaya and the rest of this current failed class of leadership will not be the makeup of his cabinet seeing as they would be the ones that have to work to put him in? Again brother, you really can't claim to love Nigeria and advocate for a tinubu presidency. It's just not logical. |
OasisX:Ohh common, just gullible folks would fall for your attempt to gaslight and romanticize the APC. I've read all your posts this morning combined with larride and gloriousgola and all I'm seeing is an attempt to romanticize and rationalize the epic failures of the APC as a party and then attempt to gaslight folks into favorably looking at the APC again. Well, not working my dear.. There is no rational human being that looks at the party of the broom and thinks, they tried their best. No nigha, THEY FAILED! AND THEY FAILED EPICLY! MONUMENTALLY! GIGANTICLY! APC FAILED!!! NEVER AGAIN! |
OasisX:You keep presenting the manifesto of APC despite them proving that they themselves deem it worthless. When it's been proven that part of it was even plagiarized word for word from an internet source. The last APC manifesto that decieved millions of Nigerians, APC talked about restructuring, only for it's current VP candidate shettima to be telling Nigerians later, "to hell with restructuring". So if you successfully decieve Nigerians again this time and we later ask tinubu about this manifesto and he tells us that "he likes to be polite but we should shurrup our mouths" what do we do? |
Oasis, an interesting frontpage thread, don't you think? ![]() https://www.nairaland.com/7512120/see-crowd-came-out-jonathan#119760095

BlueRayDick:Mentioning doyin is quite disingenuous because doyin prior to now has been a very light weight politician. Whatever sin's doyin has ever committed previously pales in significance to what his mates have done or are doing. Add to the fact that he has been used as a sacrificial lamb already is a very good omen if you ask me. If at this early stage, a prominent member of the campaign is booted out as an example to the rest, well it potrays a good omen ahead. And it's almost like I need to always re-echo this. Yes, you will not find any saint in politics, but what you have is the best of the rest. Tinubu and atiku can't even open their mouths to campaign on anti-corruption. That's already a heavy red flag because the 2 of them are mired in heavy corruption antecedents unlike Obi. This mindset of constantly equating the 3 really has to stop. Only obi's ticket represents the very best of the masses intentions. |
FBS:I'm happy to see you contribute here, didn't know you were also interested in the politics of the country. Have you made your choices for next month? |
BlueRayDick:I'm sorry bro, I don't just like when I see people complain and complain of a situation without proferring what they believe is a solution. Constantly diagnosing a problem without ever offering a solution is kind of an extreme negative mindset for me. For example, you are saying that democracy doesn't work in Africa whereas what you're actually seeing in those parts is autocracy. And you are not offering up a solution or an alternative to the problem. A healthy democracy offers up a pathway for constant leadership change. Eg, enough Kwara state indigenes are tired of the saraki dynasty, well here comes a new alternive, enough edolites are tired of oshiomole, well here comes obaseki, enough abians are tired of orji family, here comes Alex otti. That's the beauty of democracy, the power of the masses to choose their own leaders. Tell me if theocracy, autocracy or monarchy offers this. |
I thoroughly distaste the constant need to engage in a doom-fest. Ohh, Nigeria is dead and buried no matter what happens. For fvcks sake, that's a terrible bloody lie, it's a lie you tell yourself as a cheap excuse not to do something about it. To make an attempt to change things In that lie, you want to tell yourself that labor party winning will have the same effect as APC or PDP winning. Like you really believe, that labor party winning the presidency next month will not be a statement alone that ignites massive changes across the entire leadership structure. As it stands today, Obi doesn't have a governor giving him corrupt state funds and expecting favors in return, God knows I would certainly prefer a president without strings attached to him by unknown forces selecting the cabinet than either an atiku or a tinubu cabinet. |
BlueRayDick:I don't know why people keep glossing over this fact, should Obi win, should labor party accumulate millions of votes, that will definitely translate to legislative seats. It's almost like I need to keep drumming into you guys ears that labor party right now has a Senate seat in imo state and has 8 house of reps already. This is even before a ballot has been cast. Should Obi win, he's expected to have a strong enough caucus in both houses that enables him push foe legislative agendas. I don't think you guys have really thought through the implications of a labor party win. For God's sake, such a victory totally, like hugely changes the entire political landscape. All politicians will know that it is no longer business as usual. A labor party win will be a successful coup of government by the masses. An Obi presidency will be one where the president knowa that the nigerian masses made him the president, and not powerful forces behind the scene pulling strings that expect favors that negatively affects the masses. An Obi presidency is a win for all Nigerians. So this talk of legislative strong-arming is expected to be a relic of the past that is if the legislative are concurrently acting against the interest of the masses. |
BlueRayDick:Oh blueray, this is quite a poor take, first of all, Europeans themselves who practice democracy today (parliamentary) were all once a monarchy too that also believed in leadership for life or being appointed by "God" hence the immense power of the church in the previous 1000 years in Europe. Just like africa, Europe had a mix of theocratic and monarchial rule so nothing really unique about African beliefs just a reorientation is what we need. Secondly, it's always said that the worst form of democracy is better than the best form of autocracy. One is the fact that in a democracy you are assured of a change of leadership eventually no matter how bad the leader is, you already know his time will end. Not the same in autocracy, monarchy or theocracy. Look at america, many were complaining about how terrible he was and the more educated populace voted him out and brought I someone more level headed and experienced. |
GloriousGbola:Corruption is key part of human behavior because it's part of the "survival of the fittest" behavior and a desire to cut corners. But the antidote to corruption anywhere in the world are strong institutions. Who creates or modifies the institutions? Politicians! Who selects or elects the politicians? The masses. Are you seeing where I'm going with this? |
Amoto94:This is because there is no trust by the masses for the FG so every policy by default is looked at suspiciously. Secondly the Buhari himself is the worst communicator Nigeria has ever had. Imagine you had a president who addressed the masses from time and time and took time to breakdown the implications and benefits of a policy to the society, people would be swayed. But the 8 years of buhari's administration, the country has seemed to be on autopilot where various head of government parastatals seem to be acting on their own behest without a joint leadership or direction and worse still no accountability. When things go wrong, no one is sacked or made accountable so where does the trust come in? |
Segedinho:It shouldn't honestly. There is nothing wicked tribalism can't do. It obscures the thinking faculty. |
OasisX:Because Obi excelled monumentally when it came to issues of appropriate usage of State funds. 1. Came in from the corporate sector before becoming a governor. 2. He Met a state heavily in debt and owing it's workers and pensioners. When he left office, no single state worker or pensioner was being owed any salary\pension. Worked with a well balanced budget. Carrying out various state projects without borrowing a dime! And when I mean projects I mean good projects. Equipping every single school with generator and 2 school buses . 1 laptop per 4 students throughout the state. Etc etc. 3. Significantly cost the cost of governance. Plugged leakages and loopholes in government spending, drastically cut out redundant state positions. Nothing like employing 5 thousand special advisers that we see other governors do . 4. Opened an Anambra state sovereign wealth funds where he used a small percentage of state budget to save and invest in various companies. 5. Did not award himself bogus pensions when leaving office and hasn't received a dime from the state government till date. 6. Left an impressive amount for successive governments and a lower debt burden. 7. Was immediately appointed on the presidential economic team of the Jonathan administration immediately after leaving office. 8. Was appointed the chairman of the Nigerian stock exchange, an appointment he accepted without recieving government amoluments and benefits. Calling Obi a common trader is just you seriously downgrading and insulting his acumen but I can understand that, you need to try and bring him down to the level of the criminally wanted yellow teeth-stained drug baron you support. When it comes to who has the best economic experience of the 2. Obi dusts the rest handdown. |
The boldness of these demonic BATstards today that Obi can't win is just laughable! Their drug lord is only sure of 1 region ie 5 states. 5 SW states minus Lagos. They are hoping on the north where the masses there have no clear consensus candidate and are depressed this time around while having the effontery to laugh at the candidate already sure of 2 whole regions.. The middle belt has tilted heavily towards Obi but leave it to drugified batist to delude themselves that their candidate is favored. To delude themselves that the election will be rigges for them. ![]() |
I hope Nigerians realize the media warfare they are in? Most of these pro-tinubu accounts that you see here. That is the small group of accounts that support tinubu here. Know that they are not casual users like you and I. These people are paid employers of the APC campaign aimed at amplifying the talking points of the party and attacking political opponents. Don't fall for it. Don't fall for the "can't win" mind games. |
This is the head of the tinubu troll farm running wild on frontpage. This is the strategy the tinubu campaign has employed for long. . politics of hate and division.. Do these remind you of someone here? BATified2023: BATified2023: BATified2023: BATified2023: BATified2023: BATified2023: BATified2023: |
I mean when you hear psquare, okon, Kate henshaw speak about their choice of obi. You hear them talk about the most eligible, the most physically fit, the most cerebral candidate, the need for a new change of direction in the country. You hear these people talk to the suffering of the masses and the brain drain of the country but when a particular set of supporters speak, all you hear them talk about is sectionalism and regional politics. How they want to teach nigerians bitter lessons, as if the one taught in the past 8 years is not enough.. All they care about is power, not quality of governance. VERY WICKED DEMONIC SOULS! |
Just saw the brymo tweets. God knows how long I've been stressing that the followers of this decrepit candidate are just wicked tribalists. Seeing him display his hate towards an entire group of people is just sad.. This politics of hatred that the tinubu campaign continue to run will definitely come back to bite them.
|
As usual Obi is well ahead in a new professional poll. https://www.channelstv.com/2023/01/04/presidential-election-obi-leads-atiku-tinubu-kwankwaso-in-fresh-poll/ Next month go too shock people. |
BlueRayDick:Apart from this, none of the governors has the power of incumbency per say, only one out of the 17 APC northern governors are running for reelection. They are not on the ticket themselves. Soo their influence does not necessarily translate to the ballot as they're not on it. |
So after all the pump of the "rally". Despite the imported crowd, tinubu couldn't even address the crowd for up to 60 seconds!! So then what was the aim of the campaign?? I thought a campaign rally is for the candidate to address his audience and tell them his plans for the state and country? So if the candidate himself would not address his supposed supporters, what then was the aim of paying for the while crowd? This Nigeria! Better vote wisely oo! |
