An Islamic cleric, Quadric Erinfolami, has been remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Apapa, Lagos, for advance fee fraud.
Erinfolami, 34 was alleged to have obtained N2 million from Ifeanyi Eddie Dayson on the pretext of changing the money into foreign currency for him, but converted it for his own use.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the Islamic cleric had been offering prayers to the victim for when the latter informed him of his plan to travel abroad on a business trip.
Erinfolami, it was gathered, offered to assist him with prayers to succeed, if he can pay an agreed amount of money. Based on this, Dayson gave the money to him but the prayers did not work for him.
The victim reported the matter to the police and Erinfolami was arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates' Court with fraud and stealing, offences contrary to sections 390 and 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with three sureties in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned till 30 November, for mention. He was ordered to be remanded in prison custody because he could not meet the bail conditions in good time.

Lyndsey Medeiros and her husband adopted three-year-old Jerry and another turkey from a Rhode Island farm last week. But Jerry has cataracts, and the eye problems mean he can't eat independently or join his female companion, Penelope, in flying.
Medeiros has posted an ad on Craigslist seeking donations for the surgery. She said the procedure could cost up to $2,600. Her farm in Rehoboth, Mass., cares for other animals with health problems.
