After suffering a heart attach and having quadruple bypass surgery, a man woke up to find himself in a Catholic hospital with nuns taking care of him. As they nursed him back to health, one of the nuns asked him if he had health insurance. "No," he replied, "No health insurance." "Do you have any money in the bank?" asked the nun. "No. No money in the bank." The nun asked, "Do you have any relatives you could ask for help?" The man replied, "I only have a spinster sister, who is a nun." At this the nun because irritated. "Nuns are not spinsters. Nuns are married to God!" "OK, then," said the man. "Send the bill to my brother-in-law." |

Work on deciphering a complex set of symbols sent to them is underway, scientists from the country's Space Research Institute said. They claim aliens are currently answering 30 questions posed to them. Lachezar Filipov, deputy director of the Space Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, confirmed the research. He said the centre's researchers were analysing 150 crop circles from around the world, which they believe answer the questions. "Aliens are currently all around us, and are watching us all the time," Mr Filipov told Bulgarian media. "They are not hostile towards us, rather, they want to help us but we have not grown enough in order to establish direct contact with them." Mr Filipov said that even the seat of the Catholic church, the Vatican, had agreed that aliens existed. He said humans were not going to be able to establish contact with the extraterrestrials through radio waves but through the power of thought. "The human race was certainly going to have direct contact with the aliens in the next 10 to 15 years," he said. "Extraterrestrials are critical of the people's amoral behavior referring to the humans' interference in nature's processes." The publication of the BAS researchers report concerning communicating with aliens comes in the midst of a controversy over the role, feasibility, and reform of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Last week it lead to a heated debate between Bulgaria's Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, and President Georgi Parvanov. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/bulgaria/6650677/Aliens-already-exist-on-earth-Bulgarian-scientists-claim.html |
When an ambulance brought Daniel Webb home from the hospital after he hurt his knee in March, paramedics warned the then 550-pound man he probably wouldn't be able to get up from his recliner if they put him there, his wife said. Webb told them to leave him there anyway. He would sit in that recliner, slowly dying, for the next eight months. Finally, paramedics were called back to his Greenwood home on Wednesday because he was in a lot of pain. Webb's body was physically stuck to the power recliner and firefighters had to cut him from the chair to take him to the hospital. He died a few hours later, his body covered with sores and a "very bad odor," according to a police report. Webb, 33, didn't ask for help for all those months, because he was ashamed and didn't have health insurance, said his wife, Ada, He slept and used the bathroom in his chair and she cleaned it every day. The former preacher would post sermons online from the chair, and it wasn't long before he decided he was ready to go home to the Lord, she said. "After he sat there in that one spot for a week, he was embarrassed. It was like he already knew what was going to happen," Ada Webb said. Webb's mother was the one who placed the final call to paramedics. Not only did crews have to cut apart the chair, but they had to cut a hole in the wall of the couple's mobile home about 70 miles west of Columbia to get him out. A police report said he weighed about 800pounds, but his wife said he was closer to 500 pounds. The hospital told Daniel Webb's wife he died from a heart attack, she said. The coroner's office isn't investigating the death and referred all questions to Greenwood County deputies, who sent their report, but didn't respond to a phone message. He's with Jesus now' Webb died on the couple's second anniversary. They met four years ago on MySpace, and Ada Webb said she didn't see a man who weighed more than 500 pounds, but instead saw a guy who loved the Lord and had a big heart. "I had the worst anniversary yesterday I ever had, but I know he had the best one he ever had because he's with Jesus now," she said. Daniel Webb drove school buses for nearly 15 years, until his weight made it impossible. Full story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34050673/ |

True! Slim peeps do a whole lot of walking than obese people. Heavy reliance on technology has limited walking & lifting heavy weights to the gym room! Too bad! |
Lots of scary things are happening worldwide, itz good to think outside the box cos any thing is possible! Even aliens. |

Americans need a law like this, almost a third of their population is either fat or obese. Too much junk food |
In Japan, being thin is the law! People there are fighting fat to comply with a government-imposed waistline standard, as well as to ward off dreaded "metabolic syndrome" -- a combination of health risks including stomach flab, high blood pressure and high cholesterol that can lead to cardiovascular disease and diabetes. "Japanese lawmakers last year set a maximum waistline size for anyone age 40 and older: 85centimeters (33.5 inches) for men and 90 centimeters (35.4 inches) for women." http://digg.com/world_news/Fat_People_Now_Illegal_in_Japan_Should_Be_Easy_to_Catch http://english.kompas.com/read/xml/2009/11/12/16305550/Being.Too.Fat.Illegal.in.Japan.Now |
One incident of manipulation by some lazy scientists does not make global warming a fruad! Glaciers are breaking away and melting, and when glaciers melt, sea levels rise, and with rising sea levels massive flooding & submerging occurs with every rainfall in cities below sea level. Understand? |
A warning has been issued to ships in the southern Pacific Ocean after more than 100 icebergs were spotted drifting towards New Zealand. The icebergs, some of which are 200m (650ft) in size, are believed to have broken from an Antarctic ice floe. Many scientists have said they believe these segments will break up long before reaching the New Zealand coastline. The last time such a large flotilla was spotted so nearby was in 2006. Maritime New Zealand has issued the alert to vessels in the area although it is not a major shipping lane. Spokesman Ross Henderson said: "It is really just a general warning for shipping in that area to be on the alert for icebergs." Earlier spot Glaciologist Neal Young, from the Australian Antarctic Division, said the flotilla was heading towards New Zealand's main South Island. Mr Young said satellite photography spotted just one cluster of icebergs but that was not to say more were not around. He said the closest iceberg - about 30m high (98ft), was 160 miles (257.5km) south east of New Zealand's Stewart Island. Earlier this month the Australian government organisation reported larger icebergs were seen floating off Tasmania's Macquarie Island territory. It is believed this particular flotilla stems from those giant chunks - one which was estimated to be double the size of Beijing's "Bird's Nest" Olympic Stadium. A number of scientists say they believe the icebergs originally broke away from the Ross Sea Ice Shelf in 2000 and have been drifting and slowly breaking apart since then, reports say. A Massachusetts woman who recently separated from her husband and had her hours cut at work says an image of Jesus Christ she sees on her iron has reassured her that "life is going to be good." Mary Jo Coady first noticed the image Sunday when she walked into her daughter's room. The brownish residue on the bottom of the iron looks like the face of a man with long hair. The 44-year-old Coady was raised Catholic. She and her two college-age daughters agree that the image looks like Jesus and is proof that "he's listening." Coady tells The Eagle-Tribune she hopes her story will inspire others during the holidays. She says she plans to keep the iron in a closet and buy a new one. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091127/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_iron_jesus_1 |
Authorities say a man in Colorado apparently tried to steal an ATM by hauling it away with a truck. The plan didn't work. The alleged attempted theft of the free-standing, outdoor ATM in Boulder set off an alarm early Wednesday morning. When police arrived they found the ATM on its side about 15 feet from its foundation outside a Chase Bank. No money had been taken. Surveillance photos show a man hooking the ATM's chain to the back of a U-Haul truck. The truck, which had been reported as stolen, was discovered a short distance away later that day. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091127/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_atm_u_haul_2 |
A creepy string of calf mutilations in southern Colorado has a rancher and sheriff's officials mystified. Four calves were found dead in a pasture just north of the New Mexico state line in recent weeks. The dead calves had their skins peeled back and organs cleared from the rib cage. One calf had its tongue removed. But rancher Manuel Sanchez has found no signs of human attackers, such as footprints or ATV tracks, And there are no signs of an animal attack by a coyote or mountain lion. Usually predators leave pools of blood or drag marks from carrying away the livestock. Two officers from the Costilla County Sheriff's Office have investigated the mutilations but say they don't know what's killing the calves. "There's nothing really to go by," said Sanchez, who's ranched for nearly 50 years. "I can't figure it out." A spokesman for the sheriff's office told The Pueblo Chieftain that investigators doubt a person butchered the calves because there is no blood at the scene. "I've butchered a cow before and I know what kind of a mess it leaves," Sgt. James Chavez said. Some in the area believe the mutilations are the work of aliens. An area UFO chaser, Chuck Zukowski of Colorado Springs, has been to the Costilla County pasture to investigate. He told the paper there have been other unexplained calf mutilations in the area, including three in March. One of the other calves, found dead on a ranch near Trinidad, had its ears removed, Zukowski said. "We're trying as much as we can to find a pattern," said Zukowski, who runs a UFO Web site called ufonut.com. Sanchez said he has sold off his 32 remaining calves out of fear more would be mutilated. He hasn't decided how he'll manage the remaining 40 animals in his herd. "It's a big loss for a small rancher," he said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091126/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_mysterious_calf_mutilations |

True, but our concept of heaven & hell is flawed! |
The road to eternity or heaven is not under the wings of your imam or pastor, rather the road to eternity lies in our hearts. Anybody capable of thought will not need a pastor/imam to understand the concept of right & wrong, good & bad! When your respective religions become a burden, instead of a vehicle to spiritual evolution & self awareness, then its time to ponder on the reality of the above passage! Please it applies to all religions |
Every single akin & paw paw film ever made was pathetic. Or maybe i've lost my sense of humour? wateva! |
In Buddhism a type of freethought was advocated by Gautama Buddha, most notably in the Kalama Sutta: ""It is proper for you, Kalamas [the people of the village of Kesaputta], to doubt, to be uncertain; uncertainty has arisen in you about what is doubtful. Come, Kalamas. Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing; nor upon tradition; nor upon rumor; nor upon what is in a scripture; nor upon surmise; nor upon an axiom; nor upon specious reasoning; nor upon a bias towards a notion that has been pondered over; nor upon another's seeming ability; nor upon the consideration, 'The monk is our teacher.' Kalamas, when you yourselves know: 'These things are bad; these things are blameable; these things are censured by the wise; undertaken and observed, these things lead to harm and ill, abandon them. ".,.,.Do not accept anything by mere tradition.,.,. Do not accept anything just because it accords with your scriptures.,.,. Do not accept anything merely because it agrees with your pre-conceived notions.,.,. But when you know for yourselves-these things are moral, these things are blameless, these things are praised by the wise, these things, when performed and undertaken, conduce to well-being and happiness-then do you live acting accordingly.""" |
