Ladies and gentlemen, today, the people of Kogi State are gonna decide who to lead them for the next four years. The contest is between Abubakar Audu of the APC and Idris Wada of the PDP who happens to be the incumbent. Others are Philip Omeiza Salawu, former Deputy Governor who's flying LP's flag.

This thread is for the Election live update.

Voters in Kogi state will on Saturday elect a new governor for the 24-year old state.

The voters have options of 22 candidates, but the most popular candidates are Abubakar Audu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, and Idris Wada, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

While Mr. Wada is the incumbent, Mr Abubakar was governor of the state between 1999 and 2003.

PREMIUM TIMES reporters, Josiah Oluwole and Hassan Adebayo are on ground in the state and would provide live updates of events from the state.

Idris Wada is definitely walking alone on Saturday.

If all these have truly happened, then Wada should give it up already. With the massive support Audu enjoys in Kogi Central, I'm so sure that with the votes he would secure from Igala, he's already the Governor. Wada sure knows he's gonna lose, that's the reason they've been accusing the Presidency.

According to DailyPost, the FG is to host the team come Sun. November 29th. So what's the guardian trynna say? They wanted to also make the gullible ones believe that Buhari only gave those guys 20K each.

To be honest, Echocho is the only politician that can match Audu's popularity in the whole of Kogi. Unfortunately for the PDP, Echocho alongside Bob Alfa and Ibrahim Idris Jnr. all decamped to APC in front of over 70,000 people in Ankpa a couple of weeks ago. Ahmadu Ali and Wada destroyed PDP in Kogi.

Are you serious that Echocho has truly decamped? If true, then Wada stands no chance at all. I believe if the Governorship is not zoned to Kogi Central (the Ebiras) come 2019, Echocho would likely fly APC's flag. Collapsing his structure with that of Audu is healthy to APC.

@OP, you're so on point. I'm so surprised that whenever I come to Nairaland, I always see people call Audu all sorts of names. But back then in my lodge in school, one guy from Kogi (if not Dekina [Wada's home], it would be Aankpa) always says Audu is the best thing since sliced bread in Kogi. He said the man is so simple. The only me he tends to believe more than Audu in Kogi is Ochocho.

It wouldn't affect APC's chances in Kogi State. Even if Buhari doesn't support Audu as alleged by the PDPians, he hasn't come out openly to castigate him, so I feel they would still vote him. Most of them still feel he enjoys Buhari's support. So no fear!

They should enjoy Wike's administration na. .He's the best thing since sliced bread. The best thing to ever happen to Rivers State is Wike. They should enjoy his administration while it lasts.

Noted. I believe the defence headquarters and the President would take the necessary action. What baffles me is that those people who castigated PremiumTimes and said they were lying for breaking/publishing this kinda news when Jonathan was President would still be the ones who would come here and start calling Buhari names. Hadn't been it was under Jonathan, they wouldn't have believed such news. But since it's Buhari, they wouldn't even bother to verify it.
