I actually don't mean to sound harsh, people just take me too seriously. Anyway, I'll try to sugarcoat next time.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!!!

Hello People,

I would like your CLARIFICATION on this;

A friend of mine had a relatively low UTME score for medicine (242) and a slightly strong O'level. but, with the kind of competition and lots of aspirants with good utme scores this year.

I advised him to change his course toa non-competitive paramedical coures (Physiology, to be precise) with the aim of achieving a good CGPA (atleast 5.0) which he is capable of in his first year, so he could transfer/cross-over to medicine afterwards..

So, my question to the geniuses here is; How FEASIBLE is this idea?

PS: All things being equal.
Sorry o Oga, which one is "at least 5.0"... Is there any CGPA higher? Or does his school use a 7.0 model.

To your question, it depends on the school. Not all schools allow transfer. I know of unilorin and unizik but for others, can't really say

Donpre, seriously ion knw wat to say.. Unizik does igbo as a gss course 1st n 2nd semester. I dnt have the slightest idea about igbo. UNN dosnt do such. From year One ion think i'll want any course to hold me bk.. Morestil, dnt u think an avg of 316.2 can scale me through?
Pls comment.
After smashing core sciences, a med aspirant chickens out at the sight of Igbo.... So funnygrin

Anyway, 316 could... But can you really take that risk. If yes, then sure, go ahead. A few months would tell how bold or stupid your choice was. Don't however forget your goal of taking utme, you seem to be losing sight of that. Maybe comfortability of your score is giving you ideas.

Final question, if you had a lower score, would you care about Igbo?... Lemme come and be going.

I'm no psychologist or anything... But I think the questions you need to answer are

Why do I need to change?

Is it going to be worth it?

Can I risk another year?

In all honest tho, I'm curious to see if you'd make it to UNN or not, so don't ruin my fun... I endorse the change!

So you're gonna throw away your pre science chance and comfortable utme/waec at unizik to go try your luck at UNN?.... Mehn you are intriguing. Can't really say if it's a bold, calculated or stupid move but I'm curious to see how it will turn out

I was reading about neurocysticerosis(tapeworm infection of the brain) and something did quite seem right, even Google can't help... The question is, how does something as big as the larva of a tapeworm get past the BBB?

Also this quote from a website
This means that children born with HIV can live long enough to meet their grandchildren.
Someone should please help enlighten me. Infants are said to have a weak/underdeveloped immune system. If that is true, a child with HIV shouldn't last a year, at most two as they have no immunity or antibodies for most sicknesses. So how then could that statement be true?

Thank you i get the point, I'm considering going for a tutorial if possible, i want to Make it once and for all.

What is the minimum sittings in a O'level exam? Apart from the 5 core subjects. I mean can i sit for 6 and leave the rest?
Secondly, i heard about the irrelevance of NECO to country abroad, is it really true?

Cc: chukwukapromise & Donpre...
I believe sitting for all should be best but I can't confirm the minimum required subjects you should sit for. However I believe 7 is the minimum you should register for

As for NECO, It should be accepted, as long as your country endorses it as a certificate for finishing high school. So unless you can find proof of neco result being rejected abroad, I implore you disregard such info.
However WAEC is more widely known and accepted especially in all West African countries. I would advise you have a waec result just in case

Most countries however insist that you take their own O'level cert. E.g Gmat, SAT, TOEFL etc.

I would however do a little research on this tho and get back to you

Since I mentioned it, I believe I should also clear up any misinformation.

O'level DO NOT EXPIRE and I did not insinuate such. However some(very few) schools require a recent O'level result. I don't know if it still holds true up till now but I've heard it somewhere hence why I mentioned it.

Anyway, this links are proof to validate that I HAVE SEEN SUCH, not necessarily making it true or that it'll apply to your school of choice

Donpre, Dont complicate issuses for d young lad, We're taking about Absu med&sug , and ur bringing in UI, AAU and DELSU into it....comparing Two university of unequal Admission prequiste and using d inference as a decoid in determining an unknown Process may put your Advisee on a risky wheels...266 for medicine, and you say "Admission is sure!"?...Tell him d truth bro, He got a chance, But not 100%sure...
Alright maybe 'admission is sure' was a bit excessive but guess what you've been guessing also, in fact everyone has been guessing because no one knows sh!t about what this year would bring. I use references cause that's all we've got. Sadly you didn't give any.

Anyway I think this has gone on long enough. Ama conclude by saying, his chances are 'very high' however he should get more info(last year's cutoff etc.) and connection. Although switching to MLS or Pharmacy would seal his fate... Drops mic

I dont no why am t@ckling you, but seriously? What concern Admission year and Ssce year?...That stand no obstacle in detering him in future...The only Saga he'll face up with is d Clearance officials...An affidavit will take care Of that....what concord do embassy have with one admission letter?,...and what unity do employers have with one Date of Birth, date of Scce exam and Date of admission?...SamanN, Pls writing ur olevel exams can be done anytime.
I think you need enlightenment, a lot of it.

You think people don't check dates abi?, like you'd do anything you like and get away with it. If they don't care for dates, why is your o'level suppose to have been written in the last 5 years. You think employers don't cross check applicants data before employment. It'd shock you that admission clearance is very simple compared to employment.

About the embassy, I meant foreign schools and bodies. Nigeria is already deemed a corrupted nation. You think mismatching dates of documents won't raise a red flag. You think you wouldn't explain how you finished secondary school a year after you got admission.

Lastly I think the problem we've got is our view of life. I'm a realist and pragmatist and you seem to be an optimist. It's only normal we'd clash a lot.
I'm just trying to avoid all possible problems in the future however you don't even see any.

Anyway, it's left for SamanN to decide. He's got nothing to lose if he follows my advice can't say the same about yours

You're very right. I'll try as much as possible to write GCE. Just the math thing dey fear me, i had long forgot it. The practical aspect also.

Goodluck pal! Wish you the best

SamanN:
If i have any reason to say 'why' won't they consider? Is it just that the chances will be low?
I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was that if you're taking the GCE, taking it this year would be better cus if you were to take it next year, you'd have to explain in the future to people(employers, embassies, schools etc) why your O'level says 2018 while you gained admission in 2017. hence you'd have to present the old one and the whole affidavit nonsense comes up again.

Also I don't think the GCE would have anything to do with your admissions chances. It's for future purposes remember?

1]1,500 people for 50seats, so that not competitive?

2]Expensive fees and 1500 applied for it?

3]That'z not a point, So long people applied for d uni.[U cannot tell if does 1500 aint big guns]

4]who told you, Are u jamb register?...U dont have a statistical sheet to support this motion.

I agree with your connection point, But disagree with d no of acceptable applicants.U know u cannot tell what dis year i'll bring..His chances aint high
Normally, I would just back down but for some reason I will indulge in this discuss.

1. Delsu is also 50 slots for 3495 candidates. Do you think 260 is a competitive cutoff?.. I don't

2. AAU cost 150k+ for school fees, yet 1100+ applied last year. Some peeps can pay, sadly only few hence low competition. Someone with 23x got medicine last Year at AAU, that would never happen in cheap state schools like lasu

3. There is such a thing as class. Same candidates that are going make absu MBBS ain't the same that can make UI MBBS. People know this even you, that's why you recommend less competitive school for peeps with low scores

4. You're kidding ryt? I need the registrars stats to know 65% isn't that easy a score? . Mehn that's weak!... Anyway, I'm sure you can count how many 260s you've seen in this thread. That's stats enough.

Finally, I don't do guess work, I research stuff hence why I used delsu as a reference. However you haven't pulled any real evidence that 266 won't get it, not even absu's last year cut off for medicine
