Soil type, topography and Amount of rainfall/light determines the type of organisms you'll find in a region.
Sokoto has a minute amount of rainfall and a unique topography, hence, a completely different community of organisms.
keyword "primarily"undecided

primarily it should determine the nature of soil which would in turn determine the community... that's how I see it tho
