Funny scam when I was still a child.

Mine happened a long time ago. However, I still remember it crystal clear cuz it taught me some deep lessons.

I schooled in a religious school, back then in Sokoto, Mamman Barkeji Nursery and Primary School. In my Primary 3, I got first position for the first time and became the class prefect. Normally, girls started coming closer to me. I also reciprocated their kind gesture. There was this beautiful girl who came second that term. She was taller then most of us, had a pointed nose, and a very wonderful smile. I think her name was like Henuwell.

Naturally, I liked her. After school one day, a friend of mine, Musa, came to me and told me that she liked me and that she wanted to be my friend and would need some money. Mind you, I was about 7 years old then oh. Happily, I have him the little I has on me, about 10 kobo.

The next day, during the morning assembly, he told me that she was very grateful and that she loved me for that. My head began to swell. He asked whether I had some more money for her that it would make her love me the more. Unfortunately, I didn't have any with me, but I promised him that I would get it for him the next day. My people, that was how I started stealing the small change from our children's purse that was kept in my parent's room. I stole the N 25 that was there and gave it to the boy. Everyday, I got one new love story or another from the girl about how she was thinking of me, how she loved me better than any other boy, etc through Musa.

On one Monday morning, nemesis decided to pursue and catch up with me. I went into the Children's purse and lo and behold, only N 500 note was left there. Without thinking twice, I took the money and kept it in my bag. When it was time for us to go, my dad told us to enter his vehicle so that he could pick up our neighbours and drop us all at school. I really don't know what happened, but when he came out of the room, he came out with an empty bag of Children's money and began to ask for the thief. All of us initially denied it. Then my mom joined him and began to beg us to open up. By that time, I was already shaking. That was how I confessed and got serious beatings from both my parents. I cried and cried and cried. It was really painful. After some time, my parents stopped and bundled me inside the car.

As soon as we got to school, they told the Headmaster and I went for the morning assembly. The first thing that Musa asked when he saw me was whether I came with the money. At that point, the pain I was feeling was more than my love for Henuwell and I told him to leave me alone. As soon as the assembly was dismissed, my class teacher called me to kneel down under the tree for stealing from my parents. I then told him that it was because of Musa and Henuwell.

When both of them came, Musa couldn't look at me. As the man was about to punish both of them, the girl shouted that she didn't know anything about it. That was when Musa confessed that he didn't even talk to the girl and that he was using the money I gave him for himself. You need extra beatings I received that morning. Musa was called a criminal, was terribly beaten and got seriously punished throughout the whole day. They even asked reported him to his parents.

To crown it all, about a week later, I learnt that Henuwell actually really loved me and wanted to be my good friend.

The next term, I left that school.

That was how I was scammed.
This stuff happened about 16 years ago, but funny enough, as I was typing this, I could still visualise Henuwell's face.


Edit: For those asking about the 10 kobo I gave Musa, like I said initially, I don't exactly remember the actual value, but I know it was the change I had on me which was a coin.

I'm waiting for the lockdown to be lifted to go back, but before then, (who knows when this whole problem will end) felt i might get some help here.

Please Doctors, what could be wrong with me. Especially this diarrhoea and white tongue. My stomach is always rumbling after eating. Please help.

Use the one you're most comfortable with. For me I use Figma cos I don't really need a super computer to work with it. The only problem is that you need to be online for better performance. Figma is also cool for collaboration.

VFX is also another broad aspect of movie production as there are other things that you still can't master as a VFX artist. For instance you can sculpt a good model and lack the skills to properly animate it. Some peoples jobs is to create digital environment while another takes care of proper lighting of the environment. Some movies requires you to model a replica of your actor just to perform an incredible stunt. If you've seen "Aquaman" you'll understand what I'm about to say here. A team built some amazing models while another was interested in color correcting the models. Another was responsible for the hair in water motion etc.

Know what you want to do and start learning from specific aspects. Know if you want to create human models or buildings or even good at story boards etc. It's a lot to write but good luck. To further help you, go lean hudini 3d, Maya and most importantly Photoshop.

Nobody his anything from you. There's more to creating a SciFi or actin movie which means that it's not a job for one man. You need to be a good cinematographer to direct your scenes to tell a good story. You also need a good video editor, a great VFX team etc to do this.

So for a one man to achieve these is near impossible but doable if you're doing a 2 seconds video or 1 minute VFX reel.

Not that, we both agreed as I chose the template that he will add the multilanguage in it, it is there already, but only English is in highlight. He agreed to do it, only to come back and tell me he wont do it till I pay him. He did nt tell me how much till I gave him 4K. Even the first one, he did not edit it to my taste as I told him small things to edit which he is getting it hard to do.

Truth is, get someone else to do the job and then ensure you state everything you want done to the person by creating a to-do list so the developer knows what he's up against before charging for the job. If you feel you can continue with him, then create a list of what you want him to do then ensure he host it on his own server then when you're sure he's done all you requested of him then you can pay him after he has transferred it to your own server.

He started working, only to come back and tell me he wont make it multilingual again that I will have to pay for it. I gave him more 4k and pointed out few things he need to edit in the former site and the present one, add phone numbers in the registration field. He started demanding $250

I see where the problem is coming from. You were specific with what you wanted in the first one which was completed. Now you want him to add multilingual functionality and also do a few tweak in the new one for 4k. So where's the milking here?

Nairalanders, I contracted a programmer I got his contacts from Nairaland here to install and edit a Hyip script for me. We agreed on a certain amount which I paid him. He started the job, but he was very arrogant and not ready to let me tell him exactly how I want the site to look like. He was doing it as if I should be begging him to do that. I bought the host myself, only for him to install a script and edit it, I even bought the script from him. He did not give me the download link till now.

I endured till the end not minding his arrogance. I noticed that the site was not showing a referral link when registered, but it sends email to the new client, I now tell him if he can add the referral link or add a field in the email the new registered member gets that his referral link will look like this (www.thesite.com/?ref=Username). Then add phone number in the room for Personal Information in the registration page, make the site multilingual which we earlier agreed upon. He started calling me names that I should give him $250 to do these. Nairalanders, is it fair?

We're not sure how much you paid and the agreement between you and the said developer until we know this, then we can decide if it's fair or not.

Even a dedicated server is not guaranteed for 100% uptime. It depends on where you're buying from.

I have a last question. Though.
In my case the guy charged amount x.
When I asked him if it includes domain and hosting. He said no. So it felt strange to me. That is why I asked. I didn't underpriced him though.

I then bought the domain
He said he was a reseller for the hosting website that he recommended to me and that the advantage of buying the hosting from him as the reseller is that he has a system that monitor for downtime and make sure the website bought under his reseller are always online.
Can this be true and possible?
If yes, how?
Since I paid for the domain and also hosting.
The x amount I paid him is just for the development of the website right?

The truth: he's lying to you.

The first answer is that, he's supposed to charge for everything. A developer night ask you to purchase your hosting and domain yourself if he noticed you'll under price his service or he just wants you to do it yourself.

Your second answer is that you're buying the same service.
