https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/INEC-.jpg?712c0b The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has suspended all electoral processes regarding the re-run parliamentary elections in Rivers state. INEC also said it is in receipt of the results of nine state constituencies and one federal constituency in which rerun elections were held over the weekend in the state. Director of Voter Education Publicity of INEC, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, who made the disclosure, explained that the release of further results were suspended due to reports of violence, attacks and the deaths of INEC officials and adhoc personnel in the state. He said all INEC personnel were relocated to Abuja yesterday due to the escalation of violence in Rivers State. The official said INEC conducted the polls in Rivers State pursuant to the orders of the Court of Appeal, but “rather unfortunately, some of these elections witnessed the disruption of the process, including the barricading of some of the INEC local government offices and Registration Area Centres (RACs) used for the distribution of electoral materials which led to the late commencement of the exercise in some places and consequently, its smooth take off. “Of more serious concern was the level of threats, violence and intimidation of election officials and voters by well armed thugs and miscreants allegedly acting on behalf of some politicians, which marred the elections in some areas. “There were reports of numerous attacks resulting in fatalities, kidnappings, ballot snatching, diversion of officials and materials, amongst others, which necessitated its suspension in 8 local government areas. “Regrettably, such deviant behaviour has continued today (Sunday). Several permanent and ad hoc staff engaged by the commission have been attacked, again resulting in fatalities, while some have been forcibly abducted and taken to unknown destinations. “Under such difficult circumstances, the Returning Officers were only able to collate and declare results in one federal and nine state constituencies where the disruption and malpractices were not so widespread. “Having reviewed the situation, the commission is compelled to suspend all further action concerning the exercise in all the other constituencies in the state pending the receipt of a comprehensive report from its field officials and monitors. “For the avoidance of doubt, it should be noted that the suspension does not affect the constituencies where the exercise has been completed and the results declared by the Returning Officers,” Osaze-Uzzi added. http://dailypost.ng/2016/03/21/inec-suspends-all-electoral-processes-in-rivers-state/ |

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has fixed March 24 for ruling on a motion by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, seeking to quash the charges of false assets declaration preferred against him. The Danladi Umar-led tribunal fixed the date for ruling after entertaining arguments for and against the motion. Saraki’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), argued that the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to entertain the charges, on among other grounds, that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice lacked the powers to file charges before the tribunal. He also argued that the failure of the Code of Conduct Bureau to invite Saraki to confront him with the breaches in his assets declaration form was fatal to the validity of the charges. But the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), urged the tribunal to dismiss the motion, as same constituted an abuse of court process. He described the motion as absurd and ridiculous on the basis that Saraki had initially in a similar motion argued up to the Supreme Court level, contended that the charges were incompetent for being filed at a time the office of the AGF was vacant. The Supreme Court in its judgment on Saraki’s earlier objection to the trial affirmed the validity of the charges and the jurisdiction of the tribunal. Saraki was represented by 80 lawyers at the Friday’s proceedings while the prosecution by 10. http://www.punchng.com/cctll-rule-on-sarakis-motion-to-dismiss-charges-march-24/

I watched him live on T.V during the ministerial screening, the guy was just too sound but at the end baba gave him another portfolio instead of minister for justice. I also watched the guy from Abia State, baba instead of allowing the man from Abia state to lead our economic team(minister of finance), he gave him one other inferior portfolio. That's to tell you that baba was destined to fail, where he is suppose to fix technocrats, he replaced them with politicians(fashola of minister of power, housing and works). Not here to lecture you all on politics, will save that for another day.
