- Some federal lawmakers are reportedly working to use the constitution to get President Buhari to reveal his health status - The lawmakers, mainly of the opposition PDP, say the secrecy surrounding Buhari's health is “unsatisfactory and falls short of global practices." - The PDP lawmakers are expected to move this week either on floor of the Senate of the House of Representatives Emerging reports say that some federal lawmakers in the National Assembly have begun moves to invoke the constitution to force President Muhammadu Buhari to reveal his health status. The Guardian reports that lawmakers may try to call for the invocation of section 144 (1) of the 1999 Constitution in the bid to get President Buhari’s health status revealed. The move is actively supported by members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to the report, efforts to invoke the said section reached its peak last week when an attempt was made by chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts Kingsley Chinda to present the move under matters of urgent importance on the floor of the House of Representatives. The move was however blocked by Speaker Yakubu Dogara on the grounds that issue was weighty and had grave political implications. NAIJ.com gathered that further reports say that this week, some PDP lawmakers may either re-present the issue as a motion or present it as a matter of privilege on either the floor of the Senate or the House of Representatives. A draft of the proposed motion, The Guardian says, specifically expressed concern over the president’s poor health status and the secrecy it has been subjected terming it “unsatisfactory and falls short of global practices.’’ The report however quoted rights activist and constitutional lawyer Mike Ozekhome as saying it would be tough to 28 out of President Buhari’s 42 ministers to invoke the constitutional provision even if the motion sails through at the National Assembly. NAIJ.com reported earlier that President Buhari,, on Sunday night, May 7, received the leadership of the National Assembly in Senate president Bukola Saraki and the Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara just before his departure for the medical trip to London. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was also present at the meeting. The president shared the photos of his meeting on his Twitter page and wrote: "This evening at home I received Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Speaker House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, ahead of my Trip to London tonight." He added: "I have absolute confidence that Government will continue to function smoothly and normallywhile I'm away. A group under the aegis of Northern Inter-Faith and Religious Organization has stated that Nigerians should be thankful to President Muhammadu Buhari, whom it claimed shut the mouth of ‘blood suckers’ in the country. It said what Buhari needed now was prayer and not unnecessary criticisms from Nigerians. The National Co-coordinator of the group, Bishop Musa Fomson in a statement issued on Thursday and forwarded to DAILY POST, said there was urgent need to pray for the president’s health so that God could strengthen him and enable him revive the country’s economy. He said, “God has used President Buhari to seal the mouth of blood suckers who daily cause anguish to Nigerians through the instrumentality of terrorists and insurgents. They make the blood of Nigerians flow to suck in their wicked covens. In this we again thank God for President Buhari, whose competent military chiefs have pushed back the evil. We however do not lose sight of the truth. “These evil people are beyond the ordinary, the security breaches in Nigeria have their spiritual connections. The renewed attacks by remnant of Boko Haram terrorists were manifestation of spiritual manipulation to keep Nigerians in the bondage of fear. This bondage we shall break with prayer.” He also said Nigerians need to come together and pray to God to heal the land as well as free the country from the hands of “evil men whose aim is to hold back Nigeria’s progress”. Fomsom recalled that prior to the 2015 elections, there were doubts and despair that overwhelmed the land, stressing that at that time, it was almost concluded that the election or its outcome will break up the country. He however said through prayers God intervened and Buhari was elected President According to Fomson, “We are again confronted by not too pleasant situations brought about by human interference with the divine. Some persons have made it their life ambition to truncate the anti-corruption fight that the entire nation yearned for. “Their contamination of the process is evident in the frustration of investigations. We see it in the bizarre rulings in our law courts. The din of pro-corruption protesters echoes across the world. The anti-corruption crusade needs prayers. “Our economy needs prayers too. It has taken only the grace of God and the prudence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to keep Nigeria from the brink economically. We thank God for this because we did not end up like Venezuela which has similar configuration as us. While thank God for this good fortune we nonetheless recognize that our economy needs prayers.” He said Nigerians will be using intercessory night to pray God to complete the healing process of the nation and Mr. President. “We invite Nigerians of all faiths to join us on this night as it is important that we pray for President Buhari’s health and quick recovery because of the many things that God is planning to use him for beyond 2019,” he said. He revealed that the prayer night will be held at the Nyanya Prayer Ground in Abuja on May 13, 2017. http://dailypost.ng/2017/05/04/buhari-shut-mouth-blood-suckers-nigeria-northern-group/

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to preside over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting today Wednesday. This has, however, generated mixed reactions among Nigerians. While some say he would attend, others stated that the presidency will, as usual, give excused to Nigerians if Buhari fails to show up. The president has failed to attend FEC meetings for three consecutive weeks, fuelling speculation about his health. However, he resumed at his desk on Tuesday and took briefs from Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), and Maikanti Baru, Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). FEC, which is made up of the president, vice-president and all Ministers, is the highest decision making organ of the government. Meanwhile, one social media user @PaulUtho is trending for tweeting that “If@MBuhari attends the FEC meeting tomorrow in the Council Chamber at the State House, l’ll give out 25k to 5people who RT this.” Other reactions on Buhari below: @Tomyboiz Buhari will be “arranged” to attend the FEC meeting and address council members for some minutes…after which he will leave and the VP will continue presiding over the meeting.
