By Eric Patrick, Emeka Ojukwu (Junior), the son of the late Igbo leader, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, on Wednesday affirmed that his late father told President Muhammadu Buhari that he (late Ojukwu) would want one indissoluble Nigeria. Ojukwu, who said his father told him about his discussion with Buhari, denied claims by some pro-Biafran groups that he was in support of the agitation for Biafra. In a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, Anambra State, Ojukwu said he never granted any media interview or posted any massage on social media that Buhari was wrong about his discussion with his late father. He said, “It has been brought to my attention that there is an article making the rounds on social media attributed to me refuting the remarks of Mr. President concerning his relationship and discussion with my late father. “Let me state the following categorically: firstly, that I made no such comments to anybody, and secondly that I am aware that His Excellency’s (Buhari’s) comments were indeed factual. “I have noticed a disturbing trend recently of fake news being attributed to me on social media. I don’t know who is behind it or what their motive might is but let me assure you that any time I feel the need to comment publicly on any matter, I will not do so via some anonymous email or anything of the like; rather be rest assured that there will be no ambiguity whatsoever as to whether the comments came from me.” He urged the public to discountenance the stories in the social media or any media platform whatsoever credited to him that he accused Buhari of telling lies, warning that such malicious and damaging publications would not be taken lightly should it be repeated. He counselled those overheating the polity to desist from such in the interest of the country. He added, “Let me lend my voice to those of the rest of my fellow countrymen and welcome Mr. President back home.” Source: http://community.vanguardngr.com/forum/topics/ojukwu-s-son-disowns-ipob-massob-backs-buhari |

Written by Amako Nneji: The trending news now is that RATS, maybe thousands of them, beat the water tight security network stationed in the Presidential Villa, and invaded President Muhamamdu Buhari’s office, while he was faraway in the United Kingdom, UK, for a medical vacation. Since the news broke out, I have been waiting patiently to hear or read the reaction of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, or the loquacious Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, about the trending news. I am expecting Lai Mohammed to pass the buck to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, anytime soon, for being responsible for the rats’ invasion to Buhari’s office, the most secure place in Nigeria. “After all, the 16 years Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, misrule and corruption, led to the shocking rats infestation. If funds meant for arms to fight Boko Haram was diverted to a private pocket under Jonathan, how are we sure that the money meant for fumigation of Aso Rock was not misappropriated”, Lai Mohammed may be tempted to say. I am just pre-empting him sha. I do not want to believe that rats would invade the office of the President of the most populous black nation in the world, to eat up furniture comfortably, thereby forcing the President to start operating from his official residence. What has gone wrong? Where did Buhari get it wrong? What is happening to Nigeria? Why are we now a laughing stock in the community of nations? Buhari, Why? Buhari was a god; a mystery! He was an embodiment of integrity and a symbol of hope. To many, he was the much awaited promised Messiah. I also remember my good friend and Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, describing Buhari as “a new sheriff is in town”. In the blitz of ecstasy, some “social media influencers” trended a catchphrase, “GoHarderBuhari”. I think, the reality of Buhari’s incompetence first hit Nigerians like a pie in the face, when he squandered (seven) months without appointing Ministers. Tai! He started on a wrong footing. That was unprecedented. Nigeria was rudderless! But excuses were rustled up for him anyway. One of the excuses was that he was taking his time to appoint “Angels” into his cabinet. Alas! When members of the cabinet were unveiled, many Nigerians became disappointed. The likes of Rotimi Amaechi, Lai Mohammed, Babatunde Fashola, made “the angelic list”. However, Nigerians still reposed some modicum of hope in the President, after that shocker. They gave him the benefit of the doubt nonetheless. But his goodwill soon began to taper off. Nigeria wobbled from one confusion to another, until it hit the iceberg in August 2016, when the country entered into a recession – the first since 1983. Hundreds of companies closed shop, millions of workers got laid off, inflation rate ballooned, and unemployment level soared, but the government kept on manufacturing excuses for its naked incompetence. The Buhari administration then started passing the buck by manufacturing excuses. The spin doctors were at work. My good childhood friend, a Christian brother and now an armed Chair Journalist based in Mudslide torn Sierra Leone, joined the bandwagon, He self-recruited without pay to be a freelancer spin doctor. He was good at it. The spin doctors blamed the Jonathan administration for all the challenges. It owned up to nothing. Even the failure to fully implement the “budget of change” was blamed on Jonathan. I am sure the APC are working out the modalities and the strategies of also blaming the rats infestation of Buhari’s office on Jonathan. It is now more than two years since Buhari became President, but what achievement has he recorded? Your guess is good as mine. The President claimed in December 2016, that Boko Haram had been “technically” defeated, but the terror group keeps springing summer surprises on the Military. Now RATS have finally chased our dear President out of his office. To be candid, there is just no sign of progress anywhere. If they were, I would celebrate it!!! Written by: EBUKA IKEOYIBO: One of the closest Igbo man to the President Elect is Dr Chris Ngige Onwa, a Senator who was defeated in the Senatorial Election. See how bad Igbos are at strategizing? They couldn't override a pathological hatred for General Buhari to make a hedge bet and return this man to the Senate, to enhance his chances at Senate President, incase General Buhari wins, which he did. Instead folks played tribal and religious politics to the tilt as drunken sailors, and failed the man and the chance to make history as Senate President. That's what happens when emotions trips common sense and folks succumb to hustlers like Peter Obi and Arthur Eze, hustlers after their own interests instead of the masses they pretend to serve. I urged caution, I pleaded that we were making a huge mistake to hitch our wagon on Jonathan who wasn't going to win. And predictably he lost, so also our chance in the new administration. I hate to gloat. But maybe, maybe, only maybe he gets a good ministerial appointment, but nothing beats being Senate President. Igbos are very bad at politics. Fifty years after independence, we are yet to produce a president when others have taken multiple turns. Our answer? Blame others! If you only Hausas didn't do this or Yorubas didn't do that, perhaps the god of politics will bless our lot. And sadly it won't stop until we learn to coexist with others instead of our 'better than thou' attitude when dealing with the Hausas and Yorubas. We are not better than anyone, these folks we thumb our noses at, are God's creatures like us. We don't like the Hausas and we don't like the Yorubas, yet we populate their States in search for our livelihood. Our politics should mirror our economic aspirations, not the other way around. There is no wisdom in living in the North, earning a living, yet despise the Northerners. That's being ungrateful. The gods of politics don't like that. How long can this collective amnesia insulate us from meaningfully seating at the table, making contributions to Nigeria's political evolution? How long can this foolishness go on? How long? There is a miserable silence across the land today, because we are realizing that we were sold off for pennies by pimps who parade as Igbo leaders. Where are they? Anyone home? They may/may not grant visa as per that is purely VO's discretion. However, having enough money in the account is a requirement, so it doesn't mean other applicants are guarantee of the same as yours. . Congrats once again. |
TheonlykeneN:Wow, Congratulations! I am happy for you! . But how come the only post with this your username is this news. Congrats anyway! |
