BusinessBVN Registration Deadline Date Expired Yesterday For Diaspora Customers? by dotcomnamename(op):
cc: dominique

The CBN policy on BVN for Nigerians in abroad is simply aimed at infringing on their right to privacy.

BVN deadline date expired yesterday 30th June 2016 for Diaspora Customers sad . So diaspora customers bank accounts in nigeria will be restricted.

(1) Seizing diaspora customers hard-earned money because of BVN would be tantamount to theft, which may result to legal proceeding for damages, probably in a western court.

(2) What is stopping CBN from allowing Nigerian Embassies and Consulates to perform the BVN registration process?, coupled with the fact that BVN for Diaspora Customers should be left opened indefinitely i.e. whenever they come to Nigeria they can enrol their BVN.

(3) Must people must fly from one country to another because of BVN? That will be an assault to Human Rights

(4) That was how they forced Nigerians to register SIM cards to stop crime and kidnapping. Has it stopped kidnapping? Is kidnapping not on the increase?

(5) There were million Nigerians abroad who don't have proper paper, so how come the CBN want them to register in their various countries without proper paper?

(6) Will people not continue to open new Bank Accounts?

(7) What happens to the money already remitted to their accounts?.

( 8. ) Does the CBN even realise that there are millions of undocumented Nigerians in abroad, even with those documented ones, millions of them still need VISA to get into any of the branches abroad for BVN registration. Instead, The CBN should provide BVN registration centres in various Nigerian Embassies and consulates all around the world.

(9) What happened to the identity documents and other anti-money laundry documentation we had to submit in opening the accounts in line with international best practices and industry standard? If the banking system cannot use that for monitoring like other institutions in the world then this so-called BVN will not change anything.

(10) Many Nigerians may have even result to ''An evil nation run by wicked people. Why should i travel from France to Argentina for just BVN for a country as useless as Nigeria. A country that offered me only suffering and frustration''?

Well, all these 1940s pre-second world war policies and bound to fail. They should look for a better way to deal with these issues. Where do you expect the millions of Nigerians in countries where there is no enrolment centres to go in their country of residence for BVN registration?, or, does the CBN think that they have nothing better to do than to take time off their hard earned jobs and businesses and travel and spend many days because they want to register for BVN? If the CBN are really in line of considerable, they would make an exemption for those who are currently overseas. I believe that BVN is just another red tape that will not achieve anything. What we need is a radical change in our orientation (hearts and minds) not another useless layer of red tape.

The CBN has no power to stop people from having access to their bank accounts. The CBN's action can be challenged in court. The bank must make plans to set aside billions of dollars that may be paid as compensation for an ill-advised and senseless policy.

Nothing works as intended in Nigeria!

Constructive/polite opinions from mature nairalanders please!

You are 100% WRONG. England fans started it. Go to Sky Sports videos/news, BBC and Euro, you will see it. The British gov has apologised and advised their fans. Apology accepted by France. England fans started again yesterday with Russia the moment Russia equalised 1-1, it was the Russia goal that caused it. England fans always want to have their way and always want to be treated special in any country they go to.

TravelChange Of Passport And Change Of Details Will Be Done In Any State -CGI by dotcomnamename(op): 10:13am On Jun 08, 2016
This is indeed a good news for those having problem with their International passport ?

Muhammad Babandede, the new comptroller-general of the Nigeria immigration service (NIS), says he has authorised state commands to replace lost passports, and also commence change of name due to marriage.

Both exercises were hitherto done in Abuja.

Babandede also pledged to decentralise and eliminate corruption at all passport offices in the country, saying reorganisation of the passport offices, was part of the sweeping reforms that has been embarked on by his administration.

The immigration boss disclosed this at a programme in Abuja on Thursday.

“Approval for replacement of lost passports shall henceforth be given by state comptrollers after online vetting and processing of application at the Passport Division in the Service’s headquarters,” he said.

“The minister of interior, Rtd Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau has tasked me to embark on this reform.

“We have taken stock of previous reforms, so what we are doing now is to decentralise the process, so that everybody do not need to come to Abuja for their passport.

“You know this creates tension in the system and even encourages corruption because of the pressure.”

The Immigration boss said that as part of efforts to root out corruption at passport offices, the official fees/categories of passports will henceforth be displayed at various passport offices to ensure transparency.

According to him, the 64 page e-passport still costs N20,000, 32 page booklet costs N15,000 (18-60 years) while those below 18 years and above 60 years cost N8, 750.

He urged Nigerians to insist on paying the official fees at the designated passport offices or pay online at the official immigration website to avoid exploitation by touts and agents.

Babandede said the NIS was also working to ensure availability of all categories of passport booklets, especially the 32 page booklet which is always in high demand “to avoid any confusion”.

He said additional passport offices will also be opened in state commands where the existing passport office is getting overwhelmed with demand to ensure efficient service delivery.

I can understand the need to include birth certificate but including children birth certificate and training letter makes no sense.

When you send savings account you don't need letter from the bank to say that you allowed to withdraw.

I'm not sure if the embassy will accept additional document after days of submission
Ok thanks.

I don't know why those documents were added.

Yes he should have added his salary account and not just savings
Thank you for your reply. host birth certificate , The embassy required host to provide Documentary evidence of the link between applicant and the contact/host. Beside that, recent refusal letters that i have seen from embassy stated ''No clear link to reference has been shown - e.g. birth certificate of contact/host as proof of family relationship'' . Another refusal reason clearly stated ''R:- No clear link to reference has been shown - no birth certs linking sponsors and applicant''. Thus the birth cert is included.

host children birth certificates and host training letters and letter from school : Thought the embassy will understand that at least host is doing something since host is not working at the moment. However, lesson learned.

As per the savings account, infarct i said the same thing that salary account is better, he insisted on savings account because there is no money there and that because embassy said If you are sending a bank statement from a deposit/savings account, you must also include a letter from your bank confirming that you are allowed to withdraw money from that account. Do you think its too late now to send in the salary account or wait?

Thanks

Hello Justwise, please kindly check below documents submitted today for two weeks family visit and tell me what you think. However, i am thinking that the embassy may request for the applicant's salary account instead of savings account he has submitted, as there is no money in his salary account? I also think they may refuse on the ground that the host is not working at the moment, although the applicant will sponsor himself, what do you think?

PoliticsSola Adeyeye On Why Ben Murray-Bruce Was Prevented From Greeting President Buhar by dotcomnamename(op): 11:27am On May 31, 2016
So senator common sense actually lied. Just for his usual cheap seeking popularity. It is so pathetic when a supposed elder citizen sulks over handshake and misleads those who want to remain gullible. Senator Ben Bruce needs to borrow common sense, it is obvious he doesn't have it.
This was what truly transpired...

"I was at the dinner. I sat in the front row along with other Principal Officers of the National Assembly. I had a vantage view of what transpired. I am disappointed by this comment from a respected colleague. I have on two occasions provided robust defense of Sen Ben Bruce. Not this time!
It was Sen Dino Melaye who first went to greet those seated at the President's table, including President Buhari. He was well greeted. No one in the senate has criticized President Buhari more than Sen Melaye. But as others rose to do what Dino had done, the scene got clumsy and indecorous because people were approaching the President's table from different directions. I sat between Sen Olujimi and Sen Bwacha. The three of us felt embarrassed by what was clearly a breach of dinner protocol. At that level, if dinner was served or being served, good etiquette demanded that the President's table should not be approached. One should wait until people had finished eating. No senator in the USA would breach such elementary protocol. We (on my table) predicted in whispers that colleagues would soon be barred from approaching the President's table and it happened. The first person to be turned back was Sen Gemade who was visibly embarrassed. He belongs to the APC; he is not a known critic of the President.
When I noticed that most people had finished their food, I approached the table and offered my pleasantries. Others followed suit. No one was turned back."
