Is that new? Shekau,Bin Laden and other people of his faith are/were peaceful too. His religion also spread around the world peacefully through chariots and swords. It is also maintaining grip in many places peacefully through intimidation of women and kafirs.

For any religion or organization to be constantly reminding the world that it is of peace means something is wrong with its perception and the world doesnt see it as peaceful.
